As someone who has been coming here since 2013, I can tell you nothing beats this place - no one can do what Tina, Kim and Lan do. I actually drive all the way from Fairfax to come here for my nails and absolutely refuse to go anywhere else. Kim and Tina are both excellent when it comes to gets my awful ingrown nails and never make me feel like it's too much to ask for. Their paint skills are great too - French tips, cute flowers or elegant abstract, they can do it all. The place is always spotless, everyone treats it like their own salon. Cami who owns the place is also very good with nails. Kim and Tina are a riot with their jokes too when they sit together and I absolutely love coming here - it feels like a warm hug honestly! I have been coming to Rose Salon for almost 9 years now after my sister introduced me to this place. In fact my sister, brother in law and me try to make it spa day and drive all the way from Virginia to get our nails done here! The salon is clean and the services are very professional. Usually it is pretty busy but today was a little more relaxed when I came in. They have nice decorations and a calming vibe with pleasant music! My only issue with this place - and it's a BIG, BIG issue - is that it's not close to me. So, so sad. *sniffles* Julie is an amazing tech who takes the time to do things right. She's friendly and skilled and delightful. I'm sure everyone else who works there is wonderful as well, but I've only seen Julie over the past 8-10 years on and off - every time I could drive out to Gaithersburg. Were Julie not in Gaithersburg and, instead, in Southern MD or NOVA, I'd see her routinely. She gives the BEST foot massages during those spa pedicures. ****UPDATE***** Four days after my pedicure, and the polish on several of my toes is chipping. One toe is almost completely bare. That tells me that they use paint thinner in their polish to make it last. Unacceptable...especially for what they charge. Also, my feet are no longer smooth. The bottom of one of my feet looks like I never had a pedicure at all. I guess they slather that lotion on to make your feet look and feel softer and smoother than they really are. Moral of the story: Don't charge me premium prices and then fail to deliver premium quality results. Not bad overall, but I'm still wondering what I paid $60 for. The salon was quiet, which was perfect for me. My nail tech (older woman) was very nice and spoke excellent English. She made sure that I was comfortable and she was thorough with her work. My feet were smooth and sexy again by the time she was done. She did a good job with my polish as well. I decided on a glitter polish for my nails, and she recommended getting a base color first so that the glitter would "pop". She helped me pick out a color and after buffing the nails with the sponge buffer, she applied the new color. While I was getting my color applied, I noticed another nail tech, who I'm guessing was the owner, kept eyeing me suspiciously. I kept feeling as if I was being watched, and as soon as I looked up to meet her gaze, she would look away. This happened numerous times over the course of my visit. I'm not sure if she is not accustomed to many people that look like me (take that how you will) in her salon or what, but it was both unnerving and annoying. Not a great way to make your paying customers feel welcome. For what I spent, I would have appreciated if the nail tech would have spent a few moments reshaping my nails so that they were uniform and all the tips were filed to a point. Still, she did a pretty decent job. After I left, I noticed that she did leave a big spot of polish on one of my fingers. Not a deal breaker, but between the outrageous prices (which are not commiserate with the final product) and the suspicious gazes from the staff, I don't think I'll be returning here. Made an appt. about 1 week prior for a Sunday afternoon. $47 for reg. mani/pedi, $35 for gel mani. Completely avg. prices for the area. This place has been here over a decade (maybe even two). I had been a few time years ago and figured I'd stop by again. Was pretty grossed out asap. This place needs a MAJOR facelift. If it was clean and old-looking that's no biggie; however, this place is disgusting. Many of the chairs have tears, one of the employees for the woman right next to me added acetone to the polish right in front of us and tried to cover it so we wouldn't notice. They do NOT clean btwn. customers. I added 2 photos but it's nastier in person. For the mani chair, there was lotion and nail dust all over the wrist rest, (could legit. see where the person's arms were on it prior and fingerprints from the shine of the lotion/oil used) asked (Kimmie?) to wipe it down, she literally took the towel that was going to be used for my mani and quickly swiped it...Wow. No actual cleaning...no solution/disinfectant...just a towel. What struck me is how busy they were! Almost every 10-15 minutes people would come in. I have no idea how they had so many customers. The work is fine (nothing amazing), but still...the place is an infection waiting to happen. Was told the massage time for the reg. pedi was 5-7 minutes...she did 4 mins and 25 seconds. The nail tech next to mine finished up with her client and proceeded to sit there next us, facing me, unfortunately, flossing her teeth and then picked her nose with gusto. As she was completing the nose excavation, a customer walked in and requested a waxing. She jumped up and took the client in for his waxing without washing her hands. They do make you sign a waiver before having any services done due to covid. I was able to hold a great conversation with my nail tech and even decided to get a manicure too. I came in without an appointment on a weekday afternoon and they saw me right away. My pedicure was good. She was nice and didn't make small talk (i.e. I got quiet time) and also didn't talk smack the whole time with her neighbor. She did a super thorough job "cutting down" my cuticles and the skin around your toes. My French tips were great, but the scrubbing was super light, as in, she glazed over my feet like it was porcelain and no scrubbing tools were used on the bottom of my feet, so it still feels rough and callous same day. Very disappointed. I was a regular client and have not been able to come as often as I use to, as my mom is sick. I called to get two pedicure appointments - for my mom and I as my mom was well enough to come out for one and it was a nice treat for her. They made us wait well over 20 minutes and when I asked them how long the wait would be as we could only stay so long as she has to be fed by a certain time, Cami snapped at me as if she was doing me a big favor by entertaining our request. Been coming here for 1.5yr since I moved to this neighborhood - there are a lot of nail salons here and I tried all of them before settling on this one. Everyone is super friendly here, and it looks like they've been here a long time. It's a great location with the grassy area right in front where the Saturday farmers market happens each week. When it's nice out, they prop the door open and it makes for a very welcoming feel. I usually get gel manicures, pedicures, and eyebrow waxing done. They always do a great job. I rarely ever give 5 stars... but compared to other places, this place is pretty awesome; I came at 6 pm on a tuesday night for a pedicure and gel manicure. I made an appointment the day before. They close at 7, but the lady said to come anyways and just try to come as early as possible; In anycase, the place was still buzzing a but when I got there which is nice to see that even that late, they still had 4 or 5 customers. I was a bit apprehensive because I have never gone here before and I was afraid they were going to rush my mani and pedi because it was closing time. They didn't. I had one of the owner's daughters do my pedicure and she was extremely nice and friendly and was easy to strike a conversation with. I don't really talk much when I go to nail salons because most salons just kind of talk to themselves in their own language. But it was refreshing to chitchat with someone because it felt like they weren't just trying to rush out of there. After that, I had a different lady do my gel manicure. She was really quiet, but so nice and smiled a lot. By the time I was getting my manicure, it was at 6:45 and I was the only one in the shop, so I got nervous again that they would just rush the manicure. But whoever did my manicure, she was very diligent and didn't rush at all. We didn't finish until 7:15 but they still didn't rush me out... a male and a female worker even came up to me and looked at my nails and complimented how it went well with my skin tone (hahaha, well, a little flattery never hurt anyone ;-)). Anyways, still looking at my nails and they are all perfect so far so... yeah... this place if definitely legit. I prefer getting a pedicure now that my wife talked me into it, I was always cutting too deep and drawing blood. Nice little shop but they don't seem to use sterilized tools that other shop do. All the tools were in a little bucket, and the lady would set the tools on the dirty window sill. I have use this salon 5 times over the last 4 months. I can say they do a fine job on acrylics but they are lacking in service and honesty. Today, I had an appt at 5pm, I was a few minutes early. I picked my color and waited til 5:25. Then I asked a girl who had finished her client at 5pm but was eating her dinner at her table, if she was doing my nails. She said no. After additional 5 minutes, another girl joined the 1st one, now looking at her iPad. At 5:30, I picked up my handbag and started to walk out. She jumped up and was calling after me "I can take you now." Really? Time is money and customer service speaks volumes. Rose has become my go-to for nails in the area. Consistently clean and not too crowded (but we usually come right when they open). I am definitely one for a quiet salon experience since it is a treat for me -- I can't afford to go all the time, but as with any salon, the women who come all the time are noisy as anything. So it goes. Thuy is nothing short of lovely. She is friendly and careful, and we had a nice quiet chat about her family while I got the best manicure I've had in awhile. After reading all of the great reviews, I made an appointment for Mom and I to come in today for pedicures. I love that it is so quiet. There is no tv or top 40s music blaring from the speakers, nor do the clients or staff speak above a normal speaking volume. That alone is such a relief! The music is a soft instrumental, like you would normally hear at a nice spa. It really makes for such a relaxing environment. Our appointment started a little late, only because the staff waited until there were to chairs next to each other so that Mom and I could chat. I, very unfortunately, don't remember either of the ladies' names, but they were wonderful. This was my first pedicure, but Mom says that the ladies were very thorough and detail oriented. I haven't had my nails done professionally in a very long time, but the thing I remember most is how much it hurt! The woman who did my pedicure was so very gentle, and I was really able to relax and enjoy the experience. It is very likely that Mom and I will make our lunch-and-pedicure dates a regular thing. I honestly don't know how there can be any bad reviews about this place. I have had several places recently "try" to do proper eyelash extensions. I had one glue to my lids and use way too much glue, another that fell off in days. I looked up where to go and decided to try going to Rose Salon. I called in and spoke directly with the person who would be doing it, Kay, to confirm how she would do it and what would be needed to be done. She was very clear and flexible about time. I went in and met Kay. She had me go into a specific room and began to look at the mess that the last place had created on my lashes. She explained to me that the best option would be to remove them and do them the right way. She was very sweet and asked me questions about me, my family, etc. which made it very comfortable. She was almost like a surgeon with how much time, precision and tools used to ensure that my lashes were on perfectly. They were supposed to close at 7pm but she was very very very very very meticulous and did not rush at all even past their closing hours. The lashes look better than I have ever had before, even including when I had mine done in another state for my wedding by someone who has won awards for her makeup and such. Also, a nice note is that the other staff was very friendly and courteous when my 3.5 y/o daughter (who was outside playing in the park area waiting with my husband and our 10mo old) needed to use the restroom. My husband came in and they made sure that he had enough room to maneuver the stroller with the baby and our daughter through to the back to the restroom (which was also very clean). I give two stars because while I had an awful first & last visit at this establishment, my two sisters swear by this place. My sisters are all about the gel manicures, they both enjoy their manicures and have many positive experiences here. That should mean something! Give credit where credit is due - my sister's nails look fantastic. I prefer to get acrylics, and that is where I had all of the problems. My nails are all different sizes (even though during the process I continually requested they be made shorter), showing from the other side how far off the sizes were, three of them are slanted at the top, even after I pointed it out (the slant was improved and made less dramatic, but it is still there) - and the acrylic was not spread evenly across the nail. You can see the irregularities along the edges and the slight mounds towards the center where it all gathered then tappers off thinly towards the tip. Granted my two pinkies are perfect, I wish the rest of my nails looked like them. Even after my constant nagging during the appointment (halfway through I realize I should have just left - but once the process starts you can't just leave with those things glued halfway) and I convinced myself I was being crazy about seeing flaws where there were none. I tried to be happy with the nails. I convinced myself my perfectionism was unrealistic, and it was not fair to place these expectations on my nails or the technician. I got to work today and within seconds of seeing my nails two of my co-workers reactions went from "You got your nails done!" to "...where did you get these done?". My insanity has been validated. I am going to a different salon today to have this hot mess corrected. They seem great at everything else, but I would NOT recommend going here for acrylics. read more

Have been there twice for gel mani. The 1st time was okay as I didn't ask any questions and let the technician picked the color for me. The 2nd time was very unpleasant and uncomfortable. The technician lady was rude after I asked her to file more on one nail, said it repeatedly "what do u want!" I shut myself up to avoid making her more angry. Wish I stood up and left right away. First time visiting this establishment. I made a reservation the day before with no troubles. We were escorted to the pedi bowls the second we walked in the door. The spa pedicure was very nice and included paraffin wax. The manicure wasn't the best I've ever had but I also was getting gels removed which took up a significant amount of time. I have been coming here for about a year. It is extremely convenient to where I live that I can walk. I am a toe nail cutter before a pedicure and I cut too short and know that they are talking about my short nails and how difficult it is to work with. I rarely have ever had anyone cut my fingernails, either. Well, that being said, I am now a changed woman!! Ly is the one!!! She is the first person I have ever let cut my toe nails!! She cuts my fingernails too. She makes my fingers and toes look beautiful EVERY TIME!!! I don't even have to remember the name of my 'conservative' color or my 'red,' Ly gets it for me! Pure service!!! I am very spontaneous and call on a moments notice and only once could she not do me, but had her co-worker give me a manicure. I was apprehensive because I have become so comfortable with Ly. Well, let me tell you, she did my nails exactly the same way that Ly does them! It was easy breezy! Best nail salon EVER!!! I usually love this place but will not be going back. I had an appointment and they sat me down, started on one foot then the lady doing my pedicure excused herself. After waiting for about 5 minutes, I looked around to find her giving someone else a manicure. I had to wait about 10 minutes for her to return. I think this was very disrespectful. I have been here before and usually the service is fine. It's a clean salon. Today I tried getting eyelash extensions here. I had read from previous reviews here that the extension experiences were positive so I thought I'd give it a try. It was my first time with this procedure, and I heard this was supposed to be relatively painless. First red flag, the lashes were glued to my eye lid. Second, the woman put surgical tape on my bottom lids which caused me to tear the whole time (I later read that that is not a good idea because it puts a lot of pressure on the bottom lashes and lids). Putting on the eyelashes were pain free but after they were finished not only were my eyes itchy, they were burning and it hurt to blink. Also, they looked incredibly fake (guess that's what you get when you choose the cheaper ones). The worst part was having them removed, the hot melting glue (or whatever was coming off) was getting into my closed eyes and I was crying for over an hour. She couldn't even remove all of them because it was so painful. I was planning on tipping the woman anyways because of all her work but they couldn't (read:wouldn't) refund me and gave me a gift certificate instead. The woman was very nice but honestly, in a scenario where your client is crying due to a procedure, I should have at least been fully reimbursed. I am only coming back here to get my nails done from the gift certificate. My advice: if you've never gotten your lashes done, don't get them done here! read more
