I never thought I would see the day where I give a For The Win location less than 5 stars, but here we are. I ended up in Montebello by chance and looked to Yelp for some help with lunch. I ended up at a little food court that had a few solid looking options, but sometimes when you see a burger and smell a burger, you simply need to eat the dang burger. There was no line when my wife and I approached the window to order and we ordered a double cheeseburger, a grilled cheese, an order of fries, and a milkshake. Now, instead of simply giving us the price the dude working told us how it was going to take a really long time because he would have to make the burgers and the milkshakes, which ya know, is kind of how it works when you order food. So instead of questioning his logic, I just said forget the shake and ordered the food. The food took literally 8 minutes to come out and I can't imaging the milkshake would of caused that much trouble since they are ordered all the time, but who am I to say? The food was great, as For The Win always is. The french fries were great and so was my burger, but the lackluster interaction with the kid working really put a damp on the experience. Overall, For The Win is still my favourite burger chain in LA and it's going to take a lot for someone to knock them down (although Burgers Never Say Die and Irv's are up there too). My boyfriend took me to Broguiere's nearby so we decided to stop at the Blvd Market food hall while we were already in the area. For the Win is one of the indoor businesses in the food hall. Parking can be a struggle, this was one of the only spots we found appealing in the food hall. For the Win is known for their smash burgers. They all come with a toasted potato bun, grilled onions, pickle and fry sauce. Since we weren't too hungry we decided to share. We got their Hamburger ($8). They were nice enough to cut the burger in half for us. We also got an order of Fries ($4.95). We were the only customer there so the order was ready pretty quickly. You can seat yourself anywhere at the food hall. To the food hall staff's credit, they were all vigorously cleaning constantly. One of the cleaner food halls I've been to. When we unwrapped the burger it was smaller than we expected and super thin too. I really enjoyed the taste of the burger but not for the price tag. I get equal to greater satisfaction for the In and Out burger that costs less. Nevertheless nice trying at least once. read more

Food: The burgers and fries here are good. Great in flavor, patties are not over burnt and the sauce is flavorful. Plenty of cheese and the smashed patties are good in size. Pairs great with a Mexican Coke. The burger is a little greasy though but good overall. Service: It's simple here. You just go up to the window, order your food and they hand you an alerting device for when your food is ready for pick up. Staff were nice and friendly there. Ambiance. It's a nice little spot hidden within the food court as they have two entrances. The main door on Whittier blvd or the other way to come in through the external food court. They have plenty of seating tables and tvs to watch while you eat. Some tables have electrical outlets if you want to charge your phone or work on your laptop. There's restrooms located outside in the external food court as well. Very simple and clean inside and outside. There's a public parking lot next door on 6th street as well. Overall, this place & food is good and simple but just pricey IMO. For 2 double cheeseburgers, 2 fries and 2 Mexican cokes, it was about $46 in total. They even charge you .50¢ for lettuce and/tomato, it's not much but still... I wouldn't mind coming back again sometime. read more

My mother and son love their burgers so I decided to give this spot a try. Smash burgers. Very hearty and flavorful. Adding the jalapeños and bacon is a nice touch. The portions of fries and the size of the burgers fits the price. The service was good and looks very clean. For me, it's more of a on the go kind of venue or you can enjoy eating in the hall area or outdoors of all the nearby food spots of the Montebello mart. Finally got around to trying this spot and was not disappointed! I love smash burgers and this place does it right. It's located in a little food hall in Montebello. Wasn't too lively during the morning. I ended up ordering a double hamburger (+tomato/lettuce) as well as a single cheeseburger and sweet potato fries. Burgers were delicious, perfectly smashed and cooked. Wasn't dry and had the perfect amount of seasoning. The bun was buttery and slightly toasted. Sweet potato fries was a perfect compliment, perfectly fried with a crispy outer layer and a soft inner. The menu is small with a few burgers and fries. The BLVD Market concept is cool and I've been coming for a few years. This part of town is not very hip and doesn't have nice places for young people. It's great that For the Win is inside the building since you have seating and AC. I got a double cheeseburger with tomatoes and lettuce ($1 extra but worth it). It was a restaurant-quality burger for $15 (which is hard to swallow for this area). I didn't get much crispiness from the edges of the meat, but the beefy flavor was great along with the cheese and sauce. The burger was satisfying though quite messy with buns smaller than the meat patties. I think this place is getting franchised. I don't know what the original tasted like but I did like this burger. I don't think this joint belongs in this more low income part of town and makes more sense in a place like Pasadena. I don't know if it'll survive but good luck. read more

Not a great value at all. $9 for a cheeseburger, $12.50 for a double, or $16 for a triple, with pickles and some grilled onions, but if you want to add on anything else such as lettuce or tomato that's an additional charge (50 cents). I decided that I like lettuce in my burger so I coughed up the 50 cent charge (no big deal I figured). The lettuce isn't even one whole piece but the shredded style you normally find in salads or tacos. The burger itself is quite greasy and falls apart pretty easily. My hands were just a mess of sauce, patties sliding down the buns, and lettuce shreds falling out. The saving grace were the fries. They mentioned that For The Win would be offering $2.00 smashburgers, so as soon as I got off work, I headed to their Montebello location, which is situated on a busy street. After walking in, I placed my order and made my way to the back, where they have a small beer and wine bar. I decided to order a glass of red wine while waiting for my burger. When the burger arrived, I was a little disappointed by its size--but, I couldn't really complain about a $2.00 cheeseburger. However, after my first bite, all doubts disappeared. The burger was absolutely delicious, with the meat perfectly crisp and well-seasoned. This location would be a great spot to spend a relaxing evening with friends. This FTW location is located in a food hall. Parking is relatively easy with street parking nearby . I thought the smash burger was pretty good with crunchy edges . Keep in mind smash burger patties are on the thinner side? So don't expect a hunky juicy burger ! The burger is super simple, it comes with just pickles, onions, and their fry sauce. What can I say? It's probably the best burger you're going to find in Whittier and all surrounding areas. I haven't hit Easy Street yet and the other one, burgers never say die, but For The Win, is super delicious. My recommendation is get a double cheeseburger WITHOUT their sauce.
