I'm always looking for someplace new and local and this place sure didn't disappoint it's hidden away off Main Street in small strip mall and so look for it. The menu is posted on the wall and your order then bring to table. I had the 1/4 pound BBQ burger and fries which was grilled perfectly and loaded with cheese, bbq sauce , lettuce and a crispy onion ring on Texas toast which was large enough to share.the other side of the restaurant is a taco/ Mexican restaurant and it smelled delicious so just another option for you . read more

Really awesome find for somebody who is not a local and just passing through town. Stopped in today with my wife as we are moving from coast to coast. Scruff's is pretty new, established in 2021, and the interior is small but it looks nice. It shares a space with the American Taco Company just next door as well so there is plenty of room to sit, but each restaurant has their own style which is pretty cool. Okay, so for food - I'm eating pescatarian right now, and noticed they do have a veggie burger, which is great for the non-meat eaters but I had the flounder fish sandwich and my wife had the bing bong shrimp basket. Both were awesome. The fish was perfectly fried, great bun, pickles and shredded lettuce and slice of cheese as well. A really awesome kind of ranch dipping sauce where I believed I detected some notes of dill which was really nice and ultimately used that to dip my fries in more so then the ketchup. And the fries? Perfectly crispy, well salted, just really nice. My wife kindly let me try a piece of her shrimp and fries with the sauce which is kind of sweet but not overly so. Anyway, really hit the spot. The gentleman who took our order (not sure if it was Scruffy or not) was super nice as well, and it's the small things you pick up on too. He brought out my wife's shrimp basket but went and got her a fork for it while she was taking pictures. This place is definitely a must-visit in Rolla! read more

I ate here with my mom while visiting town. My burger was super good. The owners have both Scruff's and American Taco Shop and they're connected. I'd like to try Taco Shop next, because it looked good and was popular too. Cool decor on the walls. Not positive, but pretty sure it's veteran-owned. Cool spot, lots of food options between Scruff's and the Taco Shop. People who worked there were super nice and knowledgeable. Both sides of the restaurant were pretty full, so during high-traffic times seating might be limited. Also, overall parking was a bit limited, but not bad enough to keep me from returning! read more

Service was nice Cold as a mug up in there so I was terribly uncomfortable the entire time. Food took a bit long to come out (10mins) the price was crazy high for the amount of food I got. 1/4lb burger loaded fries and a drink was 18$ and I was still sort of hungry after. So for that price I should be full and I'm not a big guy. 5'8 175lbs. But the main complaint wa arhat the food really had very little to no flavor. Went to Scruff's Grill for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Scruff's Grill is attached to the American Taco Company so if you have a group that has trouble deciding what to eat this spot may be a great option. I ordered the Scruff's Classic which comes in either a 1/4 lb or 1/2 lb size. I went with the 1/2 lb size. The burgers are smash burgers so I believe there were 3 burgers on my 1/2 lb sandwich. The smash burgers had crispy edges but were not dry at all. The fries along with their house-made ranch were also really good. My only downsides were the price. ~$40 for 2 burgers and drinks and the fact they they didn't offer water free of charge and you had to purchase bottled water. read more

I am not exaggerating when I say this was the best burger I have ever had. I had the melt, and was DELICIOUS. The fries were fantastic as well, as was their tea. They brew it there rather than the pump stuff. My youngest ordered chicken tenders. It seemed to be like a chicken fried steak sliced up. He LOVED that. I tasted it, and it was really good, but that would be something someone might want to know before ordering in case they are more into the thicker tenders. We all LOVED our meals! We were on vacation to Fugitive Beach and Googled the best dinner in town. It was between this restaurant and one other place. I believe we absolutely made a great choice! read more

Visited Rolla this week and my 8 year old daughter was with me. I asked her what she wanted to eat and she said a chicken sandwich. I plugged in chicken sandwich in my yelp app and up popped Scruff's Diner. We headed over and she ordered what she wanted and I ordered a half pound smash burger and we were not disappointed. Food came out piping hot and was absolutely best burger I'd had in a minute. Daughter liked her chicken sandwich as well. Three of us in my party had a burger bowl. We all loved it! The beef was so tasty, cooked to perfection on a generous bed of iceberg lettuce with small bites of tomato and pickle! Topped with their homemade ranch. They are very generous with their ranch. Mmmm.... Every bite super yummy. We all ordered the homemade ranch dressing on the side and must have received at least 4 T each. The little one ordered mini corn dogs and she cleaned her plate! We are traveling through & used Yelp to find lunch. This grill has a Taco diner & bakery within the same building! We had pretzel bites $ Burger salad. The food was delicious! Very tempting to try Taco diner too as all dishes made there looked good too! The bakery had cupcakes of any variety you could possibly want to eat! The grill does a great business. You order at the counter, they give you a number, you find a seat & they deliver to you. We didn't order drinks, if you do they will give you a cup & you fill your own at the soda machine. What a pleasant surprise! We were traveling through Rolla on our way home and came across this restaurant. We always like to try small local businesses and Scruff's did not disappoint. I called ahead to see if the had gluten free options and talked with the owner. He assured me they had options...and he wasn't kidding! When we got there my husband was able to order from the regular menu and I was able to order what I wanted and have it be gluten free. Burgers were delicious and the gluten free bun was unlike many of the other dry buns I have had. It was really good. They also had a dedicated fryer so my French fries were delicious and gluten free! The gluten feee shrimp was delicious too! Just the right amount of flavor and spice. Friendly owner. Delicious food. Generous helpings. This is a hamburger joint with a hard rock slant. There's also a burrito place attached, so you have options. I had a burger without the bun due to my gluten issues, but my travel companions tried the hotdog and the hot chicken sandwich. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
