Rosebud's Cafe is a gem of a find for breakfast in the Foothills. Family-run, the establishment is cute, quaint, friendly, and most importantly, the site of amazing food. We started off our meal with an order of the cafe's clssic beignets that were out of this world! We followed that up with a breakfast burrito and quiche -- both were large and fantastic. We had great conversations with both the mother and son who run the establishment, providing an atmosphere that was almost like eating at home. We can't wait to go back!

What a gem this business (and the people inside it) are!! We had breakfast here...a very nice breakfast sandwich and a piece of home made apple pie that was maybe the best I've ever had in my 67 years! Seriously that good. Super community oriented business!!

This place is so cozy and magical inside! We came in for beignets and warm drinks and it was all amazing... some of the best beignets I've had! I'd looove to come back to try more of their yummy looking food! Excellent people working here to...such a great vibe!

Rosebuds is one of my favorite spots for breakfast and brunch. Everything is made with farm-to-table care, and all of their breads are baked in-house, which is incredible! The café is run by a local family and has been a beloved Jackson staple for decades. There's a personal touch in everything: from the decor that reflects Irish heritage to the visible support for the LGBTQ+ community. When I used to work in the Jackson schools, many LGBTQ+ students shared that Rosebuds was where they felt most accepted. It became a safe and welcoming place for them. So thank you, Rosebuds, for being such a meaningful part of Amador County. Your presence matters. It's also a great spot for all kinds of eaters- whether you're vegan, vegetarian, or a meat lover, there's something thoughtfully crafted for everyone. Now let's talk about the delicious food! Definitely try the beignets, as they're one of the highlights. I also love the little details, like the strawberry-infused water, and the fresh selection of scones at the counter. As someone who adores a classic breakfast, I usually go for eggs, spuds, and toast, plus a glass of their freshly squeezed orange juice. Everything is made with such care. If you're looking for a clean, lively, warm, and inclusive space that serves delicious food and excellent desserts, give Rosebuds a try. You just might leave with a full heart, and maybe even a new friend. :)

A Pleasant Surprise with a Small-Town Feel…read more This one caught me off guard--in a good way. I was out with my family practicing for my daughter's driving test at the DMV up the street. We pulled up Yelp to find a good lunch spot, saw the solid reviews, and decided to give it a try. When we walked in, the atmosphere had that small-town vibe--simple, welcoming, and comfortable. The food was very good. The service wasn't polished like a Michelin star restaurant, but it didn't need to be. It was authentic and heartfelt, and sometimes that matters more. You could tell the staff cared about what they were doing. The place was busy, especially for the time of day we went, which tells you something. People come here on purpose. That says a lot. We were seated quickly, our order was taken without any issues, and the food came out in a reasonable time. When it hit the table, the portions were generous and satisfying. I wish I had taken pictures, but I was too busy enjoying the moment. If you go, post your photos--I'm sure the business would appreciate it. If you've followed my reviews, you know I don't give out 4 stars often, and 5 stars are rare. This place earned that extra star because of how it made me feel--between the food, the atmosphere, and the service, it just worked. If I'm ever back in the area, I'm definitely coming back for another meal.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that... it just wasn't what I was looking for. We did buy some frozen steaks. I honestly felt like a kid in a candy store, except it was all about getting meats to cook at home. When I walked in, I grabbed a basket and within a few minutes it wad full. I grabbed burger patties, jalapeño sausage patties, 3 sirloin steaks, Alfredo sauce, ravioli, chicken fried steaks, chicken medallions, deli meats, beef jerky, beef sticks, and even liver treats for my dogs. What's great about this place is the prices. Most of the items I grabbed were all $12 or less, mostly in the $6-8 range. Normally I get Tri tips here but wasnt planning on cooking them anytime soon, but even those are reasonably priced at under $40 (depending on size). I walked out of there spending only $92, which is a steal nowadays. Definitely recommend if you are coming up this way, stop at Swingle's for high quality and affordable meats.

Driving from Sutter Creek I was in the town of Amador City when I saw the sign for the End of…read moreNowhere. A very boutique winery, they specialize in natural wines - it was the first time I came across a winery that only served natural wines in the area! Founded in 2016, the winery produces only 2,000 cases a year. The wines are produced using locally grown estate grapes as well as grapes from Clarksburg, Acampo and Lodi. Their estate wines are grown in Pioneer at an elevation of 3,300 feet with 13 (!!!) different varietals on only three acres. They tend to be Rhone varietals as well as Barbera which does well in the area. They use neutral oak for barreling. The tasting flight at $10 had six different wines to sample. My favorite was the 2023 Phantom Limb Zinfandel which uses carbonic fermentation. With an alcohol content of 13.8% the certified organic grapes were harvested from the D'Agostini Shenandoah Vineyard using whole bunch fermentation. With concentrated dark red fruit notes, it had flavors of fruit punch with medium tannins. The other wine that stood out was the 2023 Strange Currencies, featuring Nero D'Avola. I am a huge fan of Sicilian varietals and this one did not disappoint. Strange Currencies was slightly more acidic with red fruit aromas and flavors of dark cherries and lots of tannins. This could easily be cellared for a few years. Finally the 2023 Little Faith, Skin Contact White was an orange wine using chenin blanc, pinot gris, chardonnay and orange muscat. It was bottled with residual sugar with a Cap'n'Crunch aroma on the nose and reminiscent of orange soda and lemon rind. It was considered one of their "large production wines" at 450 cases. With such unique names, the actual tasting room lended itself to the eclectic and whimsical wine labels. Lots of wood abounds with colorful original paintings. They are actually quite well known for their burgers, for $14 you can get grass-fed 6.5 oz patties with a variety of toppings. Imma coming back to try the food next. The patio outside is welcoming overlooking a garden area. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area!

I'm personally not a wine drinker, I dropped into their tasting room for the food. They were grilling burgers on the grill on the front patio. The smell of those burgers just hit me hard. I had to try one out. So glad I did, it's one of the best burgers I've eaten. Onto the food... ohhh that burger was outstanding. It's not any ordinary burger. Heck no. The 6.5 oz patty meat blend is a thing of lamb, bison, and Wagyu. I have never had that blend before. I can't stop thinking about it. Plus the chef caramelized the onions, spread a housemade mustard aioli, used quality white American cheese, and an artisan burger bun. Bam... delicious! $14. We also ordered a simple salad $5. Nice serving size. It was gorgeous looking and fresh tasting. The wine tasting room is modern, bright, and comfy. The staff is super welcoming. Wine tasting is $10. The End Of Nowhere wines was founded by Chris Walsh. His philosophy is sustainable farmed grapes, 100% native yeast fermentation, no filtration, minimal sulfur, neutral all aging.... gets you some delicious wine! In 2014, he came back to his childhood stomping grounds after many years working as a sommelier in New York City to plant a 10 acre vineyard in Pioneer, CA. Now the wine label uses those grapes and other local grown organic grapes. The shop also has a front and back patio area which the creek runs alongside. The back patio has a deck and lower plaza. The particular day I visited, there was no event or live performance so it was quite beautiful and serene back there. They do host a ton of events. Large shade trees and the creek running alongside (which right now is running at a low stream) sounding like well... a babbling creek. Check out their website endofnowhere.wine for their calendar of events. And they have a bunch of events lined up. Here a a few .... Art n burgers, wine tasting n chef sampling, oyster fest, and wine and local reknown chef dinners. Quality fine wine and dining taste with a small town welcoming vibe.

I found myself there for lunch one afternoon after about blowing all my cash at the slots. I had nothing to left in my pockets, except for some lint, an old paper clip, and my well used American Express card. Defeated, I called it quits and put a fried chicken sandwich and some tots on the plastic. After a chat with a friendly cashier, my food arrived in a few short minutes. Boy was I impressed! I didn't hit any jackpots at the slots, but I did with their tots! They gave me a mountain of those crispy, golden-brown, little nuggets. Each one was perfectly cooked and they came with plenty of ranch for dipping. The chicken sandwich was just as crispy, juicy in the middle, and full of fresh produce. The whole thing was only $13.00, so I couldn't be happier. Well, my pockets were empty, but my belly was full. Pacific Grill, you made me feel like a winner.

The service was great and the dining room was wonderful. Quiet and welcoming. Now the quality and taste. The pasta was just not quite done. The sauce and linguine were lukewarm and the shrimp was overdone and crunchy (they were not fried shrimp). The sauce was very good but served lukewarm. My Wife ordered the fish and chips. The fish was not seasoned prior to cooking. The crust was very good but the fish was tasteless. There was salt on the table but this does not replace seasoning before cooking. Malt vinegar might have helped but was not provided. I was torn between the pasta which I love and steak. The lone wolf is a steak house and should have went with the steak to see how it stacked up. This was our first time dining at the Lone Wolf, there might be a second to try the steak. Some would say. Why did I not address this at the restaurant. Well addressing the quality of food when we dine out ruins a good evening and I don't like to do that. I am not supper picky. I like simple dishes prepared well. I do not like food that is under/over cooked. I like my hot food hot and cold food cold. This is not nit picking, but basic food service. If the management reads this my review is to be informative regarding my visit, not being overly critical and would like it viewed as such.
