In a random turn of events I ended up being the one to take Nana for her appointment at Fancy Nail Salon. I decided to give it a try. Thank God I did!!!! I've gone there two times now and have been impressed with both technicians. They are so clean and neat. They are as meticulous as I am when doing my own nails. They have the most powder gel colors I've seen at a salon. Anddddd....they do ombré. FLAWLESS ombré that is!! I searched high and low for someone to do my nails for my wedding and couldn't find anywhere. If I only looked closer to home. My Disney nails were a huge hit! Perfect for all those influencer pictures! I will be returning without a doubt.

The nail tech was nice and I got tips but she didn't cut my cuticles. When I asked why she said you have to pay extra? I originally was going to get just a gel mani and then upgraded to tips. I asked the owner or person in charge and she said she can do it for you this time and another tech chimed in with an attitude and said you changed the service. The answers didn't make sense. Anywhere I have ever went cuticle care is part of the mani. I could have went back and forth with them about cuticle care but it wasn't worth the energy. They should make it clear with a sign that you would have to pay extra. It's not the cost either. It's the principle.

I have…read morebeen coming to Blue Lotus since they opened at their old location sometime around 2010, and since I don't live in Shelton any more, it's only a few times a year. Now, on to the the tea party. A super busy salon and spa, but they have their process down to a science. This is by far the most pampering nail salon I have ever experienced anywhere, especially the spa pedicure! The experience in the chair is fairly standard, but with the addition of special scrubs and creams depending on the spa treatment selection. Then you're escorted into a darkened room, made comfy in a recliner and covered with a warm fuzzy blanket and treated to 10 minutes of pure HEAVEN while a massage tech makes your feet and legs feel amazing. Dipping your feet in hot paraffin is also part of this experience. I can't recommend this enough! There are employees who's main function is to provide shoulder massages to clients, and they give an actual massage, not just a little rub-rub on the shoulders and some fist pounding on the upper back for 60 seconds from the same technician who just painted your nails. Although there are signs on the tables to request, you need to press the button to request a massage, both at the manicure table and at the drying table. As I mentioned, they are very busy and sometimes won't see the turned sign, but the will be pinged when the button is pressed. Just be sure to tip the massage tech separately, and I promise it's worth it! The staff is always friendly and accommodating, offering water, green tea or a glass of wine.

They have multiple people servicing you for one service. Pedicure then the massage included in your pedicure price is done by a different person so you are expected to tip them both. If you have gel polish or add an additional service they expect that amount to be paid in cash although they have your card on file. I'm big on tipping so tipping multiple people was no big deal but not everyone has Venmo or carries cash. A place that forces the tip is a no for me. Won't be back

Ping and Michael are personable and mindful of quality. The salon was very clean and a pleasant environment - spa like. I think that's notable as most of the salons in the area do not meet this criteria. The pricing and options were also very clearly indicated. Pedicure was pretty and standard in price. Ever since the first time I went, Ping and Michael have remembered me by name! I always get a specialty pedicure (usually the Green Tea) because of bad calluses (I know-TMI) and they do an amazing job. Usually Michael does my pedicure but everyone there is great. One of my biggest pet peeves is people talking on their cell phones while getting my pedi. Since they have a loyal client base, this rarely happens and, for me, it makes all the difference! Thanks Ping, Michael, & everyone else there!
