Finally after driving by for weeks we made it in for a quick lunch. Will not do that again. Service was very poor, only came once for ordering and once to drop food off. After ordering we waited 50 min for our food and when it came it was cold and just tasted like some bad home made recipe. Steak was dry so much that you could not even cut it. The side toast we never got but we're charged, when we told them to take it off they insisted they could not but would give us the bread in a to go container. Fast friendly service! Had the meatloaf large portions outstanding flavor. Wife had BLT with fries all was very good. Son had the chili burger vary dig which the 30 year old could not "destroy". Was very disappointed this morning going to the diner. My family and I wanted breakfast but didn't really want to go to Cracker Barrel. We walk in and a guy said just a minute and that was fine. There was two people working and bringing out food. There was quite a few tables open. The food was delivered to the table and we thought ok, we will be seated now. But no! The guy started cleaning a table so we thought again ok, now we will be seated, but again No. He went to the end of the counter and asked them if they wanted something else to drink. The woman was still helping other people. Three times going back and forth in front of us. We decided to leave, we took it that they didn't want our business. It would have been simple to have just said take a seat anywhere and we will get to you. But the guy wanted to argue that he said just a minute. Just a minute is cleaning a table or getting food out to people. But it doesn't mean multi tasking and leaving customers at the door. And you don't argue with the customer if you truly want their business. With inflation and everything more expensive treat your customers with respect. It will be awhile before I will want to go back there even though there breakfast is great but service is very lacking. read more

I'm a huge supporter of small family owned businesses, but Route 66 Diner was a complete letdown. My family and I ate there this morning and were let down by nearly every aspect. We've driven past countless times and always wondered why there weren't more cars in the parking lot. Today we found out why, when we had breakfast there. From the moment we walked in the door, the place felt dirty, poorly lit, small, and outdated. Our waiter had the stereotypical "meth mouth", but was relatively nice regardless. My wife and I each had the Denver omelette. Disappointing. My wife's comment was that our kids could make better omelettes. There was zero flavor and they were poorly prepared. The hash browns were equally as bad. The pancakes were thin and white? Like instant mix pancakes. I took one bite of my biscuit. Disappointing as well. I couldn't stomach to finish my plate of food. We got out as quickly as we could and drove through McDonalds. While waiting in the drive thru there, my stomach churned. By the time we got back to our house, 3 of the 4 of us, had diarrhea from the terrible food at Route 66 Diner. If someone wanted to take pride in a true 50's diner along Route 66, they should visit this place, to learn what NOT to do. read more

Nothing like eating at an old Rt 66 diner. Not many of these places left on the route. I had a bbq burger and it looks and tastes so good. Old music playing in the background can't be beat. I highly recommend it and will stop in again on my next road trip. read more

I should have walked out-- but after a long day this diner was next to my hotel and I was hungry. My daughter and I were promptly seated but we were told someone else would be helping us. Finally waitress took our order. A family of four people were sat after us, and got their appetizer and food before we did. I said something to my daughter and our waitress overheard me. Our food had been sitting in the pick up window all that time. It was no longer hot but warm. She delivered the food and walked away. I realized we didn't have silverware. I asked for for some, and she brought one set and began to walk away. I then had to ask for a second set- (we ordered two meals). She cashed out another customers ticket after we had gotten our food and gave him extra money. She realized it after he left. She spoke to other waitress about what happened and how people aren't honest. She went on and on and there were 5 tables of people listening to her. She then notices he is outside but says she will not confront him and the other waitress says she will...they continue to talk about this the entire meal. It was quiet and everyone could hear their conversation, so much for tactfulness. Food was lukewarm, edible at best. Diner was filthy, and customer service was a ZERO. First, and last visit to this place. Really sad because the Route 66 Diner could and should be a great place. read more

We've eaten here a couple times already and our service has been excellent. Food is delicious and the environment encompassing the nostalgia of a old fashioned diner. Do not go here. First off, the food is soaked in grease. Like, DRENCHED. Then, my boyfriend found a huge hair in his sandwich. Waitress took it off the bill but didn't really seem to care. I had the French Dip and it wasn't bad, but nothing to write home about. Daughters chicken nuggets weren't dinosaur like it said on the menu, and they were gross and didn't seem like they were cooked all the way through. The view of the kitchen was not that appealing as I could see how much needs a cleaning. My kids had the French toast which they enjoyed. I had the cheese burger which I felt lacked flavor and seasoning. The serving size is large but lacked in good flavor. This was the worse food I ever ate. My fries came out so black and greasy like the fryer have never been cleaned. Fish still had scales on it. Chili tasted burnt like it sat all day and just kept cooking. . Service would have been ok if there was more than one waitress for the entire diner. And she also had to cash people out . Passing through with the family on a trip from Texas to Michigan and thought we would stop off here on the way back. We were a little leery after reading the reviews, Not sure what everyone was complaining about in the reviews. I really didn't think it was that dirty, the floor could have used some attention but had I not read the reviews I probably would not have noticed. The service was amazing. Our waitress was fantastic and very patient with our large family even after spilling ranch all over the ground. I wish I could remember her name but I don't. The food was actually really good and there serving sizes were enough for 2 people. You may want to consider splitting. We had a the chicken strips, chili burger and several breakfast items, all were really good. To wrap up we went for dessert. The shakes were creamy smooth and delicious. The pie and cheese cake however were not. The pie was obviously frozen. Overall a pleasant experience. We wold love to stop here again! read more

Although the staff was friendly and understanding... If I can leave zero stars for this place I would. For starters, there were 2 men working the kitchen. One of them was cooking and wearing gloves. The other had no gloves on. I watched him place his bare hands on people's food after touching raw pork. Let me elaborate, he wasn't just moving food around on a plate, he completely "palmed" a few sausage links in his bare hands and placed them on someone's plate. I watched him do this 4 or maybe 5 times in a row before I completely lost my appetite. This man operated as if this was common practice. I politely cancelled my order expressed my grievance and offered to pay for the coffee in which I was drinking. The staff told me not to worry about the coffee and they apologized sincerely. Great place to get any meal in St Robert. Food and staff were both exceptional. The menu offers a grilled buffalo chicken sandwich, but I asked if it could be breaded and fried and they didn't have a problem with this at all. Also, it was a great crispy buffalo chicken sandwich. We've been to the diner several times. I always give restaurants the benefit of the doubt. The first time my husband and I walked in and the cook seen us he rolled his eyes and made a motion like he didn't want us there. I figured he was having a bad day so I let it slide. We returned 03/01/2020 and as soon as we walked in the door and the cook seen us he did the same thing. We turned around and walked out and went to Cracker Barrel. I rarely ever have issues with a location but this was way to bad to not post a review. I sat for 15 min before my order was taken and when I asked if there was sugar, the waitress told me to go looking around for some, once I couldn't find any on any of the other tables, the second waitress went and refilled a jar for me. I ordered my food which took another 30 mins to make and then watched it sit in the window of the kitchen for about 10. I was so hungry that when I finally got it I scarfed it down and realized I didn't get my toast. The. I stayed another 15 trying to get the check. All the while people were coming in and having to go through the same. The bad part was that they weren't even half full on occupancy!! The Route 66 Diner was pretty good. We stopped in here after a ceremony at Fort Leonard Wood. It definitely has the nostalgic diner feel. Jukebox, black-and-white checker floor, bright chrome finish on the outside. And they serve breakfast all day! There were 11 of us and I think we overwhelmed the waitress, who appeared to be the only one on duty at the time (2:00 PM), which probably added to her frustration. The food came to the table fairly quickly after ordering and was pretty good. Fries were homemade. I had the Philly Steak, which was a little dry, but some extra cheese would have fixed the problem. Most everyone had large portions for a good price. Even the kids items had more than I expected. Decent restaurant for the area if you want to skip the chain restaurants. read more
