As I drive 30 minutes each time to get here it's disappointing they have the machines shut down 2-3 hours before closing. Craving a soft serve cone. I've had one at Coco's a few years back. I ordered a vanilla cone. First of all it was $5.14! That's more than places who just do soft serve charge. It was an "off white " color and not as creamy as all the soft serve I've ever had. The boards of the menu are overwhelming with items and flavors. The most unfortunate part was that the cone was stale!! Maybe they don't sell a lot of cones but they should be checking for freshness. Here's my thought. Stuck to the true roots of Coco's, focus on the ices and maybe 3 kinds of soft serve, purchase a better base or use better milk/cream to make it. Hard ice cream offer less flavors. Clean up the board so I can see what I need to. I didn't see the prices. Lower the price! I expected around $4.25 never over $5! Phenomenal, adorable place! Fun and cozy vibe and the best treats around! Fantastic service and attentive staff! They have indoor and outdoor seating which is awesome . My favorites include the soft serve twist , chocolate ice cream,and the blue ice treat. They have carts and will go to your location or party . We always got the piña colada which we loved because of the flavor, how smooth it was and the pieces of pineapple and coconut throughout. They should change the name of the place as they dishonor the owners that retired. We got the piña colada like we always had but it was a bunch of flavorless ice. Today I visited CoCo's Tropical Ice in Auburn with my family. The girl who worked there was excellent. She was helpful, and patient with my kids. She didn't hesitate in offering to get my son samples of a few of their icee drinks. I got a Strawberry Smoothie. My son got their blue raspberry icee, and my daughter and fiancé got the Cotton Candy Soft Serve. It's decorated super fun with a jungle theme ; has board games for the kids to play while they cool off; and the customer service I received far exceeded anywhere I have been for ice cream this summer I would recommend CoCo's to anyone. The strip mall store front doesn't quite do justice to the wonders that lay beyond the door. Walking into CoCo's you are greeted with palm thatched canopies and a variety of tropical treats. I have a real soft spot for Italian ices. But I have to confess, that it's really just not the same for me when they aren't served in those pleated paper cups which generally disintegrate by the time you get to the end. However, those are hard to find these days, even in the pushcarts around NYC. The owner was incredibly patient with the indecisiveness of my family as they took their time figuring out what flavors to order (or if they were going to order anything at all). My choice was easy, having heard such good things about the pina colada. My daughter was offered a sample of the cotton candy flavor straight away, but she asked for a taste of cherry just to compare. My mother and son both went for mint chocolate chip. The tab for three minis and small was about $11. Of those three flavors, the pina colada was the best by far. I'm opposed to mint chip being green (and am not a fan of chips in water ice). And while the flavor of the cotton candy was true to the state fair confection, it's flavor out of a bottle. I'm looking forward to getting back in for the lemon, and the mango, and will keep my fingers crossed that one day they'll have a plain chocolate (my favorite flavor of them all). But given how convenient a stop this is off Route 90 on the way to or from Boston or Providence, I foresee many trips here in the future. Glad to have found it, and I'm glad they are so accommodating to those paralyzed by so many choices. read more

The woman who owns or manages the place is not a very nice person... I noticed the chip on her shoulder right away I tried to be extra nice to her cuz I felt sorry for her. I brought my kids there a few times and this past time I made a to-go order and when they started to make it, another employee took a phone order... the manager tried to tell her they had no more to go cups but she couldn't hear so they decided to give the to-go cups to the telephone order even though I ordered first. I nicely offered to purchase the display cup letting her know that I had a long ride and it was going to melt and be messy in my car, and the woman said no very rudely. I asked why because she could just replace it in the morning when she got new cups and she just said "because". There was no reason for her to be purposely unhelpful and it is always surprising when somebody behaves that way purposely making something more difficult than it needs to be... I guess misery loves company. It's a shame because they have good product It is very overpriced but it is tasty. They don't care about losing customers They have no problem being rude and unhelpful to the customers. Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. It's a family owned business, as far as one reviewer claiming rudeness, I have never experienced anything but smiles and free samples. Better than anything I've ever had as far as icy desserts, but I'm a lover of slush puppies, snow cones, etc. The cup sizes are deceiving, they put WAY more into the cups and they overflow with a huge mound that sits on top and over the cup. Flavors are amazing and so different. My husband and I's personal favorite is the gelati, which is the Italian Ice with soft serve Ice cream. Don't know if they make their own ice cream but its so tasty. They do make their own ices. I love the Patriot, which is cherry and blue raspberry with vanilla. Also, the chocolate covered cherry, mint chocolate chip (tastes just like the ice cream or maybe better! with real chocolate chips) and their most recent flavor, pumpkin pie! Definitely a recommendation, parking is plentiful and there is indoor and outdoor seating. The ambiance is great inside with Island music. They also have hot dogs, though I've never had one, and from talking with the owner they are going to start hot kettle soups in the winter. Plus they have old fashioned candies on the counter. Coco's is located just off Rte 12 in Auburn, a stone's throw from the Auburn Mall. They serve a bunch of different flavors of Italian ice and "gelati," which is actually a mixture of ice cream and Italian ice served in a paper cup. The menu of flavorsis extensive and very creative, with fun choices like "purple cow" and "patriot(blue raspberry and cherry)" among them. Donna, the proprietor, was happy to give my girlfriend's kids free samples of a number of the flavors to help them decide. It wasn't very busy when we went, so I dont know how patient shed have been with this if there'd been a line waiting behind us. You end up with a lot for your dollar, as paper cups of the sizes they're using hold plenty of ice cream. All in all, though,, I like real ice cream better than the mixture served at Coco's. Still, everyone was happy, the bill was just fifteen bucks for five s all gelati, and this place is worth a visit. read more

There truly is something for everyone here. Donna is always thinking about what people might be allergic to, and so she had several flavors that are either dairy free, gluten free, high fructose corn syrup free, or a combination of those. She even has one dye free flavor that is occasionally available! The ices are delicious and fresh, and the service is friendly and not at all rushed. There are all kinds of games available if you want to have a little fun while you enjoy your ice, or you can sit at the outside tables and enjoy the sunshine.
