I had accidentally tapped a pillar with my car door and it wouldn't close quite right although had no obvious damage to any component. I saw the great reviews here, so brought it in to see what could be done because it seemed obvious that something was just misaligned. Tech came out to inspect my car and was telling me I definitely needed new hinges! I might need a new door! This is going to run a lot of money! That they weren't going to try to investigate a misalignment because they wanted to do things "the right way!" Sure buddy. I thanked him, left and went to the body shop just down the street. Where a tech took a look at the door, determined that the A-pillar on the car door hinge had just gotten bumped out of place, bumped it back into place which fixed the problem, and within 15 seconds sent me on my way. Didn't even charge me because it was such a minor "repair" if you can even call it that. Royal might be good at what they do, I don't know. But they tried to upsell me on a repair that was thousands of dollars for something that wasn't even broken and was a component easily pushed right back into place. So definitely get a second opinion if you go here. read more

I called Royal Auto Body shop fifteen minutes before they closed because I had just gotten out of work and noticed my splash shield was dragging on the pavement underneath my car. I had an hour and a half drive home and didn't want to leave it dangling, so I found the closest auto shop and Anthony said to bring it on over. I will say they did an overall effective job of repairing my car, pulled out dent effectively, preserved good panel gaps and matched factory orange peel pattern however it came at the expense of some flaws and lack of attention. Had a quarter panel repaired on a BMW, unfortunately there was paint overspray on the wheel liners and bolts as well as splotchy paint under the rear of the bumper cover (this is a issue as there is no clear coat and some bubbling which will eventually come undone). Unfortunately the prep work wasn't done properly on the bumper cover. Im not sure if my car was a rush job or just how they do business which the typical consumer doesn't have the eye for but I personally wouldn't go back. There are lots of good reviews for this place but mostly by people whom are unaware of quality body work. For the average consumer, this is a good place to go, but if you are a car guy and own a high end car, go to DV masters. read more

There was a terrible blizzard in the DMV area on Monday and I was able to make it home from work in one piece but unfortunately my car didn't. In my quest to trek up the hilly streets of DC, my front left wheel fender liner broke in half and my engine cover became loose under my car. I was worried about fixing it but I called Royal Auto Body the next day and Gary assured me he could take a look at it the same day. He confirmed the broken fender liner and told me I would have to get the whole fender liner replaced because it was cracked in half. I prepaid for the part and got a call back 2 days later from Welby, who told me I could come in and get the work performed the same day. Fast forward to less than an hour later, and my car is fixed again and ready for my hourlong commutes to DC. Huge thanks to Gary and Welby for their responsiveness, friendliness, workmanship, and honesty. I would recommend this place to anyone needing serious body repair. I had to price shop several places for multiple reasons: 1. just moved in to this area from another state, 2. had to self pay due to bad decisions, 3. there is likelihood that women gets overcharged at auto body shop. This place gave me the lowest quote, it was too good to be true because it's about $1000 cheaper than the best quote I got from the State I used to live but also was as almost a half amount to the one I got from another location (I wouldn't disclose the name, but it's the one with the highest rating and most reviewed). The number of days to repair was also about a half compared to the other shop. I read all the 5-star reviews and decided that I would forego "shopping" around to compare prices and just trust that this establishment would be the best choice. I asked my husband to follow me to the shop and when we arrived, I backed into what I thought was a spot and my husband backed his car into a spot right next to me. I spotted a man outside the shop, so I assumed he must be the owner. I open the door to get out my car and even before I closed the door the man started yelling at me to "move my car" and asked me if I was "going down there" (he pointed away from his shop). I was shocked and said "Oh, I'm sorry - I didn't see a 'do not park sign' - but then he's like "move away from my door - you parked by my door - move your car...move your car'. And here's the thing -- had he asked in a professional/courteous manner - no problem. I'd move my car. But this man saw two individuals - park in front of his shop - and instead of being courteous to who may be potential paying customers, he instead greeted me with rudeness! When he asked if I was going to another shop (not sure why he would ask that) - I told him, "Actually I WAS here to see you - but since you're rude, I'll take my business elsewhere....good day sir!" There are a lot of auto body shops around, and Mr. Toukaman lost a paying customer. He didn't even give me the chance to show him what I needed done! I won't refer anyone to him.
