Rumi's Kitchen Avalon is a modern Persian restaurant that combines traditional Iranian flavors with a polished, upscale dining experience. We walked into a stylish interior with a warm, inviting atmosphere, and the outdoor seating area adds another option for enjoying the meal in a more relaxed setting. The space feels designed for both casual dinners and special occasions, with the decor and overall presentation making the experience feel elevated from the moment we arrived. The lighting and layout create a comfortable energy that is lively without being overwhelming, striking a balance that works for a range of dining occasions. The menu focuses on Persian classics with a strong emphasis on grilled meats, seafood, rice dishes, and shareable plates. The kabobs are the main attraction, and dishes like the Kabob Koobideh and Chicken Barg showcase the restaurant's strength with well-seasoned meats cooked over the grill. We ordered the Koobideh and found the meat juicy and flavorful, with a char that added depth without drying it out. The Chilean sea bass is another standout option, offering a different direction from the traditional Persian dishes while still fitting naturally into the menu, with a flaky texture and a preparation that lets the quality of the fish come through. The rice dishes, particularly the saffron and barberry options, are worth ordering alongside the proteins, as they provide a fragrant, slightly sweet contrast to the grilled meats. The appetizers are also worth exploring, especially when dining with a group. The hummus variations, including options like lamb hummus and salmon hummus, add more creativity compared to a typical hummus plate. We tried the roasted eggplant and falafel, both of which worked well as lighter starters that did not overshadow the main courses. The roasted eggplant had a smoky depth that paired nicely with the bread, while the falafel was crisp and well seasoned. The appetizer section gives the table a good mix of textures and flavors, making it easy to build a spread before the larger plates arrive. Beyond the food, the service and atmosphere are a big part of what makes Rumi's Kitchen stand out. The staff was attentive and welcoming, guiding us through the menu and making the experience feel more personal. They were knowledgeable about the dishes and happy to offer suggestions without being pushy. The restaurant has a lively energy that stays comfortable, which makes it a good choice for everything from celebrations to a relaxed dinner. The pacing of the meal was well handled, with courses arriving at a steady rhythm that allowed us to enjoy each dish without feeling rushed. Reservations are recommended, especially during busy evenings and weekends, since the restaurant's popularity can make walk-ins difficult. Portions are generous, and the menu works especially well for sharing, allowing you to try several different dishes rather than sticking to one entrée. The pricing reflects the quality of the ingredients and the level of service, making it a place that feels worth the investment for a special night out. Rumi's Kitchen Avalon delivers a well-rounded Persian dining experience with strong flavors, thoughtful presentation, and an atmosphere that feels just as carefully designed as the food. It is a great option when you are looking for a restaurant that goes beyond a simple meal and offers a full dining experience, one that balances tradition with a modern approach and leaves you feeling like you have experienced something complete and satisfying. read more

I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at a restaurant that completely failed in terms of hospitality. From the moment I arrived, it was evident that the host had little regard for my needs and preferences. Despite my explicit explanation that I cannot tolerate high-crowded places, she disregarded my request and insisted on seating me at a table that was extremely cramped. Understanding the situation, I politely asked if I could wait a bit longer to be seated at a table that provided more space and privacy. To my surprise, the host responded with rudeness and insensitivity, suggesting that if I wasn't satisfied with the available table, I should leave the premises. It was clear that the restaurant was crowded due to Father's Day, but her dismissive attitude completely disregarded my well-being. As a result, I began to experience a panic attack, which made the situation even more distressing. Despite the ample number of unoccupied tables in the restaurant, the manager approached me without an apology, only to relocate me to a different table. The lack of acknowledgement of their mistake was disheartening, to say the least. To add insult to injury, the food itself was far from satisfactory. The Chilean Seabass that was served to me was severely overcooked and burnt, completely ruining the flavor and texture. Additionally, the vegetables that I had ordered were never brought to my table, making the overall dining experience even more disappointing. Considering the circumstances and the importance of Father's Day, I expected a much higher standard of service and attention to detail. Sadly, this restaurant failed to meet even the most basic expectations. The combination of the host's ignorance, the manager's lack of apology, and the subpar food quality has left me with no desire to ever return to this establishment. In conclusion, the restaurant's poor understanding of my needs, the disregard for my well-being, and the disappointing quality of the food have made it clear that this establishment does not prioritize its customers. I strongly advise against dining here, as there are undoubtedly better options available that will provide a more welcoming and enjoyable experience. read more

I think it's official: Rumi's Kitchen is now my go-to spot for the perfect weekend dining experience! Seriously, where do I even begin? The entire meal was incredible, and it started with the atmosphere. I arrived just after the midday rush, which allowed me to enjoy a calm, relaxing environment at one of their cozy high-top tables. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure I had everything I needed right from the start. They brought out some warm pita bread and a fresh salad as a starter, which set the tone for the meal. The pita was perfectly soft, and the salad was vibrant and refreshing, with just the right balance of flavors. I knew I wanted to branch out from my usual order and try something different this time, so I opted for the vegetable kabob--and wow, what a great choice! The kabob was packed with a variety of colorful, plump veggies, each grilled to perfection. The flavors were bold, and you could tell the ingredients were fresh. The vegetables practically burst with each bite, bringing a medley of smoky, earthy, and subtly spiced notes. Paired with the saffron rice, which was fluffy and infused with a rich, aromatic flavor, it was a perfect match. Despite feeling fully satisfied after the kabob, I saved just enough room to explore the dessert menu. The white chocolate cake immediately caught my eye; it sounded absolutely divine, and I just couldn't resist. Let me tell you, it was the best decision of the day. The cake was rich yet light, with a smooth, velvety texture and just the right amount of sweetness. It was beautifully presented, and each bite melted in my mouth, leaving a lingering hint of white chocolate. It was the perfect ending to a memorable meal. All in all, Rumi's Kitchen has officially become my favorite weekend spot. The combination of exceptional food, warm ambiance, and top-notch service makes it hard to beat. I already can't wait to come back next week and explore more of their amazing dishes! #ashsaidit read more

Our experience at Rumi's Kitchen was nothing short of appalling. A group of friends and I visited in the afternoon and were seated outside. Initially, our waitress (name Sammy P) seemed adequate, but the trouble began when it was time to settle the bill. We politely requested that the check be split into five separate bills so each of us could pay for our own meal. She responded by saying she would "try her best." When the checks arrived, they were a complete mess--orders were mixed up, and the totals were incorrect. Despite the confusion, we remained calm and simply asked for the bill to be divided equally into five even amounts. However, this approach proved unfair, as some friends who had only ordered appetizers ended up owing around $50, when their meals should have cost no more than $11-$15. It was unreasonable for them to pay so much more than their actual share. We kindly asked the waitress once more to correct the checks, but she refused, claiming she couldn't do anything about it. To make matters worse, she began speaking rudely about our group to her colleagues, openly calling us "ridiculous" within earshot. Left without any viable alternative, we reluctantly paid the split bill as it was. When I asked to speak with a manager, a blonde woman at the front of the restaurant directed me to someone she claimed was the manager. This individual, however, clearly wasn't in charge. As I explained the situation, she began laughing at me. When I confronted her, she dismissively said, "Hello? I'm not laughing," all while smirking. The lack of professionalism was staggering. Even other staff members passing by gave us disdainful looks, further adding to the unpleasant atmosphere. The service at this establishment was not only incompetent but blatantly disrespectful. To top it off, the food was mediocre at best--definitely not worth enduring such treatment. Do yourself a favor: avoid Rumi's Kitchen unless you enjoy being mistreated and deceived. read more

During my recent work trip to Atlanta, I had the pleasure of dining at Rumi's Kitchen, and it was an experience I won't soon forget. Nestled in the vibrant atmosphere of Avalon, the restaurant exudes warmth and sophistication. Despite the bustling crowd, my dining experience was seamless, thanks to the attentive staff. Upon entering, I was greeted by the friendly host who promptly seated me in the bar area, where the ambiance was lively yet relaxed. The open windows allowed the sunshine to filter in, creating a delightful al fresco feel. The service, led by servers like Allison, Devin, and Victor, was exemplary. Allison, in particular, went above and beyond in guiding me through the menu, ensuring I made the most delightful choices. Her personalized touch made me feel welcomed and valued as a guest. Now, onto the highlight - the food. Rumi's Kitchen certainly lives up to its reputation for exquisite Persian cuisine. From the diverse selection of rice platters to the succulent kabobs and flavorful seafood dishes like the sea bass, every bite was a culinary delight. The Soltani Combo Kabob, paired with grilled vegetables, was a standout, with each element perfectly seasoned and expertly cooked. What truly impressed me was the attention to detail in every aspect of the dining experience. The bar staff, including Devin and Victor, demonstrated an impressive knowledge of the menu, enhancing my appreciation for the flavors and textures of each dish. The cleanliness of the restaurant, from the neatly cleared tables to the immaculate bathrooms, further underscored the commitment to excellence here. In conclusion, my visit to Rumi's Kitchen was nothing short of exceptional. From the impeccable service to the delectable cuisine and inviting ambiance, it's evident why this establishment is a favorite among locals and visitors alike. I usually don't leave negative reviews, but I simply can't remain silent after the appalling experience I had last night. I visited with a group of friends, all of whom are in their mid-20s, excited to indulge in some good food and drinks after a long week. Upon ordering drinks, we were asked for our IDs which is totally reasonable. However, after scrutinizing our perfectly legitimate, government-issued IDs, the manager, Anabelle, made the audacious decision not to serve us alcohol. She patronizingly said she "had to trust her gut" and refused us service. What on Earth does that even mean? If trusting her gut means discrediting valid identification, then perhaps she's in the wrong line of work. It could have ended there, but no, Anabelle then felt the need to repeatedly make snarky comments about our group supposedly "faking our age". It was utterly humiliating and beyond disrespectful. My friends and I are young professionals and to be treated as if we were teenagers attempting some mischief was deeply demeaning. Furthermore, the evening was supposed to be a fun night out and instead, we were subjected to passive-aggressive comments and a ruined atmosphere. I come to restaurants to relax, enjoy good food and drink, and spend time with friends, not to be unjustly accused and belittled by staff. In a competitive industry where customer service is paramount, this restaurant failed spectacularly. Anabelle's lack of professionalism, judgment, and sheer tactlessness was a major disappointment. I will not be returning and urge others to think twice before choosing this place for an evening out. read more

Our visit to Rumi's Kitchen was an infuriating disaster. A group of us came in the afternoon, and while things started off fine, everything fell apart when it came time to pay. We asked our waitress to split the bill into five separate checks. She said she'd "try," but the result was a complete mess--nothing was accurate. We politely asked her to just divide the bill evenly instead, but this still wasn't fair, as some people in our group had only ordered small items, and their share skyrocketed to $50. When we asked her again to fix the mistake, she flat-out refused and started making rude comments about us to other staff members, loudly enough for us to hear. She called us "ridiculous" right in front of us. To make matters worse, when I asked for the manager, I was sent to someone who was not in fact in charge, who laughed in my face as I explained the issue. When I confronted her, she denied laughing but kept smirking like it was a joke. The entire staff was dismissive, condescending, and unprofessional. On top of that, the food was unimpressive and certainly not worth dealing with such bad treatment. Don't waste your time or money here. read more

I had the pleasure of visiting this wonderful spot in town, thanks to my mom who absolutely adores it. After experiencing it firsthand, I can wholeheartedly say that I've fallen in love with this place too. The restaurant's interior is a testament to elegance and beauty, with its tasteful decorations creating a truly captivating atmosphere. The attention to detail in the decor added to the overall charm of the place. The service was nothing short of impeccable. The staff made us feel genuinely welcome, and their attentiveness throughout our meal was exceptional. As for the food, it was a true culinary delight. The appetizers and main course were bursting with flavors, so much so that I found it nearly impossible to resist finishing every last bite. The chef's expertise was evident in every dish, making it a memorable dining experience. I'm already eagerly looking forward to my next visit to this gem of a restaurant on my next trip to town. It's a place that leaves a lasting impression, and I can't wait to savor those incredible flavors once again. read more

I recently dined at Rumis and must say it's excellent. The meal began with their hummus starter, which is an absolute must-try. Creamy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, it sets the tone for the rest of the meal. The protein dishes are truly outstanding. The chicken kebab, salmon kebab, and shrimp kebab are all succulent and cooked to perfection. Each bite is tender, juicy, and packed with bold, authentic flavors. Pairing these proteins with the variety of aromatic rice options elevates the entire experience, creating a perfect balance between textures and flavors. The restaurant itself is ideal for dinner, offering both indoor and outdoor seating. The ambience is warm and inviting, while the staff delivers excellent, attentive service that makes you feel right at home. Overall, this restaurant is a gem for anyone seeking a delicious Middle Eastern dining experience. Highly recommended for both casual nights out and special occasions! read more

Considering a new years eve spot ? Well, I can tell you Rumis would be a bad choice. A certain bartender there (D) ( name is similar to Devil ) has made his disdain for Rumis customers - regulars included- quite clear. I have heard comments he has made and witnessed the eye rolling and muttering . This in addition to the owner/manager who is a basket full of crazy. I would hate to be an employee of Rumis from the horror stories I have heard. If all this negativity starts at the top , it can only trickle down to the rest . Rumis is totally full of themselves - if you choose to spend money there beware that you must submit to potentially being told to shut the F up by the nephew manager (happened to a friend of mine ) , have security called on you for simply becoming ill after consuming a drink at their bar ( ditto ) , and being told to pay and leave NOW because we need the room for patrons Rumis prefers. read more

I notice all these glowing reviews of Rumis Avalon...all of which sound very contrived . Of course you had no wait to be seated : low demand these days at Rumis. It was a different story in the old days . Have you seen the health rating at the Avalon location lately? I wouldnt send my worst enemy there to eat. Actually , maybe I would LOL ! . I know someone who lives in Avalon and stated to me they saw a rat/mouse running along the wall just under the kitchen counter , it was running to the back towards the bathroom area. And also said they saw a blob of something on the floor around the bar seats and came back a month later and it was still there. And speaking of the bar - the chairs at the bar are filthy. The mexican ex wife running the place needs to go back to the vermin and roach infested mexican restaurant on Buford Hiway she apparently came from . Avoid Rumis - if you value your health. read more

This is where i had my very first date with my Girlfriend. So, the memories alone are priceless. But, beyond that, the food is great, tender, marinated and very healthy if u choose certain items. Also has great inside and outside seating, with a great calming and soothing atmosphere. The servers are also very friendly and attentive. The only downside is that it is always very busy. So, there are often wait times. I really hate to deduct one Star for this. But, it does effect the experience. Although, i wish them well and are glad that they are doing well. Its definitely worth the wait time. I personally just get anxiety when i have to wait a long time when im hungry. So, hopefully people who read this review read the whole thing. As, for most people, this restraunt is 5 Stars, and should be. I just deducted a star cuz of my personal anxiety issue with having to wait to eat. read more

It's clear that Rumi's is run with passion, integrity, and a true dedication to creating a meaningful dining experience. The food... absolutely exceptional. The thoughtful presentation make every bite memorable. My husband & I love the Chicken Barg & Beef Kobideh. All Their rice dishes are SoO yummy, especially the Shirin Polo! The beautiful smiles, and the warm welcome at the reception by Angela & Patan (@ The Avalon) are to Live for! We usually ask for Crystal to be our server (@ Sandy Springs or Colony Square). She makes our dining experience like a Seven Star Royal Treat. We appreciate all you very beautiful ladies SoO much. Thank you. Every time, my husband & I leave Rumi's @ all locations.. We're already looking forward to coming back. Highly recommended! read more

My wife and I finally visited Rumis Kitchen after contemplating for over six months and it was totally worth it. We were lucky enough to get a table outside and enjoy the beautiful weather and ambiance of the outdoor dining area. Our server, Brandon, was extremely knowledgeable about Persian cuisine and provided us with some great suggestions. We tried some new dishes and the flavors were amazing, leaving us with a memorable dining experience. Though my wife is usually hesitant to try new things, she was thoroughly impressed with Rumis Kitchen and can't wait to go back and tell her friends. Despite being a bit pricey, it's definitely one of the best places I've eaten in years. I highly recommend giving it a try, even if you've never tried Persian cuisine before. read more

Rumis Kitchen : A fake Persian restaurant run by a real Mexican. Has gone downhill since the divorce. The fatso (and her obnoxious nephew ) running things has dumbed down the wine list , cut back the menu , treated staff and customers horribly and generally taking what was created by her ex husband and run it into the ground . Customer got ill from a drink served them at the bar and was in the bathroom ill .... Fatso called security on the customer , pounded on the bathroom door, made them pay - in the bathroom ! - for the drink that made them ill and shoved them out the back door of the restaurant . Treated someone they made sick like a criminal . No concern or regard for the customer. This is the low class BS you will encounter at Rumis Avalon. read more

It was nice inside. We had to wait even with an Open Table reservation. The waitress spoke very low for a very loud restaurant but seemed knowledgeable about the food menu not at all about the wine menu and brought a warm bottle of Pinot Grigio to the table, opened it and then put it on ice. We tried the grilled shrimp which were a mission to cut out of the shell and very little, edible shrimp to actually eat once we had some success. I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass which they were out of so opted for the shrimp kabob over orange peel rice (I bet it would have gone well with the Sea Bass). My husband got the lamb shank with Lina beans and rice (tasty rice). We thought the place was going to have a few more unique menu options other than kabobs and rice read more

We had an absolutely wonderful dinner at Rumi's Kitchen in Alpharetta. From the moment we sat down, everything was exceptional. Our server, Brandon, was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. The sea bass was outstanding, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The hummus was some of the best we've had, incredibly fresh and delicious. We also enjoyed a wonderful white wine that paired beautifully with our meal. The atmosphere was lively yet comfortable, and every detail felt thoughtfully executed. This was one of those dining experiences that reminds you why people rave about Rumi's. We will definitely be back and will be asking for Brandon again! read more

This is hands down the best dining experience at Avalon. The restaurant is quite popular, so I highly recommend making a reservation. The bar is stunning, and the bartenders are exceptionally attentive. During my visit while pregnant, the staff went above and beyond to guide me through a variety of mocktail and non-alcoholic wine options. The food is absolutely delicious, with generous portions that are perfect for sharing. Dining outside under the lanterns and candlelight on a beautiful evening feels truly magical. The hummus is a standout and simply unbeatable. The waitstaff delivers impeccable service truly among the best in the Alpharetta area. I'll definitely be returning! read more
