I've lived in Lawton three separate times over the past 12 years, and I finally tried Mutti's for the first time. And I loved it! The bread was fresh, the salad with pickled cucumbers and green beans was refreshing. My schnitzel plate was hot and crispy, and I couldn't decide on just one side so I got two- the German potato salad and red cabbage. I loved both. Kind of wish I would've added the sauerkraut too though. Lorenzo got the sampler plate with a little of everything, and I heard zero complaints from him. He even loved the homemade curry ketchup. But I think his favorite was the giant mug of German Dunkel he got to drink. The girls loved their kid schnitzel plate too. We could t leave without dessert, so we grabbed a lemon streusel cake to go. The best part was the atmosphere and staff though. The longer we sat, the more restless the kids got. The staff told us they had a kid's section with toys and a play tent that the girls were welcome to. They went from bouncing off the walls to not wanting to leave. Mutti's is an absolute gem in Lawton. I ordered the sampler and everything on the plate was done right, hearty, comforting, and full of authentic German flavor. The sauerkraut was especially good, tangy and perfectly balanced. But what truly stole the show was something simple and unexpected: their vinegar salad. Canned green beans, fresh cucumber, and shredded lettuce soaking up the most incredible, clean, old-world vinegar dressing. It was humble, honest food done exceptionally well, the kind of dish that sticks with you long after the meal is over. You can tell this is food made with care and tradition. This place was sooo good! We were visiting Wichita mountains and stopped in. Husband and I shared a platter where we got amazing sauerkraut and tried all types of sausages and the potatoes were delicous! The schnitzel was the winner. Kiddos loved it too. We got an extra dish to take back to my in laws. They also have a kids section where kids can play with toys while you wait for your food. We also got the strudels to go because they ran out of chocolate forest cake. Everything tasted fresh. Also very cool to hear wait staff speak German to customers who were German. Oh. My. Goodness. Mutti's German Restaurant in Lawton is an absolute treasure. I just ate there and I'm still dreaming about the food! First of all--the beer with the Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (yes, Black Forest cake!) was unexpectedly PERFECT. Sweet, rich, and just the right kind of indulgent. We ordered the combo platter, and let me tell you--it was like a tour of Germany on a plate. The Wiener schnitzel, the bratwurst, knackwurst, leberkäse, and wienerle... every bite was better than the last. The potatoes (SO crispy), the sauerkraut, and that tangy red cabbage--seriously, every single side brought something special. My boyfriend is of German descent and explained everything to me, which made it all even more fun. He loved the curry ketchup (I wasn't a fan, but hey--more for him!), and the mustard? Bold, spicy, and totally addictive. And that homey, welcoming vibe? It felt like walking into someone's Oma's kitchen. What a gem Mutti's is! My first time here during my visit to Lawton. I've heard great things about the place, so I was excited to try it out myself. Upon entering, the vibes and aesthetic were very German! There were many knick knacks and trinkets along with German music playing to complete the ambiance. Our servers were sweet and quick. We ordered the pretzel with cheese to start, and though it was pretty good, it was nothing special. I then received a light pickled salad that made for a nice palette cleanser. For my meal, I ordered the Jaeger Schnitzel with fries, and it was delicious. The schnitzel was fresh, crispy, and yummy! The mushroom gravy paired well with it. The fries were battered which are my favorite kind of fries, and I had them with curry ketchup and mayo. My partner ordered the bratwurst with spaetzle and a side of sauerkraut. The bratwurst was flavorful and had a nice snap. I was personally a fan of the spaetzle-- though I've never had it before. For dessert we ordered the almond bread pudding, and it was warmed and served with vanilla ice cream. It was the best dessert to end our meal! read more

A very long wait with really bad service. I ordered the soup which was awful. The waitress was angry that I didn't like it. The cashier made a scene and insisted not only that I pay for it, but pay their required 18% gratuity as well. I would NEVER recommend this place. Based on my personal preferences I would rate this a bit lower (3) because absolutely everything has bacon in it. I very much do not like bacon, but I also knew what I was getting into at a German restaurant. You're in for a really heavy meal, lots of pork.  The vibe is very in point, it looks like my German Grandma's house, lots of trinkets and wood panels.  The food is very authentic, and the sampler platter gives an excellent representation of the menu. I'm pretty picky about meat, and I tried everything. Everything was pretty tasty.  Waitresses here are so friendly and attentive, and the food comes really quickly.  Took off a star for cleanliness. The table had lots of food particles and grease smudges still, and the fabric conference table chairs at our table were absolutely filthy and stained. I also did not care for the spaetzle, it was quite soft and small. I prefer it  larger, more al dente. And again, everything tasted like bacon (German potatoes, fried potatoes), which I do not like. We got the bacon spaetzle because that's what everyone else wanted, so I picked out the bacon, but it was really just inedible to me, it tasted like it was even cooked in bacon fat.  The sampler for 2 was more than enough food for our family of 5 and was only $30, pretty amazing deal. read more

Hubby and I arrived for an early dinner. No one greeted us, but a local sitting at the table next to the door told us to grab a table. All of the tables were large community tables, but we were able to find a four top. The loaf of bread was not homemade. I got the jager schnitzel and Hubby the grill teller plate. The food was ok, but it did not feel homemade. My schnitzel gravy was thick and lumpy. I got a piece of cake, which was dry and stale. Hubby got the bread pudding, which was ok. While visiting our son at Ft Sil- he told us that there was an authentic German restaurant in town. We've been dying to try it out. Came in on a Friday afternoon for dinner and it was already getting busy. We were seated right away and our waitress took our orders quickly too. The menu is somewhat limited but the food was delish! I really wanted to have the experience that everyone else is having. The decor and vibe of the place is fun and is clearly a favorite in the town. The disappointment came from the banana weissen which tasted like dessert and was so sweet it wasn't drinkable. The farmhouse schnitzel was cold. Don't know how or why it got to our table cold but it was cold. Service never came around. Perhaps if I had the opposite experience this would have been the experience that I read about. read more

I'm sorry, the food was absolutely horrendous. First the items: the mushrooms for the gravy are canned and also the brown gravy for the schitsels . No flavor whatsoever in the schitzels. A chef must put salt to meat. it's chicken not pork as is the real thing. Come on , salad old and canned vegetables, not acceptable. Bread from a bag terrible. The spetzels terrible. Then I pick up n she wants a tip, should not have bc I picked the food. We love German food and unfortunately it's not as easy to find as some other kinds, so when we saw there was a German restaurant in Lawton (we were there for my son's graduation from Basic Training at Ft. Sill), we knew we were going to indulge. I called and made reservations just because I wasn't sure if we'd need them or not. They had just opened when we got there, but they slowly filled up while we were eating. I'm guessing both out of towners and locals. They had a number of different kinds of schnitzel and we all tried something different. We weren't disappointed. All were excellent. I had the red cabbage, one of my boys had the fried corn, another had spaetzel, and another had potatoes. It was so good! It's worth driving to Lawton just to eat here. So...we find our intrepid travelers in Lawton, OK, home to the Army's Fires Center of Excellence in Fort Sill. Why, you ask? A loved one is coming home from a military deployment. Why else would one willingly come here? Anyway, after we drove from OKC to Lawton (prepare for tolls along I-44 by the way - living in HI and being from Cali, we normally don't see tolls in interstates/highways) and checked into our hotel, we were a bit hungry when I checked out Yelp. There were a few decently reviewed establishments, but since we don't have any good German options in HI, we decided to try out Mutti's German Restaurant for a late lunch. We've both been stationed in Germany before and generally like German food so we both looked forward to sampling some authentic German fare. Located in an industrial area along Sheridan Rd. and just off the corner of Sheridan Rd. and Lee Blvd., Mutti's looked liked its been there a while. Upon entering, a blown up menu showed a wide variety of schintzels, wursts and appetizers. We stood by the counter for a minute or two waiting to be acknowledged by an older lady, who clearly saw us walk in. We finally asked another lady if we should just pick a table and were told yes. OK! Upon walking in, you can see all the German kitsch along the walls and shelves, with various steins, mugs, beer bottles and the obligatory fading travel-related posters. The place was pretty spacious with plenty of seating and what I recall were three or four long table arrangements one would normally see in a beer hall for an Oktoberfest celebration. My wife ordered the Rahm Schnitzel with brown gravy and I tried their Farmer's Schnitzel topped with brown gravy, bacon and over medium egg. Our meal came with German salad (quite yummy and refreshing) and a seemingly stale brotchen served with butter. The Schnitzels were good, although my wife thought she's had better gravy, especially from the Schnitzel House in Colorado Springs. We also tried their German cheesecake with some coffee, hoping they're as good as the ones from Deutsche Ecke outside Fort Knox. They were good but not as good as the ones from Deutsche Ecke. Service was a bit brusque, especially from the older lady. Food was decent but not the best German food we've had. All in all, a good meal...more like 3.5 stars. Late lunch for 2 came out to just over $42 with tip. Note: - They charge $1 for credit card payments - Rouladen is served every Thursdays...not on the menu. I wished I had asked because I love rouladen. It would've been nice if the servers informed us they were available that day. - In speaking with a server, a friendly one, we found out this establishment has been around for about 18 years and moved into this location, the former German-American Club, maybe 8 or 10 years ago read more
