    Combination Doner Bowl
    Jose C.

This was my first time trying doner. Ive had my fair share of gyros, and what Mexican hasn't had Al pastor off the trompo, but never this type of Turkish style. I placed an order online for a combination diner bowl. It came with beef & lamb and chicken with lettuce, tomato, red cabbage, white garlic sauce, red pepper sauce and bulgur instead of rice. This is a new one for me. It's a healthier grab than rice and was very unique. Overall the bowl was delicious. It was very flavorful, but definitely on the pricier side. Would I order it again? Absolutely.

SO. GOOD. Back when I lived in Tokyo, I'd always go to this Turkish kebab stand after a night out. It was truly a no-frills shop and the only thing on the menu was their 500 Yen doner kebab sandwich-- but it was so fucking delicious. Doner 97's beef & lamb sandwich absolutely reminded me of that place. The pita pocket was warm and toasty, and there was so much beef & lamb packed into it along with some veggies that added a nice cronch. And the sauce! Omg the sauce was so fucking good! I'd buy a bottle of that for sure if they sold it. Let's not forget about the stellar service. The guy at the counter was so friendly! We'll definitely be back for sure!!

It's rare to find Doner places around where I live so I was super excited to see this place. Doner was good, have had better, could've been more veggies in it. Overall decent experience.

The best Doner I have had in the US. Simply the best. My brother and I had it yesterday afternoon and made sure to swing back before we left town for one more!

Just checked out this brand new spot on Clark street and it was yummy! Everything was SO flavorful and the menu items were unique. I loved the Kumpir, I've never had anything like it before and I'm so glad I got to try it. The Doner sandwich with chicken and lamb were both delicious. I can't wait to visit again

Stopped in for the first time to grab a Beef/Lamb bowl to go. The bulgur is a healthier rice. The bowl was filling and so yummy! Had enough for leftovers. A nice alternative to my typical chipotle bowl. I will definitely be back!

Food and service were 5/5. Will be going back. I had the doner original sandwich and fries. Both were A1.

Hubby came back from Berlin and has been craving Doner kebab ever since. Enter Doner 97. Hubby tried the juicy cuts of meat & amazing thin, crispy bread & killer sauce and is no longer scouring the city for this dish. So so good. Only wish would be to add more meat to the pita sandwich :)

Doner 97 was great. I got the sandwich to try the bread and let me tell you I can't wait to go back. The sandwich was filling and every bite was full of flavor. The meat was great, the bread was soft, yet sturdy and all the ingredients tasted very fresh. Make this your next meal!

Ahh! This used to be New York Pizza Style, remember that? The first location in the country. The staff and service is wonderful.

    Döner sandwich and döner bowl.

Food and service were great. Portion sizes are large. We will definitely go back next time we're in Chicago.

Extremely good food! The best Döner I've ever had. Their sandwich is packed with flavor and sauce. Good amount of meat for the price!

Food was burnt. I hope they fix things in the kitchen and turn it around. Service was very friendly, but you have to get the food right.

Very expensive for what you get. But it tastes pretty good. Don't expect European style döner though but it ain't that far off.

It's a small room but compensated by a nice outdoor patio. At the same time, eight folks is not a problem for these guys to handle. Eight is a most perfect number for us. The rules are simple. Divide up your entree. As each plate passes, drop a portion and pass it on. If you really don't like something, either give it back, find someone at the table who wants it or just finish it anyway. Now you know what to order next visit, when it's just the two of you. The food here is surprisingly good. Not a bad dish on the menu and no shortage of smiles from the staff. Our waitress started off a bit rocky, but really brought it around and rocked the place. Two words, BIG TIP (even though we made her job easier). The steins stayed full and the other drinks flowed very nicely. Everyone ate and drank like kings and enjoyed our last night together. The bill for the evening I'm told was only $300 for 8 guests. Factory in the heavy drinking, I'd say that was more than reasonable. 08/25

The reviews advertised authentic German food. As a German I had to try it. The potato pancakes were a good start, tasted like mom used to make. The Platter had a lot of food. I don't know what region this place is from, the sauerkraut and Blaukraut were not Bavarian, the Spätzle felt ready made and not home made. The Bratwurst was too fine for me, I'm thinking north German. The strudel was good tho. The service was fantastic! From host to server they took care of me and made sure I wanted for nothing, so I can't complain there. Decor wise this looks like what you'd imagine a German restaurant looking like in the US. Lots of banners advertising beer and German flags hanging on the walls with a collection of steins everywhere you look. Overall it's not "authentic" for me, but the food tasted good and the service was exceptional.

The mushroom and kale pie was nice and cheesy and the rocking vegan pie was more savoury, with a variety of vegetables and chickpeas as stuffing. The crust was neither too soft nor too crunchy. The highlight of the meal was the curry chips: potato wedges lightly fried with masala and curry leaves. The dipping sauce that came with the chips reminded me of tikka masala sauce, and paired beautifully with the chips. Dessert was toffee pudding: the caramel sauce that came with the pudding was delectable - the pudding itself was excellent and not overly sweet. We tried a variety of NA beers, and I was pleased with how many options they had. Service was quick, and we were well looked after. The ambiance is warm, with dim-ish lighting and a lot of dark wood. The chicken pie I think really needed the chutney that you can get separately. But that made it so much better and made it my preferred pie. The steak and ale pie was better than the chicken pie as a standalone, but needed a bit more gravy I think to elevate it. Sticky toffee pudding again was delicious. Surprisingly light, not overly dense so I was glad it came with the custard which was very flavorful. Overall, will definitely return!

Sour Rye Soup: Not bad, but honestly, I wouldn't order it again... the fermented sourness was just too direct and intense. Polish Hunters Stew: Apparently a national dish of Poland. The first bite tasted like Italian meat sauce, with a rich tomato flavor and a slight smoky aroma; then I discovered the ingredients included sausage, cured beef brisket, minced meat, and sauerkraut, making it quite substantial and much more satisfying than Italian meat sauce. Overall, it was a rich, sweet and sour flavor, perfect with rice, pasta, or bread. Sauerkraut & Mushroom Pierogi: Dumplings, but the Polish version. The sauerkraut was only slightly sour, refreshing and delicious with the mushrooms, while the sour cream added a touch of creaminess and richness. Unfortunately, the skin was thick and sticky, as if it had been boiled for a long time. For better dumplings skin, please turn to a Northeastern Chinese. Half Duck: Strangely, it reminded me of confit de canard. The meat was incredibly tender, falling off the bone with a gentle pull; the melt-in-your-mouth texture was truly delightful. The cranberry sauce was perfectly balanced between sweet and sour, with a rich fruity and fermented aroma. The rosemary emerged in the aftertaste, enriching the flavors and cutting through the richness. The accompanying sauerkraut was even better than the duck, with a crunchy texture and a mild, pleasant sourness, enveloped in a rich buttery and creamy flavor. The accompanying fpotatoes were also soft and delicious, but the roasted pear was too overpowering in its softness and sweetness, not meeting my expectations for a palate cleanser. Table Bread: The bread itself was unremarkable, but the generous amount of butter was commendable. I cannot believe that there is only one server for all the tables.
