Dr. Paul Lee is the best! He's young, cool and a creative thinker. He's not a drug pusher, (I hate pills), and he's great with the needle! Take it from this, needle phobic, scaredy cat...He's the "Wizard", to my , "Cowardly Lion". I've referred a number of people and they love him as much as I do but really, I love him the most! The only reason I give this place a 4 star review is because of DR. PAUL LEE he is truly amazing and a awesome doctor since I started seeing him my pain has been controlled and he is truly amazing. He has done deep trigger point injections and they have always helped me and he is truly amazing he is intelligent and very caring and has amazing bed side manner. However recently and I have no clue why Dr. Nini has been dealing with me I handled him twice once they were doing my deep injections in my spine and he did them they were supposed to be done by Dr. Lee but I guess he was sick so Nini took over and did them then for a recheck I had to see him again. He is cold and calculated. He speaks down to you and just truly makes you feel like a idiot. Has no bedside manner whatsoever hell doesnt even shake your hand or say hello to you when he walks in. Hell he doesnt even look at you sits in his chair half speaks to you or even listens he doesnt really listen at all. If you like cold and calculated he would be good I guess but he handed me a script for morphine in a tablet form for 10mg which if he was so smart as he thinks that he is he would have known that strength in a tablet form doesnt exist. yeah your smart ha ha ha. So then I had to come back and waste dr lee's time to see him and get a second script for the correct drug where dr lee looked it up made sure not only my insurance covered it but that it existed. I will continue to see Dr. Lee but beware Nini is hit and miss and for me he was terrible. Oh totally forgot that when I was seeing Nini he actually saw that I was involved ina accident had the audicity to ask me "oh you got a good settlement from that" yes Dr Nini actually did say that. For one its none of his business what came from it. Then he responded with oh I ask because we can do injections but there not covered by insurance there 5000 out of pocket hasnt seen me but this one time and doesnt know my history medically hasnt said a word to me beyond that and he wants to upsell me injections that are 100 percent out of pocket hell no I dont have that much money lying around to waste on that treatment. This is my second back injury and Dr. Nini is one of the best I've ever seen! I found him through a friend's referral (who had great success with him) after I saw another doctor who had zero interest in dealing with my back injury. Dr. Nini is a great guy, he listened to me, answered all my many questions, and he cares about his patients. I was in agonizing pain and could barely move, so he worked hard on getting all my procedures taken care of as quickly as possible even with the holidays slowing things down. He would spend time on the phone calling doctors/offices for me himself instead of having his staff do it. In the end, he ended up referring me to another doctor when it became apparent I needed surgery. I still see him for pain injections as I recover. I highly recommend Dr. Nini to anyone with a back injury! read more

As the yelp cliché now goes, 'if only there were zero stars...' Please do yourself a HUGE favor and find another doctor's office for your ailment(s). You will be sparing yourself from being had by two unethical crooks. I only wish I had read the online reviews before making an appointment. Looks like I will have to get my hindsight checked as well. Long story short: Dr. Nini's office was recommended to me by my rheumatologist. I had been having chronic back pain that was presumed to be a pinched nerve. I wanted to jump straight to an MRI to confirm this but my rheumatologist recommended a nerve test first. I went ahead and called to make an appointment so that I could get the nerve test done and therefore get the MRI that I knew I needed. When calling to make an appointment, I made sure that they accepted my health insurance. I got a point blank: 'yes, we take that insurance.' When I got to the office for my appointment, I presented my insurance card and confirmed, yet again, that they take my insurance. I was assured that they do take it. I had my appointment with Dr. Lee, was zapped a bunch of times in the leg and came away with inconclusive test results. Waste of time, which is fine. At least it only cost me a co-pay, right? OR SO I THOUGHT. Oddly, three days after my appointment, I was called by Dr. Nini's office and was asked what my insurance was. Again, I provided the info and reminded them that I gave them my card to copy while in the office. I had also filled out paperwork (which must have been lost? Who knows.) Again, it was confirmed that they accept my insurance. A month later I received a bill for $2780. Insurance had only covered a minimal amount. When I called to discuss this with Dr. Nini's office, I asked, yet again: 'do you take ____ insurance'? She said 'yes, we do.' I then said 'that's funny, because I have a bill that says otherwise.' Only then did the truth come out. 'Oh yeah, we take ____ insurance but the Dr. is out of network.' Huh? That's like saying 'yes, we take your insurance but also don't at all'. It makes no sense. I started reading online reviews and saw that I wasn't alone. Many other had been had by this type of misrepresentative fraud. I would mention which insurance company I have (it's a major one) but I wouldn't want to give the impression that others besides mine are accepted here. You'll never truly know until you get a bill. You certainly will not get an honest answer from Dr. Nini's office. I tried for numerous months to try and settle this but my calls were ignored by the doctor. His receptionists kept referring me, per his instructions likely, to their third party accounting service--somewhere in El Segundo, where a woman who had not lied to me in their office, was forced to explain to me that the doctor was out of network and I owed $2780. Unreal. I didn't fault her. She was just doing her job and was being used as a shield so that the real liar didn't have to deal with this. It wasn't until I got a FINAL bill from Dr. Nini's third party billing service that I decided to send a certified letter threatening legal action if I didn't hear back from THEM SPECIFICALLY, not their billing service. I explained how they had misled me numerous times and that I should only be paying a $40 co-pay for the visit. Even this letter was ignored for a month. It wasn't until NEW YEAR'S EVE that I heard, yet again, from Dr. Nini's third party service. The gist of her call was 'we got your letter. I spoke with the doctor. He is willing to take $500 flat instead of the $2780 but you have to pay now. If you don't, we'll go to collections with the full amount next month.' Obvious, lame attempt at end-of-the-year fiscal bookkeeping. Is this person a doctor or a used car salesman, you ask? I have no clue. Does this seem like professional/ethical behavior? You decide. Regardless, you should spare yourself the trouble and find another doctor besides Dr. Roy Nini or Dr. Lee. After 6 months of having this weigh on me, I decided to pay these crooks $500 to go just away. Again, I am not alone, based on other online reviews. After 5 appointments and 3.5 weeks later I still wasn't on my way to getting better. In fact, I got worse. Once we found out I had a herniated disk I thought we would proceed faster to alleviate the pain. Not so much. I took weeks out to get appointments. I went in for an appointment where he just told me something, prescribed some pills and sent me on my way. The apt prior to that he said the next apt would be the nerve test. It wasn't. I had to wait another 1.5 wks. The he told me to schedule an epidermal with his assistant. So, I did and that apt was 3 wks out. My last apt with him he got mad at me telling me i should of come in sooner but I mentioned to him his assistant told me that was the soonest I could get 3wks out. I found him too busy, doesn't care about you. He never spent more than 5 minutes with me and had the nerve to kick me out of his office when I came in crying because I had been waiting 3.5 weeks already for things to happen, that weren't happening. I can't help but feel that I've been completely had and that my money for repeated doctor visits with no answers, tests or information given to me was fueling his sick coke binged evenings with hookers. I saw Dr. Nini 5 times total, one visit I got an xray, another visit i looked at my mri and told me it was a herniated disk. and 3 visits that entailed absolutely nothing but broken promises. I should of had a nerve test completed by the 2 week. I'm going on a month now. Probably the worst doctor I've ever been to, hands down. read more

The TWO visits I had, I absolutely regret. The first visit - was a consultation and he did nothing to help. He seemed like he was in a rush. I have severe back pain and he ordered an MRI only because I asked - the second visit for the followup visit he just prescribed me muscle relaxants and kept pushing me for these injections! He even said he's not sure it would help - the point is BOTH visits ended up with NO SOLUTIONS - he just wanted to upsell and get money by pushing with injections. I checked with my insurance company to see if they would cover these visits. My wife saw Dr. Nini for a herniated disc. Like the other reviewers, we found him to be very unprofessional and aloof. In addition, although he took our insurance, when he performed the nerve test, in his office, for some reason these were not covered. Dr. Nini charged us for three different nerve tests (NCV motor & wave, NCV Sensory, NCV Motor), all within the same visit with the same medical testing device, for a total of $2,200. Also charged $1,000 for a Lumbar-Sacral Orthosis otherwise known as a back brace. Strange that the other reviewers would have such a glowing opinion of Dr. Nini, seems almost too good to be true, or he really is the best Dr. on the planet and were just unlucky and had a bad experience. read more

His secretary at check out gave me a back brace and said that was free. Later when I got my statement, they had charged me for it. After I called and complained they removed the charge. I have been a patient of Dr. Nini's since 2008 after I had major back surgery. He's a good doctor, however, I'm quite angry with his billing office. Because of the health care reform, I called his billing office ad spoke with Marco on 5 separate occasions to make sure that Dr. Nini would be a Blue Shield contracted provider under the health care reform. Each time, Marco told me that Dr. Nini has been a Blue Shield contracted provider for years and assured me that he would be under the new health care reform as well. Imagine my surprise after I saw Dr. Nini in January 2014 that Dr. Nini WASN'T a contracted Blue Shield provider under the new health care reform. I'm not only stuck paying for the expensive office visit but also the EMG (nerve) study that Dr. Nini did in his office, which by then way, is over $3,000! I took out Blue Shield under Covered California based on Marco telling me that Dr. Nini would be a contracted provider when in fact, his billing office never contracted with Blue Shield and had no intention of contracting with Blue Shield. They should have been up front with me instead of being misleading. To make matters worse, now Marco is claiming he NEVER told me that Dr. Nini would be a contracted provider under Covered California. I told Marco I would never have taken out Blue Shield under Covered California if he had told me anything other Dr, Nini would be a contracted provider. Bottom line, Dr. Nini likes to take x-rays and do different tests in his office. If you do not have Blue Shield through your employer, get prescriptions and have the tests done by contracted providers otherwise you'll be paying hundreds and thousands of dollars out of your pocket! I have been seeing Dr. Nini for a little over a year. At 50 I had several broken bones including my femoral artery broken due to a major trauma. There was a period where I had to use crutches for 7months or a cane and after 4 surgeries. The solution to figure out what was causing the problem and to not just medicate has been instrumental in my healing process... I am still not the same but Dr Nini and his innovative procedures have me stabilized and I am at least 50 better and working on getting to 80%... Dr's. Nini and Lee are WONDERFUL! They are kind, patient, and explain things clearly. Even when I need to ask either doctor to slow down (sometimes they speak too quickly for me) or to repeat things, they never make me feel rushed. Sometimes I want to write down or voice record instructions/information being given to me and both doctors are very accommodating. When I explained my fears about my pain, Dr. Nini listened, validated my feelings, then did everything he could to reassure me. They always take care to ask how I am feeling and if everything is ok, besides my pain. Both doctors tend to work quickly, which I appreciate, as it saves me time; I hate long doctor visits. He sends all prescriptions to my pharmacy while he is in the office/on the phone with me, so there is never a paper prescription that I have to wait for or drop off. I never have to wait very long to see the doctor and their staff is fantastic, helpful, and professional. I have had chronic back pain for a decade and have seen nearly a dozen doctors. None of them were able to control my pain and most of them were not pleasant. I have had four doctors blame me for my pain, several others who talked down to me, and finally one who said there was no hope for my case and I should just be resigned to being a cripple. Some even treated me like a drug-seeking addict even though I told them that I don't prefer medication unless absolutely necessary! I used to have anxiety attacks whenever I had to see my pain management physician because of the horrible experiences. Now, I never do; I actually look forward to my appointments because I know I will feel better after the injections. The office is lovely, clean, and comfortable. The billing office always calls me to tell me what my copay is BEFORE my procedures and I never have any billing issues. I have read some bad reviews of Dr's. Nini and Lee here on Yelp, and I am sorry for those patient's troubles, but I am NOT a paid reviewer and rarely leave reviews at all. I am a 75 year old equestrian woman. I was hurt badly in a horse accident, my neck was in constant pain. I saw other doctors at Cedars, but they literally threw up their hands and walked away from me, saying that they couldn't help me. Finally one doctor recommended Dr. Nini. I have been his patient for over 2 years. During that time, I've had a number of injections and nerve burns. LIttle by little, I have recovered. Almost no neck pain, and am able to ride horses again. Didn't even know what was wrong in order to do that! Finally ordered me MRI- OF WRONG area of my body. Did not return to see him, he is a horrible doctor. NOW, I'm dealing with insurance issues because he told them I sprained my back...interesting, because 1. I didn't and 2. He never told me that! Dec. 2016 I am a patient of Dr. Nini in Los Angeles with Cedars Sinai pain management Dept. I came to him after disappointing results with another Dr. I had sever pain due to slipped vertebra L4 and L5 and had been spending most of my time laying down. After checking my MRI and doing a nerve conduction test he explained my options which were limited. Due to my age and osteoporosis surgery did not seem to be a viable option. He explained that they would try to reduce the inflammation with injections. These did not work so my last option was ablation-interrupting the pain signals from my facets to the brain. For every procedure I was put under light sedation. It is now a few weeks after the left and right sides were done (each on about a week apart.) The pain is been reduced 99%. It is not permanent and may have to be repeated but that is alright with me. Dr. Nini explained everything to me and my husband and daughter, with the MRI showing the exact problem. He and his staff have been caring and responsive every time I needed something. I never wait for my appointments I am on time and so is he. Went to Dr. Nini because he was taking the place of my other pain Dr. to left. I was coming back because after 4 steroid shots, and no let of of the pain I endured for two years in my legs at night, i was so frustrated. Dr. Nini simply changed my dosage of Gababentin and overnight, I was relieved of 90% of this pain and able to rest at night. 4 Doctors at Cedars Spinal Institute diagnosed me and nothing worked and all it took was one visit to Dr Nini.. I am a 65-year-old guy who lives here in Los Angeles, and has for 30 years. I have some chronic back issues which are well-managed through a variety of care, but once in a while I need some intervention for the pain while the underlying causes are worked through. Also, I recently had an injury to my tailbone and was unable to sit down without setting off spasms. Dr. NiNi was recommended to me by two very different doctors - - one a top spine surgeon here in LA for the chronic issues, and the other a chiropractor who also works in alternative medicine techniques, for the injury. That two men with such different underlying philosophies would recommend the same person got my attention. And now, having seen Dr. NiNi for both, I completely understand why they did. I have found him to be a first-rate doctor, and a caring, first-rate man. He is a fast-paced, busy and very energetic man. But when he is in the room with me, I always feel he is completely "there", focused completely on me and my issue, and listening carefully to what I say. I try to do my part by being prepared, and listening to what he has to say, even if it's not necessarily what I wanted to hear. He talks to me as if I am a responsible, intelligent adult who wants to, and is capable of, participating in his own care. Which I like to think is true :-) He starts conservatively, and works forward from there. That can be disappointing if you're in pain and want to feel better Right Now - - but I understand why he does it. For example, with my tailbone injury he told me he could give me some shots that would make probably make me feel better quickly - - but that if I had done enough damage to cause an infection, it could make things much worse later on. So he asked me to have a few tests done through my longtime general practitioner before he proceeded. Which I did, the test were negative, and he proceeded with the shots. When it was safe to do so. I read the other postings here on Yelp before writing mine. Some of the negative ones utterly perplex me, because they seem to be about an entirely different man than the one I have experienced. But this much I can say with absolute certainty - - there is no way in hell this man would ask anyone, or allow anyone, to post sham reviews on his behalf. That's not who he is. And besides, quite frankly I don't think he is Internet savvy enough to even think of it (sorry, Doc). I've got quite a few reviews here and there on Yelp, so you can check me out if you want to convince yourself I actually exist. We all have our own perspectives, and experiences by their very nature are highly subjective. But I am nobody's fool. I've had my share a crappy doctors, and I know the difference. I have been seeing Dr. Nini since fall of 2006 and couldn't be happier with his treatment! Having first suffered from a herniated disc in my neck, he provided sound advice about physical therapy and exercise that could help, as well he suggested doing an epidural that has since alleviated my pain entirely! Now also suffering from disc issues in my lower back, I have continued to see him for treatment and today I am pain free! I find him to be engaging, honest and best of all, truly knowledgeable about the spine and the best non-invasive treatments. DO NOT see this dr!! I am currently sitting in the office waiting to see him(I've been waiting for over 30mins now) only spoke to the nurse for 30secs so far. This is my second appointment for my neck pain following a car wreck. She asked me why I'm here. I replied for an MRI of my neck after dr nini(if you can even call him a dr) told me to come back for one. She responded with "we don't do mri's here you'll need to make an appointment in a different dept for that". Well then you tell me why the hell I'm here!! They honestly made me come in to make an appointment with another dept?!?! Dr nini already knew from my first appointment that I will be going away until next year and had to have everything done before so my insurance would cover it and knowing I'm on a tight time frame he still made me waste a week (between my 1st appointment and this one) when the MRI could have been done then. Not only has this dr been absolutely ZERO help in diagnosing my neck problems he has also wasted all my time and money on appointments where all he did was push pain relieving injections on me and try and convince me I need more muscle relaxer meds! I DONT want meds I want a damn diagnoses and/ or treatment!!! He definitely should not be allowed to practice medicine he is a disgrace to the title doctor!! STAY AWAY!!!!! The one star is for the nurse I forget her name, the blonde hair lady with the southern twang- she is an absolute angel and is clearly used to running around like a poor headless chicken dealing and making up for dr nini's f**kups.
