The red curry with chicken (+ extra chicken) and fried rice
Kevin B.

Sabbai offers your standard Thai and Cambodian cuisine without scaling things back for delicate Minnesotan palates. I tried the red curry with chicken. It was scrumptious and had a nice heat level - "a good burn," as the restaurant employee described it. You can adjust the spice level to your liking, so if you're spice-averse, then order "no spice" (notice: "mild" does not equal "no spice"). While it's not the most amazing southeast Asian food I've had, it hit the spot for lunch. Consider visiting Sabbai yourself if you're craving some Asian flavors.

Never again!

Typically service is great.... But today! my god the owner literally cursed me out for asking questions! I always get their boba tea. However wanting to switch it up I ask, "which drink uses real fruit vs powder" she said if you don't like it take your money somewhere else!?! 0-100??? I was just asking, she goes to say, "I don't give a shit" I responded. I'm very surprised on how your treating me for asking a question... she said " I am the owner here for 9 years and take your money somewhere else I don't care. "!!!!! WTF its sad to be treated this way and I've been coming here for those 9 years. The Husbands come out and apologized then waves me off. whoa! To be a Black woman in America! Lowest of caste?!? that what they think! so all that to say I will never come back here and neither will my family or GREEN money! There is no excuse to be treated this way. None.

Taro Bubble Tea
Dianna N.

This is ONLY reviewing their bubble tea. Their bubble tea is so fresh and delicious. They offer a variety of flavors. I had the Taro and by far I think this is the best I've had in the Twin Cities. Their bubbles were soft and chewy. The tea itself was so silky smooth.

Last Saturday, We decided to stop by at the global market to eat lunch. I ordered from here for my mom. A young teenage boy, who's probably the owner' son took my order. I ordered shrimp tum yum with rice and eggrolls. We waited 15-20 mins. When my mom got her order and she opened her order and she was very disappointed yo only find a cup of rice with her small containerof Tum Yum. Portion was ridiculously small for the rice and tum yum for $15. Not worth it. Taste was good but mostly liquid. Eggrolls was okay. One star for food and one star for customer service.

This has become a new go-to for me at Global Market. I have had five different items in past few months - pad thai, green curry, drunken noodles, kung pao, and fried rice. All are 9 or 10 out of 10. They can do anything vegetarian and make everything so fresh to order. Perfect little tofu triangles are just the right size and texture. Family run and always great service. Love love love Sabbai! Oh, and you better believe their cautions on the spice scale. Spicy level 3 had me uncomfortable and dripping sweat. Tasty but a bit awkward.

Red curry
Rick T.

While visiting the market I had to get the red curry here just to see how good it was. Well it wasn't that good and my order got screwed up which delayed me in trying the curry today for lunch. My wife had the Pai Thai I tried and that was much better in texture and flavor. So looks like this place is hit or miss on some their items they have for lunch. On the plus side the portion sizes were pretty big.

Taro

This review is only about the bubble tea as I have not had any food on the menu. I ALWAYS stop here if I'm in the area and especially if I'm already in Midtown Global Market. They have many bubble tea flavors. My favorites are the chai and taro. Quick and friendly service! Favorite bubble tea that I've had in the twin cities so far.

Mi Katang (Chicken)
Alan S.

The Mi Katang is wonderful. Freshly made to order, with generous portions of protein (I got the chicken, which had shockingly large and full flavored slices of fresh cut meat) and a voluminous portion of very fresh veggies. I asked for it extra spicy and, man, did it kick. The supple and complexly spiced - think a marriage of 5 spice and and South Asian aromatic spices - brown gravy that the noodles are cooked in (and which they soak up) perfectly complements the bird's eye pepper notes. I'd highly recommend this if you like your heat. A more than satisfying dinner on a cold night for under 10 bucks. What more could you ask for? Despite the fact that I've had a few solid meals at the Rabbit's Hole, Sabbai makes the food that I crave most at the Global Market.

Chicken pad Thai, cooked fresh to order!

If you like pad Thai, this is definitely a place to check out! It's located in the midtown global market. They cooked the pad Thai to order, and it was steaming hot and filled with chunks of chicken, pieces of egg, sliced onion, and topped with bean sprouts and peanuts. So delicious!!!

Love it here! My favorite place on the Global Market! Fried rice is awesome! Egg rolls however were unfortunately a disappointment.

It definitely leans more on the $$$ side, but the quality and overall experience make it worth it for a special night out. The vibe of the restaurant is one of my favorite parts though. It has such a warm, stylish atmosphere that feels both upscale and welcoming at the same time. The lighting is cozy, the decor is beautiful without feeling overdone, and the whole space has a trendy but relaxed energy that makes you want to stay awhile. It's perfect for date nights, catching up with friends, or celebrating something special without feeling overly formal. The staff has always been friendly and attentive too, which really adds to the overall experience.

First, I really wish we had been provided ice for our water since it's served from their room temp tap water vase setup. Also, the menu is VERY hard to read and I had a lot of questions about the ingredients. I just don't feel like our server walked us through the dishes/options very well, which would've helped a ton for first timers! Also, I wanted to try the Massaman for yummy brisket, but sadly they were out of it and didn't let us know until we tried ordering this meal. I wish they were proactive about letting us know it's out. With that being said, the food itself was still very yummy overall! For apps, the Siin Swan (beef jerky) is a MUST! It was a huge portion for the price and honestly one of the best values on the menu. The Thai basil wings were also incredible and definitely worth ordering here (or at Gai Noi or Lat14 if you've never had them before), they're so flavorful and crispy! For the "shareable" dishes, we ordered the green curry octopus and scallop crudo. I'm normally terrified of octopus/tentacles, but this dish was actually super good! The potatoes, peas, and bacon alongside it were delicious. The only thing missing was the green curry sauce didn't have a ton of flavor, which could've been the wow factor that pushed the dish over the top. The scallop crudo was a beautiful presentation, but looked nothing like the photos on Khâluna'a website. It's served cold in a chilled coconut lime broth. I personally LOVE lime and enjoyed it, but everyone else at the table thought it was overpowering. Also, the portion size was shockingly tiny for a dish labeled "to share" and costing $30+. These definitely felt more apps (or even individual entrees) than table shareables. I wish they changed this! The Laksa entrée was SO yummy! The peanut/chili tasting curry broth poured tableside was such a fun touch, and I appreciated it being served separately. Perfectly cooked shrimp, tofu, and all the toppings made this dish one of my favorites of the night. The bucatini, which I believe is one of their signature dishes, was also excellent, but definitely not your classic Italian bucatini, so just know that prior to ordering! It had chili/onion crunch toppings and a very undercooked homemade noodle, but somehow still worked because it was lightly sauced yet packed with flavor. Super unique and delicious! For dessert, the pecan shortbread was amazing with a homemade chocolate mousse that was TO DIE FOR! Don't skip this! Overall, really good eats, beautiful atmosphere, and creative dishes, but definitely a bit hit-or-miss when it comes to portion size and value for the price. I'm curious how their brunch is next!

Regular was a good size for my friend and I, especially when combined with our apps. The roasted chicken was tender and had really good flavor and color. I don't know why you say Papaya, I'm going to play Halo. The Hmong Village is a huge Warehouse full of textiles and trinkets and amazing Goods that are generally Vietnamese but also from all parts of the world. And at one end of this massive Warehouse of goodies and delights is this enormous endless row of magical food places which are serving everything from Pho to fake Chinese food to fake Japanese food to Korean food and even some real Chinese and Japanese to go with the Thai and the Filipino and a little bit of everything such as Laotian and Cambodian - but definitely heavy on the Vietnamese stuff as is the expectancy. The sad thing is that people on Yelp haven't really made a dent into these yet as I came here and noticed that probably only three or four of the 30 or 40 food places in this massive Market have even been put on Yelp yet. I've now put them all on Yelp and will be working my way through them each time I visit Saint Paul until I have put up pix of various dishes at each one. But if you live around here and you come here more regularly than I do, what's your excuse? Give all of these places a try! Put them on the map! Figure out which ones are the true hidden gems! Why go to Ye Olde Basic Brewery yet again for yet another pale ale and yet another microbrew craft beer and some more freaking Mozzarella Sticks. You can come here and do what Yelp is really all about which is trying new things and putting little places like this on the map.
