Combo w/chicken Kifta, beef Kifta, Persian rice, hummus, cucumber, tomato, red onion salad & hot pita bread

06/30/26 - Kabobi Grill as always excellent food & service. They use to be around the corner on Kedzie Ave just south of Lawerence Ave. Now they're on LAWERENCE just east of Kedzie Ave. Same great food super lunch specials that are always 2 meals. Today I ordered the chicken & filet kabobs w/dill rice. Served w/a cucumber, tomato & onion salad, excellent hummus & a piece of toasty pita bread.

Kabobi never disappoints! This was our first time inside the new location on Lawrence. The service was great, the food was ready in no time! The portions seemed even bigger at the restaurant! I ordered the chicken kebab and rice with sour cherries. So delicious and so worth the extra charge. Every entree is shareable which definitely makes it worth the money!

We stopped by as a group of 5 for dinner Sunday night and we were promptly seated. We visited Chicago for St. Patty's, but my two Persian friends were eager to show us some authentic food and Kabobi did not disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious and I particularly loved the Shami and Koubidehs. The koubidehs were so tender and juicy. The service was phenomenal and they even brought us some tea and dessert (bamieh) for free. Kabobi is open late and was the perfect spot to chat while the rain died down. Definitely coming back when I'm in Chicago next time!

Kabobi was such a good pick for iftar. We came about 30 minutes before iftar and even though it was super packed, everything came out right on time, which I really appreciated. They also have a Ramadan special going on, which made it feel even more festive. The food came out warm, fresh, and full of flavor. Everything tasted really good and satisfying after fasting. The service was also great despite how busy it was, and the staff handled the rush really well. Definitely recommend making a reservation the day of, especially during Ramadan, because it gets busy fast. Overall, a really solid spot for iftar with tasty food, good service, and a nice Ramadan atmosphere.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a spot to eat after an event, and the place we were planning to go to initially had its kitchen closed. We were looking up a nearby restaurant and came across Kabobi. Omg. Hands down the best Mediterranean food I've ever had. We ordered either the Mixed Grill #1 or #2, and everything was so tender, juicy, and flavorful. I'm not usually a big fan of chicken, but this was honestly the best chicken I've ever had!! It was also our first time trying bamieh, and they gave us tea and the bamieh on the house. Both were absolutely delicious!!! What a great combination. This is a spot we think about often, and we definitely need to make a trip back. Our wish is for Kabobi to open up in the burbs! Interior is simple and spacious, and everyone there is very friendly. I'm looking forward to my next visit to Kabobi!!

Amazing service and generous portions of food, like you will have multiple meals of food for one dish. We ordered a lamb biryani and the spinach beef stew. Both were delicious and flavorful! We were with friends and at the end of our meal, they brought out free tea and a free Persian dessert for us to have, which were really nice. They didn't rush us at all and kept bringing tea and dessert! So 100/10 on hospitality and service.

Ambiance - casual, great for large groups Service - you are first seated down, then you have to go back up to the front counter to order & they give you a number to place on your table Food - massive food portions & definitely recommend sharing, saffron butter chicken was super creamy

I came here late at night wanting something filling, and this place did not disappoint. The prices seemed like a lot, but the portions were even more. We got the mixed grill with lamb and chicken. The meats were super tender and just melted in your mouth. To pair it with all the rice, vegetables, butter, and naan that it's served with only made it that much better. I don't think any place could top this for authentic, delicious Persian food. The desserts were also amazing. This might have been the best baklava I've ever had. It was perfectly flaky, not too sweet, but done beautifully. We also wanted to try the Zulbia, which is just like a funnel cake with honey on top. It was pretty good, but the sweetness quickly took over and made it difficult to finish since it was covered with sugar. The restaurant itself was buzzing. Especially late at night, when everything around the area is closed, Kabobi was filled with people just filling out the atmosphere. The restaurant itself is just one really big dining room, so you'll feel like part of a mass of people, but the large windows make it feel a little outdoorsy too. The service was great, our food came pretty quickly, and our server was very nice.

Kabobi Grill is one of my top if not my favorite mediterranean restaurant in Chicago. It sits within a melting pot of a community. The food is made to order and is always fresh. There is really nothing that compares. Service is always on point to give you desserts, refill on hot tea and water. The dishes are huge and the ambiance of this place remind me of being in Turkey. The food is full of flavor both meats as well as desserts. This has to be a place you must bring your family. Spacious seating arrangement for up to 20-30 people.

I like to visit this place, great choice of authentic Iranian food. Tea is also in another level. Would recommend everyone to try this place.

Good Persian option with huge prices. The stews tasted good but I think Noon O Kabob across the street is my favorite. This place is still very popular and gets busy.

Absolutely fantastic experience at Kabobi every time! The restaurant is always bustling and is my go-to whenever I am feeling Persian food. It really feels like a central meeting spot for the community and I love that. The prices are very reasonable given the portion sizes, and I just wish I lived closer. When you arrive, you order at the counter, get a table number tag, and eventually a server will bring you the food. Firstly, the portion sizes are gigantic. I genuinely believe that one of their regular entrees can feed me for 3 meals. After a long day, my friends and I decided to get a family platter for 4 and that was such a fantastic decision. You get a hummus, salad, and 8 skewers of meat on top of a mountain of rice. Everything was so flavorful! Out of all the meats, the filet mignon is probably my favorite, although the lamb koubideh is a close second. The chicken breast is shockingly not dry and delicious as well. If I had to pick one thing to nitpick, it would be that the pita bread is not very soft and feels a bit tough. Of course, we didn't finish and had multiple boxes of food to take home but I honestly think that's part of the experience (the joy of having too much food). I will definitely be back! Food: 4.5/5 Price: 4.75/5 Ambiance: 4.5/5 Overall: 4.5/5

Lamb Shish Kabob Late Night (Lamb Chengeh)
    Sheila P.

10 stars if I could. My only complaint is that they don't have a location in my hometown! Needed to grab a late dinner after our flight was delayed so we of course came here. Their late night hours always come in clutch! It was almost 11pm and the restaurant was PACKED. That didn't change the quality of the food though! We ordered off the late night menu, which is basically the same as their regular menu, just "smaller portions" that were still massive. The lamb was seasoned and grilled to perfection. It was also one of the most tender cuts of lamb I've ever had! Juicy and literally just perfect. We got our food fairly quickly despite the crowds and ever got complimentary tea afterwards! I know good Persian food when I see it and this ALWAYS good Persian food!

The place is beautiful with a lively terrace on nice days but also a very open and bright interior with modern decor. We were seated right away at a table off to the side of the bar area. We must have waited like 15-20 minutes before anyone even realized that we were there. It seemed as though none of the servers running around serving other tables around us had our table to service. Eventually we caught the attention of who I can only imagine was a manager or supervisor who finally came over to take our orders. We ordered the Smokey garlic hummus which fresh pita bread and this was very good. We also ordered the crispy potatoes and the Brussel sprouts as a side. These were also nice and crispy and the brussel sprouts had a tasty kick with the harissa honey. For our main we had the chicken kebab which was perfectly cooked and tender, braised short rib (not as good), and the shawarma skirt steak frite. We quite enjoyed our meal and everything very fast which more than made up for the initial delay in service. For dessert we decided to share a frozen Greek yogurt with Olive Oil and sea salt. This had an interesting taste with a tanginess at the end. I'm not sure I would order this again but you could tell the Greek yogurt was of very good quality. All in all we enjoyed our meal at Aba and would definitely come back if in town.

I ordered the short ribs, which cost $35 and the portion was extremely small. One of the pieces was also mostly fat, leaving very little actual meat. For the price, I expected a much better-quality dish and a more satisfying portion. Overall, the experience did not live up to the restaurant's reputation or pricing. Made last minute reservations for brunch next day after the infamous architecture tour. It was quiet as we've put in an early morning. All the more better to savor all intricate dishes from start to finish. Like the name, The Purple Pig, their specialty is pork dishes so majority of our orders were this. Daily special of the bone marrow bacon jam toast - glazed, slippery off the bone, savory and sweet. Always love a good bone marrow dish to get the sweetness off it. This was so good that there were bits of the marrow and jam left stuck to the bone, I took a piece of the toast and scooped the bone dry. Nothing left for anyone to attack this. Non pork dishes were the Mushroom 3 ways and Spanish octopus. Mushroom dish was savory with all the coated sauces elevating this. Spanish octopus was kicked lightly and easily can bite in to enjoy the tender and charred portions. But the award went to my main course - the braised pork shoulder with saffron, apricots and Swiss chard. Aside from the rippable pork meat when dining on it, the sauces fused together on this dish elevated it and had everyone coming back for more. I needed an official Chicago culinary experience and found it at The Purple Pig without a doubt.

This dish was truly unique. 5/5 Grilled Halloumi Meze - delicious cheese with olives and garlic bread. 4/5 Stuffed Eggplant - savory and creamy dish which actually might be even better served hot. 5/5 Calamari Meze - Excellent and tender. Not chewy at all which was nice. There were a ton of olives which I didn't think complimented the calamari. Overall, still 5/5. Mushroom Tava - mushrooms were cooked perfectly and were delicious. One of my favorite dishes of the night. 5/5 Stuffed Mushrooms - this dish fell flat on flavor and had more of the typical mushroom texture. 3/5 The Hunkar entrée initially was extremely salty. I mentioned this to the waiter and they remade it, which turned out great, so I'm hoping the salty dish was a one-off. 5/5 Our waiter was very friendly and attentive throughout. The restaurant itself is also casual upscale, so nice for most occasions. Avaspi exceeds expectations and I highly recommend this excellent Mediterranean restaurant.
