It's REALLY creamy, and totally fresh. I actually think they beat Richardson's, for flavor and value. Plus, it's a great destination, if you bring some friends out from Boston on a motorcycle ride. The soft-serve is great, and what I usually get. No ice crystals, and creamy for low-fat. They've got lots of frozen yogurt, too. Hey, give the folks some credit. Dairy farming in Massachusetts is dying. I think it's awful for all of us, from an ecological and quality stance, and a quality of life perspective. Here's someone who is fighting back, and providing a great product, to boot. What's so Freaking wrong with that? Rota's has the best ice cream I have ever eaten in my entire life, and I am not exaggerating. It truly is the BEST. It's so rich and creamy and absolutely delicious that you'll want to order a second helping. They have so many flavors to choose from. I'm a chocolate lover, so I go for the Chocolate Chocolate Chip Crunch flavor, which is chocolate ice cream with brownie bits and chunks of chocolate. Let me tell you, it is to die for! They also have soft-serve and mix-in flurries, which are amazing. I love the soft serve at Rota more than anywhere else. If you love ice cream, you'll want to try every flavor Rota has to offer. The portions are also huge, which is great! The service is equally kind and very efficient. Besides the ice cream, the location itself it wonderful. It's a beautiful drive off of route 110 to get to the farm, and it's built on a beautiful expanse of land with great views. Whilst some New England ice cream stands are becoming bigger and becoming not unlike the dreaded monotony of the plaza casual dining restaurant, Rota's remains unique with it's sole location atop Chace Hill. Of course, now, the secret is out...and with good reason. Many, many flavors including good old favorites and new creations which should be canonized as classics. Coconut Almond Bar, Grapenut, Coffee Oreo are my favorites but the list goes on. When you're done tasting them stock, mix and match them into endless sundae combos. About 30 people in line, many right on top of the party in front of them. I understand the business cannot control the behavior of its patrons. Came here just before Thanksgiving to do two things: 1) Eat ice cream. 2) See the goats in the back. Neither disappointed. I tried their pumpkin, Indian pudding, and blueberry ice creams. The blueberry was the best by far, super creamy and chock full of blueberry flavor. Very dense too. I loved it. Even the kiddie size is HUGE. Used to go here a lot when I lived in Boston. Yeah, Boston, a good 45-60 minute drive east of this place. And it was worth the drive every time ... From chocolate peanut butter to chocolate peanut butter cookie dough to the rest of the amazing creations available at Rota Springs, I was always impressed. Another good homemade ice cream place. The atmosphere is what makes this place cool and unique. You can see the cows grazing in the field and they are very cute. The ice cream is good, very rich and they have a lot of fun and different flavors. My personal favorite is purple cow and they do it good here. Pretty good regional ice cream shop. I tasted the Indian Pudding that my wife got which was unique but tasty. Not sure if I could eat an entire serving of that myself though. Ive grew up in sterling, even down the street and in this place is great... in the area you have your fair share of ice cream Rota-Springs, Sterling Ice Cream Bar, Kimballs in Lancaster, DQ, etc. Out of all of them I hate to say it Rota-Springs is 3rd place! Kimballs and Sterling Ice Cream Bar place before 'em. The selection is great there a little bit of everything, from chocolate to coconut, shakes to blended treats... the sizes are reasonable kiddie (1scoop), small(2), large(3). The only downfall is during the spring they are slow since they are training, and during the hot summers the field next door doesn't smell that great! Typically they need to open more windows during a busy night rather than three. In terms of food allergies I mentioned I have a allergy and the girl didn't know what to do, she was baffled. I played it safe and went with a simple flavor like strawberry rather than red velvet or some crazy blend. Also, cash or check only and the food isn't that great nothing special. Wow! Excellent! When I asked at work "What's a good place to go for ice cream near Clinton?" I was automatically told this place. Right on. My sister and I decided to go late in the evening. A little after 9 pm. Although it looked slow, they were still open scooping ice cream. I got the Butter Crunch and my sister got the new "Espresso Bean" which she said was good. I LOVED my ice cream. Store for grass fed beef and other food related items I haven't tried. We were able to go yesterday and all the seating areas were open. Visiting my brother out in middle-of-nowhere Massachusetts, he said we had to get some Rotas ice cream. Now, I'm no ice cream afficionado by any means, but this was some of the creamiest, most delicious ice cream I've ever had. I could not believe the overwhelming variety of homemade flavors and eventually just had to close my eyes and point to one to stop holding up the line. Lady luck selected butter pecan for me this day and it was a wonderful choice. And as if being delicious wasn't enough, the serving size, even for a small, was incredibly generous and the price was remarkably low. I was treating my brother and his girlfriend and all three of us got a dish for under $10 total. Possibly the best part of this very hidden ice cream stand? Going out back to meet the makers of the delicious treats. No, I'm not talking about the kitchen staff. I'm talking about Bessie and all her other cow friends who wander the pasture out back. There's a nice "circle of life" feeling you get savoring the fruits of their labor as they chew their cud beside you. That said, I would not be going to a slaughterhouse to enjoy my next steak. Went here many times for their delicious ice cream...you gotta try a hot fudge sundae with cookies and cream ice cream hot fudge peanut butter sauce whip cream and chocolate sprinkles!!!! Amazinggg!!! When I decided to get my boyfriend his b day cake there I was amazed!! Big cake is thick and feeds 14-16 people!! I got regular vanilla chocolate which they have available everyday!!! But call 2 days ahead and you can get any flavor in the cake!! Boyfriends sister got one with chocolate and mint chocolate chip!! Very good!!! Rota Springs is a dairy that has home made ice cream. They are always adding new flavors, and their service and ice cream are excellent. They are located in a nice quiet rural area with a great view of the cows. They have outdoor seating with a covered area in case of rain. Now they are selling their own grass fed beef in their store. Rota Springs also has hot dogs and other food items so it's a great place for lunch or dinner also. They only accept checks or cash. Its a great place for summer ice cream! read more

Even if you don't like ice cream, the drive to Rota Springs alone is worth the trip. Nestled away in a rural section of MA, the views are spectacular. The farm itself is gorgeous as well, with sprawling green hills filled with cows grazing and birds chirpin'! They even have sugar-free ice cream, my boyfriend's mom doesn't eat sugar and she said it was delicious (she was not convinced it was sugar free - cause it was too darn good!) Overall, not much you can say about ice cream. It's delicious, creamy, and the best I've had. Also, the portions are HUGE! The kiddie is enough for an adult for sure. Rota Springs also has an adorable little farm store next to the ice cream window. They sell a bunch of knick-knacks, kitchen tools, t-shirts, and hats. My family loves Rota Spring and really not for the most obvious reason which is their ice cream! We love to go and see all the cows and their new babies. It's mid summer now and we've watched them grow up so much in the past month. I'm vegan so I never get anything there but my family does and they love it! They also have a cute little farm store attached to the building with fresh veggies and fruit and a bunch of canned stuff that they have made.
