We live in a small town that only has a Petsmart, so before we traveled to Boston for a wedding, I…read moredid some research and found out about this place! Has an excellent reputation and I called ahead to ask questions about keeping reptiles safe and alive during long drives (roughly 5 hours from the store to home). I originally had my heart set on a Mexican black kingsnake and gargoyle gecko, but they were sold out of the geckos and I didn't click with the snakes I handled... Sooooo I left with this ADORABLE crested gecko. I researched gargoyles for a really long time and their husbandry is practically the same, so I'm happy with this little guy or gal (affectionally named Nacho). I liked that the women who helped me were super patient with my questions about other snake species, their husbandry, feeding routines, and handling. When I switched gears and set my eyes on the little cresties, they made sure I understood how to care for them and told me about their parents and the breeder. Overall, I love this store and can't wait to return for another crestie or gargoyle gecko! Also -- animals are priced fairly and well looked after. The merchandise (enclosures, decor, food) are all priced well too. You know how some business mark things up and sell them for double what you see online? That's not the case here. I really can't recommend it enough! It's worth the drive for folks from out of town.

#freeemmitt. I would give them 0 stars for not returning a family pet…read more From Emmitt's owner, Libbie Kelly: About a year ago we lost our family tortoise, he walked right out of our back yard. We searched all day and night asked our neighbors, put up flyers and called the Taunton Animal Control. It's not something you just see walking around on the daily so we had high hopes they would call when he was found. He was found a few days later a couple of streets down. The lady and her husband who found him called animal control a told them they had found a tortoise. Animal control at their house ten minutes later (even though you can't even get ahold of them for several days). When he got there he said "Marla is going to get this!" If you don't know Marla Isaac is a reptile lady in Taunton that shows her animal at schools and birthday parties. When we heard about this, we contacted Marla, she freaked out and called the cops, after we went to the police station and they told us they couldn't help we went to the mayor assistant's office, we've now been waiting a month with no response from them. We are still in the process of trying to get out family tortoise back but we have learned its going to take a lot more money then we have to deal with the police and lawyers and what not. Please if you could help out in anyway you can it would be greatly appreciated.

I was excited to check this store out and made a trip from nyc to purchase some jumping spiders…read more Along the way I stopped at another pet store and got other stuff as well. When I was there, I spoke to a few members of their staff. The older gentleman with the long white hair was knowledgable and friendly. The other people I interacted with were both rude and unprofessional. When I was at the store I was showing off a new praying mantis to another customer as we were chatting about our pets. One of the employees made a point to come over to me and tell me that buying / owning the mantis I bought was illegal. Not only that, he said "I heard you mentioning another store to a customer, don't do that." Sounded like Something my boss would say when I worked retail and I suggested something to a customer that was sold at another store. He sounded like a dealer on a corner trying to protect his turf. If you love animals and work at a Pet Store, you should be enthusiastic about The Pet trade and other stores. His behavior and general Attitude was pathetic and a bad representation of the business. The way he was talking, you would think he would at least know what he was talking about but no. This guy got up in my face, the customer, told me what I was doing was illegal (which it wasn't) and spoke to me like he was managing a new employee at the store. I didn't ask for your advice or need to hear you run your mouth and make me question the legality of my purchase. This is a great store with a huge selection of beautiful and rare animals and The store is organized well and clean and easy to navigate. It's a shame because the employees working here aren't a good representation of the business. The young skinny guy at the counter, looked either high, disinterested, or tired, and couldn't be bothered to speak to me when I had questions to try to engage him, Mind you I just bought two spiders and two enclosures. This place is worth coming too, but Avoid anyone else other than the older gentleman with the long hair.
