Rumba is a great spot to grab dinner and drinks on your way to the Hamptons. It has both indoor and outdoor seating and a dock with Adirondack chairs where you can bring drinks as you wait for your table. The first time we went I was blown away. We tried almost every taco (they're huge, you've been warned), duck empanadas, and a few cocktails (the coconut martini went down too easy :). We loved it and thought we found a perfect summer spot. The second time we went for dinner I was less than impressed. We were seated outside along the bar seats facing the water and the hostess put two large parties next to us so we were all crammed too close and didn't have room to eat or turn to talk to our company. The food was still good, but not great like I had remembered. Im not sure if they were busier than usual and that's why the service and food wasn't up to par but I haven't found myself back there since. The dinner left me stressed and rushed. Side note, there is a parking overflow that you can drive to with a free shuttle that will bring you to and from the restaurant. This is a nice touch. There is also a small boat that will bring you to their sister restaurant nearby. read more

Obsessed with this adorable place! I've lived on Long Island my whole and surprisingly rarely go to the hamptons so Idk what's good and what's not. Well this place is excellent! For starters everybody from the valet to the hostess to the waitress to the manager was super super friendly. We sat outside over looking the water and each got fun drinks: passion fruit pina colada, prickly pear Margarita and Caribbean rum punch. I sampled all 3 and my fav was the prickly pear, the pina colada was on the rocks rather than frozen but it would be too much sugar to have more than one. We split the fried plantains as an app-should have come with a dipping sauce but delicious regardless. I also got one of the shrimp tacos-love when tacos are sold individually, allows for more samplings! It was a generous size too so one was perfect considering all of the other things we ordered. We each got the veggie burger which I happened to LOVE!! It was huge with avocado and some type of mystery sauce and the fries were crisped to perfection. My only complaint-my friend asked the waitress if there were onions in the burger and she said no simply just spices -she can not eat onions- well there were CLEARLY onions in there and she could not eat it. Probably would have given this place a 5 if not for that instance but my friend is not vegetarian, she could have ordered almost anything else on the menu but wanted that veggie burger so that was a disappointment! Highlight of the lunch tho-this place has a free boat ride over to there other location, cowfish, where you scoot on over, have a couple drinks and scoot back to get your car! Once we arrived, we were told to wait for our table but we could have drinks. They did not tell us it would be an HOUR AND A HLAF WAIT. Instead they never specified how long the wait would be when they offered a table inside or the bus (regardless we had a reservation for a table). When we questioned how long they continuously said the party was "paying now" and it "should be 20 mins". Their compensation was "maybe 2 pitchers of rum punch" and they did not care about the wait. The way this manager and the staff handled the situation was not appropriate and all of the staff (female bartender and a waitress) were rude and had bad attitudes. Not all wait staff were bad, but the bad outshined the good. read more

It really stinks that this place gets really crowded with an extremely long wait during the summer. The food is awesome! Fish tacos, ahi tuna, cheese dip, rum punch, scallops, etc etc! It is worth the wait if you don't arrive extremely hungry - give yourself about an hour or two buffer before your extreme hunger pains kick in! They have a shuttle boat to and from their sister restaurant CowFish, where you can stop by to have drinks while you wait for your Rumba table. This place totally reminds you of why summer is the best, especially when you are one rum punch pitcher into your meal!! Note - parking is a pain but they do have a shuttle bus to and from the parking area they have reserved which I believe is in the high school parking lot down the road when school is out for the summer. read more

Finally got to come here after our visit at Cowfish and have to say we love this place just as much! The ambiance is more of a Caribbean feel than Cowfish, which is a little more laid back. At this place you truly feel like you are in the Caribbean and it's awesome! We took the shuttle over from Cowfish after we had dinner there and loved this place the minute we walked in! The atmosphere is so much fun and the staff is amazing! They are all so friendly and happy...how could you not be working in a place like this :-) Our bartenders were incredible and as we sat at the bar watching them make drinks we couldn't believe how fast, accurate and calm they all were. This place was packed but no one was without a drink if they wanted one. I had the Sweet Heat margarita, which has jalapeno infused tequilla, chambord, blackberries and fresh squeezed citris juices, and it was absolutely delicious! Just the right amount of sweetness and heat. I usually don't like sweet but this was just right! This became my drink of the night here :-) My husband and I loved it so much that we stayed longer than we had planned and we ended up meeting some really cool people. We decided to get some appetizers with them and we shared the Guacamole, Dominican Ribs, and their Caribbean Wings all of which were absolutely amazing! Then the bartender made us really great lemon drop shots that had delicious sugar on the glass rims. This was the end to a really perfect day. The only thing that made it even better was meeting Crystal, the manager. She is awesome and told us to make sure to come back soon...which we definitely will! If you want a really fun atmosphere, great food, great service and a great view then this is the place to go! And the shuttle bus that takes you to and from either restaurant makes the experience even better! read more

Just tried to place an order for 2 shrimp taco dinners and after being put on hold for 8 minutes I was told that they are putting to go order on hold. I have eaten here before but have never been refused outgoing orders. Ridiculous and Insulting. Guess they don't need the business. The food is downright amazing, and most of the waitresses are energetic and personable. When my dear friend Stefanie worked there, I'd sometimes get a little something of a discount which was icing on an already delicious cake. We had such a great time here! I felt like they could have played up the island theme a little bit more with the music but otherwise we felt like we were on a mini tropical getaway right in our own backyard. Drinks were yummy - I had the Caribbean rum punch but if I could do it again I'd go with the prickly pear margarita my friend ordered. All three of us got the veggie burger, which is where they lose a star - my friend specifically asked if the burger had onions in it and we were told no, but it did. Both me and my friend don't eat onions so we were picking at the burger and neither of us finished it. I've been here a few times and for me the food is okay at best. I appreciate that the small town has some variety with a restaurant such as this one. Although the atmosphere is fun and free, beautiful waterfront view, the food has been inconsistent at times. I feel the portions (especially for appetizers and salads) are small. I've even ordered the same thing as a friend/relative for an entree and there was a noticeable difference in portion size. The service is great, again, the atmosphere is definitely fun and relaxing and the perfect place to spend time after the beach for an "island inspired beverage". Rumba is an interesting fusion of beach bar meets gourmet Caribbean food. The perfect spot for a casual but slightly more pricey date night or to have a drink and watch sunset. We started our meal off with the mussels in the curry sauce. These mussels were AMAZING. The sauce had a subtle coconut flavor with a hint of parsley-- nothing too overwhelming for the gentle mussel flavor but something more exciting than the classic white wine sauce. Make sure to order the bread in the side if you don't like soggy bread ($16). Then we enjoyed the ahi tuna salad. Again there was a nice balance of flavor. The salad was served with nice large chunks of avocado and mango. However, the onions were cut too thick and for the price, there was not a lot of salad. A prefect light dish but a definitely pricey for portion size. ($19) Finally I had the duck empanadas. By word of mouth these were supposed to be one of the best dishes. However, a couple of mine were cold on the inside and I thought this was the most disappointing dish. ($2) To drink definitely try the passion fruit Mojito or the prickly pear margarita. You could taste the fresh passion fruit in the Mojito and the prickly pear margarita was delicious-- not to sweet and a lot of flavor for prickly pear. ($12 each) Our servers were very kind but the place is popular so super busy and the service has tendency to be slow (think island time). Waited for our reserved table for a bit and we had quite a few mixed up orders. Tacos were $4-6 and large entree plates averaged $20. Overall I would recommend the restaurant! read more

Rumba, a very catchy name for a restaurant that has a Caribbean style bar theme. Upon arriving, there is valet parking, which is done very professionally. The employees are courteous and if there is not enough room, they direct you to an overflow lot where a minibus shuttles you to the restaurant. As you enter into the establishment, you are surrounded by a Caribbean/ beachfront atmosphere. This is where I feel the restaurant tries too hard and comes off as too artificial. Yes they have your standard Bob Marley best of tracks playing and some dance as well, nothing that has not been done over and over by many a restaurant. A little unique variety would be nice. During peak times the bar/dining area gets very crowded, especially around the one side of the bar where they have sit down tables. Unfortunately if you are located at one of these tables, be ready to have people standing right next to you while you are trying to eat. To avoid this make sure you reserve or get a specific table away from the bar. Still this is not too unique of a problem to smaller places. The waitstaff is very nice and we did not have any attitude issues. There was a good selection on the menu with just enough choices. The food was ok for the price, nothing amazing but at least you did not pay a hamptons premium. Also if you use the woman's room, they have only one stall, so be prepared to wait. The big problem is this. I am allergic to gluten and have a really bad allergic reaction if I eat it, to the point where I need to take medicine and may require a dr. Visit. I ordered my meal gluten free, which is optional on a lot of menu items. When they bought it out there was fried onions on the side. Now I thought they were gluten free because I ordered my meal like that. Thankfully someone I was with told me I should ask the waitress to just make sure. Turns out, nope they had gluten. If I would have eaten that I probably would be sick for the rest of the night. This was a simple, preventable error, probably because they were so busy and putting out a lot of food. Still for something like this there should be better catches in place. So if you go make sure you double check your food when it comes out. read more

Good food and fun menu with a great drink selection and they stay true to their theme throughout. We had an unfortunate table right next to the servers entrance to the bar which is why I've given 4* instead of 5. I understand that tables have to be well spaced out at the moment due to covid but I think we were unlucky with the table that we got. Could see the servers and bartenders were working very hard bu we felt a little rushed out maybe due to the fact our reservation was for 9:15, however other tables arrived later than us. Had we not been rushed we probably would've had another drink and maybe bumped the check up even more. All in all a good experience and very different to the other restaurants in the area. Mahi and Dominican Ribs were delicious as was the dip appetiser. Fully recommend Rumba to those looking for somewhere fun and a bit different in Southampton. read more

Not surprisingly, Rumba has some great rum drinks. But don´t just go for the drinks, because they have great food, an excellent view and friendly waitstaff. The crab cakes and the duck empanadas should not be missed. They have a sister restaurant, Cowfish, and have a shuttle boat (I think its called the Rumboat) and a shuttle bus for parking (the Rumbus). Really cute! read more

4 of us ordered a round of drinks at bar -no seats available - Also wanted desserts. We went outside to deck and see a dirty open table with no set ups - we sit down and 5 minutes later a hostess (who was NOT at door when we arrived) tells us we need to leave for others who are having dinner - There are 3 other open tables -All dirty : But they suddenly need ours - we asked to speak with a manager - she also tells us how the table must be given up immediately - Others have been waiting ? Yet ALL 3 tables sat dirty with no one even near them interested in cleaning them. Nice way to treat customers ! read more

Fun place! Definitely a to do. My friend and I came at 6:30 and still had to wait more than an hour but all is swell because we had two drinks, went on a boat tour of the bay, and made lots of friends. The boat tour was a little concerning when the captain told us how a)shallow the water was b) to redistribute our weight on the boat because we were over the limit c) that a piece of the boat broke! Any who I'm still here alive writing this glowing review so obviously it's all good! Food is yummy, got the shrimp and pork tacos and fried plantains noms. Everyone is very nice and friendly here! Went to Rumba on the Saturday night of July 4th weekend. I went with a group of 7 girls and of course we expected a wait. When putting our name down we were told 1 hour and 30 minutes until we would be seated. We ordered 2 drinks before we were seated and about 1 hour and 45 minutes later we finally got a table (9:30ish). After sitting down (the waitress was aware of our wait time) we each ordered another round of drinks. We placed our orders shortly after for only a few appetizers and then all of our entrees. The appetizers came pretty quickly, but the entrees didn't come for quite awhile after. The group I was with was starving and very unhappy with the wait time for our table/food. While waiting for our dinner my friend mentioned something to the restaurant about the situation. Kindly the restaurant brought over a complimentary round of their banana rum (if I recall correctly) for the inconvenience. Once we each had the shots we were still waiting awhile for our food. Our dinner finally arrived around 10:15/30 and we were all famished. I ordered the Jerk Chicken entree and it was awful to be quite honest. Normally anything would taste decent considering how hungry I was, but the dish was not what I was expecting at all. It was two small pieces of grilled chicken breast with a little seasoning on it and dry. Very misleading considering when I normally order Jerk Chicken it's very juicy with thick sauce on the bone. The coconut risotto was just OK. Nothing great at all. My friends enjoyed the tacos they ordered. I didn't complain about my dish as at that point I just wanted to get out of the restaurant and was annoyed by the whole situation. The restaurant was aware of our situation and all of the delays. In addition to the complimentary round of shots the restaurant was kind enough to remove all drinks we ordered at the table from our bill. We really appreciated the gesture and it was the right thing to do. Overall I think that the volume of people and the holiday weekend was overwhelming to Rumba. I've been a few times before and had a pleasant experience. I potentially would be willing to give the restaurant another shot, but wish this experience had been better. read more

Saw this place on TikTok and decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised. First off, hats off to the service. Our server Ardis was a sweetheart and made you feel comfortable - definitely an asset to the restaurant. We also wanted to say thank you to Brianna for being so attentive and personal as well. I had a basic Mojito which was a bit watered down for my taste but was nevertheless refreshing. Their Rum Punch and Margarita were really good - especially the Rum Punch (and instagram friendly). The Shrimp Tacos were amazing. The only downside is that they serve only one per order. We are avid consumers of wings and were satisfied with their Carribean wings which are coated with a mild but delicious coconut sauce. We also tried their Jerk Chicken platter which was just okay. I am however speaking as someone native to the Carribean where Jerk Chicken is made differently but it wasn't there worst piece of chicken in the world. The Coconut Risotto and a topping of Mango Salsa were the MPVs of the platter. Definitely will return to try new dishes whenever we decide to get away from the city. read more
