HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE . My friend and I were pet sitting for someone in the area and we were craving a pizza. l'm a Chicago girl living in California so imagine my excitement when I saw there was a Roasati's! I couldn't wait to show my friend how Chicago does pizza. We placed out order and we're told it would take 45 minutes to 1 hour. We NEVER got our pizza! We didn't wanna bug them because we know how busy they must have been given it was a Friday night, but after two hours, we tried to call and just get an ETA, and no one would answer the phone! We drove down there and no one was there! I called to get a refund for the pizza and all the could offer me is a $40 credit. Now, neither of us live in the area so we pretty much got robbed because we won't be able to use this credit. They wouldn't even offer an explanation to why the pizza was not delivered. Their take-out system works well during our stay-at-home requirements, but they've always provided fine service. We were visiting from Utah and, after searching the area for Chicago Deep-dish Pizza, Yelp directed us here. I haven't had this type of pizza very many times, but wow, I can't imagine it being any better than this. I am not normally a fan of tomato chunks, but the way they did them as a default on the deep-dish was great, especially since they were also lightly seasoned. Surprisingly, my wife (who normally adores tomatoes) said later that she would ask for less tomatoes because it made it rather wet and I agreed with her. I realize that with Chicago-style food, wet is often the goal. We got sausage & mushroom on our pizza, but after tasting the meatball that came with my daughter's spaghetti dinner, we would totally get meatballs on the pizza in the future. On the subject of wet food items, I noticed they also have Italian beef sandwiches, so we will definitely need to return sometime to try those. As part of the free check-in promo, we got an order of dough nuggets as an appetizer and they were unique and delicious. It is a smart promo to give away of one of your yummiest items to get people in the door. Although I am not fond of the sports bar setup, this one was done fairly well and the TVs weren't too loud. Chicago style at its finest with really good sausage that's as good as I've had in town, and the butter crust is the closest thing around to that of Lou Malnati's, Gino's East, or Giordano's in Chi City. Called in an order at 4:20 for pickup at 5:30. Pizza was not ready until 5:50. 15 minutes into the wait I was asked what I had on my pizza. They did not even make it. I was very dissappointed of my experience from all the REVIEWS I had read. Service was slow, my flatware, (fork) was not cleaned properly. I have Lupus so clean flatware is very important to me. Lasagna was grainy, not my preference. Our lunch was rudely interrupted by male Manager yelling at a Employee for dirty windows. This brought our luncheon to a halt. This place is really great. This might sound ridiculous, but I have never gone in here because their sign out front that faces El Camino Real makes the place look unfinished. I would have never gone in had my neighbor (from Chicago) not told me how great their pizza is. My friend and I called in and ordered an 18" thin crust pizza and a chopped salad. We also checked in and got a free order of dough nuggets. Everything was great! The girl who took our order was very sweet, our order was correct and everything tastes awesome! Been here a few times & only had the deep dish pizza here along with canolis and few beers. Always a good experience. Tonight I placed phone order for pick-up at 5pm-ish. Told it would be ready in about an hour. Not too happy about that but it is Superbowl Sunday. As i'm driving over I get a call 15min before the order was to be ready. It was the restaurant calling to tell me the pizza oven broke with my pie inside the oven - it could not be saved. Oven door stuck and the caller said there was a fire. Tried to order a pizza at 7:02pm, manager said your "out of luck" delivery ends at 7pm. Will never order from them again. I know when I worked there, the staff really cared about their customers. Got home, pizza didn't look appetizing, more like tomatoe sauce in a shell. Looks don't mean much, so "cut" the slices and it ate like it looked. Two pieces of Sausage in the one half and two small pieces of Pepperoni in the other. Some cheese, but mostly on one side and not the other. Truly the worst deep dish pizza we have ever had. Gets two stars for the boneless wings that were pretty good, but the cheesy garlic bread was terrible as well. Our waitress didn't come by once during our appetizers or meal until we were finished and so we were finally given a water refill (had to ask for it) after suffering through such a salty pizza.
