Pilipino Adobo chicken sandwich
MK V.

My wife and I were on the way from Sacramento to visit the Black Chasm Cavern during the lunch hour. We were happy to find a new location that had just opened, Bistro Saechao, which was nearby. We were eager to grab a quick bite to eat as there were minimal food options in the area and we did not want to deal with restaurant wait times - also we weren't wanting any greasy nor heavy food. The bistro is located inside Jackson Fitness. Upon walking in, you are immediately greeted by Bistro Saechao. The interior is small but modest with modern touches to the high ceiling. I loved that the seating area gives you a clear view of the preparation of the food. We come from a Southeast Asian and Pacific Islander background - same as the owners. When we read their article on the local newspaper, Ledger Dispatch, we were instantly intrigued to see their take on Southeast Asian & Pacific Islander food with a western twist. As an Asian person, I am very picky with Asian restaurants especially when there is a modern twist but they proved otherwise. I ordered the Pilipino Adobo sandwich w/ chicken. I've never thought about pairing coleslaw with chicken adobo, let alone in a sandwich ! The cilantro and cucumber gave the sandwich a refreshing taste and the jalapeños were the perfect hint of spice. I had a wonderful experience and will for sure come back to grab some quick eats. I would say this is now my go to spot now when in the area. Not only is the food good and quickly prepared, it's healthy + delicious and affordable! I wish I got more photos but I was too busy enjoying my sandwich. The owners are very friendly and very attentive. They seem to already have made good relations with the locals here even calling them by name as they walk in. Gotta give it to them for creating something amazing and bonding with the community they are setting their roots in. I highly recommend this place if you need a quick bite to eat in or take it to go on your way to work or any outdoor adventures. They also serve smoothies (w/ boba if you want) - perfect for this summer heat coming :) Don't sleep on this place.

Bbq beef Sammy was very very good! The service was excellent, everything was so fresh and yummy!

Small restaurant/cafe inside Jackson fitness. I have eaten here a few times and have never been disappointed. This is not a big family sit down restaurant but if you need that you could always get it to go. It's a mom and pop shop which I love to support!

Mr. Greens smoothie & half of my Korean Bulgogi sandwich as a wrap with beef!

My favorite place to stop at on my lunch break while in Jackson. Get the Mr. Greens smoothie. It's tasty and refreshing on a hot workday. I keep wanting to try the other smoothies too but this one is SO GOOD! Pictured is half (because I ate the other half) of the Korean Bulgogi sandwhich as a wrap with beef! Crunchy and flavorful. Food is always made to order and with fresh ingredients. Wrap was filling and I'd recommend the protein box as well! Great service and a welcoming environment. Look forward to trying more on the menu!

Food: 10/10 Service: 10/10 Place: 10/10 Peeps: 10/10 I highly recommend this place. Good food and good people. Trust me on this, you won't regret it.

Great little cafe. I had a chicken Cobb salad and it was locally sourced, fresh and reasonably priced (for CA).

A Pleasant Surprise with a Small-Town Feel…read more This one caught me off guard--in a good way. I was out with my family practicing for my daughter's driving test at the DMV up the street. We pulled up Yelp to find a good lunch spot, saw the solid reviews, and decided to give it a try. When we walked in, the atmosphere had that small-town vibe--simple, welcoming, and comfortable. The food was very good. The service wasn't polished like a Michelin star restaurant, but it didn't need to be. It was authentic and heartfelt, and sometimes that matters more. You could tell the staff cared about what they were doing. The place was busy, especially for the time of day we went, which tells you something. People come here on purpose. That says a lot. We were seated quickly, our order was taken without any issues, and the food came out in a reasonable time. When it hit the table, the portions were generous and satisfying. I wish I had taken pictures, but I was too busy enjoying the moment. If you go, post your photos--I'm sure the business would appreciate it. If you've followed my reviews, you know I don't give out 4 stars often, and 5 stars are rare. This place earned that extra star because of how it made me feel--between the food, the atmosphere, and the service, it just worked. If I'm ever back in the area, I'm definitely coming back for another meal.

I was excited to try this place as I was in town for a wedding and it had good reviews. It has potential but unfortunately today was a let down. My vegan friend had gone the night before and enjoyed her peanut noodle bowl with tofu! So that's good apparently) So we had high hopes but when we went today before 10am they were out of black beans for the one vegan option for my friend and didn't offer to make it without or anything it was painful to watch and to eat in front of her. Lattes looked good. My boyfriend is not picky but said the house coffee was average and got the All Sutter Creek- bacon eggs and toast and it just looked sad. Bacon was burnt, wheat toast was small and looked like cheap wonderbread. Eggs were fine but nothing better then we have at home he said. I got the Handford Benedict and it looked good but tasted strange. I didn't like the hollandaise sauce, it was tangy. Eggs were cooked well and potatoes were good, but overall with prosciutt ( meh), steamed unseasoned spinach and goat cheese made it too tangy. Hot sauce made it edible. French toast looked yummy with a nice amount of fruit on top and my friend seemed to enjoy it. I don't think I'd come back since the food is so unpredictable. A few things to fix - the bench seat wobbled whenever anyone moved at the other end, and the hot sauce wooden cap needs to be glued on! - it keep turning and comes off and gets glue in peoples food and looks gross underneath. I hope this helps you guys improve.

Meh: The Monte Cristo was lukewarm with way too much raspberry preserves. The french toast bread had good flavor except it was soggy in the middle like it needed to cook longer. Thumbs Down: My husband described his Americano as tasting like "concentrated Folgers".

You order up front before taking a seat and there is a good selection of sandwiches for lunch as well as coffee and freshly-baked goods. We missed the window for breakfast but they also serve made-to-order breakfast dishes. My husband and I just wanted a smaller meal for lunch that day, so we settled on the 1/2 sandwich and soup combo. While the portion sizes are on the smaller side, they were balanced and filling for what we wanted (as well as very reasonably priced), and we ended our meal with an in-house baked oatmeal raisin cookie. The cookie was huge and packed with oats but still delicious, with the proper texture and not overly sweet. Our sandwiches were simple yet delicious, with fresh ingredients and bread. The clam chowder was the soup of the day and so so good, I love when clam chowder has potatoes with the skin still attached. Our food also arrived pretty quickly, I would say within 10 minutes of ordering. Water is self-serve. We did not get a chance to try their coffee or the quiche that they're known for, but we will return to Sina's for sure and definitely recommend this cute little cafe for anyone looking for a quick, cozy meal in Sutter Creek!

This was mine and my daughter's first time here. After spending a little time scouting out some machines and playing for a little bit, my daughter and I and the rest of the family decided to have Lunch at Margaret's Cafe and Bakery. And we were definitely not disappointed. The host was a young man who had the most awesome service! Very friendly and very nice. He sat us in a booth which was definitely a major plus. We didn't have to wait long for our waitress to swing by and take our order. She was just as awesome as the Host up front! She was all smiley and friendly and she dug into some of our jokes and laughed. Dad has dietary needs and our waitress was very accommodating and helpful with that. Very thankful! Okay so... food. My sister ordered French fries for my daughter, herself, and I to share. Fries perfectly crunchy and perfectly seasoned. if there was salt on them fries I sure didn't notice! I ordered The Tuna Salad Sandwich. You get a choice of fries or a salad. since we already had fries at the table I opted for the house salad with Ranch dressing. HOLY GUACAMOLE! the Ranch they serve there is THE BEST! The. Best! the size of the salad was a good size too! (woulda loved a bit more crouton bc those things were good too)! The Tuna Salad Sandwich was very tasty. I totally enjoyed the wheat bread. The tuna salad was perfectly seasoned followed by the great onion crunch within the sandwich itself. Portions are huge! I was only able to eat half of it. will I be back?! oh yes! there are other things on the menu I want to try! So if you like great service with a smile and some good food--this is the spot at Jackson Rancheria!

Hotel Sutter Restaurant has been on my list of places to check out in our neck of the woods for a while. We for sure wanted a classy place that served cocktails, and Hotel Sutter fit the bill. Both of us were also craving a good craft burger, and from what I saw in other reviews, the burgers looked delicious. I made a reservation for us on OpenTable just in case, but since it was a weeknight I wasn't too concerned if we had walked in. We were seated nearly immediately, and our server cheerfully asked us what we wanted to drink besides good ole H2O. I was really glad we came to visit around Christmastime, since they were serving holiday cocktails and other beverages. I went with the partridge pear martini, while my husband went with the Santa's spiced cider. My martini was oh so delicious and perfectly strong, and I had a small sip of my husband's cider, which was refreshing with the perfect holiday-esque notes. We read a few mixed reviews on the apps, so went straight to the entrees instead. I chose the bacon jam burger and my husband chose the traveller whiskey burger. Both of us upgraded to the garlic rosemary seasoning. I went with fries and my husband went with tots. Honestly, we were glad that we didn't end up ordering an app, since the burgers themselves were pretty filling! We both asked for medium on the cook temp of our patties, and they delivered. The meat was perfectly juicy with a wonderful charred flavor. The bacon jam was so delicious, and the balsamic arugula paired perfectly with everything. My brioche bun was pillowy and yet did not fall apart with all the juices of the burger. I did not get a chance to try my husband's burger, but he stated that it was also top notch. My fries were piping hot, with a perfect dusting of garlic rosemary flavor and sprinkles of Parmesan cheese. I tried a tot and that was also delightfully crispy and flavorful. We asked for ranch and that went well with both sides. The ketchup was great as well. I loved the ambiance of the restaurant. Old buildings are always up my alley, and the rich history of Hotel Sutter can truly be felt simply by touching its brick walls (that is, if you believe in the spirit realm). I loved that each table had its own light, but the restaurant had the perfect dim setting for a classy date night. Our server was very friendly and attentive, and kept our waters refilled. We had a concern regarding the pricing of the cider on the bill vs on the menu and that was fixed immediately, with the rest of the staff notified for future reference. It was a tiny discrepancy, but one that we caught quickly and simply wanted to bring up. Hotel Sutter Restaurant is definitely on our places to return to in the future, and I'd love to sit on the balcony some other time and enjoy some brunch and mimosas. If you're looking for an excuse for date night or are just feeling fancy, definitely come relax, sip some delicious cocktails, and enjoy the delicious food Hotel Sutter Restaurant has to offer!
