I made an appointment for 10am a week in advance. The night before, I get a call asking if I can come in 20-25 minutes later. Came in for my appointment at 10:20 and see that they already have two people getting pedicures done. I guess they are short of staff because there are only two nail technicians, and I was the fit in even though i called a week ahead. Techs were very nice, but there was a lot of interruption to service because both techs took in others for brow shaping when people walked in. My gel manicure did not last 4 days. I went to another nail salon to get them fixed for my 2 week vacation. read more

I never leave reviews. My gel nail polish pealed off in 3 days. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and made a new appointment. I walk in and told them my gels pealed off in a few days and the nail tech said "oh well you should have got dip." I've never had an issue with gel before. Their outside door says "Walk-ins welcome" and yet when I walked in, the brown skin woman rudely turns me away as if I didn't walk in the last two times I came. Imagine walking into a place and instead of being greeted with a welcome you're asked rudely (You have an appointment). She knew good and damn well I didn't have one. And why? Because again their front door says walk-ins are welcomed. Well, that's a lie--unless for certain races? More so, when I told the grinch I was here for a pedicure, despite the tone she was in a rotten mood, she says with an attitude (no surprise there) that they were booked, though it wasn't packed at all. Sigh. Honestly, I have never encountered such rudeness for no apparent reason at a nail shop and for that I won't be returning. Which is quite sad because I thought I'd finally found a place to unwind and enjoy a good pedicure. But no. Not here. Not with this . . . grinch. In fact, for someone to be working at such a low class salon to act that way because she's having a bad morning isn't a great way to start mine. Seriously, who turns away money? Some advice: find a new profession and a better way to talk to people. Hence to why her own employees look unhappy to be around her and it's always someone new besides her. Obviously, she owns the place and I feel sorry for anyone working with that nightmare. - Update: hubby--seeing me visually upset--asked her why she turned me away and apparently they (as in her and another) were closing the shop early because they're going to a wedding. So basically I had to endure such a bad attitude because they decide to close their shop early? And I was supposed to know this, how? Well, how about leave a dag on sign on your door indicating something like booked or no walk-ins! The real truth: she was showing off for the client in front of her. Period. One the ladies who works there (heavier set) was extremely rude to me, very disrespectful. Treat everyone the same. It is a bad look to have a complex and just show respect to some and not others. I came in for a regular manicure and pedicure today and as soon as I walk in, I am asked if I would like a gel manicure instead of a regular mani. I told them I would think about it as I got seated for my pedicure. The lady who took me was older and had bangs and her station was somewhere in the middle of the nail salon. Although, I never asked for her name she kept trying to "up sell" me and asked if I wanted another type of pedicure this time around. She handed me a spa menu and I look through it to glance the services and prices. Again, I refused. Just a regular mani and pedi which was listed on the menu for 40 dollars. I hear her mumble something in Vietnamese to her coworker probably about me not biting on her up-sells. After she painted my toes and asked me to go to her nail station. I checked and the nude color I chose was barely there. I saw that she did not paint my entire nail on some of my toes and the color was so opaque that I thought my brother could have done a better job painting it. I asked if she could add another coat of color since it didn't seem to show through with only 2 coats of color. She replied, "Yes, but after my nails were done." I sat at her station enduring another sloppy job with her cutting my cuticles and going back multiple times after to fix up some of the dead skin that was hanging off my nails. She splashed some base/adhesive sloppily all over my hand before applying the base coat. She paints and this time I'm a stickler about her doing a better job. I ask for another coat and see that instead of painting from the middle and working to the sides she starts from the side. There was a bubble/lump in the middle of one my thumbnails so I asked for her to apply more color to even out the color/deformity. She accidentally swipes off the side of the thumb mid-fix and did not proceed to fix it after the color rubbed off. UGHH! BREATHE. She proceeds to fix my pedicure and repaints my toes while the manicure was done/drying. While my extra coat of color is drying I proceed to ask if she can fix the thumb nail she accidentally bumped into. At this point I was ready to just take the bottle out of her hand and do it myself. She fixes it then I proceed to the dryer. At the dryer I'm checking out my toes that just got an extra coat of polish. NOT much better, just more color sloppily thrown onto my toes. Another technician sees how unhappy I am and offers to fix it. She explains to me I can add another coat of the nude or I can change the color for an up-charge of 2 dollars. I agreed to her fixing the nude color so she proceeded to fix it for me when she was freed from her last customer. This new lady, I think was named Patty. She seats me at a pedicure chair and brushes acetone to remove some of the chunky polish off my toes. Then adds another coat and a topcoat. It is INSTANTLY much better than before. I'm sent back to the drying station and wait another 5 minutes. When I go to pay, I hand them my credit card and ask for change for my cash so I can tip both ladies. She gives me back change and when I walk back from tipping the lady who did the WORST job ever for my mani/pedi I come back and see that they charged me for 44 dollars! I signed it. I did not want to even argue about the up-charge. Even though clear as day it says 40 dollars for a mani and pedi. DON'T GO to this place. This was the WORST experience of my life. I've been to many salons in the area including: Red Door Spa, Phoenix Nails, Nail Club, Fancier Nails, Cindy Nails, Tina's Nails, & Cute Tips, but I wanted to try this place since it was so close by me and seemed to have good reviews. None of those places I've been to try to OVERCHARGE you for such clearly BAD service. I paid about 50 dollars for a terrible mani/pedicure. Learn from my experience and just STAY AWAY! read more

What can I say...I was skeptical about getting eye lashes done. I called around and got very lucky to get a hold of PL nails & spa. I spoke with Kim, voiced my desire to get natural looking eye lash extensions but worries about the not looking natural. She cars to the rescue and exceeding all my expectations. Not only did she achieve the look I was going for but was extremely gentle and informative on what to expect. I am so thankful to have found this hidden gem located right at the heart of North Potomac. Parking is super accessible and staff is very friendly and welcoming. I called this salon on a Sunday at 4 PM, the day after Chinese Lunar New Year. They were very friendly on the phone and invited me to come right in for my pedicure. The salon is very ordinary, located in a strip shopping center behind Wendy's and McDonald s. Very clean and comfortable inside. When I got there there were 3 technicians, two of whom had clients. Hahn took ample time to shape my nails and ensure that my heals were smooth. The exfoliation scrub was nice. The foot massage was short, and less time than most and just ok. Overall, the pedicure was very nice. I also had my brows waxed. Hahn did a wonderful job shaping them. I will most certainly return to this salon and recommend it to others. Probably better to have an appointment to be sure to limit your wait time. read more

This probably my 3rd time here. The ladies that run the place are nice and friendly. No time wasting chatter. They good job and let you relax. The place is clean, it looks like they sterilize all their equipment and they even put a disposable plastic bag in the foot tub and also clean in between clients. I've only had the regular mani & pedi here, next time I hope to try the gel mani. You can walk in without appointments and even if they have clients, they usually seat you within 15 minutes. This is one of the newer places in this area and it's definitely better and cheaper than the one right across the street. read more

Absolutely love this nail place. I've gotten gel nails done for over 5yrs and they have never lasted for more than 2 weeks (which is how long they normally last). However, mine lasted for 3 weeks or even longer! I don't know what brand of product they use, but's it high quality. Love the new management it's under. It's a clean and beautiful salon. Mixed feelings... My daughters went in for mani w/gel polish ($38) and the other for acrylic fill w/gel polish ($45). Surprised at high prices! compared to other places close by. But I have to admit the quality was good and thy looked fantastic! Really wish this place had better pricing bc it is soooo close to where we live and the girls could walk there on their own. I've LOVED this place until the last 2 months. On 3 different occasions I have made appointments. Upon arrival, you can see they are hopelessly overcrowded, including walk ins who may have arrived 2 minutes before. I have waited anywhere from 30 - 60 minutes twiddling my un-manicured thumbs, waiting for my turn. If you have the patience, they do an excellent job, but I will be looking elsewhere. read more

It was my first time going to PL and I walked in for a pedicure and was curious about getting eyelash extensions for the first time. I was immediately serviced. They took their time on my pedicure and made sure I was completely satisfied with the work..and I was/am! I spoke to Kim about the extensions and she provided a recommendation after we discussed what I was looking for. It's been 4 weeks and extensions still look great!
