I had a very uncomfortable experience here. As soon as I walked in, instead of being greeted with a…read moresimple "Welcome" or "Hi, let us know if you need anything," the first thing I was asked was, "Are you okay?" It immediately made me feel judged rather than welcomed. While I was in the fitting room, I was asked again if I was okay. I replied, "Yes, I'm just getting changed." After that, I heard someone respond, "Okay," followed by what sounded like chuckling. Whether it was directed at me or not, it made the situation feel even more uncomfortable. The whole experience left me feeling like the staff assumed I couldn't afford to shop there or that I didn't belong in the store. I can't know what they were thinking, but that's genuinely how their behavior came across to me. I left feeling embarrassed, unwelcome, and unlikely to return. I hope the staff can be more mindful of how they greet and treat customers so everyone feels respected, regardless of how they look when they walk through the door. When I did leave they were very nice. But that might only be because they saw I could actually afford something.

The person working there proceeded to complain to her coworker that "People complained that there was no sign, so we put a sign and no one reads it". I will say that they were very complementary to those of us who were trying on suits and had no problem with assisting us in our purchases. I ended up buying a one piece suit for $175 and was told that swimsuits are final sale. When I got it home and tried it on, I attempted to remove the hygienic liner (the one that you cannot remove until after you make the purchase) and I was upset to find that it would not easily come off and left a sticky residue. I called the store and was told, "Well, wash it!!!" I'm sorry but when I spend $175 on a suit ($250 in total after I purchased the cover-up to match) I do not expect to have to scrub the crotch to get the sticker off of it. Regular detergent was not doing the job. It's almost impossible to remove the sticky stuff. This store has a nice selection of high-end swimwear but is terrible with customer service. When you spend a fair amount of money, you should be satisfied with your purchase. No questions asked, especially if the item is damaged.

Each time I said, "understood." - I tried on a bathing suit and as I was looking at myself in the mirror and talking to my sister about the bathing suit, I was approached by one of their sale's staff and told that I needed a larger size. I could see two other employees standing in the corner of the dressing room, staring at me and rolling their eyes. I began to tell her that I didn't think I needed a different size, she cut me off and said, "no, you do." She came back a minute later with the larger size. Please note that this input was unsolicited. I never asked for their opinion or for them to grab me a different size. - My fitting room curtain was abruptly opened by the sales staff while I was undressed. I explained that I was uncomfortable with her doing that, her response, "I am used to seeing women naked." - I was stared down the entire time and when I asked a question about a bathing suit bottom, I was yelled at and the response was, "No! That one is not extra coverage!" - I showed my sister a dress and explained to her that it was too big for me, the owner, Marna Hann, looked at me and yelled, "Trust me that fits you!" and she rolled her eyes. Again, I didn't ask for her input or opinion. I wasn't even addressing her. I was talking to my sister. I felt like I was in the twilight zone. How do 4 women get away with this type of behavior? Did I do something wrong? Luckily my sister witnessed it and validated everything I felt and experienced, and then I read the online reviews and more validation........Read all of the reviews!!! DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY at a store that intentionally body shames women and treats women with absolute disrespect and borderline harrasment. I should've spent my money elsewhere. There isn't a single brand they sell that you cannot find at Everything But Water, Nordstrom's, Saks or Bloomies. Marna if you are reading this, I wonder what the brands you sell would have to say about your behavior? Taking into consideration the importance of body positivity, inclusivity and respect, wonder how they would feel about you, your partner and employees, representing their brand and products? While the selection still seems great and most of the associates seemed friendly, the associate I ended up with did not seem interested in talking with me. We spoke briefly but in the end I didn't feel there was space to ask in depth about what I was looking for and I ended up leaving without buying anything. Still 3 stars because I do love this store and plan to give it another chance next time. I ended up going to the Manhattan location and had an excellent experience there.
