Got the gyro wrap. For basically 15 bucks it was a small portion. Barely made me full. The gyro wrap was easily the smallest I've ever gotten in the city of Chicago. Nothing special about the taste. Taziki sauce was bland. Tomato's tasted old. The guy who took my order was not friendly and even though I got there around 8:15. He was acting as if I interrupted his cell phone time. Everything the staff made was excellent and you could tell they put a lot of care into it. At first glance when we went in the prices looked a little high but once we had our food there were no complaints - the prices felt spot on and the food was undeniably tasty. We ordered a chicken schwarma wrap and a falafel pita, opting for the up charge for the pita. Both sandwiches were great but the wrap was definitely a bit better and made pretty good leftovers later. We had the fries too and they were amazing, hot, and salty. If you go for a quick lunch pad in a few extra minutes as they make the food fresh so it did take a little longer than I was expecting, but the wait was worth it. read more

This is THE BEST Middle Eastern restaurant in this area hands down!!! And what makes them stand out the most compared to the other ones nearby is 1) the number of spices they use for their meats 2) they have pickles for their plates which most Middle Eastern joints don't use 3) they grill a couple of vegetables which most places do not 4) they use fresh pita bread warmed up for you 5) they use authentic rice (most places nowadays are using the cheap rice). I came in thinking I was going to get a decent meal but I was taken by surprise at how amazing the meal was! Even their garlic sauce was so good and not too garlicky! The right amount of red onion, tomato and pickles with tahini sauce made this wrap, surprisingly the best I've had. Little pricey but worth every bite. If you order fries, plan to share. Pita Express hits all the right marks for Middle Eastern fast cuisine. Great hummus, falafel, schwarma, fries, etc. The folks here are nice, courteous, and efficient. I used to go to Zam Zam, which I still recommend, but no longer need to venture outside of the neighborhood. PE is right outside of the brown line station and off route 50, so getting here is convenient. Parking isn't really a problem either. read more

I stopped in about a month ago, when I was getting over a cold. I was looking forward to the healing medicine of lentil soup. And the image I had in mind was Pita Inn in Glenview. Unfortunately the lentil soup was very thin and watery. And the chicken shawarma I got was also small. The prices however were not small, given what I was used to at Pita Inn. This place is convenient, right off the Damen stop. Staff is so nice and gave us some hot sauce for our meal. All of the sauces are incredible, but the hot sauce is a stand out. The owners of Pita Express did a wonderful job renovating and updating this location by the Damen Brownline stop. The inside looks wonderful, and they now have a very cute outdoor patio area. The food is terrific. I tried the chicken shawarma wrap meal and my wife had falafels and hummus. Everything was prepared wonderfully. The staff were attentive and friendly. Being originally from the burbs, I think I have found a Mediterranean restaurant on par with Pita Inn near my home. They are such a welcome addition to the neighborhood. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys Mediterranean food. read more
