We returned to Rumi's Kitchen this weekend, which felt a bit like going back to an ex who at first seems to understand you completely, and on your second date seats you beside a highway and hands you emotional confusion instead of bread. Inside, it remains very appealing. The lighting is flattering and warm. People murmur and laugh as though they have been cast for this exact purpose. The food smells incredible. We, however, were exiled. "Patio" is generous. It was more of a idea about outdoor dining. It's positioned beside a stoplight, where passing traffic contributes a loud soundtrack. At one point, a heavily modified Nissan paused long enough to deliver Goodie Mobs "Fly Away" at a volume usually reserved for announcing natural disasters. It is, objectively, a good song. It becomes less so when it is twenty feet away and competing with your ability to form thoughts. I'd say we sat in silence until the light turned green, but that's not true. The sun also took a personal interest. For a while I couldnt see anything except a hot, blinding glow. Around 7:00, it finally relented, sliding behind a building. My chair was placed inches from the door that opened so often I began to feel like part of the mechanism. A hinge, perhaps. The waiter, to his credit, was great. Warm, attentive, clearly trying to be in several places at once. Unfortunately, he had been assigned to what appeared to be the entire outdoor area. So when the hummus arrived without bread, we regarded it the way one regards something behind glass. Reverently. Hungrily. Ten minutes passed. I started eating it with a spoon. None of this was the waiter's fault. It was the sort of organizational optimism that assumes one man can serve eight tables during the weekend dinner rush and also bend time. And then, just as we finished, we were invited to walk back through the restaurant. Past the glow. Past the laughter. Past the people living the evening we thought we had reserved. Y'all! Now there's a Rumi's Kitchen in my city (DC) but of course I had to come on down to Atlanta to try it. LOL. That fact aside, I really enjoyed my visit here. I was in town for work and a few of us decided to enjoy and weeknight dinner as our first meal in the city. It's in Midtown, so there are a lot of options but I'm so glad we went with Rumi's. We are a mix of vegetarian and non and there was something for all of us. It's designed as sharing small plates, so we tried: -Shirazi Salad -Roaster cauliflower -Chicken Barg -Mirza Ghasemi (smoked eggplant) No complaints-- I was one of the ones who tried them all ;-) Our server (i believe her name is Jordan...blame it on travel and not the heart!) was amazing--so patient with our many questions and just a friendly person. She offered great recommendations as well. The one somewhat slight is that it was pretty dark. Some of my party couldn't see the menu. Of course, probably amazing for a date night but I think it could be a touch brighter to avoid using cell phone flashlights. Not enough to knock the experience though especially we had food, drink, and great conversation. Highly recommend if you're in Midtown and now it inspires me to visit the one in my town! read more

Always a treat to dine at Rumi's! First time at this location and it was beautifully decorated with a pleasant outdoor seating area. It was packed on a Monday night so I was glad we had reservations! Cocktails were great (the mule always hits the spot). Started with the green salad with fennel which was not one of the better things we've had. We ordered three kebabs with the steak paired with pomegranate being our least favorite (it was just too sweet). The ice cream sandwich dessert was a light way to end our meal and was complimentary given it was a birthday celebration. My new fav! Where do I begin? Absolute beautiful location. Cozy, romantic and an all around good vibe. The bartenders were so sweet and social. Not a boring moment while waiting for our table. So apparently there are three locations in Georgia and two others out of state: LA and Houston. I will definitely be visiting those locations as well. Now for the food...... DELICIOUS. Warm, buttery, flavorful, fresh oh my goodness mouth-watering good! The naan, oysters mushroom hummus, the lamb the rice ugh it was all so good. I will be stopping by weekly its that good. Okay I totally understand the Rumi's hype. The colony square location has immaculate vibes. The drinks are fantastic - the spicy mezcal cocktail never fails to please. The food? Delicious. Every time I've come I've been blown away. Some highlights (as a vegetarian): The falafel - 10/10 amazing, so light and fluffy and delicious Mirza Ghazemi- 10/10 I literally dream of this because it's so good. If you like smoky you must get this! Kashk Badenjoon- 9/10 literally so good but I like the Smokey better if I had to choose! Corn Ribs- 5/10 ok everyone I know loves these but they're truthfully not for me. If you like buttery sweet corn you will enjoy this (it's just not my vibe) Roasted Cauliflower- 7/10 tasty! And worth it if you need a veggie, but not as standout as some other dishes Crispy potatoes- 9/10 I honestly love these but who doesn't love potatoes Shirin Rice- 10/10 I don't even love rice but this is incredible it's sweet and salty and so balanced! Pretty good, not great. I had a complimentary cheese dish with pita to start. It was savory and creamy. Followed that with the Labne Chared Tomatoes. I wouldn't have normally ordered those, but the bartender sold them. They didn't disappoint. There was a creamy yogurt with them that went well with the pita. Lastly, the lamb kebabs. Finally made my way to Riki's Kitchen. This was another stop on my staycation. Once I saw the lamb biscuits and gravy I knew I had to try it. My reservation was for 12 so it was starting to get crowded. It was not noisy though. I started with a drink that I can't remember that name of. It had gin in it though. The smoked salmon hummus was my appetizer. Very well balance and the salmon was light. The entree was what I truly came for. I don't eat pork so when I see a chance to get biscuits and gravy without the pork I jump on it. This was delicious. Four small drop biscuits with a lamb gravy over it. The portion size is great because you don't feel extremely full after. Just the right amount. I am coming back to try out the dinner menu. read more

Visited on a Saturday evening for a sister date. We did valet parking which the restaurant will validate. It was busy on the inside but they were efficient and moved us right along. We were seated and given menus while we waited for our server. Our server, Hamza, showed up shortly after to ask for our water order and if we had anyone questions. Hamza was patient and helpful from our questions about food to our questions regarding the wine. We decided on the Roasted Crimini & Oyster Mushroom hummus and the Mirza Ghasemi. When it arrived it came with fresh pita bread as well as a plate of herbs, cheese, and walnuts. We paired the herbs with hummus and Mirza and it gave it an elevated taste. We enjoyed the smokiness of the Mirza and the hummus was super creamy. For our entrees, I got the sea bass and my sister got the scallops. We also ordered a bottle of Bordeaux. Hamza boxed up our appetizer while we waited for our entrees. Once those arrived we were ready to dig in lol. My sea bass was thick and had a nice char. The rice was flavorful. While Hamza explained that the scallops were a stew, I don't think we realized that it was an actual stew lol. It came with crispy rice and potatoes. We loved the crispness of the rice and how it paired with the stew which was very flavorful. Overall we enjoyed our time, food, and wine. read more

I had been wanting to go to this specific location ever since it opened! The big, beautiful doors don't even prepare you for how breathtaking it is inside...shoutout to whoever was behind the decor. Our service was 10/10 off the bat. Our server's name was Chase, he was awesome, very kind and very patient. He did a great job at breaking down the brunch menu and guiding us on what to order. We started with the breadbasket, which was paired with fig jam, butter, honeycomb and this delicious, clotted cream. We loved our drinks, especially the "Carajillo" which was a mix of tequila and espresso. For our entrees we actually all ordered the same dish, which was the Zabuton Steak and Eggs. *Chef's Kiss*. My goodness, I mean you can never go wrong with a steak and eggs combo, but the spices? and potatoes? It was so rich in flavor we were all more than pleased with our meals. I had been to Rumi (the Sandy Springs location), but only for dinner, so this was my first time having brunch. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but my experience tonight was so unpleasant I felt compelled to say something. I joined a reservation for 3 to surprise a friend for her birthday. It was meant to be a special evening, but instead, I was met with an attitude from our server that made me feel like an unwelcome burden the moment I sat down. She acted as if my presence was inconvenient and made no effort to hide her annoyance. I wasn't rude to her at all, yet her demeanor toward me was cold and dismissive for the remainder of the evening. While my friends were still eating their appetizers, I wasn't offered a plate, nor was I asked if I wanted to order one. I also ordered an espresso martini that took so long to arrive I had to follow up about it. When she brought utensils for our entrées, she handed everyone theirs--except mine, which she dropped off in a pile in front of me. The passive-aggressive tone was clear all night, and honestly, I can't understand what would make a server feel justified in giving someone such a negative experience simply for joining a birthday dinner. It was my first time at Rumi's and unfortunately, I don't see myself coming back. No one should be made to feel like they're an inconvenience just for being there. read more

The interior was modern, but also had beautiful Persian elements that made it so cozy. Our server was super kind and offered us personal recommendations. We started with the Labne charred tomato which isn't a usual Persian dish that I have. The Labne was thick and delicious. It paired beautifully with the roasted tomato and pita bread. They also brought out a complimentary side of sabzi (greens) which is traditional in Persian culture. For our entree, we split the Soltani kabob dish. They were so kind and brought the dish out already split into two plates. The koobideh was delicious and the beef tenderloin was seasoned to perfection. Gideon was such a great person. So thankful for his insight. He helped us decide on appetizers and drinks. The food was so delicious. I got the lamb with lentils and raisin rice. I was on a work trip and stayed at a nearby hotel which recommended this restaurant. I had never had Iranian food before but went in open minded. The restaurant itself felt upscale so it would be a good spot for a special occasion. The service was top notch. But most importantly the food was uniquely flavorful. If you're looking for unique flavors with fresh ingredients in each dish, Rumi's does not disappoint. The service is prompt and professional. The food is always consistent in taste and quality. The menu selections range from Kabobs, Lamb, Sea bass, and salmon. scallops, and many vegetarian dishes. I love the Lamb Merguez AMAZING! The corn ribs with the black seed dukkah with jalapeño butter excellent. I could go on and on, but if you love Middle Eastern dishes and haven't tried Rumi's yet, you're doing yourself a disservice. Finally! I got a chance to try the infamous Rumi's Kitchen. While I only shared a few apps with my lunch guest, it was wonderful! We ordered lamb with hummus, spinach and date salad, and had the complimentary herbs, radish and cheese with pita bread. The entrees on the tables next to me looked amazing! I seriously need to come back just for that. A few notes- they do fully validate valet parking and only validate 50% of the parking garage fee. Also, make sure you have a reservation. Came for brunch before a show at the Fox. When you come up through the parking garage and are inside of Colony Square you are going to head outside to find the entrance. It is beautifully decorated inside where you are welcomed with an open kitchen area where fresh flatbread is being made. The portions are huge. Two people can easily split one dish, especially if you order an appetizer and snack on the complimentary fresh bread and Sabzi plate. We were there in a Saturday afternoon and both the lunch and brunch menus were available to us. We enjoyed hummus, sea bass, gheymeh, and two kids of rice plus a crispy potato tahdeeg. Had a great first meal at Rumi's on Saturday night. Took a while to get a table, but we settled for one in the bar/lounge area rather than sit at a busy corner table offered to us in the main dining room. Ambience was lively and bustling. Service and food were fantastic. Pita bread baked fresh in Tandoors keeps coming, and the smoked eggplant spread, Fattoush salad and lamb and wagyu kabobs were all excellent. My only gripe is that the tables in the bar/lounge area are really too small to juggle plates, bread and drinks while dining. I had an incredible dining experience at Rumi's! The chicken kabob was perfectly cooked--juicy, flavorful, and seasoned to perfection. Paired with a glass of Riesling, it was a match made in culinary heaven. The wine was so delightful that I couldn't resist buying a bottle to take home! That said, I was surprised by how long it took for the food to come out--it felt a bit longer than expected. Also, note that you have to pay to park, but they do validate (don't forget to ask!). We left and had to come back after realizing the parking fee was $24 without validation. Rumi's is an Atlanta staple for me every time I visit! Persian food has grown on me since the first time I visited and this restaurant and staff do a wonderful job explaining different dishes and pairings. The restaurant has an elegant fine dining feel to hit while also making you feel very comfortable! My favorite entree is the lamb kebab! The lamb is cooked medium with a little pink in the middle but very juicy and tender. I always start with the oyster mushroom and salmon hummus which I eat with the fresh pita bread and pairings that come when you sit down at your table. I'm surprised that I've never written a review for this restaurant and location because I've been here several times over the past few years. I recently came back for the first time in a while for a birthday celebration on a Saturday, and I was as great as it was when I regularly came. The service has always been top notch, and that night was no different. Our server was really attentive and helpful to those in the party that have never been to this restaurant before. She helped build a lasting positive impression on them, and the food made them fans for life! I ordered one of my favorite dishes there: Kabob Torsh. The beef sirloin is always cooked to perfection and simply melts in your mouth. It's generously seasoned, and the pomegranate pairs so well with it. Also, I highly recommend adding some sumac to this dish (honestly, sumac goes with almost any dish here). Parking: The restaurant only validates 50% of the parking if you park in the parking deck, so I highly recommend the free valet parking. read more
