I usually eat here when I come to this outlet. I really choose this because it's airconditioned, large, and a small step above fast food or food court. They have decent burgers and we've always had good service. Have we had to wait? A little bit, but never more than a few minutes. The food usually comes out pretty quickly, unless you order something weird, which my friend did the last time we came. If you want to take it a bit slower than a to-go box, I'd come here for a nice burger. read more

Decided to load up before doing last minute shopping before ringing in 2019. Parking can be a challenge but Ruby's have their own designated parking for customers for 60 mins. We were seated immediately. Within minutes...the waitress introduced herself (Jasmin)and took our order. She was nice, pleasant, and friendly. This place is packed with tourist from all around...I can make out people speaking in Mandarin, Thai, Vietnamese...and Spanish. Food came out pretty quick. My friend ordered Avocado Turkey and I went for the seafood combo. I should have known better then to order deep fried fish & shrimp in a place known for burgers. The battered was burnt and filled with oil. My friend finished his burger while I was still trying to pick out my oily batter. 4 stars for friendly service and 1 star less for quality of my seafood combo. This is great food. Astrid , welcomed me with a big hello, , the hostess was quick in helping me and asked if I needed a table or a booth. Great. I came for breakfast for Mimi's Birthday (my grand daughter). Our order was taken by Esmeralda quick and I must say , she was so helpful with our food. She also made terrific recommendations. This restaurant is located at the Citadel Premium Outlets Mall, and definitely was a convenient place to eat breakfast and wait for the mall to open. To be very honest, there was no "wow" factor in my opinion, and although the service was decent, I thought my overall experience was just ok. Since my friend and I had over-estimated the travel time to the outlet mall (we both thought it would take us longer to get there because of the morning LA traffic), I was thankful this location is open early for breakfast. Arriving at Ruby's around 830am, besides a party of 4, we were the only other customers at that time and were seated immediately. After taking a few minutes to look over the menu, my friend chose the eggs benedict, while I chose the 2 eggs sunny side up with Canadian bacon. Both of our entrees were served with breakfast potatoes, while mine also came with a choice of toast, bagel, or English muffin as well. We both ordered coffee, and refills are complimentary and were readily provided throughout our meal. Our food was served roughly within 10 minutes, and suffice to say although the food wasn't spectacular or the best, it was decent and we had no complaints. I personally thought my entree was a good portion size and I felt I wasn't served too much or too little food. SERVICE: Decent. The hostess and and server provided satisfactory customer service on this visit. TIP: There are parking spaces designated in the parking lot directly in front of the restaurant for Ruby's customers specifically. There are several locations to eat throughout the Citadel,but this the only 1 to sit inside and it was cold last night.I know that the world got out that there would be a lot of people from yelp here. We got the red carpet treatment. Ruby's wasn't listed as 1 of the stores that where offering the discounts, However a Manager saw me going threw my book that was provided to me from Yelp and guess what I was offered a 10 percent discount. I came here for lunch because it's near my work place. The style of the diner is very 50's and the food is American. It is located within the Citadel Outlets. There is plenty of parking and it's a sit-down restaurant. If you're looking for table service, then this is your place. The hostesses are very nice and greet you right away. They quickly sat me down and the server was friendly. Service can be a little slow and it depends on the time of day. I came in during lunchtime so it is rush hour and it can get packed. There is a lot of good food items to order and they are known for their milkshakes. I ordered the half & half which is a sandwich and either a soup or salad. My sandwich was the Deluxe B-L-T-A which is delicious. It comes with bacon, avocado, tomato, and lettuce. The best thing is the bread is toasted with parmesan cheese. The salad is mixed greens with ranch. The sandwich was toasted nicely, and the lettuce wasn't wilted or brown. The ranch was a little too watery, but it still tasted good. The food and the milkshakes were delicious. I ordered a Cobb salad and a Cookies & Cream milkshake too bad the portions were huge I had to take the salad to go and split my shake with my husband. It's an achievement for ANY restaurant to undergo a years-long pandemic and still be operational on the other end. However, this achievement alone does not supplant a failure to uphold basic principles of hospitality and service, i.e. communication, efficiency, consistency, etc. There are a handful of essential factors that make a restaurant an enjoyable experience and not all are under the control of servers, cooks, or even management--that is understood. Yet, decisions propagated from corporate, compounded with the service of servers, cooks, and management, CAN all coincide in the form of a unpleasant visit, or worse: a deep and lasting impression of issues that result in a reputation that loses customers permanently. Unfortunately, my visit today seems to skew towards the latter. Some issues don't reflect this individual location, but are rather systemic due to obvious cost-cutting measures (the like to be suggested from naïve recent MBAs). These include, but are not limited to: changes in the quality of beef, burger size, fry apportionment, menu shrinkage (limiting options and offerings; a fairly innocuous and expected shift seen throughout the industry). These, in all honesty, are not much of a gripe. Framed with proper service, Ruby's can still provide an enjoyable experience. As an aside, I should note one pleasant surprise: they still offer bottomless fries with their burgers! Verbiage of this is sparse and will be hard to find on their menu or throughout the restaurant, but it's still impressive. However, I'll have to take the word of other customers and our server for it, as we did not get to experience this firsthand. As for THIS individual location: certain observations were painfully obvious. Firstly, the location is understaffed, which in turn increases wait times for a server and food runners. Secondly, is the lack of organization, which can cascade into lost orders, miscommunication, and poor impressions. As for our visit, we arrived 45 minutes before closing, were promptly sat by the kind host only to wait 15-20 minutes before being having our order received by the waitress (which we had to request). Once our orders were taken down, we received our drinks and shortly thereafter (no more than 5 minutes), upon realizing the updated portion sizes, requested that an appetizer be added to the order. This is well before the closing time, with the kitchen still producing orders and other customers still ordering. We then received our food, albeit with a longer wait than previous visits. After waiting an additional 15 minutes, we asked our server for an update on the appetizer and fry refill (as this was close to closing time). She returned with the fact that the kitchen was closed. Under ANY other circumstance, this is acceptable: customers don't get to ask staff to stay beyond their agreed upon hours to reopen the kitchen and make a plate. That's ludicrous. However, the obvious fact here is that the lack of organization and understaffing increases the odds of orders getting lost (as ours was never entered) and not communicating with customers for long stretches (the server's inattention delayed addressing this until after closing). We requested the order well before the kitchen closed, yet left hungry and dissatisfied, but moreover left with the impression of a poorly run restaurant unlikely to continue as an economically viable business with its current trend. read more

Im not big fan of junky food but decided to break my rules to try out this place. Wish they have bigger menu with some kind of chicken stuff. We ordered 2 turkey burgers (caliante and turkey cheese burger) it comes with fries on side but u can replace it with salad. How do you "value cleanliness" when it's 8:30 pm and the bathroom has not been checked all day? This bathroom was disgusting and smelled bad. There was no toilet paper, paper towels on the floor, no seat covers and when told about it, all they did was put toilet paper out but not on the roll. Shows they definitely didn't take the time to actually clean. And there still was no seat covers after we reported the conditions. The food was not great either. Had to send my lemonade back. The syrup in the strawberry lemonade taste like medicine and it was bubbly like soda water but it was supposed to be juice. The waitress was nice enough to replace it but the second was just as terrible. My friend,s water tasted off too. I ordered the seafood plate and the fish and shrimp were over cooked or or tasted like the oil needed to be changed. It was too hard. Our waitress was great but around 8:50 she came by and nicely asked us if we wanted anything else because the kitchen was about to close. We left at about 9:15 and people were still being let in. My kids have never been to a diner and they had been bugging me to go. I told them it's not different than an ihop but they insisted. I used to to to rubys when I lived in Pasadena and I loved it back then. We went to Disneyland so decided to stop here first for lunch. Yuck!! My burger was tasteless!! And the fries were gross. I'm not sure why so many people give Ruby's such a bad review. It was my first time and I didn't know what to order, so I got the Gauc Burger. I was expecting some regular burger with some avocado in it, but it wasn't just avocado, it had some other stuff mixed with it. I think it was like peppers or something. Whatever it was, it was a GOOD burger. I pretty much devoured it, lol! The fries were pretty good too. I got an Arnold Palmer to drink, but sorry to say it want a good mixture. You always want to put more lemonade, but they just did 50/50 mix. I don't really know what others are complaining about, but I had a great time with great service with great food. Our waitress was very patient as the 3 of us were waiting for our fourth party member to arrive as she was finishing her shopping. We ordered a few beers and when our last member arrived we ordered some appetizers: calamari, fried green beans, and onion rings. All really good but the calamari had batter that was too thick, it was the same as the other appetizers but they were vegetables (green bean and onion) and the calamari is seafood (which generally cook quicker) hence it was too rubbery and over cooked. We also ordered the seared tuna salad, caliente turkey burger and apple pecan salad. All the entrees were delicious! My husband and I came across this place while shopping at the Citadel outlets. We figured it was the best option considering there is only a small food court. As a vegetarian, they only had three options. A grilled cheese, a vegwich, and a salad. I chose the vegwich and it was awful. It tasted like they put kraft American cheese with avocado and tomato and was bland and honestly, disgusting. I can make better food myself and pay much less. My husband got a burger and onion rings. Recently, my wife and I spent the night at the Doubletree by Hilton next door and around dinner time, we discovered that the restaurant inside of the hotel was closed. Fortunately, Ruby's was just a short walk across the parking lot. I ran over there and placed a to-go order for my wife and I (thank you for having healthy turkey burgers on the menu!) and within a short amount of time, the food was ready. My wife and I enjoyed the food so much that we stopped by for breakfast the next morning before we drove back home to San Diego. This place is definitely recommended for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's a horrible place. I don't often write reviews, but I was really let down by this. I went here with my partner to eat, however after our server left on break and we asked for the check, everything went wrong. Our check was only meant to be about thirty dollars, but they charged my boyfriend fifty-seven dollars. After that, our new server promised to rectify it and took his card once more, charging it for our initial payment without even allowing us to see the check to make sure she hadn't made a mistake. She went on to tell us that it will take three to five business days for the fifty-seven dollars to return to his account. We basically ended up spending about 80 dollars...even though we would be getting back the 57 dollars in 3-5 business days what if I really needed that 57 dollars right then and there so that was messed up. So we then tried to complain to the manager Lina but she was no help at all she had an attitude with us basically the whole time and was not apologetic at all. She told us mistakes happen but we tried to ask for some type of compensation but she couldn't even do that. I would also not recommend the chicken tenders.. they were very hard to eat because how gross they were you can tell they are from the freezer and the water is most definitely tap water you can't even enjoy it. i was craving a diner experience so we decided to checkout Ruby's. it was pretty busy but we were seated promptly, after a 5 minute wait or so. it took roughly 10-15 minutes to get our menus. our server was attentive after we ordered and our food came promptly. i ordered a burger with chili and my friend ordered the chicken tenders. both dishes were lukewarm and bland - no flavor at all. we ate half our meals since we were hungry and left the rest. it was neither great, nor terrible.. but honestly we will not go back. there are plenty of other diners with much better food. read more
