Gyro Plate

I opened my maps app and checked a 1.5 mile radius around this place and determined it is THE BEST quick lunch spot -- particularly if you consider the massive portion size for the money. The value is off the charts. The staff is incredibly friendly and the restaurant itself is very clean. Honestly thrilled to have this little gem of a restaurant in the neighborhood. What an incredible spot.

Falafel and grill is an amazing fast causal resturant with two locations in Chicago and a third on the way. I can't recommend this spot enough if you love Mediterranean food! The falafel wrap was one of a kind and it was so flavorful, one of the best I've had! All of the portions are huge! The come with hummus and salad which is always such a treat!!

Their food was good and flavorful! The service was fast, they have both counter service and a kiosk for ordering. The location was clean and the food came out quick! I love Mediterranean food, and although it was my first time trying falafel and grill...it won't be my last! They're located in a strip, so there's a parking lot!

Can't believe it took me this long to discover this place. Talk about a great combination of fast efficient clean and tasty. This place fires on all cylinders. I ordered a meat combination, a side of falafel and a cup of lentil soup. Everything was delicious. I'm from the Middle East and everything tasted authentic. The restaurant has a nice clean atmosphere and friendly service. It seems to be a busy spot frequented by lots of cab and uber drivers. This for me is usually the sign of a hidden gem. Restaurant is located on the southwest corner of Clark and Montrose in a busy strip mall. But there was available parking even on a busy night. I will absolutely be coming back and strongly recommend for quality authentic middle eastern food.

It is a serviceable sandwich, I have not tried their shawarma so this is for the falafel only, which was good.

Dresscode: Smart Casual / Casual Noise Level: Medium (it gets buzzy after 5:30pm) Thursday night Happy Hour was lively, so it took about 10-15 minutes for someone to come around, but service was attentive once we got going. The food is where Ēma really shines. From the Happy Hour menu, the Charred Eggplant Hummus and Crispy Potatoes were generously portioned and great for sharing. On the main menu, the Indian-Mediterranean fusion Bhel Hummus was a party for my taste buds, while the Hot Honey Halloumi and Chicken Kefta rounded out the table nicely. The halloumi is more of a side than a main, but that sweet-and-salty hot honey combo was chef's kiss. For our finisher, the Chocolate Torte knocked us out. Decadent, delicious and chocolate with lots of depth. Overall, Ēma is an excellent spot to order a bunch of dishes for the table and get an elevated meal without feeling stuffy, and delicious without taking itself too seriously. DO's: - Make a reservation ahead, especially for happy hour 4-6pm - Treat apps like small plates, order 2-3 to sample - Entertain their wine list, they have a lot! - Bring vegetarians here, there are plenty of options DON'Ts: - Dismiss the desert menu. It's fantastic and shareable! - Forget to ask for extra pita with the hummus! - Miss out on the LettuceEats loyalty points (check-in with your server before paying your check)

The food is good, but I don't like that the portions have gotten smaller with the price staying the same. I've added pictures to show the difference. It's your typical kind of ambiance for a place like this--clean but not at all sterile. A welcome quiet spot in the chaos of Wicker. Aside from the delicious, comforting food, the service is incredible. It is rare to find spots like these nowadays and I sincerely hope the CAVA heads (don't get me wrong, I love CAVA!) try this out, too. We were accidentally charged for two orders of dolma when we ordered one, but I didn't realize. The person who took the order--wearing a propellor hat, by the way (hello whimsy!)--walked over to our table to let us know and asked if we'd like a refund and apologized. This already took me by surprise, so while I was fine without it, I said "sure." Next thing I know, they walk over with still two orders of dolma and the refund. I looked for a tip jar to put it back but couldn't find one. It was such an act of kindness and generosity. The kind of small interaction that reminds you of what being human is all about. Any time I'm in Wicker, I will try and stop at this place. Reminds me so much of Bulgaria and the "" I'd always beg for as a kid. 10/10 -- please support this independent restaurant!

The restaurant commands a sense of scale and elegance that immediately impresses. The interior is impeccably designed and spotlessly clean, featuring sophisticated private seating areas, beautifully arranged tables, and an extraordinary collection of fine wines lining the walls. The hospitality was top-tier from the moment I arrived attentive, polished, and effortlessly gracious. To start, I ordered the "Fire and Smoke" cocktail, which arrived artfully crafted, perfectly balanced, and thoroughly sensational. For my main course, I selected one of my absolute favorites: the Spanish Octopus. When the dish was served, the aroma alone was divine, and the execution proved to be an absolute culinary triumph tender, exquisitely seasoned, and full of rich, sophisticated flavor. Between the immaculate environment, vibrant atmosphere, superb libations, and flawless service, The Purple Pig earns full marks from me. A quintessential destination I shall most certainly be returning

It took her a while to acknowledge me standing there, and when she finally asked how she could help, I mentioned I had a reservation and began giving my name. She cut me off with, 'Please wait, I'm very busy.' After another five minutes, she finally took my name and asked my family and me to step fully outside, saying someone would come get us. We were finally seated fifteen minutes later--only after watching another party of three walk in without a reservation and get seated immediately. The appetizers and entrees were good, and our waiter was attentive, even apologizing for the rough start at the host stand. Things seemed to be turning around until we tried to order dessert. Despite being more than forty minutes from closing, our waiter returned to tell us, 'The chef refuses to make any more desserts.' This was that rare restaurant visit where the food itself was solid, but we won't be back. The service made it abundantly clear that our presence was an inconvenience.

The platter also comes with a basket of pita bread! Combo mix grill #1: For my entree I got the mixed grill and chose both beef and lamb koubideh as my proteins. I really couldn't tell which meat was which since the meat is ground but both were super delicious otherwise. Great flavor.
