I was in the area and I decided to check out the place. I ordered a platter and I now know why this place has such great reviews. The service is amazing and the food is spectacular. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Mediterranean food. I live about an hour away from here yet I would not hesitate to come here again read more

I was looking for some yummy Greek food before ending my work shift. This place was yummy. The service was very nice and he offered me some lentil soup while I waited for my platter to be ready. I enjoyed my chicken and rice, however they put some other meat in with it I wasn't so sure of. Also I ordered the meal to include rice. I didn't know there was already rice included or would have just gotten soul with it. Guy working was very very nice. Took a bit longer than I anticipated. Will go there again though! read more

We went here on a lark and were blown away by the food! The interior of the restaurant is unassuming and doesn't have too much character, but it's clean. We had the chicken shawarma and gyro, and they were amazing. The chicken was succulent and the vegetables were fresh, and the spices and sauces were amazing. We will definitely be getting food from here again! (Most likely delivery) read more

Love this place! Great tasting food, huge portions, and greAt price point! Easily get 2 meals out of 1 entree!

Rumi is fabulous !! We got lamb salad and lamb plate, very juicy and flavorful. Just right amount of fat and lean. Veggies are super fresh and basmati rice is aromatic. Must go!! Very friendly service, we got complimentary hummus with homemade olive oil and warm pita read more

This food is amazing and so are the lovely people who own Rumi! Eat there!!!

I ordered the chicken shwarma salad and the flavors of this dish is spot on! Love it.

Tried it for the first time last week, and the food was pretty good. Definitely going back to eat there when I'm in the neighborhood.

What an unexpected surprise, this little gem of middle eastern cuisine is fantastic. Came in for a quick bite and got falafel, shawarma and kofta Kabana, all were delicious and I should know, I am of middle eastern upbringing. Give it a try for a unique and different flavors. read more

Saw that Rumi had recently opened and being that I loved Middle Eastern food I wanted to try it out. I got the Chicken Schwarma plate with rice & sides & a soup. The owner was very polite & attentive to his customers. I used one of the Yelp Deals which made it both a filling and affordable meal. read more

Finally I found a great Mediterranean place! After all these places I've tried I have to say Rumi has one of the best falafel I've had outside Middle East...the salads are great also - the falafel is perfectly spiced, fresh and tasty ... The staff are so nice and welcoming - I can't wait to go back soon! read more

I love middle eastern food. Being that I work in the neighborhood I happened to casually walk by this gem one day. The staff is professional, the food is amazing, and best of all the portions are large and at a great price point. I recommend the chicken shawarma it has so much flavor. They also have great lentil soup. Very satisfied with the food and customer service! read more

Awesome! Chicken shawarma plate was amazing, portion sizes were big, and the staff was super nice. Definitely will go again

I live in Wicker Park and this is a gem. Excellent food! The meat is super tender and delicious. The staff is cool and Rumi is a great alternative to the many pizza and hamburger places in the neighborhood. Highly recommended. read more

This place is fantastic. Food is always on point and the service is always very personable. Highly recommend the Chicken Shawarma plate and falafel. My wife and I often come from the suburbs just for the food, and at the very least try to pick something up when we are in the area. read more

Just had lunch here today. Very good service and helpful staff. Loved the hummus and shawarma

Stopped in here while walking through wicker park and was pleasantly surprised. Ordering was a little awkward as the guy working the front couldn't hear very well and didn't explain everything quite completely. It wasn't bad customer service though, just miscommunication. I got a chicken shawarma pita and lentil soup. The lentil soup was good lentil soup. The pita was so fresh! Considering that it's the middle of winter it was so surprising to have every veggie be so flavorful and everything complemented each other. It was all very filling. Would go again. read more

Fresh, tasty, very reasonable priced food and the staff are very friendly. Would recommend and definite will be back

BEST Middle Eastern food in Chicago! I've been here multiple times and these guys deserve a great review. First off its super clean and it's easy to order. You pick your plate and or pita and then you get to fill it with what ever toppings you want. Picking out your toppings is great, everything is bright and on display right Infront of you. As your waiting for your food to cook (which is very quick) they offered me soup and falafel. This happens every time I go, so thoughtful!! I wish I lived closer so I could come here more often, it is amazing! I wish I took a picture but I was to excited and devoured my food before I even thought of doing so! Thank you guys for always being consistent, considerate and always making DELICIOUS, vibrant and flavourful food!! PS get the baklava, I almost drove back for round 2! read more

My go-to place for halal chicken kebabs, etc etc - the food quality has not disappointed yet!

Great Shawarma! This restaurant makes there dishes fresh. I go here all the time and it's consistently good. Definitely recommend. :)

I came across this place while deciding what to order via postmates. It was so incredibly good that I ordered it once again. Finally, I convinced my family to have this catered for our next family event. You didn't have to ask them twice to go grab seconds. Everyone LOVED the food and kept asking me where this place is located. Rumi does not disappoint- their food is amazing. I would recommend trying their baklava as well! read more

We stopped by today for lunch. It is a very pleasant, open and clean space. The menu had everything you would expect at a Middle Eastern restaurant. We both had the chicken schawarma, which was excellent as were the many sides that you can add to the dish. The service was friendly and efficient. The prices were reasonable. We will definitely be back. read more

Gyros, chicken kabobs, falafels are outrageously delicious! The ingredients are fresh and high quality. Prices are reasonable and so worth it! read more

I just want to say for my first time ever trying mediterranean food it was excellent as well as the friendly service. I Love the ambiance and I definitely will be back.. read more

Neither order came with the pita listed on the menu and there was more than one hair in the chicken shawarma, including one under the basmati rice. Disappointing and disgusting meal; don't order from here!! read more

The food is delicious and the service is great. This is my new spot for shawarma. All the ingredients were fresh and clean tasting, not oily or heavy like so many other places that serve this type of cuisine. Great job read more

Amazing quality and very reasonably priced! The staff is so welcoming and friendly. The food is plentiful and soo soo tasty. And I'm someone who is very picky about how my chicken tastes! This is a weekly must! read more

Really yummy and consistent. The chicken shawarma is my go to with a side of their delicious falafel. Also, the plates are really generous and can be shared depending on how hungry you are. read more

Staff is all very nice. The guys are all smiling and you can tell their hearts are in the right place. But you can also tell this is their first restaurant. The place is totally disorganized, so everyone looks kind of confused. You have to order through a thick pane of glass, so there's no way they can actually hear you. Each of us had to repeat everything a few times, and gesture and point a lot. I had the chicken shawarma and it was really just not good. I stopped eating it after a few bites. The hummus was bland - not terrible, but definitely nothing to rave about. A friend had the falafel and didn't like it at all - ate only one of the three. Wish these guys the best, but definitely won't be coming back. read more

Super fast delivery, fresh and tasty shawarma. The portions are huge and definitely a good value.

I've ordered from Rumi twice now through Uber Eats and while I ordered the exact same things, it's been a completely different experience each time. I'd call the 3-stars an average of my two orders. The first time, I was completely blown away. The gyro pita was stuffed full (and with the toppings you'd expect - onion & cucumber chunks, tzatziki sauce on the side). The chicken shawarma plate was a generous portion with well-grilled, well-seasoned meat along with a fantastic (and normal) Jerusalem salad. Everything came well-packed and with a smattering of sauces on the side - the spicy green sauce was to-die-for. The second time was earlier today, but nearly everything that was a positive the first time was a negative this go-round. The gyro pita had a pathetic amount of meat and the only topping was a bunch of green olives (wtf?). The chicken in the chicken shawarma plate was very soggy and strangely seasoned - not just overly salty but also some off-putting nutmeg taste . The portion was less than half of what I received in my first order. The Jerusalem salad was some weird cream-based thing. Since I enjoyed the green sauce so much I asked for extra this time, but they chose not to include ANY. After ordering once, I thought I had finally found my go-to Mediterranean place. After a second time and experiencing such drastic inconsistency, I doubt I'll be back. What an enormous disappointment. read more

Got the chicken salad and the falafel pita combo. Service was friendly and fast. Food is tasty! Falafels are good. Lentil soup is good. They even gave my girlfriend a sample of the soup to try. Everything seems well maintained; Bathrooms are super clean. Overall, i totally recommend the food and service. read more

This is the best chicken schwarma salad around-the pickles are THE BEST. But my roommate and I keep coming back because we love the employees. The family is so sweet to us! read more
