I will never walk into this place again. I have been living in this area my entire life, and I went into this nail salon a couple of weeks ago when I had some free time to ask some questions about gel nails. I wanted to make sure that the gel nails they use are the kind that do not use plastic piece thats glues to your nail, I wanted to new gel that just goes on top of your regular nail and dries in 5 minutes under the UV light.- Anyway, with that sad. I went into their salon and asked the front desk receptionist about it, she had no idea and asked me to ask this lady who was doing a pedicure on someone right next to us, she is the lady that would know... so I proceeded to ask her and she was the rudest person I have ever met. Not only did she roll her eyes when I was asking her questions, she gave me short abrupt answers which, by the way I could barely even understand with her thickkkkkkk accent. I told her there was no need to be so rude, that I just wanted to ask some questions before I spend $60 on a manicure that may not be what I wanted in the first place. I walked out, utterly shocked. I hate that this rude establishment is close to where I live. I don't know how well they actually do the job, but I can assure you if you want to be treated like sh*t, go here. read more

I didn't have an appointment but I walked in for a pedicure. The girl at the front counter basically ignored me. I wasn't greeted so I took it upon myself to sign in on the clipboard. I felt like I was a burden to the staff because I was a walk in. Anyhow, there was a woman available, Nancy, that did my pedicure. I'd rate it as average. The place and supplies didn't seem super clean and the pedicure seemed rushed. The end result - my toes look good but the staff, services, and atmosphere are lacking in many ways. I most likely will not be back. Also, this place is expensive and tipping is cash only, which sucks because I didn't want to give a tip in the first place and I had to go across the street to the ATM. read more

I've gotten full sets here twice here with the same person. I wish I could remember her name. She was very pleasant and did such a wonderful job making my nails look as natural as possible. She even agreed to take in a walk in appointment with only 30 mins remaining till closing so both of us ended up leaving past business hours. She did not rush me or her work one bit. I always go to Diedra and she is AMAZING. She really takes her time and gets all your dead skin and cuticles off. The price is definitely higher than the lower quality places but it is totally worth it. No nail bed infections here. Plus, everywhere else I go they always make my fingers bleed because I have really sensitive skin. This is the only place I have been that I have been 100% satisfied every time. Love this place! It's a neighborhood joint where everyone knows your name -- like cheers, but for nails. The manicures last significantly longer than at other places --the technicians take the time to go the extra mile. It's more expensive than neighboring nail places, which is a downside. But, since the service is great I continue to go. I also go to Jeannie -- she is really terrific; all of the technicians do a great job and are friendly, you can't go wrong. Tip: Make an appointment, even if its the same day. There are lots of regulars, so its better to have your time carved out then have to wait for an opening as a walk-in. read more

Rude and condescending. I wanted to use the bags to cover the spa pedicure tub and the manicurist laughed and rolled her eyes. Other reputable nail salons use the bags to prevent contamination and germs and the spa usually provides the bags. I was being kind and brought my own. I guess they don't prefer to be most sanitary. If they can use gloves, I should be able to use the bags to cover the pedicure spa tub. I would rather be safe than sorry. read more

Don't waste your money here. I was home visiting my parents and decided to go get a much needed pedicure and gel manicure. Because of the ratings and how close it was to my parents place, I came here. It was a weeknight and an hour before they closed but they were able to fit me in. The ambience is nice and the girl who did my pedicure did a great job. While getting my pedicure another lady put the acetone on my hands to remove my old gel manicure which is normal. During the pedicure, she started scraping the old gel off my hands which I've had done before but the owner had to come by in the middle to show her that the towel should have been placed completely over my legs and clothes so I would not get the old nail polish on me. The manicurist then put the bowl of water on me for me to soak my hands in on my lap. Of course that spilled on me since my legs are not flat like a table. :( the gel manicure did not turn out neat. It looked like a kid had done it as the edges were jagged. I went back two days later and the owner was very nice and let me get it removed and redone. She was going to have someone else do it but the original manicurist wanted to. I figured okay fine I'll give her another shot since it could have been a fluke. Boy was I wrong! It did turn out a bit neater but there were a couple nails that still looked bad where she missed the edges. Plus, my manicure lasted good for only a couple days. One of the nails polish completely peeled off in a week which has never happened to me with gel polish. The worst part of this was they are not that cheap either. $75 for the pedicure, removal of gel polish and the gel manicure. I pay much less than this in Arlington. read more

A friend and I made reservations to get pedicures together today at Aqua Nails. As my nail technician started my pedicure, she began telling my slender friend beside me her best diet tip: she doesn't eat dinner. She can eat anything she wants all day long but as long as she skips dinner she doesn't gain weight. She may as well have looked right at me and said what she was thinking: you're fat! Yes, I know. At the end of our pedicures, both technicians simply disappeared into the back without a word, leaving us sitting in our respective pedicure chairs. No thank you, nothing about payment, no word about how long to let the polish dry. They simply left. So we went to the desk to pay and ask for envelopes in which to leave our tips. My tip: find a nail salon that actually wants your business. read more

This place is great. They got new ped chairs last winter and now use a fresh liner for each customer so there's never a worry of contamination. They also use tools that have been sterilized, so even as a diabetic, I have no worries about coming here. Lana, Clara, Christine, Kim and all the girls really know the products and the colors they have. They can always find the exact color your in the mood for. I will keep going here. read more

Although the manicurist that did my nails did a great job, everything else about this salon made the experience a little less than enjoyable. There isn't a very friendly vibe, even the receptionist was not very polite, my manicurist tried to make small talk but that was the only 'niceness' about the place. The prices are very overpriced, I think that $25 for a regular manicure is way to much, considering there was no special scrubs or anything. I want to give Aqua 4.5 stars because it really is so wonderful! I go here every time I need a manicure or pedicure, and I think it is the best place in the area for both! It is not too expensive, and 99.9% of the time I am extremely happy. Once in a while I have had a rushed experience or a less perfect manicure, but overall the work they do is great! I've had better manicures here than at other top salons around. I have also had great eyebrow waxes here, but it depends a lot on who does it. (MUCH better eyebrow wax than Red Door, and half the price). All the women who work here are so nice, it makes coming in even more pleasant. So glad to have Aqua Day Spa so close by! read more

It seems to me that you have to be a regular to get great service. I've gone here on and off in a pinch for eight years. It's consistent in that the clientele they service are not very diverse. I was also very taken aback most recently when I was asked to pay for my services up front, while a middle aged white woman was able to pay for her services at the end. I've been getting my nails done for twenty plus years I've never had to pay prior to receiving services. I will not be returning. read more
