The Foods.... Appetiser- Bread Basket- you get 2 very hard baked pretzels and 1 dinner roll in this appetizer. The only good thing besides the one Artisan European style dinner roll was the authentic Dosseldorf mustard. Entree I ordered was 1 Beef sausage and a Pork sausage. Both called a different name in German. I ordered Germain potatoes and Red Cabbage. My beef sausage was way over cooked my pork sausage was fine and I guess they were of average flavor. The German potatoes were flavorless and no where close to German. My redcabbage was good. I ordered Mushroom gravy on my sausages. If done right that gravy is very good. However, they made this gravy with canned mushrooms and instant brown gravy mix and was pretty much flavorless. My dinner came with a dinner roll. They placed it on my dinner plate in the gravy. Couldn't pick it up without getting gravy on my hand. My date ordered a Weinerschnizel. It was good but very over cooked they gave my red Cabbage to her. She didn't order it but it was big enough to share. She ordered Pommfrietes (seasoned French fries not really authentic Pommfrietes. They were not so great. Server was over worked as they were busy. We had to get up with drink glasses and go chase down water refills. They kept the glasses and about a minute later the waiter walk by with our water glasses and gave them to two other people at a different table. I bought him on the way back by our table and said excuse me but you just gave our water to that table up front. He said oh yes, I did. I suggested he retrieve the 2 glasses of water before they drank out of them. He did do that. Brought them. Back to our table without us knowing if they drank out of our glasses. It was not fresh, it was not authentic and it resembled German foods by was a bad representation. I won't be back. Restaurant was clean no low dinner music. Ambiance was lacking. Waiter was a nice young man but either timid or thought he should not talk loud enough he wouldn't disturb other customers by talking to us. Oh and instead of putting our butter on a small plate or dish. They put it on my dinner plate in the gravy. This place was definitely not a class place. Not that it had to be. However, for their moderately priced menu. It needed to have more class than this restaurant showed. read more

Compared to the parent establishment, Royal Bavaria, this place comes up short. However some things on the menu are very close to what I have experienced in my many travels to Austria and Germany. Being in town and having a smaller footprint, they do a good job on a varied menu. People complaining regarding the bread/rolls, these are very close to what you experience overseas. The spätzal is authentic. The German potato salad is close to what I've experienced. The Wūrsts are all consistent with what I've experienced. The beer selection is good and is MARVELOUS! I wish the wine selection would offer the traditional Blaufrankish red wine, but alas, they don't export this from Austria/Germany. The offer only domestic wine, pity. If you want more authentic fare and a greatly expanded menu, go to Royal Bavaria. However, if you are in town and are curious, Das Bootcamp will offer you an excellent introduction to German/Austrian cuisine. read more

The cheese curds were an excellent suggested starter from our waitress! She then helped guide to the Swiss schnitzel, but stayed the potato soup could pair as a side. I chose the mashed potatoes, and was so satisfied with the gravy flavors! Loved all the German touches with beer stein decor, German hats, a Black Forest feeling, including a hidden fairy garden at the entrance. Beer boot lighting gave the space an extra kick of fun, and generous seating options made it feel cozy, but also comfy cushions gave it a sense of "home". The food was FANTASTIC! I never had authentic German food before, first time I went here I think it was either fall or spring semester 2023, had Oktoberfest beer, couldn't finish it but it was fun to try. The service was great,the employees there are generous and caring. Ask for their recommendations and try the bread pudding, I never had it before and it definitely exceeded my expectations! Affordable restaurant option in Norman, OK located close to campus! The cheese noodles was delicious-homemade spaetzle with aSwiss cheese sauce with an added sausage. My boyfriend enjoyed the Wiener schnitzel but wasn't a fan of the brown gravy and spaetzle, especially after he tried my dish! The goulash soup tasted more like a beef stew then goulash. It came out at the same time as our meal and my boyfriend felt rushed to eat it so his entree didn't get cold! German chocolate bread pudding was great! Placed a to go order for delivery. Once we received our food, one of our orders was completely wrong. I called and spoke to the manager, she stated it was not there fault and did not offer to apologize. She stated I could come get my missing items but nothing else could be done. My sister (who lived in Germany for many years) and I really wanted some good German food. We went to Das Boot in Norman, OK. We both ordered the Weinerschnitzel and a Weizenbeer. The schnitzels were so loaded with garlic, I couldn't eat it and sent it back. I got a Reuben instead and it was delicious. My sister couldn't eat hers either, but didn't send it back and left it. We went to Das Boot Camp for a nice date night and could not have been more pleased! When we entered the restaurant, we were greeted right away by a friendly staff member who seated us right away. Our server (Ally) seamlessly took over and brought the flight of beer we ordered within just a few minutes. Our server gave us an appropriate amount of time to enjoy our beer before coming over to take our order and did the same for each course; we enjoyed each dish we ordered without feeling rushed, but also without having to wait, amazing service! As for the food....WOW! We first tried the Sausage Plate appetizer ( three types of sausage, sliced into bite size pieces accompanied by a delicious sauerkraut and spicy mustard) which was an absolute tastebud treat. For our main course, my husband ordered the Hot Polish Sausage plate with a side of what he described as the best German Potato Salad he had ever tried and I ordered the Yeager Schnitzel which was nice and tender with a perfect crunch coating, and Spätzle that was as light and fluffy as it comes. For dessert we ordered the Chocolate Bread Pudding which was nice and moist (a chocolate lover's dream come true) and Apple Strudel. We left smiling and VERY satiated! I'm a big fan of German food and I've been really impressed with the selection here! They have several German style beers on tap, brewed locally by Royal Bavaria, and lots of great food on the menu. Most recently I had the cheese noodles with grobe bratwurst and it was so flavorful! The schnitzels, pretzels and beer cheese are all yummy too. We usually sit at the bar when we come and the service has been consistently great. I'm not in Norman much, but this is definitely one I find myself coming back to when I'm here! read more

5/5 Stars just for the schnitzel sandwich. It is out of this world. The tang of the lemon. The crunch of the breading. The savory pork. My mouth is watering thinking of this amazing sandwich. So good! I work nearby so I come down every now and then and nearly always order this sandwich. The second best thing about Das Boot is the lunch special. They change it out every day and have brunch specials on the weekend. Fridays are the best because they have fried catfish. All of their sides are amazing. I like the red cabbage the best. It's not as sour as sauerkraut. The warm potato salad and their fries are good too. They also make a helluva salad. There's really nothing you can go wrong with. read more

Amazing! The food and service were incredible. I got the Jager burger and my wife got the grilled sausage appetizer. I can't say enough about how good these were! My wife got the LIT and I got a flight of their 6 beers. My wife said it was the best LIT she's ever had. Their beers were very tasty too. Camaron was our server, and was very outgoing and friendly, but not in an obnoxious way. We had never heard of this place before, but are glad we found it. Food is good. The ambience is horrendous. It is not a place for a meal with loved ones. Full of loud boisterous elderly drunks that must have left their hearing aids at home. The manager didn't even apologize but became very defensive. They need to partition the bar area from the dining area. Definitely more authentic. My husband got the pork snitzel. My son had the spaetzel. We all enjoyed our food. The service was good and it was a short wait for the food. Caveat: I am not a fan of German food. The seasoning hits me wrong and it is a tad heavy. But since Das Boot has managed to stick around so long and so many people rave about it, I finally decided to give it a try. Reading through the menu, I was reminded of the reality that German food is not my thing, but I was intrigued by a few items and I love beer, so to start, we decided to order a flight with one of each of their beers and we got the German Beer and Pretzel Cheese Curds as an appetizer. So yeah, about not liking German food... Oh, heavens, did those cheese curds change my mind! The dipping sauces were both fabulous as well, and while I won't be making a habit of cheese curds, they were flippin' awesome! We ended up taking home a growler as well. This will still be a 'rare occasion' place for us, but if you enjoy German cuisine, you should definitely check out Das Boot. read more

The service was great on a Sunday night after 9pm. We were able to get $4 liters of beer, so that was a plus. We ordered three meals between the two of us (we got excited) and liked them all. Das Boot Camp August 2018 We wanted a quick bite & a celebratory drink before Norman PRIDE parade. It's great that this spot is right on Main Street and has primetime sidewalk seating. I had mentally set the bar low for our dinner experience, just in case- I don't know why. I was so pleasantly surprised by their fresh offerings and tasty menu items. I had the schnitzel sandwich--wow. It's a breaded pork loin, fried, served with lemon, lettuce, tomato, and a tasty lemon caper aioli served on a bun. The WOWsers element was that lemon piece on the sandwich. It elevated it to a whole 'nother level of fresh and tasty and it wasn't overly greasy. Also, the bread was fresh and delicious. I also had a salad with house dressing which I thought was really good and I would certainly order it again. Das Boot Camp also has their own line of German style draft beers. You can order their beer in several sizes: large, humongous, to the biggest thing of beer I've ever seen in my life. I'm a hop-a-licious kinda gal and I didn't see anything overly hoppy on the beer menu offerings, but the wheaty coriander one I ordered tasted hit the spot. If you chose to sit outside on the sidewalk seating just note that you can only order beer, no hard alcoholic spirits are allowed on the sidewalk (August 2018). Overall, I was surprised by this little spot. The freshness and flavor of my meal kinda took me by surprise. I'd go back again! read more

We had a fantastic lunch here, from the food to the drinks and especially the Octoberfest beer! The boots are discounted at happy hour, go get yourself one! We had the sausage appetizer and I'm usually not big on sausage, however, these were delicious. The spicy one was AMAZING, and the mustard that went with it was a great compliment to the richness of the sausage. We also split the pork loin sandwich...it was SO GOOD. It's been several years since we've been as we don't live in Norman. But we were and after our appointment we stopped there for a late as in 2:45pm late lunch. It wasn't busy, surprise, but we were greeted and seated immediately. They have a good selection of beers which were all available. We passed on an appetizer, but I would of picked 2 if we had had time to set a spell. Grilled Sausage appetizer, bite siz brat, chees brat, white lightning sausages in bite size pieces and bavarian sauerkraut and the Munich bread basket, because german bread with german mustard. Yes, please. I went with the Reuben sandwich. Ruebens are my go to. If I see it on a menu I'm ordering it. Corned beef, kraut, swiss cheese, their special sauce on toasted rye bread. Loved it. The bread to filling was great. Toasted perfectly and buttery. Crunchy. Meat was lean so you didn't take a bite of it and 1/2 of it drag off the sandwich because of fat. Kraut not to tangy or wet, and sauce was like 1,000 island, but not as sweet which I appreciated. Swiss was melted and clung to the meat and bun. This came with a side of my choice and because one can never have too much cabbage I picked red cabbage. Delicious as a side. Not over cooked. Cabbage was tender but you had a chew to it. A bit sweet, but not like over the top sweet. I was happy with my choices. Like I said, it had been more years than I care to admit to since I've eaten there and the quality of food, beer and service is just as I remember. read more
