I was do excited to try this Uyghur cuisine! We got the very dense and aromatic mixed fruit tea that's served in a large pot with a mini candle underneath. Dough appetizers that you dip in yogurt was a wonderful experience. The Plov lamb and rice dish was very flavorful. The sliced tomatoes with dill was also delightful and had a different taste that wants me to get more. The lamb shorpo taste similar to other dishes I've tried which was also very pleasant. The service didn't speak much English which was fine for me but my mother who has too many questions was left with much unanswered ones lol. If you are a picky eater or want to know whether the meat is kosher or sugar is organic, then maybe avoid this place. But if you are a true food adventurer, this place will open up your buds to wondrous encounters. read more

Passed by this place a week before going, was bored on a Sunday and decided to give it a shot. First of all, I am well aware of the stuff happening to the Uyghurs, for years and years. And to finally try their food, was a blessing. We got the borsch, lamb kurda, manti(dumplings) and boso lagman. Scrumptious and Mammoth portions, at crazy bargain prices. The meat was so tender and it seems all they used was salt, which was PERFECT. I loved it. The server was a little cold to us in the beginning but he warmed up. This was the best meal I have had in a while. Our server was so kind. It was our first time in so she showed us a menu with photos to help us decide on our dishes. She even brought us boorsok on the house to try. There's a button on the table you can press to call your server which is nice as it was pretty busy. The food was excellent. Fresh. Huge portions. Our order came with complimentary fried dough (believe it's called boorsok) which was perfect for snacking while waiting for the main dishes. We ordered the Plov, Manti, Dapanji, and Flatbread. Uyghur and Kyrgyz, both devastating and improper scrabble words, got together on a plate and made a delicious fare in this humble excellent restaurant. I haven't had it all yet, and honestly may not get around to the whole menu for a while because the first meals have imprinted a craving in my being for them. It is impossible to deny that the portions are generous and the flavors are highly satisfying. The regular Lagman and the Bosa fried Lagman are equally good, flip a coin and enjoy. Also, no need to select between fried and steamed Manti, you can order a combo and again there is no difference in quality, so let your preferences guide you. Goulash is familiar but has a huge, pardon my ignorance, Chinese sense of flavor that adds a twist to the dish. Olivie Salad is a famously varied dish and their version is excellent with a mild combo of potato, beef, vegetables and mayo provide that light and cool but very substantial feel. My favorite surprize was the Ginger Lemon tea, served in a pot with long tea leaves and slices of the ginger and Lemon provided the secret ingredient for both cutting through the rich dishes and briefly but effectively defying the soporific effect of the bounty and let me eat more than usual and drive home without dozing off. The service was outstanding. The digs are modest but cozy. It is often crowded with people very familiar with the food and culture. So go. read more

Interior decor and atmosphere reminds me of Central Asian towns. Food is fresh and very tasty and prices affordable. Meat-lovers will like it there. Their menu is still being in development. I ordered Beef Stroganoff and it was great. My friend ordered Goulash. The portions were very generous. Tasted very fresh and rich in flavors without overwhelming and stays on the light side. I hope they are making money and stay around for as long as possible as I will keep going back! One note would be they charge you for the food but expect you tip in cash. We needed a table for 9 people; Once we arrived we were greeted and walked to our table right away they had already prepared for us since the initial phone call. I would go back just for the tea and berries. Its black tea so it does have caffeine but I highly recommend it. The menu is very bereft of details so you probably want to look up photos if you can but notably the confusion was around the difference with the lagman. One is fried, one has the ingredients and the sauce/vegetables served separately and one seems more like a soup. Speaking of soups I really liked the dumpling. The beef broth is excellent. The restaurant is very casual and is clearly popular with the Uyghur diaspora since it was packed when we went later at night for dinner. Our sever only spoke some English but we made do just fine. Complimentary traditional bread with dipping sauce hot - right out of the oven. We all had soup--AMAZING fresh herbs perfectly seasoned and the tea.....OH BOY.....best tea ever! Lemon Ginger and Berry Tea comes in BIG glass pitchers ---always hot because the stand has a tea candle. Made with fresh herbs and fruit. WHAT A GREAT ATMOSPHERE and FANTASTIC FOOD! We came and tried out this place after seeing it on Yelp. Ordered lamb shorpa and borscht. Tha lamb shorpa is a huge bowl compared to the borscht. Very bland and salty. The steaks were drier than expected but was good for $24 each. They didn't have the T-bone steak at the time. Food took a lot of time to come out. Overall, the ambiance is nice and cozy. Absolutely best beef dumpling soup I've ever had this restaurant is so adorable. The staff are so cute and nice and the food is incredible. They give you these small puffs of bread with a yogurt sauce which is just so delicious. I've never seen anything like it and then bring a bottled water and the beef dumpling soup comes with sour cream. The broth is incredible. It is so well flavored the beef dumplings are perfect size. Well priced ! this place is heaven on earth and I cannot wait to come back and try everything else. I highly highly highly recommend. It is absolutely delicious. I am always open to trying new foods. I have no other Uighur food reference to compare this to, hence the 3 stars because I didn't want to leave too low a review if this is typical of the food. The server was helpful, though we were only one of two tables in the restaurant mid week at lunchtime. As for the food, having no other frame of reference, I have to say it left me pretty unimpressed. The portions were plentiful, but it really was bland, virtually flavorless. We tried the dumplings which weren't bad, but again lacking in flavor. Then we tried the Uighur "pizza" which again wasn't awful, but very bland. I guess I was expecting something that left an impression. I will say that the tea I found good and flavorful. I may give Uighur another try, perhaps another place for comparison. Enjoyed this new Central Asian restaurant close to my house. The food was a good value and easy.

This is a brand new restaurant from a genre of food I have never experienced but absolutely worth the trip. Tucked away in a corner of the city you don't go to by chance is a nicely appointed restaurant. Upon entering we were promptly greeted and seated given menus and started looking over the choices. There are no pictures on the menu, the names of the dishes are somewhat familiar. The server gave us a few minutes to go over the menu before coming over and offering to explain the menu to us. She was so kind and patient and answered all of our questions, she made some recommendations that we decided to go with. Fried manti, a delicious fried dumpling with a well seasoned beef and onion filling. Boso lagman, a fried noodle dish with beef, green and red peppers the noodles were very good and tasted house made, they were served in a light tomato sauce and I would absolutely order again. The Plov is a spiced rice dish served with lean chunks of lamb on top. The server brought us some complimentary berry compote drink sweetened lightly with honey and some fried beignets served with a thinned out clotted cream. The serving sizes were massive, each order was enough for 2 people with hearty appetites. Was intrigued after looking up what this cuisine was and I wasn't disappointed! The prices to the portions were very generous. I had a lamb stew (lamb kurdek)and my girlfriend had a beef with 100000 ft round noodles dish (Lagman). The waitress must have realized we had never had Uyghur cuisine before and she brought out for us to try a chicken Samsa which is basically a empanada, it was delicious! They also brought out these little puff pastries that tasted like fried dough and I have to say I ate way tooooo many after my meal!! The waitress and staff were very attentive and gracious to share items we would have never thought of ordering! Please try them out so they stay open!!! Unique dining experience in a town with every cuisine imaginable. We love the spices and quality of the food. The cold beef salad was a favorite. Service was great even with some language barriers. The ambience is the one area that could use some improvement... crowded tables and uncomfortable chairs... but it also added to the upbeat atmosphere to have fellow diners close. What a find this restaurant was! Very delicious and reasonably priced food that is a blend of central Asian and Mediterranean, served in very generous portions. (Plan on taking some of your entree home.) My wife and I had the chicken roaster and fricasse chicken, but what stole the show was the unique fruit-infused tea they serve plus the excellent service. They are willing to moderate the spiciness of the food to individual tastes, and the wait staff could not have been more attentive and patient in answering questions.
