First things first, if you're a college student or a young adult between the ages of 20-25, then you might like this spot. If not, I don't recommend it. I'll explain... We were exploring the East Village in the evening and decided to try Bua, a local bar. A bouncer asked for IDs and we walked into a tight, dark space. There's bar seating and a few bigger tables to the left, but it's very small. You're constantly bumping into people. Not exactly dance friendly. Luckily we were able to snag some seats at the bar. I had to use my iPhone's flashlight to see the menu because that's how dark it is. In addition to drinks, they also have a not-so-impressive food menu. The food choices reminded me of high school cafeteria food (burgers, chicken strips, fries, nachos). The drinks were disappointing, to put it mildly. We ordered: *Tito's Sparkling Lemonade ($14) - Did I just drink water?... LOL. There was no alcohol, no lemonade, nothing sparkling about this. *Friend of a Friend cocktail ($14) - Yuck... it tasted like a cherry cough drop or Nyquil. The description said it contains dark rum, fernet branca, housemade blueberry syrup, lemon, and peychaud bitters. There was nothing good about it. I don't drink beer but my +1 ordered a few and said they were good. The crowd consisted mainly of college kids. I wasn't too big on most of the music choices, especially for a bar atmosphere. I understand that everyone has different music tastes, but ehhh. Big turn off for me. Music plays a big role in setting the mood and atmosphere. Honestly, I only enjoyed this spot because of the person I was with haha. We made the most of the tiny space we had and still danced. Objectively, it's just a small bar with very mediocre drinks.

Should have checked on my own review and not ordering the Fried Pickle again, it was thick batter, under-fried, and untasty. Great neighborhood wine bar with great pricing, cozy semi outdoor place. Fries was really good!

3.5 Cool bar. Kinda crowded/tight seating. Good for big groups. Food, just ok. Fries-delish. Creative and tasty cocktails. Servers were attentive.

Great spot for cocktails and a good burger! Try the pickle martini. Low lighting with candles and brick walls create a cozy, romantic but casual environment. Great service too!

Drinks are very good. Table service stopped around 12 and that was disappointing. Fried pickles were good!

We came here for happy hour on a Thursday. We came in at around 530 and it was hardly close to full at the bar. The happy hour drinks are a good price for how nice they taste. I got the 98th and Rockaway and the agave Fresca. The 98th and rockaway stole the show in my opinion. Perfectly refreshing without being too sweet. Overall $20 for 2 great cocktails is a steal!

Good drinks and solid food. The chicken tenders were definitely better than the taco, but either way you're coming here for the drinks and vibe. Good spot!

A solid spot with a kitchen open late and pretty good prices. The seating area is a bit disorganized, with parties having to pounce on the first open table they see, watching hawk-eyed for any hint of another table prepping to leave. We finally grabbed a table and ordered a sour beer, a chicken sandwich, and the pickle cocktail. The sour beer was pretty flat and tasted like a sour juice. Not bad but pretty sugary. I love trying new beers and sours but this wasn't one I'd get again. The chicken sandwich was delicious but had almost zero actual chicken in it. Looking at other photos of the chicken sandwich, it seems like it has the proper ratio (so maybe we went on an off day) but we had one super thin fried chicken in the whole sandwich. (If you look at the photo, it's all Cole slaw and then a tiny sliver of chicken underneath). The slaw is super tasty though! And the bread is legit perfectly buttered and toasted. The pickle cocktail was good! A nice pickle flavor with a kick. We ordered the one with vodka (you can choose between vodka and gin-- Vodka is what the bartender recommended) and it went great with the sandwich. Would return! I'd be interested in seeing if the chicken sandwich is more chicken-y on another day

Vibes here were great! Crowded and took us a minute to snag a table but our waitress was super attentive and on it. The yummmiest espresso martini: mocha joe!.My boyfriend had the spicy chicken sandwich and I had a gruyère grilled cheese! We only stayed for a bit but it was 10/10

We had the sliders, mozz sticks & fried pickles and were happy with all of them and the prices. Drinks were also good. This place is very small, with maybe 3 tables, a small couch seating area, and seats around the bar. To snag a happy hour table, getting there before 5 is preferable. It ended up being a nice spot for a casual catch-up, though with a few mixed impressions. The space itself is cute and very much feels like a neighborhood bar. One of the things we liked most was that they have games available--we ended up playing Scrabble while waiting for our friend to arrive, which made the time go by quickly and added to the relaxed vibe. Happy hour prices are solid, and the fried pickles we shared were decent. I also had a watermelon cocktail that was refreshing and perfectly fine, if not particularly memorable. Service was a bit inconsistent. The bartender wasn't very warm or welcoming to us initially, though that changed once our friend--who is a regular--arrived. Overall, it's a comfortable spot to meet friends and hang out for a few hours, especially on a weekday like Thursday. That said, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to return, but I can see why it works well as a local neighborhood hang.

After a nice stop and a secret garden in west Greenwich, I decided to use the points I had racked up and suggested a beverage at the Spaniard. It was agreed upon, in part as i suggested "they probably have a nice bathroom". Of which they did. It helped they had a nice house drink menu too. My gal found something she would like, and she did. After a fun drink off their menu I got a scotch. Old Putney 12 year. Actually the bartender came up and said they were out, would I want a 18 year or 20 year, something like that. it was a bit more money but it was he last beverage of the weekend trip so I got it. My Lourd it was good. If we had time I would have gotten an Oban they had, but we were off. But we will be back, maybe this year. And if I have racked up enough points in the area, I will suggest this excellent whisky bar.

GUZZLE This is the restaurant component with more casual drinks and creative dishes. For two people, they recommend about 6 dishes. I was so sad that the Tavern Burger already sold but I guess it means I have to come back! -Started off with the tasty volcano roll. Combing spicy tuna, coconut sticky rice, and candied, crunchy seaweed roll, it had a nice textural contrast amongst the spice, umami, and sweet flavor profiles. -The pork yaki featured super tender and well seasoned meat skewer with a candied outer layer in addition to the fun cotton candy! -The mochi french fry was FIRE! Its chewy and crunchy at the same time and be sure to pair it with the addicting gochujang-based sauce that is garlic-y and honey-y with a nice spice kick. -The bikini was perf for cheese lovers like me and especially if you like jamon and truffle to make it even more umami. Just make sure you get a good well-balanced bite! -The electric chicken was juicy, tender, crunchy, crispy, and well seasoned! Its less spicy and salty compared to that of Pecking House but still delicious! Plus you get to cut it with fun scissors! -The cabbage was good with a creamy, tangy white sesame sauce, but can skip next time -The chicken chips and salsa was interesting with their chicharron-inspired chicken chips. The salsa had 3 layers of mango, avocado, and jalapeño with a salted foam. -The Hokkaido milk soft serve was super smooth and milky - exactly how I envisioned what I want my milk ice cream to taste like! -Drinks: The lychee martini was amazing for people who like floral/sweet drinks. The wagyu old fashion was very peanut- and whiskey-forward. I find myself too guilty to drink the soup after hotpot or ramen because its often too greasy. Fear not because this clarified drink packages similar flavors into an easily enjoyable alcoholic drink!! Its umami and spicy with just the right amount of peppercorn oil. The strawberry is just present enough to balance out the savoriness, and not too fruity nor sweet at all! Its also cutely served at tableside with a big teapot. -Satsuma Creamsicle: A multilayer drink that was so fun to drink because each sip at a specific angle allows you get a little bit of the tangy and creamy foam, as well as the sweet and cream soda-like drink. -Plantain Colada: A banana/plantain prominent drink with some coconut vibes and bites. -Negroni in the Shade: A refreshing drink with just the right amount of grape flavors. Drinking out of the bowl while eating the tea leaf salad from a miniature bowl/spoon was also fun! Overall staff were very nice and attentive.
