4.5 stars. This Nepalese-owned café finally opened in September after what felt like a very long three-year wait. I think a lot of people were starting to wonder if it was ever going to happen. Most of the offerings here leans toward Italian/French/American, and I didn't really notice much Nepalese or Asian influence aside from the matcha latte.
We tried the banana bread ($3.50), pinole cookies ($2.25), and macarons ($1.50 each). The macarons and pinoles were on the smaller side, which I didn't mind. There were about five macaron flavors and we tried one of each--pistachio and crème brûlée were my favorites. The pinole cookies were crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and topped with toasted pine nuts. I really enjoyed these and wished I'd gotten more. The Banana Bread, while not a standout, was nice and moist with great banana flavor.
We also got a Matcha Latte with Hazelnut syrup ($5.50). It was so good. Creamy, nutty, and just a little sweet. It was my first time having a sweetened matcha latte and I'm officially converted. Also, at $5.50 for a large drink, it felt very reasonable.
Big shoutout to the staff--they were super kind and apologetic about the wait for our drink and even gave us three complimentary (small) slices of chocolate cake. What amazing customer service! We basically inhaled the cakes while waiting, so no photo evidence.
Definitely worth checking out if you're in the neighborhood. read more
