Stopped by on a very busy night! Every table in the house was full but the wait was only about 15min. We sat in the back of the restaurant close to the windows, very nice high tables back there. I really enjoy the laid back atmosphere and vibe of this restaurant. Hipster mixed with family love, great combo. We both enjoyed some beer while waiting for all the food we ordered. Since we checked-in on Yelp, we received a basket of dough nuggets for free. This sadly took half an hour to arrive at our table. I ordered a calzone for my dinner and my husband ordered the penne pasta with sausage. He couldn't make up his mind between two different dishes, so the server suggested combined the best thing from each dish. He really enjoyed the vodka sauce, it added a tremendous amount of flavor to the dish. My calzone was ginormous! I could only finish about half of it, excellent dish if you want left overs for lunch the next day. The only con about this restaurant was it took half an hour to get our appetizer and another 15 min to get out main dishes. Once the food was dropped, we never saw our server again until she dropped the check off. That means no refills of water and no second beer. By the time we left, the restaurant had emptied out, so there really was no excuse to ignore us. Our server was very friendly, when she took our order. We had a Yelp Elite event here some time ago, and though I appreciated the generosity with which we were welcomed, I had it on my to-do list to come visit again as a regular customer and I am so glad I did! My family and I were in the area and dropped in for some food and a beer. If you check-in on Yelp, you'll get a free basket of "dough nuggets" - which are essentially little bread pillows that taste great with the accompanied marinara sauce. We ordered the "Rosati's Monster" pizza. Wow! I have never seen so many toppings on one pizza in all my life. What have I been missing out all these years!? "Gourmet Italian sausage, pepperoni, mushroom, onion, bell pepper, Canadian bacon, meatball, black olives & green olives with marinated tomato and bacon on top of a thin crust with a rolled edge" Fair warning: if you order this, go hungry! Also, make sure you wash it all down with one of the many fantastic beers they have on tap: Latitude Honey Hips (my fav), Blood Orange IPA, Strongbow Cider, Port Brewing Double Red, Oskar Blues Scotch Ale (second fav). They even have "Bud Light" and "Coors Light" though I don't know what soul on Earth still drinks these...especially here in the beer mecca of the world. I have been searching for a place that serves the Chicago style deep dish pizza. Previously if I had a craving, I had to go to San Diego to pick up. This place is the only one I have found in North County that makes Chicago Style and also makes it right! The pizza was awesome. I had called in the order and asked for non baked so I could cook later for dinner. The lady who helped me was fantastic, very helpful and personable. She suggested par cook - which we did. Later I cooked in my oven at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes and it turned out perfect. Finally a place locally for my favorite type of pizza. read more

We have been to Rosati's a few times, and have loved the atmosphere and beer. However, tonight we ordered a pizza ahead of time for pick up to save time. The mobile site didn't work because the interface was not responsive (didn't scale). It worked on the laptop just fine. After I paid, they provided an estimate for pickup. 6:58PM, 30 minutes from now, 45 if you want it delivered to your door. Excellent! I decided to give them an extra 10 minutes and arrived at 7:08pm. Two other customers were waiting for their pickup order, which was late. Mine, even later. So, after an hour, they hand it over, say sorry for the wait, and I drive the food home. Stay with me. The box is leaking and soaking wet in the corner, leaving some awesome cheese-grease on my front seat. I arrive home, apologize to my family, who are at this point close to starvation, and open the box to serve the pizza. Most of the contents are not actually ON said pizza, and the half cheese side could not be deciphered from the sausage side. See pictures. Note that the box traveled flat on the passenger seat, which traveled approximately 1/4 mile. But I digress. To salvage the meal, I scooped the "cheese soup" with a spoon onto the dough, and served it in bowls. I did not want to go back and wait another hour for a replacement. So, we settled for pizza soup (patent pending). Rather than make this just a bitter rant, here are some tips. If you order online. 1 - expect an extra half hour, especially deep dish. This will save you from having to stand in front of their register with 11 other diners waiting for your order. Tip 2 - check the contents before you leave the restaurant. Tip 3 - lay the box on a towel in the car to save you from leakage. Better safe than sorry. Hopefully this was an anomaly. We may be back, but we won't be ordering online. read more

It is actually probably closer to 4 stars than 5, but I'm willing to cut some slack for the newness of the place. That said, I am SO HAPPY to finally have an Italian Beef place close to my home!!!! I seriously only know about 3 or 4 other places in the *entire* San Diego County. And in Chicago, you can find a beef joint literally almost every single block, even in the outlying neighborhoods. So the beef is very good. (Lefty's is probably better at this point, but not worth the 15 extra minutes to drive for it. But Lefty's stuffed pizza is TOTALLY worth the drive.) Get the provolone with the beef. Trust me. I've also had their double crust pizza. Also pretty good. Not stellar, but good. Can't wait to try their pan pizza... will update this when I do. UPDATE: I had the pan pizza. It's good. Really good. My only complaint is that they use crushed tomatoes as their pizza sauce. I prefer smash sauce. But that's a minor complaint. I also love their fries. Told the owner a couple of times that they need to offer a larger size. And if you love beer, their selection on tap is impressive, and large. So the rating is now up to about 4.5, so I'll leave it at 5 stars. Plus, I'm still damn happy to have them close by. read more

We tried to order take out online from the website, but the cart function was not working. I called to make the same order, I explained the issue with the website and she didn't seem to care. But, the lady who answered must have been new because the order was painful and she clearly didn't know the menu. She had to keep putting me on hold to ask someone how to add toppings. She also incorrectly told us delivery was free within 5 mile radius. The order took longer than necessary to make by phone, but she finally got the order correct. We were told it would be ready for pick up in 25 minutes. It really took close to an hour. We ordered two pizzas, it cost $70. That is crazy!!The food was only mediocre. The crust on one pizza was over cooked. My husband is from Chicago, he enjoyed the Chicago style pizza. Which is the only reason I'm giving 3 stars. Unfortunately, we probably won't be back. Yet another update, went tonight for dinner, had a Combo Sandwich and fries, it was EXCELLENT! I am very picky when it comes to Italian Beef and this sandwich was definitely "on point"! Tender beef, great sausage and lots of flavor, I ordered it "dry" (I don't like the bread dipped), but they were thoughtful and delivered it with a side of au jus which was perfect on the sandwich, allowed the bread to hold together while getting all that great flavor! Both the hot and bbq wings are delicious. Deep fried crispiness topped with flavor packed sauces, accompanied with ranch or blue cheese dressing (given the choice, I always go with blue cheese.) I love the antipasto salad, Italian meats and cheeses plus tomatoes blended with Italian dressing. Delish! I haven't had the pizza for a while, but the last one I had was memorable. It was a thin crispy crust topped with Italian beef and giardeneria or however it is you spell that briny blend of hot pickled veggies. The sauce was just right- not too sweet, not too tart, not too thick, not too thin, not too anything but just the right amount of everything. They don't skimp on the cheese, either, which to me is as important a detail as the crust on a pizza. Service is good- friendly and relatively quick, given how busy it often is. Parking is easy peasy, as the large storefront that used to house Big Lots and before that Circuit City is currently sitting empty in the large lot. There are TVs tuned to sports everywhere inside the restaurant so the place is really loud between them and the chatter of the crowd. There is a patio, but since the restaurant is located on a busy street (El Camino Real), it isn't much quieter out there. For this reason, I wouldn't recommend the place for a romantic night out, but if you're just looking for good pizza et al (and brew, from what my dining companions report), this is a great spot to try out! read more

This Chicago girl was SOOO happy when Rosati's finally rolled into the West Coast - and so close. Every time we go home at Christmas, we have to stop at Rosati's for pizza. A good neighborhood spot for a deep dish pizza. They have a good selection of beer and wine. They're usually pretty busy around dinner time which means service is sometimes slow, but the servers are always trying their best. I got the baked penne and it was decent, but the deep dish is really the way to go. I also recommend the dough nuggets or wings as a good appetizer. Prices are reasonable for a family meal and it's a good place to watch sports, too.
