Royale is home base for me. Great burger. Top 5 in NYC! You can't go wrong on the food. The vibe is good. The workers are friendly and professional and the food is always fresh and good. One area of improvement is turnaround on food some times. Sometimes they have 1 chef working and can create delays on food but totally worth the wait! read more

Royale is the perfect spot for meeting up with friends for food and drinks, or to simply have a casual spot for catching a game. The service is excellent as is the food and they are great about switching out their draft beers on a regular basis. I highly recommend the Royale (burger), their chicken sandwiches, their turkey club and their sweet potato fries. read more

Chill bar in the East Village. We came for happy hour (which ends at 7) and to watch the Knicks game. $6 select drafts and $7 mixed drinks! We enjoyed our drinks. We also got burgers and fries and tots to share. My favorite thing were the tater tots-- they were so perfectly crispy. I also got the Royale burger with cheese ($13). It came with a huge patty and was a solid burger. Service was friendly and fast. I'd come back for more happy hours! read more

Great smash burger. Vibes are also impeccable for a later dinner and transition to early drinks kind of night. I like the patio seating area but inside seems cozy too. read more

Unassuming spot in Alphabet City. Nice outdoor dining that's well off the sidewalk and protected from the street side. Inside is high top and bar seating. Bar tender served me and was attentive. This is mainly a burger and sandwich joint. You can also get a club, grilled cheese, a burrito, chicken and steak sandwiches, salads. They have a brunch that essentially brunch-ifies everything I just mentioned. I had the Royale with cheddar cheese, medium. It was juicy, not greasy, well seasoned, and cooked appropriately. It was a great burger. The fries were fantastic! Light, airy, crispy, tasty! The photo speaks for itself! I saw them being cut fresh in the kitchen. They have sweet potato fries and tater tots as well, and you can get toppings such as chili cheese. But these fries are amazing on their own. I had a couple cocktails, the All Things Nice and Smoky the Bear. Both light and easy to drink, but nothing particularly special. Would go here again for the nice outdoor seating and the super burger and fries. For the meal and two cocktails, around 55 dollars without tip. The burger and fries were separate (11 for burger, 6 for fries). Average price in Manhattan and makes it easy for people to pick and choose sides and apps. read more

My street hockey team gathers at royale occasionally. We had a team hang on Sunday. As always royale is a great place to gather. Great beers and burgers. The only thing that would improve the experience is a waitress to handle the tables rather than the bartender running around so much. read more

Really great burger(The Marsellus Wallace), cooked to perfection. Was recommended by a friend and just happened to be in the neighborhood. Had a couple of pints of Guinness to go along with it. No complaints at all. Ample space at the bar and seating for groups by the bar, along with outdoor seating. Pretty chill spot to hit before you go out and about to do nefarious things afterwards. Great food 10/10 read more

I had an amazing experience here. I came to check it out because I found online that they were a great place to have an open bar, but I wanted to check it out before confirming. I was greeted immediately on entering, everyone was so kind to me and the back patio area is gorgeous for an open bar. I sat at the bar and Haley took care of me and she was the sweetest human ever, even after a customer was not so kind to heMade sure I was good at all times and had such an inviting personality. I only had fries and a few drinks so I can't speak much about the food. But the employees sold the entire establishment for me. I can't wait to have my birthday open bar here because of how lovely my solo experience was when I stopped by ! read more

Great casual spot for dining in and excellent for delivery if you are nearby. Burgers are basic backyard style, and for my tastes, medium rare with American cheese is perfect. The tater tots are perfectly crisped! All sides are generously apportioned. read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon for a friend's birthday and was absolutely thrilled with the place. It's a little off from the main subways but not too far, and worth the walk, but it's a small front and can be easy to miss. Drink selection is pretty good for cocktails and beers, but their burgers looked to die for! I wish I had got one, but just gives me another reason to come back. There is both indoor and outdoor (covered and uncovered) seating avaliable, albeit not a ton. Staff was very friendly and accommodating for everyone. The place also does have a few TVs inside in case you want to try and catch a game while you're hanging out. read more

With its bright, airy space and hard to find craft beers on tap, Royale is one of the better pubs in the neighborhood. The menu is pretty simple: salads, sandwiches, and burgers...but the former two are besides the point. The burger is the star here: 8oz hand-formed smash burgers, seasoned well, and topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle slices. Add on cheese and...mmm, that is one tasty burger (though not "the best burger in NYC" as their website claims). Sides of fries, tater tots, onion rings, and more are offered, though the onion rings were greasier than expected read more

Absolutely incredible!! The server said they were known for the burger and it did not disappoint. The truffle fries are a must and you get great options with fun specialty cocktails. The staff was friendly and attentive. We played board games, watched the Georgia v Alabama game out on the patio, which was heated. 11/10 experience, we will definitely be returning. read more

Had three burgers, fries, and a hot dog, and all the food was excellent. We ate at the Peter Stuyvesant Little League field, but my understanding is that it's the same food as the restaurant. The burgers were quite juicy, perfectly cooked. read more

Best. Fried. Chicken. Sandwich. In. The. World. --add jalapeños --side of house made ranch Their onion rings are CRISPY CRUNCHY MUNCHY CRACKLY! Just how I like them. Not floppy or greasy. They are not cheap but worth it. We also need to talk about their in-house scratch made RANCH DRESSING. I went to college in Ohio and they slather bottled ranch dressing on everything. Hence, my true appreciation for Royale's flavorful, fresh, perfect consistency, herbaceous, zippy ranch!!!! So underrated. This place rocks. Order or go here few times a month. read more

Pretty good place! Got the original burgers to go. Forgot to include the sweet potato fries and our burgers were cooked medium rare although we asked for medium well done...but it was still delicious! Finished the burger and wanted more. Also had the arugula salad and the dressing paired really well with it. I saw the patio and outdoor seating. Very cute and cozy. Would come back here with friends to hang out and chill. read more

drinks were good and strong. the guys that worked there were extremely welcoming and nice by giving us advice on what to order. Tables were a bit sticky, but it's still a cool low lit bar that Id visit again. read more

What a cool spot on Ave C. Came here for lunch and enjoyed my time there. The place was decorated with all sort of fun Halloween decor without being over the top. I had the grilled chicken sandwich. The sandwich was really great with lots of avocado, nice amount of melty cheese and juicy marinated chicken. Only knock is I wished the breast was bigger! Would rec sharing the fries, for the potion and taste five bucks is a good deal. Selection of food is decent and they specialize in burgers of which I've also and are good. The space out back is quant and cozy. Royale is definitely a local neighborhood spot that teeters between a dive bar and your neighbor food spot. Would love to come back during the evening hours to see what more the place has to offer! read more

Girl/server with long black hair and tattoos was so rude, never coming back. I work in industry and would never act like that to a guest. Im never needy or even ask for service when I see a staff member occupied, but upon saying hello it was met with a strange side eye and a finger saying "you can wait" .. I said hello and this is first interaction, didn't 'bother' her more than once with a single sentence, left immediately read more

Considering Royale's backyard is adjacent to mine, it is a bit of a wonder that it's taken so long to eat over here. The menu is obviously Pulp Fiction inspired, and although the food isn't remarkable, it is certainly good enough to make it all worthwhile. I ordered the Royale with cheese, which is not a sizeable burger, but it is on par with my expectations. What is extremely nice about Royale is the backyard. Fantastic spot to hang out; for a date, or with friends, or whatever. read more

My brother rented out this space yesterday to celebrate his birthday. We rented the space (EXPENSIVE BTW) from 4-7 and the runner was so nice and helpful constantly serving our tables food and drinks. At 7pm when our party was finished a heavily pierced and tattooed woman with black hair (who had just gotten there) approached the birthday boy and aggressively demanded a tip. She had not helped or served us once, everyone who helped us was tipped. She literally threw a tantrum and went berserk telling us "get out the f*** out of her bar" and trying to intimidate. Unacceptable behavior of a staff member especially considering the money we spent here. Disgusting way to treat paying customers. read more

It may not look like much, but trust me, it was good. It's a pub. It's a hole in the wall. Nothing glamorous. Frankly, I don't visit many hole in the wall spots and was in the area catching up with errands but also, didn't want to drive away from Alphabet City. In comes Royale with a Veggie Burger in their menu and a decent cocktail list. Dual entrances and then it opens to a mid 20s to early 30s crowd. For a slight second, we had this freaking, dazed and confused look in our faces. Not even 20 seconds later, I was like, f%ck it- and went in. No frills design- really. Plain square dark wood tables with neon green panel "cowboy doors". Started with Caipirinhas and The Man's, was Basic- while mine, had the "wow" Mango factor. Menu pleased almost every palate with nice selections of Salads, Sandwiches and Appetizers and obviously, Burgers- which are already hooked up with the classic, lettuce and tomatoes (and can choose 'Toppings' from their add-on list). I didn't expect for my Veggie Burger on a Brioche Bun to be good- and it was. Went with Sautéed Mushrooms (that were fresh and not canned) and Gruyère Cheese that made the whole combination, a masterpiece with no complaints from The Man's Burger. Truffle Fries, tasted real good and earthy with the Truffle Oil. Drinks were very good with natural ingredients and powerful- but the downer was, too much ice. Music was a real a nice treat with a mix of old-school R & B (Boys To Men, Jodeci) and Indie Pop. Except, the music was way too loud for Royale's small space and was screaming at the servers while ordering. The girls were very nice throughout the evening. We did shots before heading out, and one of our servers even said it was "cool"- but was that her translation, to say that we were brave for being around their young crowd? It's all good- and was all in jest. At first sight, Royale is upbeat, but I just looked at Royale's surface and not knowing how good it was going to be inside. The humblest spots, are usually, the perfect experiences and made the best, of our Saturday night mingling. Buenas Noches. read more

We're new to this neighborhood and stopped in to fill out a rental application. We got the place and came back to celebrate. Staff was awesome each time, taking time to write directions to the subway and generally wish us well. Both visits with different staff proved delightful. The burgers were awesome and so was the beer. Glad to have this place in my own neighborhood. Outdoor back garden was a serene escape to del with filling rental application and coming the follow days to celebrate. read more

Came here for a lunch special that appeared to be promoted by Jack Daniels (not someone named Jack, but the whiskey) the lunch was a southern/barbacue sorta spread with cornbread, cucumber salad, watermelon, sliders and of course ribs as well as some other eats. All the food was pretty good, maybe not as of your family put it all together but definitely satisfying as if you went to bbq. The food was buffet style with all you can eat which made it a heck of a deal and not bad tasting at all. The sliders, pretty standard bar burger, the all the sides I mentioned again were all fine but the ribs hit the spot, just enough sauce and good smoked flavor. The highlight for me however was the Mac & cheese. It was exactly how mac and cheese should be. Hot and cheesy, emphasis on the cheese. The featured whiskeys were ok, one was cherry inspired and the other watermelon which were ok, not a big fan but it came with the meal and can easily say that the deal was awesome. If they have anything like this and you like food, I'd say go for it. It puts it a step up from your usual burger bars. read more

Amazing burger but outstanding service from Stef and Gerardo! They made us feel welcome & put up with all my silly questions about the menu and continued to keep a very upbeat attitude and positive vibe. I cannot say enough about these two and this great establishment. I recommend anyone to have a party here! read more

Decent happy hour with $4 beers and half-off well drinks. If you grab a canned beer/cider from the selected menu, you can add-on a shot for $4. Their regular menu prices are pretty good for the city, where you can get flavored frozen margs & mojitos for only $12. A couple of people from my party ordered food, and the wings and dip looked delicious! There is also a cute backyard decorated with string lights and a bit of greenery! The owner was came over to our table and was super nice! On the other hand, one of the waiters waved us off when we asked to order more drinks. They also forgot a couple of our food orders and had to ask for our order a couple of times. We were a pretty big group (for COVID times), but there was no need for the rude comment. TLDR: cute backyard, decent price drinks, good vibes. read more

We came here for a birthday dinner on a weeknight, about 6 of us, and would recommend a reservation, but it's not required. The food is definitely pub fare, everyone ordered the burgers, one kale salad. The kale salad looked really sad, definitely stick to the burgers. I got the veggie burger and it was pretty good! Nothing particularly bad about it, your basic run of the mill burger, the bun was a brioche, and typical lettuce, tomato and onion. The waitress was incredibly hard to get attention, and I didn't get the first drink until about 30 minutes after sitting down. I think they are just understaffed she didn't seem lazy or anything. The fries were good, we ordered both normal and truffle, but the truffle fries were basically normal fries with some dust of truffle salt. The outdoor patio out back is pretty nice! But it's enclosed in buildings so no major view. read more

Royale hosted such a special night for us! We put together an engagement party last minute for 25 friends and couldn't have imagined a better location and experience. The set up on the back patio was exactly what we had hoped for. It was perfectly set up for a party of our size and had a great ambiance, especially on a warm spring night. The staff was also amazing!! They were so welcoming and made sure that everyone always had a drink in their hand. Thank you for having us and making our celebration one we will always remember! I co-hosted a party here in the back courtyard area. The staff was very accommodating with allowing guests to open their own tabs and service was pretty good considering the size of our party. The burgers and appetizers we ordered came out quickly and were pretty good. They were a little pricey for not being served with fries (must order separately) which is definitely one of my pet peeves with burgers because you need fries with burgers! The only other thing I didn't like was that there was only 1 bathroom (for females) and the place allows for a crowd in the back outdoor area, so there was quite a line! read more

Is it THE best burger in NYC? Hard to say because I still prefer Shake Shack. I know I know, how tacky. But I feel the burger at the shack is juicier. This is not to say Royale burger is bad, in fact I feel its probably one of the top five joints in the city. Seating area in the back is small so prepare to wait if you have a large group. Great spot to meet friends for a drink! I called ahead to ask if I needed a reservation, but they said I shouldn't have any issues. My friends were all caught in bad traffic (no thanks to the rain!), so they all arrived at different times. I highly appreciate how mellow they were about that, and we moved from the high tops by the bar to the back garden area because we felt a bit cramped.
