Only come here if you have more than an hour for lunch during lunch hour. The staff was really slow and what was worse than that was My food was lukewarm. I don't understand why this location is so slow but yeah when I go to other Rudy's locations, they are really fast. You can sit outside on a nice day or inside. I got some sort of lunch special that had a can Coke but when I went to go grab the Coke, they only had three options available, and there was a lady that I asked to see if that has something in the bag and almost kind of gave me attitude, but then she caught herself.

Service is great and staff are very fast at getting your order. Most of the seating is outdoor and bench style seating. Thankfully, it was not as hot. The bbq we had was all very juicy and had a nice Smokey flavor. The meat was a bit bland but they had season and sauce on the tables. I wish they had a spicy hot sauce and maybe my sandwich would have been better. The banana pudding and Oreo was good but sadly, the banana bread was very dry and sold only by the entire loaf. Overall, a nice dining experience and I would recommend giving it a try.

I'm going to be as nice as possible because I have fond memories here. 10/15 years ago this was the place. I remember ordering catering, bringing family. This place no longer resembles anywhere near what we remembered. Let's get to it. We kept it simple. Brisket, turkey, jalapeño sausage, cream corn, and beans. The only thing we agreed on was the turkey and bbq sauce are still as good as we remember. The brisket was tough, dry and under seasoned. The beans were under seasoned, and the cream corn was just ok. The jalapeño sausage was just ok as well. Nothing great. I remember it used to always be crowded. There wasn't very many people there. I'm so perplexed as to why it is so different. I don't know if it has anything to do with the pit masters? I'm not going to go as far as to say should have gone to bill millers across the street...but was pretty darn close. Also a little expensive. Again bbq, great bbq you don't mind paying. This was not it. I honestly felt sad when we left. It tarnished all the fond memories. I can't recommend it anymore. With so many great options in town now...look elsewhere.

This Rudy's seems a little outdated compared to the other ones in regard to the spacing when ordering your food and the menu options. The line was crowded and it was hot outside. Overall, the service was good and everybody seemed happy to be there. They were all helpful and kind. I specifically wanted the cream corn, but was left with disappointment. When I arrived, they stated that they didn't have any which was fine because I was okay with waiting for it however when I got home I quickly learned that the cream corn was not of good quality. The cream was very watery and you could tell that the corn was not cooked in the cream long enough -- you can't rush greatness! Although I ordered moist brisket, mine was a little on the dry side as well. The chicken and turkey were good though and well seasoned. So was the potato salad & jalapeño sausage.

I had a great brisket sandwich with cream corn and a grape soda. Everything was great. The place was clean. The bathrooms were clean even though they're under renovation. They were still clean and I appreciate everything Rudy does for the veterans anybody that was a veteran can get 10% discount when they come into Rudy'sit's valid at Leon Springs Westover, Hills, Selma, and Tacoma. And if you're a Vietnam vet, they'll give you a free meal.! You can't beat that with a stick

Their BBQ sauce is yummy in my tummy. Pudding was ok but the corn and meats are a must. We ate outside and were able to see the sea world fireworks from there. Lots of space and sitting for so many with our big party that came in. The inside was chilly so pretty much why we chose to sit out. Parking is in the back and the side. Entering in to sit is in the front and back. There was a different area to order but I didn't get to see where because family went and brought the food out. Definitely a place to take the whole family

From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between laid-back Texas charm and a lively River Walk experience. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from start to finish. I ordered the three-meat plate with the sausage, second-cut brisket, and smoked turkey, and every bite was outstanding. The brisket was tender and packed with smoky flavor, the sausage had the perfect snap and seasoning, and the smoked turkey was surprisingly juicy and flavorful. Favorite item was the Alamo huevos rancheros. This was a rare treat to enjoy a dish with brisket, cheese, and salsa without some kind of heartburn afterwards. But this was lighter than expected and tasted amazing! Other dishes we tried: Egg white frittata: very good and a nice touch that it is served in a skillet! Texas waffle: was one of the best waffles either of us has had in a long time Blueberry pancakes: very good. I really enjoyed the stewed blueberry Chilaquiles: this we felt was the only miss. Didn't like that it was prepared with tortilla chips instead of fried tortillas Steak and eggs: ask for extra chimichurri sauce and maybe add some extra salt. Once you do that, this dish is fantastic Avocado toast: this definitely needs smoked salmon or other protein. Otherwise it isn't very substantial. 3 Stars -- Good for the Zoo Crowd, Not for True Texas BBQ Fans…read moreLet me start by saying my three stars are strictly for the food -- not the location, not the vibe. Augie's is a solid convenience spot if you're spending the day at the Zoo or Brackenridge Park. Think of it as the Texas BBQ equivalent of good food inside Disneyland: it's not great, but for where you are, it'll do the job. As for the BBQ itself... nothing really stands out. The brisket was bland and barely warm, and most of the sides were cold. The place wasn't even busy -- just my table of five and another small group -- so that didn't help justify the temperature or quality issues. The jalapeño cheese sausage was the one bright spot, packing a decent kick and some real flavor. Portions and utensils felt a little stingy -- you'll probably snap a fork trying to dig into anything, and if you ask for extra sauce, expect a tiny salsa-sized cup. On the positive side, the staff was friendly and the setting is great. You get nice views of the driving range and can catch the Brackenridge Park train rolling by, which gives the place a relaxed, local feel. Final Take: Would I recommend this place as a true Texas BBQ destination? Absolutely not -- you'll find better brisket at Buc-ee's or Rudy's. But if you're already at the park or zoo and need something quick and convenient, it's a fine spot to grab a bite and keep your day moving
