It's all fun and games until you chew the meat! Now I see why they scour the meat for "just the right piece" of chicken when handing out samples. The two meals were reasonably priced, but when considering how much food was wasted due to being fried cartilage, the portions were actually pretty small. The service was fine. Typical for a food court establishment. The worst part was the size of the Pepsi. I'm not sure why they offer sizes, because the two sizes are one of the same and laughably small. A "large" was a very small, and flimsy, styrofoam cup that leaked onto me every time I attempted to hold it. The edible part of the food was overflowing with a ponzu flavor that dominated our mouths. I mean, it's what you expect it to be. It's not like you go to Mall of America and the CAN'T MISS spot is Thai kitchen. It's cheap and not too bad. I got the tofu eggplant (there was no eggplant, it was zucchini), with pad Thai (.50 extra - it was like a curry noodle) and a spring roll. The service was fine. The staff was pleasant and the long line told me why. If you're allergic to peanuts don't order anything that normally has it in it. They may forget depending on the customer traffic. I ordered my dish spicy and if you are from a country or region here in the states that has a good heat tolerance just know that spicy will not register on your tastebuds. We were able to get the chef's special here today which included roasted vegetables, lo mein (or fried rice if you chose), and the chef's mango chicken. The food was good and the line moved quick despite it being very busy. The food was premade and served into to-go containers which was very efficient but meant the food wasn't the freshest. The chicken didn't have the best crunch to the breading but the flavor was still good despite not having much of an actual mango presence. The vegetables were cooked well but no real flavor was added and the noodles were good quality along with having big portions. This is a good fix for some hearty food quick rather than having the wait for table service. Food is ordered at the counter cafeteria style and they have Pepsi options along with bottled water available for purchase. They are bordering the mall food court as well so there is lots of seating nearby. Service was friendly and paying was easy as they accept both cash and card. Their menus are colorful and eye catching which displays and explains the different combinations available and the proteins are laid out in hot trays underneath glass so you can see exactly what you're going to order which is convenient. Everytime I come here I get the noodles & shrimp but a lady before me had gotten shrimp and there were only a couple pieces left. when it was my turn I asked the older lady with glasses how long it would be for the shrimp to come out & she immediately said no. I was confused and proceeded to ask her again, she rolled her eyes and started telling me in spanish that they were out. I got confused because I was speaking english the entire time there was no need to change the language based on my appearance. I said I was okay on the food & she yelled "f*ck you." First, food was good. Mango chicken, pad Thai - all acceptable mall fare. Service on the other hand was terrible. The employee talked down to my partner. We asked for an upgrade to shrimp pad Thai, and instead of saying we don't do that, he was just rude. Second, I was carrying three drinks, two entrees - and I asked for one of those cafeteria trays. He refused to give me a tray, saying they were only for noodles. So I carry three drinks and two entrees - spilling water everywhere. I don't recommend. Ordered 2 two item entree and got spicy chicken and orange chicken with 1/2 noodles & 1/2 rice. Both chicken entree items were full of gristle, breading and cartilage. The spicy chicken was overly loaded with to much spicy brown powder. Rice was dry and noodles were undercooked. Honestly, the entree made my stomach upset so quick it was really bad, and I have an iron gut. Very disappointed, go somewhere else and save yourself from a stomach ache. read more

The employees will try to aggressively offer you samples of their mango chicken, or anything else on the menu if you look even remotely interested. She literally handed me two toothpicks worth of pad Thai. The food is greasy, lacks flavor (asking for a side of hot sauce is a must!), and tastes nothing like Thai food. To me it's actually Chinese food without all the soy sauce, and ingredients subbed in like fish sauce and rice noodles. Worst service and very rude. I ordered my fried rice and since I wanted it little spicy, they said they would make it in the kitchen customized and I wait for 5 mins. I paid and pocketed my receipt(fortunately) and sat at the table across from there. When I go back to the counter after seeing that my order was out; they say who I was and deny that I even paid. I told them my order was customized and described what I ordered; but they were adamant. If you've been to the Mall of America, there's a good chance that you've taken a sample of the mango chicken from Ruby Thai (they hand them out on tooth picks all day) I frequent MOA and honestly, if I'm not eating at Tucci Benucch, I'm eating at this place in the food court. It's perfect in every way: price, portion size, quality, flavor... It's $6.99 average for a HUGE portion of a noodle/rice side with 2 HUGE entrees. I usually get the lo mein side with mango chicken and sub the other entree for wontons. I've had a hard time finding decent lo mein in the Twin Cities but this is by far the best I've found. Not heavily saturated in sauce, not overly soft noodles like at Leeann Chin; the consistency is always perfect. Same goes for the Mango chicken. Not only is the flavor on point, but it is deliciously crispy EVERY. TIME. How?! How is it both saucy AND crispy?! Witchcraft. If you're too cool for generic Americanized asian food, they also have a variety of fancy pants dishes here: pad Thai, basil beef, bang bang shrimp, bbq spicy chicken, bourbon chicken, some veggie stuff, and customizable Pho. Sad, we've been mall walking for the past two months and been committing to stop by and get food if it was ever open. Today was the day. It's a Sunday, the mall was busy, so we knew that any place we stopped would be a bit under the gun. That said, Ruby Thai failed so hard that it would be comical if it were not so sad. Here is the rundown of the experience: 1.) the menu boards advertise Pad Thai and Fried Rice, two of the simplest to prepare Asian staple dishes. From scratch, if you have all of the ingredients, you can prepare these dishes in minutes. If you order them at Ruby Thai, you most likely will be waiting for 20 min or more as they prepare them from scratch. You would think that would make the food better, but the quality of the final dishes is so poor it is not worth the wait. 2.) ordering was difficult. All off the counter staff had cheap paper masks on (most not wearing them in an effective manner) tons of plastic sneeze guards have also been added to give the impression of safety from Covid 19 exposure. I am sure this is meant to comply with measures enacted to increase sanitation, but it really makes communication hard. I attempted my order 4 times, the people behind the counter tried to inform me that my order had to be prepared to order, but between our lack of a shared language, not being able to see each others face and my ordering something that they prefer not to make I ended up setting for what was made for me vs what I ordered. I was clear and specific, my order was simple; two chicken pad Thai, low spice and a Thai Beef fried rice. I left with 1 med spice pad Thai and one spicy chicken pad Thai. The cashier offered to have the kitchen remake the spicy one, but it had already been 25 min since I started this particular food adventure. Ultimately, we ate both orders of pad Thai, it wasn't awful, it just wasn't good. The saddest part about the experience is not that we didn't enjoy the experience, it's that the proprietor is missing out on the opportunity to build something awesome by coupling an awesome location in the mall with decent food and acceptable service. Had this business been located elsewhere in the food court, I probably wouldn't have taken the time to write a review. If you are a Thai food lover or just being adventurous with your food choices, DO NOT eat here. It's not really Thai food, it's basically a Thai inspired Leann Chins with even poorer counter service. read more

This is by far the best Thai food I've eaten in twin cities. It was my first time at the Mall of America food court and I was struggling in my thoughts what to get - pizza or Thai.. A woman called out to me from the Ruby's Thai kitchen and handed me a toothpick with mango chicken.. It was delicious! I didn't have to think any further and I decided to grab my lunch from here.. This is a favorite amongst many people who frequent the Asian cuisine at MOA. I don't particularly like the fatty aspect of their chicken which is a meat I tend to lean toward when I eat out. I'm guessing they use all dark meat, thighs etc. they don't have normal cream cheese wantons which is a big disappointment to me. read more
