Duck empanada's are excellent. Could stuff myself just on those. Went to Rumba with my girlfriend mainly for the tacos, however. We ordered fish, buffalo chicken, jerk chicken, and pulled rib tacos. The tacos tasted good and I liked the tortillas, but they did not come to the table hot. They were served at close to room temperature. I expected my food to come hot so this was a major disappointment and severely affects the overall taste of the food. After ordering another round of tacos they again came to the table and were lukewarm at best! I will look for my tacos elsewhere! read more

We are from Washington D.C. staying in Southampton for a month, and I from this "outsider's" perspective this is a weird restaurant. The crowd is very Jersey City, food is fine, neither good not terrible, and the service is very haphazard. It's the kind of place where they ask you if you are "still working on that" even if other people at the table are still eating. They asked my son 4 times if they could take his plate and we were only there for 40minutes, usually you get a table for 2 hours. The drinks were only ok and overall the ambiance was average. Stopped in for dinner after a long day on the water last Wednesday for a quick bite. When we arrived, we were seaed pretty quickly. However, the bench on one side of the table was completely wet. I used my napkin to dry it off. Our waiter, brought me another when asked. He was fantastic, I wish I could remember his name. Took our drink orders quickly, brought our food out quickly, was informative when one of the items we ordered was all out. He did a good job. However, I had no idea that RUMBA was such a family friendly environment that you can let your kids do whatever they want!!! The table nextto us had 3 adults and 4 children that were completely WILD!!!! Noone (parents or staff) said anything about the kids throwing things. Thank goodness we were in and out quickly. It's amazing. Really. When you think about how much food this kitchen has to get out at every sitting. It's amazing they do it so well. And the food is so incredibly good. Definitely get the Dominican ribs. The chicken wings. The mussels. The shrimp taco. The artichoke. The corn. It's all so yummy. You'll want to keep coming back night after night. Lunch after lunch. The margaritas are superb. And the staff are beautiful, smart, young people who are kind and cool and on the top of their game. This place is really extremely well run. This is such a fun place! Husband and I stopped in after a movie nearby. The atmosphere is laid back, Caribbean style for sure-reminded me of my days living-on St. Croix. The rum punch was refreshing! The Caribbean wings had a special siracha/ coconut milk sauce that gave a wonderful flavor of sweet-spice! Husband enjoyed the pork tacos And crab cake. Our favorite restaurant in the Hamptons. I believe they're appetizer of Dominican ribs is the best rib I've ever tasted. My cousins from North Carolina disagree but even they have to give it a thumbs up. I love the entire menu. I love the chef. The owner has personally delivered catered food to our home. Their sister restaurant Cowfish is also a notch above everything else, but Rumba remains the best. Cowfish is a much larger establishment, and the food is also excellent. Rumba's key lime pie is the best key lime pie north of Florida. read more

Delicious! Flavorful! It was Taco Thursday 3 for $12. Two would have been plenty. The Fish Taco was my favorite, then the Smothered Pulled Rib and Rastaman's. Each one had its own unique flavor. This place is definitely worth the wait! We were referred to this place by locals. I was in town for my bachelorette party with a few friends. We came to Rumba at 9pm last Saturday. The hostess said it was going to be an hour wait, but get drinks and you can sit by the water. It is a small bar, but we ordered a pitcher of rum punches it was so relaxing and nice by the water. When we were finished, we were seated. The drinks were amazing! My friend had a sangria, but my best friend and I had blackberry jalapeño margaritas. They were so delicious! It had a hint of sweetness from the fruit and abbot of heat in the back of your throat. Since it was late we ordered apps and it was enough!! We had: double dipper-that pimento cheese is to die for, the ahi tuna-super flavorful and I love the hint of vinegar in the cabbage, duck empanadas were so delicious, and fish tacos. There was a great heat in the fish tacos: it was juicy and cooked perfectly. Service was great and even the coffee was good! There was 4 of us and we only paid $20 per person. Service - very prompt and polite. Noticed staff members hustling and bustling in the midst of the craziness. Definitely impressed by their strong work ethic! We interacted with the host in person and over the phone and she was very pleasant, polite, and timely. The bartenders were responsive and worked well together. The wait staff was attentive, timely, and kind. Food - had the homemade guac and chips - they were solid, 7/10; had the duck empanadas - they were tasty and unique, 8/10; had the special taco of the day - (buffalo soldier tacos?) - delicious - 9/10 for preparation, flavor, and uniqueness!; had the crab cake - 10/10, just do it!; had the seared scallop salad - honestly, would have enjoyed the 4 large seared scallops on a dish with a nearby glaze and called it a day - the salad was lacking avocado and papaya 9/10 for the seared scallops, 3/10 for the accompanying salad...key lime pie was delicious, 10/10. Had the Rum Punch - 10/10 and top shelf margarita 10/10. Parking was available alongside the restaurant (valet), as well as a bit down the road they use some space at the Marina. Its about 500 feet passed the restaurant Cowfish and there is a small sign that denotes the parking - the Rumbus comes every 5 minutes and was a cool experience. Walked back to the car around 945pm and it was pleasantly dark and a nice way to walk off the meals. Only complaint was that for a restaurant that can host as many folks as it can - they only have 1 stall for the ladies and there is a line. This line averaged about 6 minutes (the wifey counted) and can be counter productive for the establishment as this is time that a patron isn't at the table and slows turning down tables for the waitstaff. Randomly ventured out to South Hampton area and discovered this place on a random Saturday evening. This place was awesome, located right next to the water. The vibe was great and everyone was drinking by the bar as you wait for your table. A table for 2 was still a good hour long wait, but we hung out by the bar. Didn't know what to expect from this place, but I was pleasantly surprised by the food. Here's what we ordered: - Dominican Ribs - Duck Empanadas - Carnitas Taco and Smothered Pulled Rib Taco - 1/2 Caribbean Jerk Chicken Everything was amazing, but I definitely recommend the ribs and the jerk chicken. Really nice restaurant in a beautiful setting. Outdoor seating looking over the water. There is a dock that you can walk on after you meal. The staff are extremely nice and very accommodating. My husband and I went to eat there and brought our 2 month old with us. They sat us at a table where we could both comfortable sit and have the stroller right next to us. My husband had pork tacos and was very pleased with it. I have the salmon which was amazing and it came with a coconut risotto which was awesome!! Wonderful dinner. This was our first time visiting. They were participating in restaurant week, and offered some nice options. Food was all delicious, cooked to perfection and plated beautifully. While we really enjoyed our meals, the key lime pie was really outstanding. So when you already have great food, the one thing that will set a restaurant apart from another is the staff, and this staff hit it out of the ballpark. We stopped by here on the way back home. The restaurant was packed, not sure if they weren't use to the crowd or if they were short-staffed. From the moment we tried to park the car to the end of the meal, it seemed like the staff was overwhelmed but they were trying their best to keep up with the demand. We ordered the Ribs, duck empanadas, fish taco, and pulled pork taco amongst many other things. I highly recommend the ribs, they fell off the bone and were seasoned to perfection. The fish taco was amazing as well, I loved the mayo based sauce that came with it. Personally, I didn't think the duck empanadas was memorable. There wasn't enough of a duck taste, it was more of a cheesy taste. The reason I didn't give it the fifth star was due to the overall cleanliness and upkeep of the restaurant. Decor wasn't maintained as well as it should be, the skylights were covered in filth. I immediately noticed it and could not not-notice them for the rest of the meal. read more
