This is the worst Pet Store ever! Please read this review before you buy there, I apologize that it got so long, but I have to let my frustration out somewhere.
I came in a few days ago to buy a new tank for my beardie, of course they had only 2 sizes of tanks, too small for my beardie. I am totally against selling puppies in the store, but I was curious so I looked at them. One puppy caught my attention, as I walked by he put his paw on the glass and wanted to play so badly, so I waited half an hour until finally I caught one of the staff girls to take him out. I played with him a while, although he stank like pee and had poop on his leg. Poor thing!!
So a few days later, I took my mum with me to see and maybe rescue the dog. We came there 7:45 pm and the staff was too busy to even look at us, then it was 7:58pm when we asked them to take the puppy out for us. Of course they couldn't do that because they were about to close the store. We said "Ok, no problem, we can understand." Although it made me sad because the puppy was still active and wanted to play so badly and get out of the poopy cage.
By the way, there was something not right with his eyes, but when we asked about that, the girl responded "No, they are all perfectly healthy, we have a vet coming every week to check them." HAHAHA LOL very funny, that was not the only dog we saw there with irritated eyes.
We continued to leave the store, but we had one more question; if they carry anything else than Frontline against flees for our dog at home, Lexi. Of course they don't, so we said there is something more natural on the market and Frontline is supposed to be not so good for them. When we turned around to leave, the girl got pissed off, made a nasty protesting coughing noise and threw down her pencil! Is that a way to treat a customer?! We asked the manager, who stood right in front of the scene, if something is wrong. She saw and heard nothing of course. The girl got more and more rude in her attitude, telling us she talked to someone else and not to us, and that she explained why we couldn't take out the puppy, that leads me to think she is not even capable of paying attention to what the customer actually says; we didn't complain about not being able to take out the puppy, we complained about her attitude. But of course she is a nursing student major, she let us know, so she must be so much better than us, so much more intelligent! My mum told her she would complain about Petco, accidently mistaken this store for Petco, the girl had a big nasty smile on her face and said sarcasticly "Oh yes, go ahead and complain about Petco!" I responded "No, we complain about Rumford, we are not stupid." I was shocked how rude she got and that she got away with that in front of the local manager!
It doesn't come across as rude when you just read it, you should have witnessed her, she got so nasty, aggressive and sarcastic that I was even afraid she would get physical. I felt uneasy in that situation and can't believe that someone like this is becoming a nurse, I should ask at which hospital she will work and never go there. Ignorant, nasty, rude, no selection, pet-torturing, this is my impression of Rumford. NEVER BUY THERE! Unless you want to rescue one of the poor sick dogs from their misery, from their poop and piss filled cage.
And by the way, even if the dogs don't come from the puppy mill, they have really bad living conditions sitting the whole day in their dirty cage, often for months until someone finally buys them. I just had to add this because I read a review here which says that the puppies don't come from the mill. That doesn't make the staff friendlier or the life of the dog in the cage healthier. read more
