She was also taking orders. Thankfully, she wasn't the one who helped us, another girl took our order. Their POS was down and they said they accepted cash or Zelle, so we paid with Zelle. The girl told me, "Show it to me when you pay it," which I did. THANK GOODNESS I paid with Zelle. (I'll get to that). We ordered two salt & pepper wings and an order of garlic noodles to-go. The noodles came out first, so we sat down to wait for the wings. I noticed there were people dining in, so I guess the "no dine-in" sign wasn't accurate. When our wings were ready, we went up to grab them. The girl who took our order loudly asked in a rude tone, "DID YOU PAY?" It was embarrassing because everyone heard, and could've been handled so differently. I told her yes and pulled up the Zelle confirmation, the SAME one she had asked me earlier to show her. She clearly forgot and didn't make a note of it. Honestly, I can't imagine if I had paid cash. I wouldn't have had a receipt or any proof. So if you go here and their machines are down again... pay with Zelle. While we were there, I noticed a mother and daughter who had been waiting even before we arrived and still had no food. When we went up to get our wings, the daughter walked up to the counter very upset and said, "Give me back my money. We've been here for an hour and we were here before them." That pretty much confirmed everything about how chaotic things were. It felt like a total zoo in there. The system for handling orders and payments definitely needs work, especially with cash transactions. The tables were also dirty and could've used some attention. Additionally, the girl screaming in the kitchen shouldn't have happened. The wings? Still delicious. But the service and organization at this location really took away from the experience. Walking inside, though, I was expecting a little more "Pho King Palace" and a little less "we've been meaning to remodel since the Clinton administration." The marble counter looked nice enough, but the place just felt like it needed a little love. If I owned a restaurant with a name that good, I'd lean into it. Give me lanterns. Give me atmosphere. Make me feel like the King just walked in. Charge me another couple bucks if you have to I wouldn't mind if the experience matched the name. Then came the menu. It felt a little like Dysfunction Junction. They had everything listed, but it wasn't organized in a way that made ordering easy. Give me sections. House Pho. Beef Pho. Chicken Pho. Special Pho. My only real disappointment was this: with a name like Pho King Good, I expected to leave saying, "That's the best pho I've ever had." Instead, I left saying, "That was... good." The tofu was prepared so it did not take up the whole sandwich. The pickled radish and carrots had the perfect and balanced of sour and sweet. Of course, can't leave out the herbs of cilantro and fresh jalapinjoes. The french bread was crispy outside but still soft and hearty as you take a bite. My earth was it a 2 thumbs up!!! Then their vegan pho with veggies and tofu did not disappoint. Their veggie broth was perfectly blended and made wonderfully that I was not even thinking this was vegan. The staff was kind and informative. They were attentive and friendly. Then comes the merch. If you like a play on the word Pho, then come and check out their shirts for sale. All I have to say is "Life is Pho king good." With this said, another gem in Auburn, CA.
