We stopped by the Montebello area after a long day exploring East LA. We happened across For the Win inside the building. The service was friendly and fast and we got our smash burgers pretty quickly. I ordered a double cheeseburger with sweet potato fries that absolutely hit the spot. Would recommend stopping by for a bite-the AC inside felt amazing during this heatwave!!

First time at this location. I've had FTW before at GCM and the Alhambra location. This spot took over the Chicken Coop. I got a double cheese smash burger with japaleños and a side of fries and then walked over the Angry Horse to pair my meal with a beer. Burger was solid as always. But the lack of service and emotion from the cashier was the highlight. Dude didn't say a single word the entire time we ordered. Literally rang us up and said nothing.

The burger was honestly really good although for the price it would be nice if it came with fries. I also think I was missing the fresh veggies crunch with lettuce and tomato. But it was a good meat flavor and the cheese was amazing plus the pickles were a nice touch with their special sauce. I wouldn't crave this but I would eat here again if my friends were craving it.

My boyfriend took me to Broguiere's nearby so we decided to stop at the Blvd Market food hall while we were already in the area. For the Win is one of the indoor businesses in the food hall. Parking can be a struggle, this was one of the only spots we found appealing in the food hall. For the Win is known for their smash burgers. They all come with a toasted potato bun, grilled onions, pickle and fry sauce. Since we weren't too hungry we decided to share. We got their Hamburger ($8). They were nice enough to cut the burger in half for us. We also got an order of Fries ($4.95). We were the only customer there so the order was ready pretty quickly. You can seat yourself anywhere at the food hall. To the food hall staff's credit, they were all vigorously cleaning constantly. One of the cleaner food halls I've been to. When we unwrapped the burger it was smaller than we expected and super thin too. I really enjoyed the taste of the burger but not for the price tag. I get equal to greater satisfaction for the In and Out burger that costs less. Nevertheless nice trying at least once.

Food: The burgers and fries here are good. Great in flavor, patties are not over burnt and the sauce is flavorful. Plenty of cheese and the smashed patties are good in size. Pairs great with a Mexican Coke. The burger is a little greasy though but good overall. Service: It's simple here. You just go up to the window, order your food and they hand you an alerting device for when your food is ready for pick up. Staff were nice and friendly there. Ambiance. It's a nice little spot hidden within the food court as they have two entrances. The main door on Whittier blvd or the other way to come in through the external food court. They have plenty of seating tables and tvs to watch while you eat. Some tables have electrical outlets if you want to charge your phone or work on your laptop. There's restrooms located outside in the external food court as well. Very simple and clean inside and outside. There's a public parking lot next door on 6th street as well. Overall, this place & food is good and simple but just pricey IMO. For 2 double cheeseburgers, 2 fries and 2 Mexican cokes, it was about $46 in total. They even charge you .50¢ for lettuce and/tomato, it's not much but still... I wouldn't mind coming back again sometime.

My mother and son love their burgers so I decided to give this spot a try. Smash burgers. Very hearty and flavorful. Adding the jalapeños and bacon is a nice touch. The portions of fries and the size of the burgers fits the price. The service was good and looks very clean. For me, it's more of a on the go kind of venue or you can enjoy eating in the hall area or outdoors of all the nearby food spots of the Montebello mart. The brussels sprouts are a little too drenched with sauce for my liking. The sweet potatoes fries are good. Great burgers and fries. I'd come back.

This is honestly the best burger ive ever had. I love the sl8ght spice to it . I can taste the black pepper . The fries are delicious . This hamburger is addicting . I did recieve $10 cards since i order un grubhub but when i try to use it it doesnt discount anything. So not sure if it can only be used in person .

Great ambiance in a little food court area with several choices of food that include For the Win Hamburgers. The music radio over speaker is playing soft soul music and outdoor live Spanish music tonight (Sunday). People are happily dancing and eating. I ordered a cheeseburger, Brussels Sprouts and Sparkling drink. The Sprouts were juicy and tasty . A bit burnt but a normal burnt cook for Sprouts l enjoyed the juicy cheeseburger. It it is a bit small but very juicy. About the size of a cheeseburger from McDonalds pretty similar but more authentic tasting.

These are yummy burgers! Especially on national cheeseburger day. We ordered 2 singles with bacon and a side of fries. It was plenty of food for both of us. The burgers were crunchy, cheesy and ooey gooey deliciousness. The fries were good too. I could dltake or leave the ranch. Seemed store bought but the fry sauce was bomb. I love to eat the pickles off first. Then eat the rest of the burger. Only real complaint is the food wasn't too hot. The service was ok and you order with them, or with a screen if no one is there. We ended up ordering 2 more cheeseburgers to go and they lost our order so we had to go ask for it after 20 min. Instead of saying they lost it they pretended it was still working but i watched the cashier look for the order on the screen and then come back to the register, reprint, then put up the reprinted order...and then they magically came out about 5 min later. Finally got around to trying this spot and was not disappointed! I love smash burgers and this place does it right. It's located in a little food hall in Montebello. Wasn't too lively during the morning. I ended up ordering a double hamburger (+tomato/lettuce) as well as a single cheeseburger and sweet potato fries. Burgers were delicious, perfectly smashed and cooked. Wasn't dry and had the perfect amount of seasoning. The bun was buttery and slightly toasted. Sweet potato fries was a perfect compliment, perfectly fried with a crispy outer layer and a soft inner. The menu is small with a few burgers and fries. I enjoyed the simplicity of it and also the quality. Yes it's expensive, we spent $29 for two burgers and a fries but I can say it makes a good meal forsure.

The hype is real. Top 5 smash burger for sure. Small burger that packs a big punch. Flavorful patty cooked to perfection. Their sauce and pickles are delicious. A little pricey at $13 plus for a double cheeseburger with no drink or fries. It's roughly the same size as a Macdonald's cheeseburger. The service was good. I would definitely recommend.

We are not from here but went on a side quest on our way home based on a Tik Tok review. I cannot give this place enough stars!!! 100/10!!! Simple yet delicious! The bread is what did it for me... so soft! I don't usually eat much but quickly learned I could easily get a double or a triple, it is that good!!!

The BLVD Market concept is cool and I've been coming for a few years. This part of town is not very hip and doesn't have nice places for young people. It's great that For the Win is inside the building since you have seating and AC. I got a double cheeseburger with tomatoes and lettuce ($1 extra but worth it). It was a restaurant-quality burger for $15 (which is hard to swallow for this area). I didn't get much crispiness from the edges of the meat, but the beefy flavor was great along with the cheese and sauce. The burger was satisfying though quite messy with buns smaller than the meat patties. I think this place is getting franchised. I don't know what the original tasted like but I did like this burger. I don't think this joint belongs in this more low income part of town and makes more sense in a place like Pasadena. I don't know if it'll survive but good luck.

Super tiny McDonald's sized burger. Overpriced and the loaded fries were underwhelming as well. Service was decent nothing special and the wait was appropriate for the order. Wouldn't be back though, the burger was delicious but not filling and should cost $6, not $10 read more

The burgers are fantastic. The chicken in the chicken sandwich has great taste while not compromising being crispy. And the sweet potato fries are the best I've had! Just FYI you only order on an iPad at the cash register. We kept telling people in line as there is no sign to tell guest that. Also, I paid $1 extra for tomatoes & it was missing. read more

As a local, we were excited to try this new spot. We usually drive to Pasadena for quality food options so I was hopeful this would be a new favorite as I live down the street. It was a total failure. There is a reason why they have resorted to offering free food to essentially coerce positive reviews. We Doordashed the order today and this is how it went. $47.80 for TWO double patty burgers with extra cheese and bacon. Keep in mind lettuce and tomato are NOT included. The bacon was missing on both burgers (but they sure as sh*t kept the $2.95 extra they charged for each serving). The burgers themselves were okay but NOT extraordinary or memorable (meat, cheese, grilled onions, small bun) and certainly not worth the steep price. I'll stick to the grassfed burger at Granville for the same price which comes with fries, a thick patty, and all the fixings. The $9.25 strawberry shake was missing from the order. The $7 fries were terrible. Offensively terrible. Unequivocally terrible. No seasonings. Skinny and limp. Truly, In-n-Out has better fries (which is saying a lot). And remember these are SEVEN DOLLARS. Oh, and the "fry sauce" basically mayo and Thousand Island dressing (how ingenious) was an extra $2 for a teeny tiny cup. Doordash refunded the missing products (which took two calls and 20 minutes of my time) but the entire experience was pitiful. Does Montebello need more high-quality food options, yes, but THIS is NOT it. We don't need some pretentious overpriced Michelin-gourmand-coattail-riding trash telling locals the problem isn't the utter failure of this business but instead, the problem is with the community not being sophisticated enough to appreciate pompous garbage. And I say this as someone who has an Erewhon Membership. In other words, the price isn't the issue (I'm not a povo), the problem is what they deliver for the price is embarrassing. The value is not there. The attention to detail is not there. The quality is not there. The community is full of hard-working people who want to spend their well-earned money on something that offers good value and quality. To that end, this place is truly lacking. The irony of calling this place "For the Win" is apparently lost on the owners. read more

Delicious cheeseburger spot. Ordered w/bacon, lettuce & tomatoes also tried the regular & sweet potato fries. Did NOT disappoint. Location is casual and chill. Some people had their pups w/team. We were tired of our usual spots in our local area and I'm so glad we tried this place. Service was good and fast. We'll be back. Definitely worth trying. read more

I wanted to try this place since they opened here in Montebello at BLVD MARKET. What a disappointment! The meat was burned it had no taste because it was so burned that it was crunchy! I wanted to go back and return it but we were tired and already home. We ended making some sandwiches for dinner. I won't go back this was my first and last time. And they are too expensive for not being a good smash hamburgers. read more

We have been here a few times, the sweet potato fries are definitely the way to go over the regular french fries! The burger was good but we wish that they added more pickles. We did ask for extra but I think we only got one haha also, they charge if you want to add lettuce and tomato and the one time we ordered it, we only got one slice of tomato. I wouldn't say this is our favorite smash burger but it's pretty good and convenient if you live in the area and you have a craving! I think our favorite item is the sweet potato fries since we have always had a positive experience and they have never been soggy or greasy. read more

Hands down one of the best burgers that I've had in a while. The service is great but not over the top. I only would add they should allow you to make phone orders. It's in a food court, so there's plenty of seating plenty of things to look at and catch your attention as well as Complementary to wanting to eat your food there. read more

I was offered a free cheeseburger at any FTW location through For The Win's Instagram, but this location refused to accept it? We drove about 20miles to get here so that was pretty disappointing. It also smells like sewage in the building. Update: FTW Instagram reached out and resolved the issue. The manager (or cashier), Kevin, at time of coming back was very friendly and made sure everything was taken care of. We got two double cheeseburgers, fries, and fry sauce. Everything was great. The inside of the food hall still smelled a little, but definitely not as bad as last time. read more

Let's just address the elephant in the room here five dollars for a can of soda $10 for not freshly cut french fries. You've gotta be kidding me and $10 for a burger that doesn't include either one of those things. This is fast food, ladies and gentlemen I get it. They're a small chain, but to pay the same as you would in a sit down restaurant is unrealistic there's plenty of mom and Pops burger shops here in Montebello that offer the same great taste for better value whose price even through inflation reflect a value that is suitable for their patrons! This was disappointing. I heard so many great things about For The Win, so I was excited to try the Montebello location. What I'll say is the food was okay, not bad, but not great. But then when you factor in the cost, the value just isn't there. I love a good smash burger, and I thought the previous smash burger place at BLVD did a great job, but this was crushed their meat to almost be paper thin, so it was basically just a crisp. The only good bite was right in the center. I've probably had single meat patties in burgers from other fast food establishments that looked bigger than my double smash burger here. Additionally, the sweet potato fries were a slight bit too burnt and the vanilla milkshake just tasted like frozen whipped cream. It just felt like a lot of money to spend for a mediocre meal. Unfortunately, unless something changes, I can't justify coming back. read more

Second time eating here, and apparently I need to be very loud and raise my voice when ordering next time... I order a triple HAMburger with "nothing on it but the meat and bun". Added bacon and a drink. The meal comes out and naturally it takes me until 10 minutes later when I'm at my house to realize that they gave me a cheeseburger instead (and overcharged me because of it). I take it back to explain what happened, and the guy behind the counter has the audacity to claim that I told him I wanted a cheeseburger. AND the audacity to tell me that he can remake it, but that I "have to be clear next time." Are you KIDDING me? Who do you think you are? I don't like cheese (at all), so why would I tell him I wanted a cheeseburger?? I even told him this, and instead of just admitting to his mistake and accepting the fact that he misheard me, he continues to insist that I told him I wanted a cheeseburger. Unbelievable behavior. He didn't offer to refund me the extra 2 dollars I was charged as well. Definitely considering never returning if this is what I have to deal with. read more

I was beyond stoked to find out this location was opening only 5 minutes for me! I was fed up driving over 30 mins each time I needed a smashburger fix. And I could never bring it home because it's just not the same compared to fresh. I was 6th in line (was really hoping to be first because I was first for a boba place the day before and I wanted to get a trend going for myself) compared to the 100 or so behind me for their grand opening day, which consisted of a free cheeseburger with purchase. The cashier was grinning from ear to ear, I could sense his excitement for the event. There was also a kiosk, and they had a pick up window on the outside, but it wasn't of use yet. There was lots of bustle behind him, workers frantically doing their best to get demand for their big day out. Everything was so satisfying! The burger texture, the fries, beyond delicious! The previous tenant was chicken...so boring. I really hope the community keeps this place going forever! read more

Overpriced. Should be called for the loss. Sure it doesn't taste bad. Soft bread. But $13 for cheeseburger you will see in the picture. We finished it in 6 bites. It's tiny. I really don't think this place is gonna last. I was hopeful because I like to be supportive of the businesses here at Blvd Market. But alas not ordering from there again. Gonna start with a little rant about the the negative reviewers. We don't have a lot of good food joints in this neighborhood to begin with, maybe being hyper critical of restaurants taking a chance here isn't the best idea. I'm all for constructive criticism but jumping on here to talk trash instead of having a dialogue with the restaurant helps no one. I've been here a few times now the staff have been friendly and helpful. The burger has been a solid 10 each time. Solid 10. If you're of a fan of a smash burger this place is it. The space is a little compact but there is ample seating both inside and outside. Take a chance next time you're craving a good burger For the Win has you covered. read more

When you walk in, you're greeted by the iPad you order on and not a worker in sight. What you might notice first are the very high prices that are for every item on the menu. A cheeseburger without anything added is about $10. Small order of old fries $5, and a can of coke $3 at the time of writing this. The food took 20 minutes to come out, and somehow the food was already cold. The meat on my cheeseburger was burnt as well. Food did not come out to anything like what they advertise on social media. This place should honestly be called For The LOSS. The burgers are mediocre at BEST. The patty is thinner than a piece of paper. The fries are floppier than an overcooked asparagus and had as much flavor and seasoning as a stale rice cake. And lettuce and tomato aren't even included. WTF do you mean it costs a dollar extra for a piece of LEAF? Will not be coming back. read more

The second visit "could've been better" (which Yelp suggests that a 2 star rating would be appropriate to indicate): we placed quite a simple order - 2x Strawberry Sundaes. We took our number placard (#52) and sat at a table to await our order. After patiently waiting what I would estimate to be approximately 15-20 minutes and seeing quite a few other people served their orders, I did find it odd that it was taking so long to prepare 2x sundaes, so I located the young man who took our order and politely inquired about it. He looked a bit confused, exchanged some unintelligible words one of the guys on the grill, and then looked back at me and said it was not our turn yet (or something to that effect). Okay, fair enough. Maybe there were many orders ahead of us. I took it in good stride and went back to my table. After waiting approximately another 15-20 minutes and seeing that *Order #70* was being given their food, I realized that there was a problem and went back up to the ordering counter. I ended up talking with an old man (who I presume is the owner/manager). I explained the situation, and he inquired who had taken our order. I looked around, and the young man appeared to be nowhere in sight, but I did mention it was he who had had taken our order. The old man apologized and assured us he would take care of our order right away. Sure enough, I saw him beeline to the ice cream machine to start our sundaes, and he delivered them to us within 2-3 minutes. He apologized a second time, stating that it was the young man's 2nd day on the job, and that he otherwise would not have forgiven the transgression. In my experience, the resolution to the absurd wait could have been handled worse (in theory, the old man could certainly have told us to pound sand rather than apologizing and immediately attempting to correct the problem and quickly getting our desserts after being made aware of his employee's failure), but also could have been handled better (comping us for the trivial cost of the sundaes as a remedy/cure would have more effectively salved our irritation from the unnecessary waste of 30+ minutes of our life, and would have been in-line with remedial efforts I have experienced at other eateries, including similar fast food/burger joints). All that said, the sundaes were quite good. They would undoubtedly have tasted better had they been served in a time frame reasonable enough to not spoil the mood. I get that this is not a fine dining restaurant of any sort, but I still expect staff competence to be no worse than that of a McDonald's baseline level. I also get that humans make mistakes, but ... how did a simple order of 2x sundaes get botched this badly, particularly after a good faith attempt to bring the matter to staff's attention??

I'm a local to Montebello, was driving down the street and saw they had for the win at the bvld market. So today I went to try it out. Prices are kinda expensive and charge for everything literally everything. I was the only one order did take about 20 mins for my order. The burger was okay, nothing out of the ordinary.
