I had been suffering from severe pain after a breaking my back and the operation that followed. We're talking years of the unbearable. It also meant years of searching for someone, anyone, who could fix me. Enter Dr. Lee. First thing I noticed was that he was actually listening to me. Who knew? He asked questions I had never been asked before. His game plan plenty of diagnostic tests, which proved me to a good candidate for a lumbar procedure. Voila! All of my back pain was eliminated, and I do mean all. I could do things I could not do for the past 4 years. Watch me pick up socks from the floor! Watch me stand and sit up straight! Watch me impress everyone with my new-found flexibility. All thanks to Dr. Lee and his wonderful colleague, Elizabeth. I could rave on and on, but I've already done that. Besides, I have things to do. Hello life, good to see you again.

I'm glad I googled to find where he moved his practice to, and luckily it's still close by. I wanted to go back to Dr. Lee because he addressed my pain and he's not treating pain management like a "pill mill". I prefer a proactive approach to medicine, so that's why I sought him out again. Google maps sent me to an old address, make sure you go to the building that's adjacent to Cal-State Fullerton NOT the old building by St. Jude. It took me a while to find this on google, but hopefully, it'll help others--here's a link to him under his new group: https://fcpporangecounty.com/bios/david-lee/

What surprised me even more this time was how much better the office experience has become. His front staff and back staff are easily 200% better than my first visit years ago. Everyone was professional, friendly, organized, and actually cared about helping patients. Last month, I went to another pain management doctor because Yelp made it seem like Dr. Nini's office was only in Fullerton and not Los Angeles. That doctor refused to even try trigger point injections and immediately pushed me toward an epidural. I didn't really want one, but I was desperate for relief at the time, so I went through with it. The very first thing Dr. Nini said when he examined me was that he wanted to try trigger point injections first before considering any epidural treatment. That instantly told me he was actually listening to my concerns instead of rushing me into procedures. I received the trigger point injections today and already feel hopeful again. Awesome pain management doctor, excellent staff, and still someone who genuinely tries to help his patients instead of taking the "one size fits all" approach. Highly recommended. Next week, he referred me to get nerve conduction studies to rule out a pinched nerve. Hands down BEST PM Doctor in LA!!!

The foraminal injections are kind of tricky because they are on the side--but he doesn't do the back which is much easier for me. I've tried various PTs through my insurance, but this is the first time I invested in PT out of…read morepocket, and it was absolutely worth it. I felt like my body was twisted and unbalanced, but the PTs covered by my insurance weren't able to help me until the issue I had been expressing eventually led to a severe injury where I couldn't walk for about five days. The PTs would give me exercises that I could have easily found through ChatGPT or a simple Google search, and then send me to an aide. When I had questions, the aides often didn't know the answers. They gave me A LOT of at home exercises, almost a quantity over quality, hoping one works. Then I found Dr. Gary! He is very different from a typical PT. He listens carefully to all of my issues (pain and discomfort seemingly everywhere. I'm sure I sound like a hypochondriac ), and then gives me some really odd exercises that I would never have found on my own. Somehow, I always feel better afterward. He goes all the way down to the basics, even teaching me how to breathe to properly engage my core, when to breathe during an exercise, and exactly where I should be feeling each movement. It's not just "here are some exercises, go do them." He makes sure I understand why I'm doing them and what I should be feeling. He also consistently remembers to send me my homework, often with videos. With the other PTs I tried, I had to repeatedly hunt them down to get my exercises, so I ended up having to rely on memory. Dr. Gary also responds to my questions between sessions if I'm unsure about an exercise, which has been incredibly helpful in making sure I'm doing things correctly. What I appreciate most is how much he genuinely cares about learning and thinking critically. I can tell he is constantly processing what he's seeing and what I'm telling him during our sessions and trying to figure out the root cause of what's going on. He tests and retests his hypotheses until my body gives him feedback that he's on the right track. I'm incredibly thankful for Dr. Gary and the care he puts into his work. If you're dealing with something that feels "off" in your body, I truly believe your health is worth the investment. Don't wait until the problem becomes a serious injury like I did because of the limitations of the insurance system. Take the chance! you may be surprised by how much the right PT can help. Dr. Gary is absolutely worth it!

From the very first visit, I could tell they understand (and cared) about all things movement. The staff is patient, polite and gentle in a way that made a very big difference for me when I started my recovery journey. Their guidance felt honest--there was zero pressure. I've been through a few physical therapy and rehab centers, and what gets me is how super frustrating it can be to relearn things that once felt automatic. The team here met me exactly where I was at, which meant more to me than I can put into words--especially during a pretty tough recovery. For me it was worth booking a handful of sessions to take advantage of the discounts. Overall, I'm grateful for the treament I've received. Highly recommend if you're looking for physical therapy that feels both personal and is effective.

I decided to look into other options and did a search for places I could pay out of pocket. When I lived in Mexico, I had been using the services at a local hospital, paying a monthly membership fee for their services so imagine my surprise when I found out that the exact same system existed here. That was when I found Dr. Marisse so I booked an appointment. I found her originally on Zocdoc and the nearest appointment was in a month and a half. Within a day of making the appointment, I was called by the office to Nurse Shawna who wanted to make sure that I knew that all appointments needed a preliminary chat with the Doc, after which I could book my appointment. thanked me for letting her know that the next available appointment was that far away. It turned out there was a mix-up and that she did have more immediate appointments available. There is plenty of parking, as it is in shared parking lot with other businesses. However, there are two buildings with the same building number but with different locale numbers. Upper Echelon is in the building nearest to the AAA and the Farmer Boys. At the appointment, everything was clearly explained and we went over a sort of plan of attack, with regards to my concerns and what I needed to do. I appreciated paying less per month for the membership, which includes as many appointments as you want. The lab work and the tests are at wholesale prices so even with the membership fee and registration, all of this was cheaper than the plan I was going to get with insurance. What I appreciated was the quickness of getting an appointment. I have always hated waiting a few weeks, as a new patient, before actually being seen but I was able to book this within a week of the appointment. It was a week because their availability interfered with my work hours. Otherwise, I would have been seen earlier. All in all, it is pretty convenient and a wallet-friendly option. After that first appointment and the lab results came in, Dr. Marisse wrote a VERY long email detailing every point of concern. Which I appreciated because I went for answers and I was getting them. If you need a straightforward person to tell you what you need to be doing and not someone who has to be on your ass every step of the way, this is the ideal option. I would say the ONLY con is that they do not have appointments during the weekends. And since I work during the week, I have to take time off to go to an appointment.

Their professionalism, compassion, and positive attitudes truly made a difference and turned what could have been a stressful visit into a great experience. It's rare to find a medical office where you feel genuinely cared for, and Shawna and Karla exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Upper Echelon Medical Office to anyone looking for quality care and exceptional customer service. Thank you both for making my visit such a positive one! Dr. Marisse is truly one of the best doctors I've ever had. She explains everything clearly, never makes you feel rushed, and always makes you feel like your health and well-being are her top priority. Her professionalism and caring attitude give me complete confidence in the care I receive. I highly recommend Dr. Marisse to anyone looking for an exceptional physician.
