I need to give this place 5 stars based on customer service alone. I had been searching for a dress to wear to my brothers wedding for weeks before I stumbled on this place, so I really had a good number of places to compare it to. Alissa was wonderful and I highly recommend asking for her. She took me to three different racks of dresses, picking out ones that tailored to my taste, as well as others she thought would compliment my figure. But most importantly, before each rack, she let me know the price range of the dresses. Countless times I had tried on dresses and fell in love with them, only to find out they were way out of my budget. I ended up choosing the first dress I tried on, one that Alissa personally picked for me and I couldn't be happier. My dress arrived within a week, and I am already happy with how the first fitting turned out. They also have a selection of hand painted dresses that are really beautiful. They start around $1000, but the craftsmanship is artfully done and unique, so no two dresses will look the same! read more

They robbed me of 5,000.00. The dress was sketched and ordered, measurements taken, when it came in it was hideous!! Of course you have to sign away your life before anything, so I was out thousands of dollars on a hideous gown. Plus, it would have been $1,200.00 to alter!! I purchased a dress actually two dresses there for my son's two weddings. Spending quite a bit of money on one dress. It was a sample that I purchased and they never told me that it had to be spot cleaned. Basically when you go to a dry cleaner. Everything has to be just regularly cleaned. Well the dress got ruined and I brought it back to them figuring they would fix it for free because they never told me it would have to spot cleaned. They charged me an additional $750 to replace the lining and the crystals. I couldn't believe they would just charge me additional money when it was there error. Unfortunately, I paid it because it was for my son's wedding that was coming up shortly. They were very nice when I went to buy the dresses, but if you have any issues, they are awful.! read more

Do not buy a dress here! Went in a few times to try on a dress and was told one price and when I went to order it was told the salesperson made a mistake and it was $500 more! The owner acted like she was doing me a favor by honoring the price I had been given but told me they wouldn't alter the dress and to take it to an outside tailor. The tailor they sent me to would not touch the dress bc the fabric was difficult. They did the alterations at runway and it was a complete nightmare. After being back for 10 fittings (and using 3 different tailors) and being made to feel that I was being too picky when it really was the alterations were never being done properly, I asked to speak to the owner who never apologized for all the hours I spent waiting for this dress to be completed and was right down to the wire of 3 days before my party, I was told I was lucky she did the alterations for me, she was beyond nasty and walked away from me mid conversation. I was left with a dress I was still unhappy with and had to then take it to my own tailor, who spent the next 2 days fixing the dress for me as an emergency and of course had to pay again for all these alterations to be fixed. I didn't end up with my dress until 5:30 pm the night before my party. This was a horrible experience and wouldn't wish this on anyone else buying a dress there. Steer clear of this store! read more

I absolutely LOVED the dress I got for my cousin's wedding. She's my last cousin to get married and I was so excited to finally have a reason to get an over the top dress. The dress was absolutely beautiful, tailored perfectly to my size and customized a bit to cover my body where I feel slightly less secure. I felt like the Belle of the ball! Had called ahead to see if they had anything for mother of the bride that would be suitable for a beach wedding. Of course they said yes. When we arrived they had one outfit that was so overpriced I couldn't believe it. As soon as I asked if they had anything within my price range ($1200) she said I'll be right back to you. Well needless to say we never saw the salesperson again. She passed us on to someone else who helped my daughter find a dress. She was very nice and patient but I was the one who looked through the racks and found the perfect dress for her ceremony in NY. (She had bought a wedding gown for the reception in Aruba). I purchased two gowns for both my daughter's weddings (on separate occasions). They were magnificent and my guests are still raving about them. Another gown was purchased for a "Maid of Honor" occasion which again was magnificent and elegant. These gowns were not the typical department store looking gowns. They all belonged on the "Red Carpet". Kim and her team were amazing, they were patient and paid attention to every detail and made sure I loved my gowns. I had a wonderful experience buying a dress from Runway Couture. I went in a couple of weeks ago to look for a dress for a wedding. From the minute you walk in the store you can tell that this store is unique and has beautiful dresses. I met with Kim and her staff who went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and explore all available options with me. I received so many compliments about the dress and people asking where I got it. Based on the experience, quality and customer service, in the future I would only go to Runway Couture for dresses for events. read more

Obnoxious poorly dressed saleswomen insisting I try on heavy/thick polyester dresses that were almost $2000.00. Repeating over and over I can make changes and get you any color you want. Designer /owner comes over to show me how dress can be customized with beaded lace. The lace was lovely but the dress was not. Adding 12 flowers cut from the lace was another $1000.00. Still had to pay for basic alterations which they would send me somewhere else to have done. Runways seamstress would be to expensive. There is an additional $200.00 charge if you need larger than a size 14. And any changes you make to the original design is also additional. On the other side of the store is an angry group of women who had dresses custom made or altered. The alterations weren't completed or weren't done correctly. Some of the women had been back many times and still no dress. One women who was there was on the way to her event fully dressed in an outfit that can only be described as a Halloween costume that Runway custom made for her. She couldn't figure out how to put the final piece on.. Another was there for her final pickup and they gave it to her without the hem being done. Sewing beading onto inexpensive dresses with cut out labels is not design or couture. It's an arts and craft project that the owner turned into a business that is poorly managed. read more

Literally the worst experience here. Took a picture of my mother wearing a dress and was told by the salesperson that photography wasn't allowed -- okay, fine. So I didn't take another photo. I then got accused of taking another photo when I was sitting in the chair and the lady told me she could see me taking a video. I literally wasn't, I was going through snapchat stories. I then said, I wasn't taking a photo. No apology was offered -- extremely rude staff. Why would anyone waste their money here? Arrived on time for appointment with Mara. I was coming from work for appointment thus well dressed in tailored suit. Mara greeted me by asking what I wanted to spend. Didn't ask where/when wedding was and left me to attend to a "regular" customer. She had A salesperson attend to me. I and tried on one dress and left. Deplorable customer service, Mara lacks manners and had she been astute and customer friendly she would have realized that I was interested in more than a dress. I went the next day to Vivaldi boutique where I was treated with lunch, well mannered sales people and exceptional customer service. If I could give this business less than one star,I would for 3 reasons. 1. They are selling the same dresses as other stores but they charge twice the price. That was confirmed by me with more than one dress. 2. Their selection is weak. The mother of the bride dresses are matronly and their selection of prom dresses is small. 3. I gave them a deposit (50%) in good faith but asked them to wait on the order because I wanted to lose weight and I had 13 months until my daughter's wedding. They ordered it the next day. Runway Couture is one of the worst places to buy a dress. First of all, they have a terrible selection of dresses. I tried on many dresses and when I finally ordered the one I liked, they got me the wrong size. It was 2 sizes too big. They also cut out the Jovani tags and put in their own tags. I had to go to another dress store to order the Jovani dress in the right size. Runway refused to take the dress back and now I'm trying to sell the dress online, but that's hard to do because they cut out the Jovani tags. I am so happy that I came to Runway Couture for a dress for my sons wedding. Owners Blanca and Kim want you totally happy with what you walk out the door with. I had multiple fittings and when I walked out the door I knew I had something that fit me like a glove. The dress was steamed out, hung with care snd filled with tissue to keep the shape. I was told a month before the wedding, if I lost any additional weight, just set up an appointment and they will make any adjustments necessary and do another steaming. A nice surprise, Blanca made a matching formal mask to match the dress. SO NICE! And I have to mention the third musketeer, Mara. She is kind, thorough, and she is the reason I am walking out with the dress I bought, she listened to what I was thinking about and guided towards the dress. I loved working with her too! If I could I would give it "0" stars and less than that. Absolutely not runway or couture. It's the dresses that ran off the runway to be recycled. All the dresses have the labels taken out and Runway Couture labels sewn in and no visible price tags. They should be ashamed of themselves to scam the customer by charging 1000's of dollars for a dress that wholesales at $60. Price tags are hidden under the dress or the under the lining. Some have no price tags. First 2 Red flags. Of course they asked if I have an appointment and I didn't. They told I will have to wait. No big deal. Then when the woman asked me my budget I told her. She paid no attention. I told her no sheath dresses and I needed an A- line fit. Every dress she brought me was a sheath dress and even a scuba dress. I had to keep asking for the prices and was told they are not in my price range but they have others that are more expensive that I would like. I kept being told it's not my size and it will be perfect in my size. Of course I was told how beautiful every dress looked. One was worse than the other. They had me try on a dress that looked like a prom dress. It was a sheer corset on top with lots of boning and was extremely puffy on the bottom with many layers of tulle. Told me they would use lace over it and remove some of the tulle material. I thought if I sneezed I would break a rib. I felt like I was going to a costume party. They stood by the dressing room waiting for me to take off the dress. They told me not to hang it up and give it right to them. The curtain did not close completely on either side. They were paranoid that I would take pics of the dress. They told me no pics of the dresses or my information about the cost and alterations. Hmm. Obviously hiding something. The prices are insane plus alterations. They wanted $4200 + TBD alterations for a plan nothing dress that is NOT designer and and can be purchased online for probably $100. It is despicable to deceive the customer. They have the cheapest crap dresses. Please do your research. Be a smart shopper and don't get ripped off for thousands of dollars. Go to the 2 stores that begin with an N, the 2 that begin with B or Saks. The Runway Couture store is a scam tricking the customer in thinking they are getting something high end when it's recyclable trash. read more

I went to Runway Couture to find a Mother of the Bride dress. I had no appt and was taken immediately. From the minute I walked in the store I was hooked. Very comfortable and friendly atmosphere. The sales staff are attentive and warm. The clothes are special and tailored to fit. Beautiful women's fashions and very helpful saleswomen. Way too helpful ! This is the way clothing should be sold. We walked into the store and were greeted like friends, as we browsed the racks the sales woman , Mara, asked me what style I was looking for and as she was taking the items to a fitting room and making suggestions of her own. Sales staff helpful without the hustle.The whole experience was wonderful. They took their time. This is an amazing store and the owner really knows what she is doing and runs a great business. You can tell she really cares about her customers, staff and her product. This store is fabulous! The merchandise is beautiful and beautifully made. I can't say enough about the staff, they are phenomenal! Not only are they friendly and extremely knowledgeable, but told me what looked good and what didn't and they were right.. I wanted to go back with my daughter so the sales girl said to make an appt for the next time I come so I did and she was just as helpful as she was the first time.. I live in bellmore and was excited when it came time to check this store out. I was looking for a dress to wear to my daughters communion party ... when I walked in the store I looked around for about 15 or 20 min and kept holding a dress up to myself in front of a mirror thinking someone would say one Moment we'll be right with you. Nuthing!! All I got were blank stares and nasty eyes from employees that walked right past me.. maybe it was because I had a work sweatshirt on or maybe it was because I had my son with me Either way I probably would have purchased a dress .... not now. Decided to go shopping and came across this boutique since they are local. Please beware of this store. They cut off the labels of dresses on the one side of the store and claim its there couture line or something of the sorts. It's basically dresses that they want to mark up way over sticker price and they remove the labels. I tried on 3 dresses all similar styles which I recognize from Abyss which on the Abyss site from $120-$180 and this store is selling it the dresses for $500. Completely absurd if you ask me. I understand a markup but it seams like they are just trying to RIP people off. The sales people are rude there as well. I will not be back. I will continue to shop at the boutiques that I have in the past. read more

I went into this store looking for a bride's maid dress. I have been into many stores, but I was still shopping around. I looked around for a few minutes without anyone noticing me, but someone did come help me fairly quickly- that was fine. When I asked about a light blue gown, the women copped an attitude and asked me why I didn't come during prom season. I didn't know what color I needed to buy during prom season. Aren't they supposed to have gowns all year round? The women was nasty and told me to come back in November. As if I'll be giving them business when everyone else on Long Island has plenty of options for me. If you're thinking of looking here try somewhere else where the sales help actually helps and they actually have merchandise in the store. I went here to buy a prom dress and didn't really find anything I liked much. The dresses all run very large and the woman helping me had to hold the back tight so I could see how the dress would fit. My consultant was very sweet though and helpful and they do keep track of the girls that purchased dresses and what school they go to so no one has the same dress. Only after I was there for 20 minutes. Once I put my name down still I received no help. I would highly recommend this store. Went in July for a mother of the bride dress and worked with Michele. Went to try on a Jovani gown I had seen elsewhere but wanted to see other things. She was kind,patient and respectful of my price point. I felt very comfortable with her and tried on several other dresses but was in love with the Jovani and ordered it. The dress came in several months later exactly as promised. Had a great experience with the seamstress and the alterations were not unreasonable. Needed an extra fitting to iron out a few minor glitches but the staff was amazing and the dress was perfect. They even gave my husband a nice discount on the earrings he bought me to go with the dress!! I noticed every time I was in the store there were women purchasing the ultra expensive dresses that they carry. My gown was beautiful but priced more modestly than the couture gowns. However, I was treated with same attention and respect every time I was in the store. That is not always the case in these boutiques. Would recommend to everyone I know! I went to Runway Couture for a gown and the woman I worked with was so rude to me. Was trying to make me purchase and gown 5 times my size and then would charge the price of another dress to have it taken in because I was losing weight. And what makes me write this review, is the day I went for my fitting. I walked through the back door to be greeted by the same woman sitting at the desk and she proceeded to tell me how I don't want to try on the dress, I don't need to try on the dress, etc. So I collected my dress, paid balance and walked out. When I got home I noticed on my contract that she had written that I refused to try on the dress at the store. The dresses are not worth the money they charge and they try to rob you by making you buy a larger size so they can charge you up the a** for alterations. read more

The absolute WORST experience ever!!! I wouldn't give them the pleasure of spending my money there. I have never been treated more rudely in my entire life. The dresses they gave me to try on were horrible. The owner is awful! She didn't want to bother showing me custom dresses because I live in Florida. She has no idea whether or not I would be able to return to try on the dress again. But that is really neither here nor there. If I wanted to order a dress and have it altered near where I live, that is really my prerogative and she did not need to make the decision for me. She yelled at my 12 year old daughter and told her she was not permitted to have her phone in there. She ripped open the dressing room curtain, not once, but twice, while I was completely naked. We believe it was to make sure we were not taking pictures. There was nothing to take pictures of! The dresses they showed me were cheap and awful! I grew up in Merrick and am embarrassed that people from my hometown would act so horribly. She should be embarrassed! Stay away!!! read more
