Absolute trash food. Been coming here for a long time. The food used to be good, but they have a new cook and are making it different now. The quesadillas they take cheese and put it on the grill and then scrape it off. Just tastes like burnt cheese. Absolutely disgusting. Supermercados Morelos is really great place to buy all sorts of Hispanic and other everyday foods and more. They have an impressive variety of produce, herbs, spices, seasonings, and other ingredients. They also have a small bakery of sorts, a large meat area, candy/junk food aisle, and tons more! It's fun to look around and see things you recognize/like as well as discovering new things as well. But my favorite part of the store is the Cafeteria/Cantina by the check-out. They have so many delicious things to try. Many different types of meats, sauces and loss of toppings to add to their sandwiches, tacos, etc. I'm really glad that there are places like Supermercados Morelos in the Metro. read more

Walk in the grocery store, take a left, and you'll find yourself at a small, cafeteria-style counter where you can order various authentic Mexican dishes, from platos to tortas to amazing tacos! There's usually a line, but it moves rather quickly and the women fixing your food are extremely kind. I got three tacos, a side of beans, and a melon agua fresca for a whopping $8. They have some small tables where you can eat or you can get it to go. It's very clean and orderly and I just loved it! After eating I took a moment to walk around the store. Fairly standard Mexican grocery items. They do have a fresh meat counter and a bakery. They had party packs of conchitas for $3.25, so remember that next time you're looking for a treat to bring into the office if you're in the area. They also have bakery cases where you can buy single pastries. I got a yo-yo pastry for 75 cents and it's delicious! I loved my experience here today and plan to return. read more

We've driven past this market multiple times and always said we would go in. This past weekend my husband decided why not go inside and check it out. So we walked in and felt like we were no longer in Oklahoma and we loved it. There was an abundance of fruits and vegetables that looked great and fresh. There was other cultural related foods available. I've heard the meat section is good and they have really good chicken we did not purchase anything from the meat section but it did look fresh and clean. My family and I did get some cultural candies and snacks to try out I'm already planning my next trip back especially for taco Tuesdays. They had a hot bar food but we got there too late so we were unable to sample that food but from what we saw we liked and also plan to try that the next time we return. There was also a bakery section the big goods looked amazing. I highly recommend going into the store to check out what they offer. read more

So, I came here based on a yelp review. They recommended the plate, which I got and they said the carne asada was great but that the carnitas was the best. I did like the carne asada but the carnitas were dry from sitting in a hot pan for who knows how long. To honest I was overall disappointed but I still gave 4 stars because I came in expecting more due to the prior review. Also, they earn 4 stars for the tortillas, rice, and beans. Carne Asada...eh, average, I would say a 3. But if I had only had the carnitas I would have probably put a 1 Star. There is a point when you have to cut your losses and dump the hot plate. But they didn't, so I am throwing away about half my carnitas. Anyway, decent price for okay food. If it's the only meal you get in the area, go elsewhere, otherwise you will regret it. But if you have a couple days in the area, or live here, the tortillas, rice, and beans were good enough to give it a few tries and find what they do best, it's just not the carnitas. read more

It's been a day since I've eaten here and I'm still craving the tacos from this place. This seems to be the norm when I visit Supermercados Morelos. *insert hungry and salivating emoticon*. I had the 3 tacos & a drink combo for $5.99. I had one barbacoa & two pollo tacos. Honestly, I wish I would have gotten three barbacoa tacos because the meat was 'melt in your mouth' delicious. I asked for corn tortillas, but was given flour tortillas (I should have double checked when they were heating the tortillas on the burner) -- regardless, I just stole all of my partner's corn tortillas & was a very happy Lena. :) Okay, fine -- I didn't steal them, just traded! One of the only reasons I am sad to be moving from the area I currently reside is because of the short drive from this place. In the past, I also ordered a torta and was so happy with the huge portion size (ha!).Highly recommend this trying this place out ASAP. 5/5 stars without hesitation. read more

Please excuse my high school level spanish but I regret not paying attention more in class as it would've been helpful to converse with some of the employees here. I know its a Supermarket but I came for the FOOD! OK. So why has it taken me so long to check this place out? Thankfully, my sister randomly visits establishments that she thinks might be interesting as she drives around town. We bee-lined to the cafeteria type counter where you could order food! We asked for 3 tacos on flour tortillas. They soften the tortillas on the flat top before asking which meat you want. As mentioned, its cafeteria style so you kinda just point at the meat you want (there are no labels...) but I was able to make out Barbacoa, Carne Asada...uhh something with Pollo haha, again, probably should've paid more attention in high school. Once they fill the tortillas, you can add toppings (diced onion, tomato, cilantro, queso fresco, sour cream etc.) only weird thing is that the cart is kinda blocked off to where you can see the choices but just think your typical taco toppings. Then once they hand you your styrofoam container you can fill up on the salsa bar! They have other food options which you can see in the picture of the menu I took. The tacos were $1.89 each and were so filling! After we ate we walked around the store to see what groceries they had. They have a butcher counter in the back with lots of different types of meat, a fresh produce area, and a bakery! We just happened to be there when they wheel out a cart of hot right out of the oven pastries! amazing. If you haven't been, GO NOW! or tomorrow. This isn't the first Mexican market I've been to, but they are definitely the best in every aspect. If they were closer they would be the only one I would go to! The store is super clean! I didn't feel that they left the store at night un-swept or mopped, and I wouldn't hesitate to eat the produce right there (besides the fact that I would definitely pay for it first and people would probably think it weird for me to start eating a tomato in the middle of an aisle while looking at the meats). Speaking of which, we went specifically to pick up some meat for grilling - their selection was huge! There have names on pretty much everything in Spanish AND English, so you know exactly what you purchasing. It does help to know a little Spanish, but it's definitely not required here. To top it all off, their staff is especially friendly and helpful. When we went to check out, we got in line behind someone and the cashier started having an issue of some sort. I didn't really pay attention to what was going on (guilty of writing notes up on this review), but did notice that the cashier was trying to fix the issue and the guy on the other side offered to check us out. I really appreciated that he did that instead of taking the easy way out of his job by not saying anything to us! The only thing I didn't like is that there aren't any cart corrals outside. There were about 7 carts scattered around the lot, but if you park far enough away and push the closest cart in on your way into the store then you won't have too much to worry about. read more

Had a fantastic lunch at Supermercados Morelos on a Friday afternoon. This review is strictly about the restaurant, although the supermarket looks fantastic. It is large, well organized (Spanish and English signage) and very clean. Great butcher shop, I will definitely return to get some stuff for the grill. There was a line about 12 or so deep when we arrived at around 12:15. This was a good sign. Also, they move through the line very quickly, so if you see a line, don't get deterred. It's well worth the wait, and there is plenty of booth seating in the dining area. My buddies and I all went with the 2 meat combo. It's $7.99 and includes a drink. Note there is an upcharge of $1.49 if you go with carne asada, as I did. The meal is huge, they load the plate up with beans, rice, and 2 heaping spoonfuls of whatever meats you selected. In addition, you can add various roasted peppers. You get a package of either flour or corn tortillas, plus there is the requisite salsa bar at the end of the line. Here, they had traditional pico, red sauce, green sauce, etc. I went with the carne and carnitas. Like I said, it's a load of food. The carnitas was my favorite. It's got incredible pork flavor, and it's not overly seasoned. Just incredible, Mexican style pulled pork. It was excellent with the green sauce. The rice and beans are above average. The carne was aggressively seasoned, but not in a negative way. It was extremely tender and chopped into small pieces. There is a ton of stuff on the menus, and it never slowed down during the 45 minutes or so that we were there. It's incredible, they really know how to get you in and out, all the while continuing to make fresh and great tasting food. This joint is in my permanent rotation. read more

READ THE REVIEW IN ITS ENTIRETY! Let me start off by saying when it comes to authenticity, this place is the best! The food is phenomenal and chock full of flavor! The spices used on marinated meats is the stuff dreams are made of!!! So I'll break it down to what I like about it, and what I don't care for... Cleanliness: meh, could be better but it's not something that makes me walk out the door, there isn't exactly a rat standing by the front door singing cucaracha at every customer that walks through the door but the floors feel almost greasy and sticky beneath your feet as you pass through the food court side. Meat Staff: yes, I'm placing them in a completely different section as they are PHENOMENAL!!! Always friendly and helpful with your selection and smile until you are done, you aren't talking to some pretentious meat expert, but down to earth human being willing to talk to you about what you're looking for. Cashiers: Nope... these ladies need another job, point blank I've never felt so unwelcome as I walk in the front door, from the sneering that I get to the eye rolls to the general disregard for human life in customer service truly perplexes me... perhaps it's their youth that gives them their general "I don't give an F attitude ", regardless acknowledge people that talk to you, smile because you have a job and be thankful people are still coming to your establishment. Overall this store has a lot of problems that could break it which is what scares the bejeepers out of me as the food is phenomenal, I would encourage management to take a very solid interest in this store, and attempt to create a better work environment, perhaps these ladies are constantly harassed or berated every day and not allowed to have any reason to be happy at work, regardless the situation is teetering towards disaster which I don't want to see... I rated this way as the food is excellent but wow... your first impression of this store are these bitter distasteful young ladies that have little respect for people that are shopping and supporting their paycheck... with that being said... get beyond that first line of nonsense and the rest is pretty awesome! read more

As an experienced Elite Yelper, I should have taken a pic of my food to post, but IT WAS IN MY MOUTH! If you are craving Mexican, this is the place to go. It's just a little eatery inside a supermercado, but you can eat lunch then buy a few grocery items on your way out - I did! Most everything on the menu was $6.99 - 3 tacos, burrito, quesadilla, tamales, relleno, etc. and each comes with rice & beans plus a drink. All for $6.99! Meat choices include pork w/red or green sauce, ranchero beef, shredded chicken, etc. There are also tortas, menudo, and many other menu items to choose from. Once you order it's kinda like Subway - they ask you which type of tortilla (corn or flour), which meat, which veggies/toppings, etc. Just get the works, you won't be sorry! The rice was so-so but the beans were bomb! Order some to take home (when you order your meal cuz there will be a line later)! Everything is made fresh daily. There is also a refrigerated display of various sauces, pico de gallo, salsas, & guacamole packaged up to take & go (checkout for this with grocery cashier), as well as hot tamales (savory & sweet) that you can buy 1/2 dozen or dozen. Be sure to checkout the fresh produce section, the meat counter & the bakery - fabulous pastries/sweet breads! Go early at lunchtime (11 am) as many folks were there by noon ordering meals to takeout, but there are about 10-15 tables if you choose to eat there (although some are not being used for social distancing). A line at the food counter is common, but it moves quickly. Oh, and if you're a fan, grab some freshly made chicharrones back at the meat counter to take home for snacking! I can't wait to go back & experience something else on the menu @ Morelos! Today I had 3 tacos - pork, beef & chicken. The red pork was by far the most flavorful! Not spicy/hot, but spiced well. Next time, I'm going for green pork! And did I mention those beans? Everyone (employees & customers) were wearing masks except for those who were eating at tables, the store is super clean & organized and all of the employees we encountered (at the lunch counter, meat counter & grocery cashier) were extremely friendly. I'm just an inexperienced Gringo, and most of the time I'm eating something that I can't even pronounce, but it's always delicious. I LOVE this place! I have been visiting this place for the last 5 or so years and I keep finding new great things that make me come back! My first love their is their pastries! That was the first thing that we started buying, there is one that is my favorite, but it's so hard to get as they don't always have it. Last time I was able to find it was at 5pm one day, I'm never over there that late in the day though so I tend to miss out. It has cream, nuts and coconut in their delicious dough. Big tip for first timers is that ALL the cookies, no matter the color, design or look all taste the EXACT same! haha! My sister and I laugh about it. I told her how I saw some fellow gringos in the store and looked like their first time, I told her how I wanted to tell them that because we think it's hilarious! They also have a little restaurant inside that has fresh made mexican food. It's very cafeteria style, but it's delicious. I have only ate there once, but if you like authentic and are open minded to trying new things it's a great place to try. They have great fruit juices that aren't found in other stores. I LOVE pear juice, but it isn't something you can regularly find like the Mango and Guava that they would have in the mexican area of the supermarket. Here, they have it by the can for $0.69! I wish they would carry it in the larger containers like the other flavors they carry, but I'll take the can if that's all I can get. As I mentioned in my Zorba's post, I have been trying to make my own hummus. I also have been making my own black beans to use in dishes or by themselves throughout the week. I stopped there this week because I knew they would have a lot of bean options compared to Walmart and I would rather go there and do my online pickup order with Walmart then going in. I wasn't disappointed, they had a TON of black bean options in varying sizes and brands. They had chickpeas for me as well, not as many options, but glad to know I can get them there as well. In my black bean recipe, I need peppers as well, so I decided to check out the produce. Their peppers weren't very impressive so I did get those from Walmart instead BUT...as I was walking over they had a massive display of avocados...Oh My God, they were ginormous! They were those ones you see on TV, or in magazines, not what you normally see at regular grocery stores...AND they were ripe! I on the spot decided I needed to make guacamole for my Memorial Day party and bought 4! Now, they were $1.79 each which is a lot more then the $0.88 I usually pay at Walmart, but I am glad to do it any day of the week. It was probably AT LEAST 3x the size of the ones I normal buy and the quality was just so much better. I then went to find my other guac ingredients I needed and found their jalapenos were equally as impressive with their size! They also have fresh bunches of cilantro for $0.39 each! I will definitely be coming here even more often after this last trip with my avocado success! read more

I highly recommend most anything on the menu, especially most recently the quesadillas! They start with a huge flour tortilla, I always say 'the size of a car steering wheel' to give a close proportion, put it on the flat top to heat, take a huge handful or 2 of shredded white cheese, then then they ask which meat you want it filled with, I go for carne asada or barbacoa. They fill a small container with the meat, pile it on top of the cheese tortilla, then fold it over and toast it for a bit more to warm the meat and finish melting the cheese. Then, they take it to the toppings area and open it up and put in cream, onions, cilantro, tomato, queso fresco, lettuce, whatever you want. then they cut it in half to fit the plate. Its Huge! You can get it with a side of beans, rice and a drink about 8 bucks or by itself for a little over 6, which believe me, I always take half home because it really could fee 2 or more people. I have tried the Beef stew, amazing! If you are fan of Menudo, it's definitely a great place for it on the weekends. I have shopped here for a while, recently moved to MWC, and miss it enough to go back once a week for some tacos or a quesadilla. It stays pretty clean, and unlike some of the other reviews, the help is pretty good at what they do. Some struggle with English, but I struggle with Spanish, so same same. Produce and meat dept always good and fresh, bakery is outstanding, great selection of authentic Mexican candies, canned goods, and products, and they have a new juice bar and fruteria area as well. They all seem to work hard to keep customers coming back. Fresh tamales in several varieties by the dozen or half dozen. So good! read more

I think there is something really fishy and crazy 'bout the Yelp app because.... I was at the Supermercado in Moore last year and the app allowed me to check in at the Supermercado off NW 23rd. This occurred not once, but twice! So strange but so true! I only recently visited the location off 23rd to find that I wrote this review for the wrong place. But anyway... When I saw that this place finally opened I had to go and see what they offered. They are located in the same shopping plaza as Himalayas. First thing is first- They have a taqueria inside this market! Yay! Their menu consists of street tacos, huevos racheros for breakfast, gorditas, meat plates, etc etc... I got the gordita with carne asada and it was purdy tasty! It's basically a corn pita stuffed with meat and then your choice of toppings. I put cilantro, queso fresco and this green salsa in it. Felt the meat was old and tough, but liked the seasoning enough to come back and try more. The boo ordered two tacos and enjoyed the adobada over carne asada. The seating area was nice! Produce is pretty cheap. I came for the avocados because I know Mexican markets almost always sell them for less. Two ripe large avocados set me back 0.69!!!!! Deal!! Everything is really clean and you won't have any trouble walking through the aisles with a cart. Much much bigger than the 23rd street location. read more
