The Royal Bavaria is very traditional in setting and reminds us very much of restaurants we visited while in Germany. The place has a great ambiance and is very comfortable. The staff was courteous, attentive and pleasant. We did experience a few issues with the food. Some parts of the meal were very good but other parts were not. We started off with a sausage sampler and it was great. It was cooked well, the sauerkraut was the perfect accompaniment and the mustard had just the right level of spice. The salad with the traditional dressing was very good. Crisp, fresh, colorful and flavorful. However, the main courses were a big let down. I had the cordon bleu and it was not very good! It was dry, had too much breading, I could not taste even a hint of ham or swiss cheese and it was overcooked to the point of being rubbery. It was basically a large roll of pork that been overcooked. It was served with a cranberry sauce which was very good but I need more of it to flavor and to add moisture to the pork roll. My spouse had the rinderroulade. The beef was tender and it did have some flavor but once again it was overcooked and it was difficult to discern any taste of pickle or mustard in the roll. The mashed potatoes served with beef roll were good but they were cold and the gravy was over salted. I believe the issue with both the cordon bleu and the rinderroulade is that they are too big and that taste and depth of flavors within the dishes are being lost because of the cooking time required to ensure the rolls are throughly cooked. It appears to be a toss up between size over flavor and flavor lost. This is not our first trip to Royal Bavaria and we we will go back but will definitely not order either of these dishes. read more

My brother recently spent some time in Germany, and he talked a lot about the food he had there. Ever since then, I have been wanting to try some of the dishes he spoke about. A friend of mine, who grew up in Germany, recommended Royal Bavaria as the place to try for good German food, and she mentioned the Thursday night buffet would be a good way to try several things. So I finally made it to this restaurant that I have passed so many times on my way to Norman. I love the way the outside looks...it leaves an impression as a place where you can go to have a unique dining experience. The inside has a casual atmosphere with lots of space for parties of any size. The friendly waitstaff are dressed in traditional German attire, which adds to the fun. As for the buffet, it was smaller than what I had anticipated, but there were still a lot of choices. I really enjoyed most everything; my particular favorites were the pork schnitzel, pork cordon bleu, mashed potatoes, and delicious gravy. I believe most of the items on the buffet are standard each week, with a couple of special entrees that rotate. Wanting to try pretty much everything left us completely stuffed as we left the restaurant. One area of improvement would be the desserts. All the desserts on the buffet appeared to be manufactured, rather than made in house. I know they have house made, authentic desserts, so I would suggest having a couple of those out instead of the store bought cheesecake squares. All in all, a fun and delicious experience! read more

Zack made our night! We had such a blast at Royal Bavaria and a big part of that was our awesome server, Zack! This guy was super friendly from the get-go and made us feel totally comfortable. He knew the menu like the back of his hand and gave us some killer recommendations (that schnitzel was to die for!). Not only was the food amazing, but Zack just made the whole experience better. He was always there when we needed something, like more drinks or extra napkins, but never in an annoying way. Plus, he was super easy to chat with and actually seemed interested in talking to us! Also the atmosphere was amazing! We sat outside and enjoyed a live band. He played some amazing music! Honestly, Zack was the best, and he's a big reason why we'll definitely be back to Royal Bavaria for him - you won't regret it! Stopped in to try the Royal Bavaria restaurant in Moore, Ok. Oh my, it was definitely a treat and excellent meal. We had the Weinschnitzel with German Potato Salad, German Potato Soup, and a Cream Strudel. Everything was delicious! We sat by some charming ladies who happened to eat there regularly. One was a retired German Teacher who has family in Germany and travels there on a frequent basis. That says quite a bit about the quality of the restaurant. 5 stars also goes to our wonderful waitress, Jaden. She was cheerful, pleasant, and efficient. Definitely a sweetheart. First time ever going here after several people recommended. We went in and saw several open tables, but still were told it would be a 5-10 min wait. I'm not sure why. It did seem like there were only a few servers, so that could be it. Our server, Jaden was wonderful! She was very pleasant and attentive! We ordered Brussel sprouts side as an appetizer and the bread basket. My husband and I literally fought over both! Brussel sprouts were perfectly seasoned and broiled or boiled; not sure. Bread basket was amazing. Husband got a skillet meat sampler with beef, pork, green beans, and fries. It was a ton of food and we ate it all! I ate all of his green beans and they were addicting! The seasoned pork was perfectly moist and flavorful. I had the breaded pork filet with mushroom gravy and mashed potatoes. It was good, but for some reason, my husband's food was better. First things first. For Thursday buffet night, I HIGHLY recommend making a reservation! I assume it would be the same advice for other nights they are open. We walked in, party of 4. We did not have a reservation and waited 30-45 minutes. We sat down at a table set for 6. That was a bonus since my kids seem to think elbows out when they eat. We went over to the buffet to fill up our plates. In the hot buffet area it was a little crowded, but it work out ok. The hot food was ok. Not bad, just ok. The bread was hard. I wish the desserts were not speaking authentic German to me. The restaurant was decorated so well, inside and outside. The music was great. I kept telling my husband that I felt like I was at the Biergarten in EPCOT. I guess that means I am missing Disney. I sometimes wish Yelp had half stars, they were 3.5 stars in my book. Delightful! We visited tonight and had a wonderful experience. We split the salmon pancake appetizer and it was very good. The husband and I both ordered spatzle for our entree and it was filling and delicious. Comfort food! The noodles were made from scratch. We finished with the bread pudding topped with blueberry compote and it was terrific. The service was exceptional. Very friendly and an A+ for mask wearing. The owner visited after our meal to make sure we were pleased. And we were very pleased. We will certainly be back and highly recommend Royal Bavaria to others. read more

Weird and unwelcoming experience? Been a few years since I've been. Host warned me upon walking in at 7:36 on a Sunday that their kitchen closed in 45 minutes? Knowing they closed at 9:00 before I arrived, I assured the host it wouldn't take me 45 minutes to order so I'd still like a table... A nice waitress greeted us, but we elected to move outside. She was kind enough to still wait on us. Meanwhile the waitress working the beer garden was *literally* just standing there with her arms folded and mean mugging/staring down the only other family/table outside. It caught our attention and was very awkward but somewhat comical to watch. Flash forward to 8:34, we had just paid our tab and were finishing our beers, and they cut the music off on us 26 minutes before "close". Lol I guess don't come from 7-9, even though they don't even open til 5? Weird and unwelcoming experience all around. Jagerschnitzel and pretzel were good minus the random soap taste in the home potatoes? Bread pudding served cold. Strange. Just strange all around. So my best fren and I arrived at the restaurant at 6:30 for her sister's birthday dinner that is when we find out that the reservation is outside . It was like 90 degrees in the shade she is pregnant and I have and auto immune disease were the sun is a no go so we separate from the party and for a table in the inside. The hostess tells us yes that they have one on the inside and I ask is it by the bathroom she says no I say ok cool, she says we just have to clean it and asks us to go back out and wait so we do. We are sitted and our waitress Kierra comes and ask us what would we like to drink I order sweet tea. Since I am in a German restaurant and I don't drink beer I have to have one of there beers so I ask our waitress about the beers so I get the lightest one the sample summer wheat it was the most palatable beer I have ever had. For and appetizer we ordered the cheese curds they were delicious and so was the mustard dressing that came with it but the dill dressing not so much. We also ordered the Munich Bread Basket it came out piping hot that basket needs to have a warning on it my favorite was the pretzel stick I think with that butter not with that mustard that comes with it. For dinner my fren order the Diane and I ordered the salmon. So side salads come with your meal we didn't know this and they just give you dill dressing well that dill dressing was nasty so I had to send my back and just ask for a dry salad which I don't like to send my food back. However when I received my new one I put the mustard dressing on there from the cheese curds it was great another thing I've never had green beans in my . So my fren food comes and the waitress tells my fren that she brought her food out because she didn't want it to over cook and we are looking like where is my food and she is like your food will be out in like 2 mins.So about 2 minutes pass and 2 men come to our table and im like WTH and they are telling me why my salmon is being delayed even though it is on the same ticket. They are very apologetic and offer me a free dessert or something which is cool and say it will be about 2 more minutes. So I tell my fren to go ahead and eat because I do not want her food to get cold. So a couple minutes later and he brings out himself and sets it down un front of me and the presentation is beautiful you won't be able to tell by the picture but it was. I bite into it , it is super hot thick and flacky everytime i put my put in it breaks off in the perfect bite for me with the spinach on top. This is the thickest piece and best piece of salmon I have every had and my fren had never had salmon and she loved it once again she said mine was better than hers she said im just going to start ordering what you order. Excellent food. We've been wanting to go since we moved here. Friend invited us to their 30 year anniversary since opening. I LOVE THIS PLACE! Food was great. Best Pork Loin I've ever had. Mashed potatoes were like when I remember as a kid. Sausages were excellent. They had a small quartet band for the occasion. It was a celebration for sure. Loud, fun, celebratory. Owner was amazing. There's an extra chair at the end of all tables. That's there for him to sit and talk to everyone at our table when he makes his rounds. The service has gone significantly downhill here. Changes to menu items which have been staples for a long time with no notice to customers or staff. Their "pretzel crusted" cheese curds have been replaced with just any old normal cheese curd. There was no mention when we ordered it. The sauerkraut had no juniper or caraway in it which was something horribly disappointing. It set their menu apart from other German restaurants by adding traditional German flavors. I was sad it was gone. The service was incredibly slow yet the staff acted overwhelmingly busy. We complained to the manager about the aforementioned and he was really apologetic but I can't pretend it wasn't a massive disappointment. We will not be returning- it's not nice to pull wool over people's eyes only to apologize if they're keen enough to realize! They sat us outside in the heat and wind because we didn't have a reservation. My wife and mother went inside to use the restroom, and saw that most of the tables were open. It looks like a gausthaus. It has that feel when you walk in. It has the Bavarian costumes that I could do without. This wasn't a far drive from Moore, but it seemed to me to be in the middle of nowhere. A large building, of which a fair amount of that is dedicated to its own brewery. The parking lot is gravel/dirt and I wondered how parking was when it rains. We were seated quickly. The selections were many. The food was good. I had the schnitzel with mashed potatoes. The schnitzel was nicely breaded and fried, served with a large slice (rather than wedge) of lemon, which I squeezed all over the schnitzel for that tangy acid flavor. It was BOGO Wednesday, so the price was good as well. I just found the placed dated. You can decorate in the late 1800 Bavarian look without it feeling old and in need of cleaning. I was disappointed. Would I make an effort to return? If I were in Moore again and nothing else tickled my palate then maybe. read more
