Amazing falafel sandwich. Ordered delivery and have to say this is the best one I've had, ever. Mamouns in NYC was my gold standard up until now. Can't wait to order from here again in the future! read more

Literally best falafel I've ever had. The cucumber was fresh and crunchy and the falafel patties... good lord, you could really taste the seasoning. Incredible. Place is clean, staff is friendly. Amazing. I wish I lived in Chicago so I could go back. read more

I had one bad delivery from here and they worked to remedy the situation immediately! i've ordered from here numerous times after my one experience and it's been perfect! the food has been very good! I highly recommend for good food at a decent price! read more

I ordered a pick up from this place, just randomly walking by it because it smelled really good I got their chicken shawarma salad with the garlic sauce which is AWESOME. The chicken shawarma was really tasty and flavorful and tender. The salad part was awesome too, they added cucumber yogurt salad to the romain and the onion with the red sumak. It was really good, they also gave me a falafel to try while standing in line and that was a mouthgasm- it was very fresh, crispy on the outside and warm and fluffy on the inside. I also tried their baklava which was awesome too, not overly sweet to the point of automatic diabetes like other places, it was perfect. read more

Have been on the search for a spot like this for a while! Found this place on Yelp and will most definitely be coming back! Warm and friendly service, food is insanely fresh and flavorful! Got the chicken schwarma pita and my girlfriend got the chicken kabob plate. They were sampling the falafel which was also insanely good! The ambiance in here feels like you're eating with family but also very hip. So happy to have found this place! read more

I was looking forward to this after reading the reviews, but our bowls were pretty lacking and not very tasty. The baklava was good though

We love this restaurant! The chicken kabob plate and shawarma plate are incredible! So flavorful and always good! The meat is always tender and never dry, the garlic sauce is incredible. It's our go to takeout spot! read more

Located 2 blocks east of the Damen Blue line on Milwaukee ave. I ordered a chicken shawarma pita (cost $7.66 with tax). Overall pretty tasty but could have used more sauce and toppings. For a city that's becoming saturated with Mediterranenan food (which is awesome), competition is fierce. That being said, I wasn't blown away hence my 4 star rating. We stopped in because we were craving west-asian food. My spouse had the falafel pita & I had the chicken shawarma pita & falafel-side. The tahini sauce was one , if not the best we've ever had; we both commented on how good it was!! The consistency was a little thicker & did not have any acidity as in most other restaurants. Everything was delicious; however the "falafel" on top was that the falafel (3 pieces) I order came with four pieces. Since there were two of us, the cook added the extra piece. Thanks, it is the little things... ... We will definitely be going back. read more

The food is really tasty, changing my rating because I couldn't stay away even though their postmates based delivery needs work.

I'm a big fan of Middle Eastern cuisine, and an absolute huge fan of falafel. I had just got done with a dentist appointment in the neighborhood and wanted to stop by somewhere new to grab a bite to eat. I've always passed by this eatery many of times down Milwaukee ave so my stomach ultimately lead me there. Pretty standard options on their menu: pita sandwich with choice of meat, lamb, chicken or falafel, or a plate with a choice of the same, along with various sides. I went and got myself a nice falafel plate with an order of fries (couldn't resist...id do a lot for a basket of fries). The plate was delicious; fresh veggies including cabbage and onions, with some white rice and then the falafel was well spiced and very tasty, not so spongy like I've had at other restaurants. Fries of course were amazing too. Pretty nice place they have here too. Plenty of room for groups, good quick service, and cheap prices. I'm always down to find new Middle Eastern spots in Chicago so I think I may have found mine here in the Wicker Park neighborhood. read more

Food was very mediocre for more premium food pricing. Portions were small, too. Everything was fine, nothing to write home about. We got the chicken schwarma plate and gyro plate. The side of hummus was very sad - seemed like it was Costco hummus in a plastic container. There is also not outdoor seating despite what the page says. read more

Just to get started, it was the worst mediterrenian food I ever had. Salad I had with my kebab tasted like it was made yesterday and ingredients were very uncreative, I wouldn't even make a salad like this at home on my worst day, sweet pickles tasted a bit outdated as well. Kebab was oversolted and tough. In addition, portions were small for the price. People who rated it 3-5 stars never had good food before. read more

FANTASTIC FOOD! Me and my husband go to Rumis at least once a week and always get the falafel pita and lentil soup. They truly have the best falafel in town and their prices are extremely reasonable. The staff is wonderful and friendly, and the restaurant is always clean and great atmosphere. If you're in the area you should definitely swing by!! read more

THIS PLACE IS SO GOOD! Honestly, if you love Mediterranean food and are in the area, I highly suggest going to this place. I got the chicken shawarma and my boyfriend got the gyro plate and they were both amazing. PROS: -They aren't stingy at all with any of the meat which was pleasing to see. For the chicken shawarma, they put in a variety of sauces, veggies, etc. -Gyro plate was also filled with a bunch of meat, rice, pita, and veggies- delicious CONS: -Their chicken was a little on the salty side for me -For the chicken shawarma pita, they put garlic sauce in first and then everything else, which ended up making the bottom of my pita a little soggy. I didn't care much for a soggy pita Overall great place, I will definitely be back whenever I am in Wicker Park. read more

I was quite disappointed with my delivery order. The falafel was greasy, the dolmeh was greasy and wet to the point of lifelessness, and the salad was ok. Best part of the order was the side of olives. I hope I remember not to order here again. read more

God this place is so good! Their hummus is to die for and their meats are seasoned so perfectly. I could eat here every day and the service is awesome. Quick, fresh and delicious just the way I like it. No where else I'd rather go for Mediterranean food! read more

Rumi Middle Eastern Grill - Falafel plate. $6.50!!!! - Mediterranean Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

The chicken is honestly incredible. I often feel like chicken is under appreciated in America because it's often cooked poorly. THIS is good chicken. The sauces and vegetables are pretty good too, but nothing out of the ordinary relative to a Naf Naf Grill or something. Definitely worth going and the owner was super nice. I'll be back! read more

I had high hopes for this place, yet extremely disappointed. I usually go to "falafel grill" down the road, yet decided to try a new place. Epic fail!!! I originally fell in love with middle eastern food from Dearborn, Michigan so maybe my standards are too high...anywho this had to be one of the most flavorless dishes I have ever had and I mean NO flavor! I ordered the lunch plate with chicken and gyro meat only. Meat was absolutely flavorless, hummus flavorless, cucumber salad dry, hot sauce weak and the garlic sauce...which is normally a saving grace was absolutely HORRIBLE! Not a lick of flavor at all. Not to mention, they served white rice instead of traditional yellow basmati!!!!! The establishment was warm..no ac, empty and smelled like it was wiped down with old mop water! Just stay away and spend your money elsewhere if you want decent middle eastern cuisine. Falafel Grill is down the street and It is always packed. The food quality is amazing and worth it. Avoid this Rumi place at all cost unless you like flavorless middle eastern food. Angry I ruined my appetite and wasted money! read more

Had high hopes for this place. The pictures looked amazing, and I work around here so it was only a matter time till I tried this place. They delivered to my work which was great. The falafels were under seasoned as well as the lentil soup. The lentil soup was also pretty watered down and blahh... I also got a kofta kebob salad. The meat was standard, there was alot of fresh veggies in it, although overall not that memorable. I will say the food here is clean and fresh and affordable. But it is also pretty bland. read more

Very average. Had the falafel plate which comes with about 2/3 c rice, 5-6 falafel, the salad and half a pita bread. The falafel was pretty good but a little dry for my liking. The rice was very bland but fine. The pita was good. I got a side of hummus which was the only thing I truly enjoyed. Staff is helpful and polite. Side note: i usually have water with my meal. There is a self-serve soft drink machine but the water you have to get from the cashier behind the counter. This can be inconvenient if you want a refill but don't want to interrupt the staff helping other customers. Probably won't return but I didn't HATE it or anything. read more

Pretty decent food for under $10. I got the beef kofta kebob plate with a bunch of salads. The portion is a bit smaller than other similar places, but that's for the better :). The beef needed some salt and pepper, but overall pretty good. Will return to try their other stuff. read more

Great food for my Mediterranean cravings! I got the Chicken Shawarma platter with tomato and cucumber salad, cabbage, and tabouleh and it was yummy. Lots of food and the chicken was very juicy and flavorful. I also got a side of falafel to share and it was super crispy. The only negative I have is that the rice was basic and I wish they warmed up the pitas. Would recommend stopping in for lunch or a quick meal! read more

Rumi Middle Eastern Grill - Chicken Shawarma platter with lots of sides! - Mediterranean Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Very tasty chicken shawarma wrap and lentil soup. Definitely a more complex and flavorful interpretation of quick Mediterranean than most offerings. Excellent post-shopping pick me up in wicker park. Recommended. read more

This place is amazing, I just recently started going here and I love it. I have ate the chicken shwarma plate, their salads and falafel. The way they season their chicken is phenomenal. The staff is really friendly too, and are always ready to chat if you strike a conversation with them. I'm surprised there aren't more people inside eating during my trips to Rumi. I think a lot of people passing by don't realize how good this place is, and just walk past it. It is almost like a hole in the wall type of place, and if you are in the area I would highly recommend it. The atmosphere is relaxing with music playing, and they have a nice assortment of cushioned seating. read more

I am always on the lookout for good middle eastern food in the city and found myself near this place. I had heard good things about it and thought I'd stop in. It's a fast casual concept - no wait staff or anything. The space is a pretty big size, and clean with room for more than just a few customers. The menu is fairly standard for a middle eastern place in America - kebabs, shawarma, etc in a plate, pita, etc. I opted for the lamb kebab plate, which is actually not pre-cooked. It will take a little bit to cook, but it's worth it. With the plate you have a choice of sides to add to your rice/meat like tabbouleh, jerusalem salad, pickles, onions, etc. Everything was great and the lamb was one of the better lamb kebabs I've had in the country. Full of flavor and not too gamey like I've had in the middle east before (some people like this, I am not a big fan of lamb when it's super gamey though). All of the plate was good including all of the sides. My only complaints was that the silverware/plates should probably be better, and the pita I was given was not as soft as I hoped, but the actual food and plate was really good, especially the lamb kebab. The guys working there are nice too, and they get some bonus points from me for having ayran, vimto, and Bavaria Apple Malt for sale in a trendy neighborhood. read more

I'm very particular about my middle eastern food. Growing up near Dearborn, MI means I have high standards. Rumi has lived up to those standards and more (haven't found many middle eastern establishments in Chicago that have). Falafel and baba ghannoush is far and away some of the best I've ever had. Chicken shawarma platter and gyro sandwich were also solid. Portion sizes were large and at a great price point. Will definitely be coming back! read more

Bad service ever they send the order cold and when you call they didn't answer they very cheap send me half pita bread

All I could think about while eating here was what I wanted for my next meal. Probably not a sign that I'd become a regular customer. Rumi wasn't necessarily terrible, but it definitely didn't do anything to make me want to come back. Of all the fast casual Mediterranean concepts out there it rated pretty low in comparison. Bland flavors, skimpy protein portions, and a lentil soup that left a lot to be desired. The price is definitely affordable though so if you're in the area and craving Middle Eastern food for under $10 it's probably the best option. read more

I got a gyro sandwich from here - I had been craving a gyro for days so this hit the spot! The one thing that threw me off was when I asked for tzatziki sauce the guy working told me they had a garlic sauce. I was very thrown off, and I saw a sauce that looked like tzatziki, so when I asked what that was, another guy said "cucumber yogurt" and I was relieved because that is exactly what tzatziki is. I had to wait a lot longer for this than I would have expected. I was in about 12:15 and it was like they were just opening...though it says they open at 11:00. Either way, I would for sure come back. read more
