This hole in the wall was recommended by our campus tour guide. The restaurant is located in the back of the grocery store. The teen that works the counter is nice. The adults who own/work at the restaurant do not speak English. The service is a bit lacking and when we were done, we couldn't find anyone. We also had left over food but they didn't have lids that fit their containers. It was a bit frustrating. One male worker was trying to close the lid on my container and his hand slipped a bit and his finger went into my left overs. The food, however, was delicious so I'm torn as to whether or not I'd return there. The portions were generous. We didn't order the cream cheese garlic naan (we ordered regular garlic naan) and didn't realize they had this on their menu until we tasted it. We thought it was their unique naan. Who knew Stillwater had authentic Himalayan/ Nepalese food? Yes to their chicken momos, butter chicken, mango chicken, kormas, biryanis, and naan. A tad pricey but worth it for the cost benefit, for sure. Biryani portions are large. Everything is as flavorful as you want it to be. The spices and aromatics are *on fire*! One of my go to places when I don't feel like cooking at home but still want something warm, comforting, and delicious. read more

I finally tried Himalayan after hearing a lot about it. It was fine, but honestly a little underwhelming. I ordered the "Himalayan special" based on the waitress's recommendation, but it was just chicken tikka masala, and a pretty average one at that. I've had better in London and even from a food truck. The service was kind but pretty slow, and the bill came out to almost thirty dollars for just an entree and naan, no drink. It wasn't a bad meal, just not memorable. I don't regret going, but I probably will not go back. It did not quite live up to the hype. As for "ambiance", that's just American Idol on the tv and a few door dashers standing around looking at their phones. read more

Oh my goodness, the little restaurant inside of this grocery store is a hidden gym. But first, the grocery store. Pretty traditional south Asian/Middle Eastern grocery store that also sells a few African and I think even Chinese pantry items. Mostly sauces and grains, but there are frozen foods and fresh veggies too. There's also a sizable beverage selection. But my favorite is the restaurant inside. I've yet to find any good food in Stillwater until I came to this place. Service is a bit slow, but the food was high-quality and decently priced comparable to inflation. I also appreciated that the spice level was accurate. I hate ordering spicy food and it comes out mild or medium, but I also hate when it's so spicy all you can taste is heat and not the flavor of the food. Everyone there is very inviting and informative. They have the best teas and spices you can get in such a small middle of nowhere town and you can even get some produce that isn't sold in stores here. The restaurant in the back is mine and my partners all time favorite since moving to Oklahoma from California! It really is the best place to go to try new things and we've never been let down. Food here is really outstanding. There's lots of variety, and everything tasted fresh and delicious. You can order way ahead with Grubhub and designate a time you'd like it to be ready. We took ours home and added some cilantro for a little fresh greenery and put a few dollops of yoghurt on the plate, but that's all it needed. Portions are very generous, too. If you are light eaters,, you could probably share an entree. read more

Usually this place has been okay in my experience, but beware of perishable food. I bought frozen chapatis that were supposedly good for several more months. Opened it at home to find them covered in mold. Recently I bought a ten pound bag of brown basmati rice. Got home and opened it to have bugs fly out of it and into my house. Took it back for a replacement. Got the new bag home to find maggots. Took it back again. (Offending products still on the shelves.) Guy didn't want to give me my money back without a receipt, and wouldn't just give me the slightly more expensive (by $2) bag of brown basmati rice. Wanted to charge me for it. read more

My review is of the new restaurant in the back of the store that just opened up. It is so nice to have an Indian food option in Stillwater again! I hate having to drive to either Tulsa or OKC to get Indian food. I really enjoyed the lunch buffet. There were mostly spicy options today, which I love! My sister has a weaker constitution so it would have helped if they had had some of the Raita sauce (yogurt & cucumber sauce) to help cool down the heat for her. They had a nice variety of food on their buffet. I think they rotate dishes throughout the week. We were there on a Sunday. The building is easy to miss & because it is a grocery store as well as a restaurant in the back of the store it doesn't appear "inviting" from the street, but don't let that stop you from trying it. It is very clean on the inside and They have done a nice job carving out an area in the back for the restaurant. We had a very pleasant dining experience. You dont feel like you are in the back of a grocery store. They are two different areas in the same building. Parking can be a bit challenging. It is very limited in front of the building but there is a variety of parking spots within easy walking distance. read more

Love it! Finally, no more driving to OKC or Tulsa to get good Indian/Nepalese cuisine. We're so glad we heard about this restaurant located inside the Himalayan grocery store. It's takeout only right now due to COVID-19 (I'm writing this review on 6/27/2020) but we will definitely order again, and we look forward to dining in at the buffet when it opens in the future. Everything was fresh, delicious, and thoughtfully packaged so there would be no spills in the car on the way home. The chicken korma was perfect. I ordered it "mild" and loved it, so next time I'll be more adventurous and order it a little spicier. It came with fragrant, lightly spiced rice which was so good we would it eat even by itself. The momo dumplings and pakora fritters were amazing, and the dipping sauces were fantastic. The menu has a good variety of different curries (chicken, lamb, and vegetarian options), sides, drinks, and desserts. We look forward to trying them all eventually. Great food and friendly service! Plus, while you're there, you can pick up fresh produce and Indian and Middle Eastern groceries you wouldn't find anywhere else in Stillwater. read more

The worst experience I had today with them. Not keeping the word. I have asked them for a takeaway dish at 11 AM today. I have confirmed yesterday about the possibility of getting it at that time. They said it's possible and asked me to call morning at 10:10 and remind them and they could make it in 45 min. When I called up today, the guy whoever took the phone (said he's the chef) was arrogant and even denied getting my calls last night. Also said that they will not be able to make it at the said time. Almost everything you need is here at a very reasonable price .. Real greek yogurt .. Lebanese pita bread .. Huge selection of cheese and fresh vegetables.. Hookah tobacco is available too ..the owner is a very nice guy .. He promised that he will try provide more stuff in future .. Such as fresh meats ,chicken and fish .. I always thought that Stillwater lacking authentic asian and middle eastern foods and spices grocery stores .. Some other grocery stores are expensive and selling many expired items with a very minimal selection to choose from .. I would highly recommend the Haloumi cheese that I posted .. Try to sear it in little olive oil with slices of tomato then just before preparing your sandwich add some wild thyme ( it is available in this store) ..
