I enjoyed 2 spicy margaritas.. it was truly a classic with a twist.. perfectly balanced so refreshing. My husband enjoyed Woodford Bourbon Reserve.. pour was generous.. great selection. We enjoyed our time there so much we returned for our nightcap. I enjoyed La Frida absolutely a treat!!! One sip and your mouth was happy. My husband enjoyed more Woodford Reserve. Right when you come through the doors, you immediately are memorized by the Fritz Memoir paint on the wall and would think that this is an actual great place to eat. Colorful walls, good smelling atmosphere and an easy move to the bar where there is a variety of choices in Tequila. The menu was very easy to go thru and not too complicated to choose from. Plenty of photos for main attractive dishes that probably are the main choices. What surprises me is that how authentic this place looks and feels; I was surprised of them not having carnitas choices! Your kept to the cheese, chicken, shrimp, and beef style tacos and orders. I was also surprised of not seeing any Pesole or Menudo since they had other soupas options. Drinks were both in draft and bottled which are always a good thing, but sadly when you go to the draft the cups aren't filled to the brim. Arrangement were made to fit as if they can house a lot so table space were very tight. Especially if you have a big group, doable. Flavor was good, but had better. I'm giving it a three stars. Went here for taco Tuesday because it's the right thing to do. The tacos were 3 dollars a taco which isn't bad at all. I'll start with Service. I think our waiter's name was Danny or Phil or something like that. Skinny tall white kid. Super nice, attentive, and was always on point. Never missed a beat. I will give him a 5 star for service. The margarita flight was pretty cool and I say the peach one was the best one. The chips and sauces were amazing. It's a pretty chill environment to be sat with the bros after work. Let's start with tacos. I got two birria, one al pastor, and one asada. In total to be 13 dollars which isn't bad at all. The birria i had very high hopes for. It lacked a little bit of flavor and my tortilla wasn't as crispy tasty as it should be when it's dipped in consume. Overall i would give it another chance. The Al pastor was the biggest disappointment of all. It lacked flavor and i think the only saving grace were the pineapple chunks. The asada was good, it was on point. I think i should have just got that instead. Overall the tacos is 3/5. Overall it is not a bad place. I just believe the food should come out on time as people in my table for food, some food was forgotten, and some orders were mixed up. The service was good. Food was okay. But here's the reason why we are giving this place a 1 star. My sister ordered their alcohol drink which comes in this plastic patron tiny bottle that you can get from Amazon. They took her license and hold on to it. When she asked for it back AFTER paying the bill the server said no because per their policy they're afraid we might walk out with their bottles. The server said they have to take the bottles first and then give the license back. The only reason why my sister wants her license back is because she's afraid the server might forget. I've been to many places, even outside the country and no one ever hold on to our license when we order alcohol. If the restaurant is so afraid someone steals their cheap tiny bottle, why not put the customers credit card on tap instead? This restaurant needs to rethink their policy. read more

This restaurant was recommended to me. I was thoroughly disappointed. At best the food was mediocre. My lunch partner had chili relleno, which was serviced cold. Evidently the relleno was frozen,(not restaurant made) then put in the micro-wave to be heated. The lunch was sent back, only to be given the same plate that was reheated. (You would have thought the manager would come over and apologize). My enchilladas had good chicken in them, but no flavor. The red sauce was more like a red food coloring with no flavor. I will start with the positives.... The chips were fresh and perfect! The unsweet tea was delicious and fresh! Service was nonexistent even though their were four tables two six waitresses. Hospital food has more flavor. The cheese dip tasted like it came out of a can and if you love mild salsa this is your place. The green salsa was creamy and tasted like lime juice. Don't let the fact this restaurant is in a plaza fool you. Their food is delicious. The rice and the beans have that authentic fresh taste and the salsa is extremely refreshing. There were three taco with plenty of shrimp and it came with rice and refried beans. The beans were very good and the rice was fine. The waitress was new and a couple of people mentioned she could have come by the table a few more times but for me, the service was excellent. The ambiance was either a small room or an indoor open air atmosphere which was nice. Overall a very pleasant experience with very good food. I have been going to this restaurant since it opened to in person seating. It was great in the beginning. But I have noticed since it has become a popular spot, both service and food orders have gone downhill. I complained once before and management apologized. Last night both mine and my husband's food orders were incorrect. I ordered the El Tazon bowl with fajita beef. I was served the bowl missing rice, guacamole and the slaw mention in the description. Once I asked for rice and guacamole it was brought. My dish was cold by then. My husband ordered the Lawton burrito. It was served with cubed fried potatoes, not the rice and beans listed in the menu. He ate it and didn't send it back. I understand busy and high turnover, but get the orders correct, especially when people are paying good money to enjoy your food. read more

Been to El Toro twice so far. The first time I was with the date and both of us had a tri-color something and we each tried the others and both agreed they were delicious. Today I went and got the chorizo egg and bean burrito with breakfast potatoes. It was also delicious. The decor is nice and appropriate to the restaurant. I've had two different waitresses one had very little clue about the menu or what was on it but it was early when they first open and she was probably new. The other was a little bit more knowledgeable and seemed more comfortable in the role. I forget what I paid for the date but today's meal for the burrito, a soda, side of avocado, and a cup of queso was $21. I feel that's a fair price and I left satisfied. My only complaints if I had any were that the salsa is sweet and tastes almost like a marinara sauce and the other salsa has too much onion but I'm also not a fan of onions. Speaking of which, the breakfast potatoes had tomatoes and onions chopped up in them which I was able to eat around so it wasn't that big a deal but it would have been nice if I could have got that as an option to exclude as the menu didn't say anything about that. We were in town to watch our oldest son graduate from basic. When we travel we rarely eat at chain restaurants and this place was next to our hotel. I am so glad that we tried this place but at the same time I'm sad I live 14 hours away. This has to be one of the best experiences we've had during our travels. The food was absolutely delicious, their top shelf margarita was one of the best I've had, and the service was exceptional. Our waitress in particular, wish I remembered her name, was one of the kindest people I've ever met. See, we went to dinner after dropping our son off back at the barracks and I was a hot mess express... we needed to feed our two other boys and I was in no place to want to sit in a restaurant so we needed to order something to go. We (my husband and I) walked in and were immediately greeted and seated after telling the hostess we were just placing a to-go order. They sat us in the bar area and promptly brought us a basket of chips, two salsas (the best I've ever had but I like spicy and cilantro), and waters. My husband told the server we weren't staying long and she expressed that they always serve the chips and salsa regardless of how long we'd be there. My husband asked about their margaritas and the server recommended the top shelf, I gladly accepted and the drinks were brought to us quickly. Placed our to-go order and sipped our margaritas... drinks were so tasty, it was like a margarita on the rocks with a frozen one floating on top and went down like a fat kid on a see-saw. Our food was ready just as we finished our drinks. The amount of food you get is huge, I didn't come close to finishing my meal. This place needs more reviews! If you are in the area it's the best Mexican food you will find and it's not close. Staff was all very friendly and the restaurant is clean. The salsa was very flavorful and you can ask for a spicy salsa as well to go with your chips. (They are super tasty combined). My wife got the ceviche which was fresh and the shrimp were clean. I got the 4 combo to try everything. Chili sauce on the enchilada was good tamale was very flavorful the pork was moist and the tamale itself was not dry. the Birria taco was excellent. I've had quite a few Birria tacos in different parts of the country (shameful amount) and these ones are up there The consome is flavorful rich and clean.
