I absolutely recommend Half Pint as a bar, perhaps voting yes with an asterisk for the restaurant side of things. At $18 for three barbacoa tacos, I realize you're paying for the real estate, but this brings up my "uh I'd rather go to Jackson Heights" side which I realize resembles "no one listens to the Strokes anymore" rhetoric. The $10 fries were decent but Half Pint might benefit from some smaller/cheaper options. But I was wowed by the charcuterie chips. Since I'm not culturally aware I thought Half Pint invented this wild hybrid but it turns out it's a viral thing. How do you do, fellow bar snack Tik-Tokkers? To quote Kirk Hammett in Some Kind of Monster, the appearance of hot honey "dates it to this period," but it's an intriguing melange of the sacred and the profane. Burrata shows up as a cultural signifier but there's a fine cameo from an unexpected and classical element, that being grapes. Downeast is available on tap. The service is friendly and the setting is mellow, not overrun with the NYU or tourist crowds, or for lack of a better word yuppies. read more

I stumbled upon The Half Pint looking for another bathroom in the city. I ordered an espresso martini and it was perfect and a good price for happy hour. Bathroom was clean and had a fun wallpaper to pay tribute to the history of the restaurant. It has a rich history of mobsters, prohibition, Ernie's 3 ring circus, and bartender said it's haunted. I went back with a date interested in the trivia. We sat outside which was not conducive for hearing the game. Probably would go back for the trivia and drinks. My Barbacoa tacos were not very good. They were mid at best. He ordered a charcuterie chips which actually were a nice elevated bar food. I liked the grapes which added a nice sweet freshness with the salty chips. The service was ok. They use handhelds which are efficient. The server must have been cut, but didn't not say goodbye or let us know she was done a new server took over. I had to ask if the other was done. The decor inside was much more high brow than the menu offers. So overall a mixed bag or half-full pint! read more

While looking for a good happy hour spot online, I stumbled upon this place and was enticed by their $5 espresso martini & aperol spritz deal. $5 is almost unheard of in the city, so had to check it out. The espresso martinis were delicious and the aperol spritz were a little inconsistent with the taste (had two rounds), but both were good! Since I went on a Wednesday, they promoted a $5 fish tacos deal as well so decided to give the tacos a try. The tacos were delicious, I could see myself craving them in the future lol One random thing to note--this place is very dog friendly. Originally asked to sit outside, assuming this was the only place where I could sit with my pup. Since no outside tables were available, the host said it would be alright to bring my pup in. We ended up sitting there until a table outside was available. Moving tables was not much of a hassle. Service was super accommodating which I appreciated. Definitely would return for happy hour and possibly trivia night! read more

I truly enjoy " The Half Pint " aka Ernie's Bar. It's a cozy atmosphere and good for simple bites with friends or Date nights. The customer service is always hospitable and accommodating. I enjoy their Birria tacos, wings, salads, and so much more . This is my designated bar each time I'm in the West Village area . I also love that their happy starts in the early afternoon because I sure will bring a laptop and order some wings and a glass of Rose . This is a cool environment and a cozy and cool bar to hang out . We had a nice lunch, the service was great and the food came out really quick. I would say that the bread was very hard, someone that has dentures couldn't bite in to it! I would recommend a softer bread, the spread and add ons were delicious. The fríes nice and crunchy and my coworker was able to substitute for salad. You can expect a generally young crowd yelling over the music, which always feels a touch too loud for my old ears. I have been coming to Half Pint for years. The servers are very nice, and the place is very welcoming. They took away taco Tuesday's and lunch specials during the week. :( Times are tight in the city! It was a great deal and was a huge incentive to come here. They now have happy hour food specials after 4pm during the week. Way too late for people who want a quick lunch. Please rethink your menu specials! Went here for a Bravo show premiere night event. It was only on the Ernie's side but there is only a curtain dividing the bars so you could hear the music from Half Pint and it was tricky to hear the TV. The circus theme is kind of odd at Ernie's. We had yummy pretzels and cheese, chicken tenders and sliders. Service was great our waitress was attentive and super friendly. read more

For basic pub food, the food here is exceptional. We ordered the wings, big boy burger, and avocado toast off their brunch menu. The service however is non-existent and some of the worst, if not the worst, I've seen. The place seems disorganized as we had 3 different waitresses take our food/drink orders with neither of them coming back to the table after we placed our orders. I expected them to check on us after the food was delivered and to ask if we needed anything else, but nobody ever came back. I really wanted a beer and couldn't find a waitress to save my life. This bar is always packed to The brim, they have a huge outdoor area, with covered seating and sidewalk seating. A couple of the servers are great but I have to take a star off because a few of the staff ignore you, and have a bit of a Tude when you Try to flag them down. Love the nachos, tenders and pint sized margarita. It's a dive bar type place but so much fun and a good time! read more

The half pint has been my favorite bar in the Greenwich Village area for a while now. They have their own beers, amber, wheat and light, the last of which is amazing, what every Coors Light or Miller Lite should aspire toward. Had brunch here recently. Food was mid. Had the breakfast sliders and honestly, I've had better Jimmy Dean microwaveable sandwiches. I also had a side of bacon which was overcooked. My friend had the steak and eggs and said that was just okay as well. The best thing on the table was the mimosa tower. Margaritas were pretty good too. Service was cool. That was to be expected so we weren't too upset about it even though we were exhausted. Once seated, we all ordered an array of different things. I sampled the calamari which was light and tasty. I ordered the poutine (house cut fries, Wisconsin white cheddar curds, and short rib gravy) with a Wölffer No. 139 Dry Rose Cider. Both were delicious after a long morning and afternoon in the hot June sun. I've enjoyed lighter poutine in Canada as well as crab poutine from Angry Archie's but, this was also tasty. The chunks of short rib were tender enough however, the gravy was a bit overpowering and I would have enjoyed a bit more cheese. Overall, if you want some junk food and beer, it's definitely a great place. The Mac and cheese with pulled pork was amazing and the fried chicken sandwich was very good. Came here on Halloween night with a group of friends. Understood that it was going to be busy, and service may be subpar due to that - that wasn't an issue we just wanted somewhere to hang out after watching the parade. However, our experience was kind of ridiculous. Were seated immediately which was nice. That was the only good part of the night. We ordered a round of drinks and food - drinks came out at a decent time (but we had to substitute as they were out of most of the winter cocktails which wasn't a big deal, but would've been nice to know ahead of time) and we waited an hour+ for 4 cold appetizers and 2 inedible entrees. Half of us ordered a second round and that came out before our food. Three tables that were seated after us got their food before us. When we asked the server why we hadn't gotten any food she responded that the entire order was coming out together. Who brings out apps after entrees, especially when folks are drinking? Asked if we could get the food that was already done being made (as fries shouldn't take an hour+) and she said that would confuse the kitchen more - obviously not as our stuff was sitting for a while since it came out cold. Two of my friends ordered the chicken sandwich and one of them had undercooked sections while the other one was made with CHICKEN TENDERS - one completely burnt, the other raw. If they were out of chicken breasts, they could've said instead of making a half-ass substitution. Both of the sandwiches came out cold, the croquettes and cauliflower wings were cold (and substitutions were not followed as my friend asked if it was possible for buffalo sauce to be on the wings instead of sesame and the server said yes), the fries were the only thing warm-ish. After letting our server know we were disappointed, we were able to get a round of drinks and one of the sandwiches off the bill which was nice, but not without getting a bit of attitude from the server. We understood that it wasn't her fault and told her so when we complained initially, but if you know the kitchen is slammed when a table sits down - at least give them a heads up. I suppose this is a cool place to grab a beer with a friend. I'm not sure where the reputation for it being a good brunch spot came from. It's certainly not from the food, which was unremarkable in every way. The seating was uncomfortable and awkward. We were a group of five seated at a high-top table with high stools to have brunch. There was no place to really put our bags so some of us had to eat with our bags in our laps. I eventually dragged a stool from an empty table to pile our stuff on. I guess the appeal here is the bottomless drinks option and the location near NYU. I'll end this on a slightly positive note. I did enjoy the beer sampler I split with a friend. Otherwise, it's unlikely that I will be returning or agree to come on someone's invitation. read more

We came in to grab food about 9 PM on a Saturday when we realized we were starving after running around NYC sight seeing and drinking for a few hours. It was pretty loud but the music was great. College bar vibe. I had the raclette burger, which was pricey but the burger was so juicy and good. The melted raclette cheese was excessive in portion which made me happy. The bun was that soft buttery toasted on the inside that hold meat perfectly. They also have a decent craft beer list and they made a great mint julep. read more
