This is the only place I know of in Oklahoma that has Flaky Halva, or what I call Hair Halawa. Yum!.

I ordered the Fufu mixed with beef and fish, and it was absolutely delicious -- well worth the price. I'll definitely be returning to this spot. I highly recommend this place to anyone interested in exploring new cultures. Anyhoo, this new grocery store has many international shelf items, fresh produce, and frozen meats and other delights. Fresh bread, no preservatives! Rare to find in the USA. But the star is the Afro Cook restaurant in the back of the store. Two women dishing up traditional West African food with a smile. Yes, this is rare. Africans don't typically do customer service. So don't expect such service at other places. It's a nice store. They are still getting their bearings, but they're already off to a good start. They're just waiting on the rest of y'all.

como con la revista de taco bueno, consideraba dar una revista en español, but the name of the…read morestore is not even all in spanish, like the aforementioned restaurant, so i'll continue the review in english. food - in preparing for the shopping experience, i was wanting bananas to prepare a smoothie with the strawberries my mom got, and tortilla chips or another complementary food to go with the queso she got also. both these items were available and affordably priced. for bananas, i selected the option "sin gas", which refers to an exclusion of pesticides and other unhealthy chemicals, though is intriguingly also the label used for "uncaffeinated" in reference to soda, which i'd seen on a sign at a corner store during a trip to peru. furthermore, the bananas were labeled as grown in guatemala, and that reminded me of a book i'd read on bananas and one of the central countries where the international banana corporations operated being guatemala. and though the best choice tortialla chips i bought are not an internationally sourced brand, the grocery store with which the brand is associated originated in oklahoma, and makes for a fascinating connection between one state-founded grocery store and another welcoming local shopping destination through a food with foreign origins, and regional distinctiveness. also, i asked for sliced chicken breast from the meat counter, and i'd later cook the chicken in the air fryer with some lemon pepper, salt, and chili powder, served atop the tortilla chips with queso to make chicken and cheese nachos. and finally, i chose a candy to complete the shopping order, specifically a spicy tamarind flavored candy called pulparindo, manufactured by the de la rosa company. that was really good also, and was not as spicy as the box might suggest, but the seasoning does give a tasty, somewhat spicy, flavor. service - the service i received was delivered at two locations by three ways, one of whom was not even working at the store. the first place was at the meat counter, where a kind woman greeted me while observing the cooked meat section of the counter, and upon seeing what appeared to be only chicharrones on display, i'd attempted to ask if the counter had any cooked meat options other than pork. however, while she did confirm that all the options in the display about which i was asking were pork, the woman did not understand my question of if the store has any cooked meat options other than pork. that said, a friendly customer also shopping at the meat counter helped translate and communicated to me the various cuts of chicken available. to me, that interaction is suggestive of an inclusive, accomadating customer and staff clientele. then, at checkout, another woman rang up the groceries efficiently, and gave me the total, which i found quite affordable for the amount and quality of groceries in the purchase. ambiance - the store was clean, and appears more organized than many grocery stores where i've shopped. although i've only been to supermercados las americas a couple times that i can remember, the store also appears to me consistently stocked with a variety of products, including both staple foods and speciality items, with the store selling central and south american products not available anywhere else, at least so near where i live.
