Love in the form of macau pork belly
    Angela B.

Cash only $25/1 lb Wow. I had this bookmarked for a bit and I'm so glad I went. One of the best finds of 2025. Even though I'm trying to reduce my red meat consumption, this spot makes that immensely more difficult. The macau pork belly is everything. From the crispy skin, to the luscious fat, to the juicy meat, wow.. I have no words lol let's just say my tastebuds went on a rollercoaster called ayahuamacaully (terrible pun for ayahuasca + macau pork belly) with every chew. There was still two slabs left when I came into the shop at 1-2pm.

We got take out from Ruby BBQ Cantonese food. Solid food in large portions compared to others. Very good Wok hay flavor on the Fried Rice and Beef Chow Fun. A shared parking lot. Place is kind of small. Rating: 4 Stars

DISGUSTING!! I went here after a long day of work and craved authentic noodles and string beans. I got my order and went home to eat with my family AND THEN I PULLED A PIECE OF CURLED HAIR OUT OF MY FOOD! I'm Please check your food before you eat it! I'm so disappointed

    Roasted duck (half) $17.99.

Free parking at the onsite parking lot. Parking never been a problem. Been coming here since they opened many years ago. The food was really good. We usually get the roasted pork but the waitress convinced us to get the duck. Half of the roasted duck was $17.99. It was really good. We also got the vegetables with dried fish. It was a big place of veggies for $13.99. The fried mien with beef was $13.99 and also a big portion. The food came with soup and rice. The wait staff could be more courteous. Most customers order the food to go. Come for the food, not for the service.

They are nice. Good small place. Food is good, fresh & tasty. Service is friendly, despite being very busy. Order ahead for pick up, especially during lunch time!

    Mapo tofu, crispy pork belly

Rating overall is 4.5/5. Found this place through one of my friends mentioning how it was pretty popular! Note that it's a bit more expensive and cash only! Roast duck (4.5/5): the duck was very flavorful and juicy and exactly what I was looking for in a roast duck. Crispy pork belly (4.5/5): I've had this plenty of times before at many places but I was pretty shocked at how crispy the skin actually was at rubys. Would definitely get again. Mapo tofu (3.5/5): their mapo tofu portion was pretty large and it was on the simpler side which made it very easy to eat. I rated it a bit lower because my personal taste for mapo tofu is for it to be a bit spicier and less starchy in consistency.

So so disappointed for the bbq duck they gave me on 12/19. While I was paying for my food He sneaked 1 of the dry looking 1 day old duck And started cutting it he didn't give me a chance to choose the one I wanted. my 93 yrs old mom she was saying why the meat so dry and tasteless. Sorry never again will get bbq ducks from them.

This is a hidden gem! Family Style! It's a small little family owned restaurant in a plaza. All the dishes are delicious and made fresh! It's always best to eat there to enjoy the de-fry crispiness! My fav is #57. Everything is flavored. However, the de-fry seems to be the same flavor just either pork or chicken. Either way, we enjoyed it all. Checkout the prices on the menu! Everything on the menu is between $12.99-$16.99 except for two items at $17.99. Or unless you buy the roasted pig. Look at the amount they give for the price! Not bad IMO! The mom and son are always nice! We will always come back here.

I am so glad to have found this gem via Yelp! It's a no frills spot in a shopping center that I've passed by so many times without knowing it was there. I saw the lunch plate photos on Yelp of the duck and roast pork combo and knew I had to try it. It was empty when we arrived which confused me since the reviews say they are really busy and sell out fast, but nonetheless I showed the lady the photo of the combo I wanted and the guy quickly chopped up the order. The plate was hefty and the amount of food they give you is shareable. The pork was so delicious and so crispy! The skin was perfect! The duck was ok, I wouldn't order that again. The sauce was very good and soaked into the rice perfectly. The pork was so good that we came back later in the day to just order more a la cart to take home. Service was friendly and quick. Easy parking in a private lot.

Roasted pork is now $21.99/lb and the duck is $31.99/lb Will update when I get home and try the food.

Do they cook with MSG? I'm allergic?

There's MSG in virtually every food item not just Asian food. MSG is also in majority of American food and snacks too. What are your allergy symptoms? This question should be asked directly to the restaurant by calling them.

Do they do whole roasted pig? And price range?

Not sure about the price. They did say 3 days in advance notice on their wall.

    Can you pre-order?

    Yes.

We originally were hoping for 7 or 7:30, but based on how busy and popular this place is I can see why they said no. Come early and get seated right away and there's still ample parking in their parking lot. By the time we left at 7:30p, the lot was packed and people circling around hoping to snag a spot from folks leaving. The restaurant is pretty large and has about 3 rooms with different size tables and booths. No matter the size of your party, there's a table that will accommodate. The staff were very nice and attentive and FAST! We had our food out probably 15 min after we put in our order! Now...on to the food. We ordered one of the set menus for our party of 7 and it was spot on! As you can see in the pictures we had all the "classics". Our set meal could easily be enjoyed by at least 10 people. We had so many leftovers! The food was all well prepared and sufficiently seasoned. Portions of each dish was plentiful and everyone will be able to get enough to satisfy. My favorite items: lobster (duh!), kung pao chicken, pork chops, and shaking beef. The seafood soup is a great starter, and don't forget to add a little vinegar and pepper! Great restaurant in the SGV. This location is much bigger than their Rowland Heights restaurant, but the food is exactly the same. This is a great alternative to the popular Newport Seafood, so don't sleep on this place!

What disappointed me the most was the hygiene issue -- sand in the dishes is a basic handling mistake. I hope the restaurant will pay serious attention to ingredient cleaning and kitchen hygiene. I strongly do not recommend this place. Very disappointing.

The beef loc lac was tough, deep fried fish sauce tasted weird with their sweet sour sauce, pea sprouts which I was trying to change to another dish but couldn't, sure enough was so fibrous & chewy. The special fried rice was so full of all different kinds of meat that it was like a meal in itself. With 10 different dishes it would have been better to serve plain white rice. However, if you want to try something a little different, there are some "traditional" Kaiping specialties that I haven't seen on menus anywhere else. I've always come with my family and have received great service because my dad knows the staff. They speak my home dialect so I'm sure there's some bias there. Foodwise, I've tried quite a bit and haven't had any dishes that didn't hit the mark for me. Standouts for me are the big claypot yellow eel rice, their specialty roast goose (the 2 dishes just listed may require a preorder but again, my dad usually handles all the ordering), their beansprout with pig intestine, and their egg plant with salted fish. The claypot rice is ordered by the kilo so really is a big party dish but has nice succulent pieces of eel, really well cooked rice, and then of course the crispy rice at the bottom. The goose is very flavorful and not super gamey, it has more of a meaty texture and bite than the younger poultry an American pallette may be used to so word of warning. I really like the beansprout with pig intestine, again not really gamey but very savory with very tender, fatty pieces of intestine (highly recommend even if you're hesitant with intestine). The eggplant with salted fish is also intensely savory with a pungency from the salted fish that may seem like a lot but melds really well with the sauce and overall flavor of the dish. Though I haven't tried every dish on their menu, I've tried quite a bit and can confidently say they'll bring out some tasty Chinese dishes.
