I was afraid I was late for lunch. I was greeted with a smile and told to seat wherever I liked. Three other tables were already taken. I was hungry do I ordered the beef burrito plate. It was a massive plate presented in typical Mexican fashion with rice, beans, crema and sauces. The meat was not the typical cooked ground beef but rather a large portion of perfectly seasoned roast beef chunks with other stuffings. I was asked if I wanted a go box and I said sure. Every time I was about to put was left into the go box I convinced myself I better have just one more bite. In the end I had nothing left to take home. Really a great experience. Best carnitas taco salad I've ever had! Don't let the photo fool you, underneath the top layer you'll find a bowl loaded with the juiciest tender carnitas you've ever had. We went to Rosie's for my birthday dinner. The room is small and the walls are painted nicely. The actual tables and chairs don't fit in. The waitress was very friendly and was doing great on a busy Friday evening. The shrimp entree was amazing. I got the mojo de ajo camarones and they were so flavorful. The flavors were authentic! The taco entree price seemed a little steep, however lots of meat and great portions. Would definitely go back. read more

This is a long overdue review on the drinks and hospitality. We were on a long drive heading to Gardnerville when the fuel pump went out on our SUV. We got stranded on the road right across from Rosie's. After waiting for over an hour for a tow truck I had to use the bathroom so we went over to Rosie's. The open sign was no longer on but there were lots of people inside. I knocked on the door and a gentleman let me in. I told him what was going on and asked if I could use the restroom. That's when Rosie herself came over and I gave her my story. She was so kind and welcomed my boyfriend and I in. I used the restroom and got a call from the towing company that it would be another hour until they arrived. Not only did Rosie insist that we wait inside she made me a delicious strawberry margarita on the house. While waiting there we met Rosie's brother in law and learned the love story of how Rosie and her husband met. Everyone inside was so nice and it reminded me that there are still good people in the world. Next time were passing through we are definitely going to stop and eat. First time stopping here on our way home from AZ. We will be back. The food was excellent. My husband is a chips and salsa guy and would have been satisfied just having that for dinner. It's hit and miss here. Some days the food is fantastic and other days the food is not that good or over seasoned with salt. It really depends who is running the kitchen and when. Same with the service...some days great service and other days mediocre service that borders on unprofessional. The key is to figure out the manning schedule to determine the best time to show up. read more

What a find! We Yelped this place on a drive from Mammoth to Lake Tahoe and thought it looked very authentic, so worth the slightly longer drive. It was even more authentic than we could have imagined! The servers speak Spanish (I tried hard to play along, based on my high-school level fluency) and the plates are gigantic and delicious. My wife and I each ordered a plate (she got the enchilada/tostada combo and I got a burrito). To be honest, we could have split one plate and been full. They were so huge, but also really hit the spot during a week of hiking, altitude, and generally burning lots of calories. Chips and salsa were complimentary. The place is also full of charm. It doesn't look like much on the side of a highway in a desert. But the inside is colorful and decorative and they have a really nice outdoor patio area. They also take credit/debit cards. read more

We decided to "take a ride" from Bridgeport Reservoir on the back road to find "Rosies". The drive itself was worth it! When we got to "Rosies" we were greeted by a really sweet young lady who took care of us for our dinner. Chips and salsa were very good. Margaritas also tasty (blended) and refreshing. We wanted to take a look around Wellington and I decided to see if there was a place to stop for a late lunch. I saw some good reviews for Rosie's and wondered if they were accurate. I'm glad to report that the good reviews were spot on! The only person working at the time was Rosie herself! The first GOOD SIGN was how delicious and fresh the salsa tasted- I had enchiladas and my Gf had chile verde'. Both delicious and really well flavored-we had tried another Mexican restaurant in Carson City and there was no comparison! We had micheladas and they were also tasty! Absolutely fantastic Mexica food! I was born in Southern California and spent my entire childhood there. Most of my friends as a kid were Latino so I would spend some days after school eating at my friend's houses and the ambiance reminds of some of my friends houses! Rosie's was ok. I appreciate her feeding us between 2pm-5pm, maybe she saw my Calif lic plate. She wished us a safe drive too which was nice. Salsa was good. Service was quick and the young lady was so sweet. All the food was fresh and hot. Carnitas burrito was ok. Beans were ok. Rice was fresh. They serve chips cold (not heated) which is ok, just an FYI. I'd pass on the carne Asada burrito. Good parking. Good RV parking. I think some quiet mariachi music would be fun. Maybe they play music during the regular hours. read more

So I am from the Bay Area and I have been to a lot of Mexican places. This place is fab! Try the... anything. I had the garlic shrimp. It was recommended and I recommend it too! Hours. Door says breakfast 7 - 11 lunch 11 -3 and dinner 4 - 8 but we walked in at 8 and were seated and then some other people walked in at 8:30 and were seated. So give it a go even if you aren't sure. read more

Reading some of the other reviews was amusing. 2 complaints about the Mexican food not being as authentic as in California. Rosie is from Mexico, and she is always cooking! Doesn't get more authentic than that. Rosie's is a must stop for us whenever we're in Wellington, or on our way further out east. The food is excellent, the service is good, and Rosie is a hoot! It ain't fancy, there aren't any mariachi bands (thank goodness) just a friendly, comfortable place to get a good meal and chat with the locals if you are so inclined.
