We ordered takeaway away. We got the bean and cheese empanadas. They come with a chipotle based sauce. They seemed a little undercooked and could have been more crispy. The sauce that it is paired with was not spicy and not too savory either. We also got the corn esquites. These were pretty good. We had to add a little spice to make it slightly better. The chicken suizas were made with shredded chicken. The spice level was good, but it was essentially the sauce that made the dish. I tried the Wasilla mushroom enchiladas. I wasn't sure what to expect. It's made with different types of mushrooms, but it seemed like they were soaked in a mole sauce. I topped it with red sauce. The dish was overall good, but without the rice, it would be a small portion. We paired the meals with a pitcher of spicy mango margarita. Now, this was on point. Sweet, savory, and a quick buzz. This spot has been unchanged since 2010.... out of convenience my friends and I decided to try this spot again for a friday night dinner...and were pretty underwhelmed. Our server was nice and attentive, prob one whole star for that. But there was nothing new on the menu, no additional vegetarian items, I was still struggling to find a meal item and settled upon a low quality salad. I enjoy salads but if I'm eating it at restaurant it better have something special in its preparation or ingredients otherwise honestly I could've made a better salad. Anyways the mushroom enchilada my husband had was ok but overall our entire group concurred we would've been better off going to a new local mexican restaurant. It's been several years since I went to Rosa Mexicano and today on our way back from NYC, I thought it would be a delightful spot to eat lunch with my two kids. Holy smokes this place has gone down the hole of awfulness. When we arrived seemed like the two hostesses were clueless, made us wait five minutes to be seated in an empty restaurant because they were too busy taking phone orders. Once seated, I noticed how dirty the upholstery was (proof in my photos). It took over 10 minutes for the waitress to come to our table and I specifically said no salt on my margarita and what was delivered salt rimmed margarita. I just let it roll off. We love fresh guacamole and then low energy employee approached us and made the guacamole, the kids and I were excited to eat the unsalted, no like and no garlic... flavorless guacamole (sike). We love making guacamole at home and my kids said my husband makes a more flavorful one. Kids ordered tacos from the kids menu, dry rice and refry beans, we could play hockey with the chicken bits. I ordered brisket (legit it was fajitas) but they gave it a fancy name. When I thought it was pernil and it was burnt, no seasoning, and the rice and beans tasted like airplane food. The manager saw my displeasure and had my meal redone and to go per my request. A crappy lunch for $85 plus tip (15%). Truly going to shy away from these chain restaurants. The service however was godawful even though the place was about a quarter full on a Monday afternoon. After taking our order our waitress disappeared. Would have loved another drink and dessert. Meh not worth 70$ for a brunch with 2 meals, a sangria and a non alcoholic drink. Cheesecake factory was too full honestly. Food was good but nothing that warrants the price tag honestly. They are also stingy with food I noticed each time we come. You have to almost beg for chips refill and they never give you the corn bread that comes with the brunch. I don't blame the server for the above, he was great and doing his best considering how busy they were. The above statements refer to what I generally notice every time I come. This place is a bit overpriced but the food is good! I got the tampiquenã de carne asada - which is the grilled steak and it comes with a cheese enchilada. The cheese enchilada didn't taste like anything special. But the steak was very flavorful. Whenever I come here, I also get the tableside guacamole which is fun to watch them makw. Their margaritas are delicious. The tacos are also good. If you're looking for a restaurant that serves up authentic Mexican food, this wouldn't be my top choice to recommend, but the food is still good! read more

Fortunately this location has an outdoor dining area so it was nice to be able to get a table in the middle of this social distancing/covid craziness. The digs: Most of the seats are reasonably distant from each other. Most of them are also covered though a few of them were not. I grabbed an early dinner on a scorching hot day at a table without shade (a two seater by the wall) and it felt like I was eating food in Lucifer's anus. It was not the most pleasant experience so be sure to grab a shady table in the summer. The food: As always the guac is tasty and consistent. It's a no-brainer appetizer order before you even figure out your entrees. This time around I had the steak which had good flavor although the meat was a bit on the rubbery side. However, the flavor was solid and the little cheese quesedilla with mole sauce was a nice touch. The service: The folks here were pretty nice and attentive. One of our orders got messed up (we got a regular quesedilla instead of the vegetarian one we ordered) but it was resolved quickly. All in all the experience was pretty good. As expected with limited seating in the world of covid, be sure to reserve your place in advance. Just beware of sitting in the non-shaded areas on a hot summer afternoon! read more

We came here for cinco de mayo and jd say for it to be cinco de mayo the celebration was lack luster. They had a dj but that was it. He just played in the background and wasn't really festive music. For service our server Elena was super nice and attentive. I was a little disappointed that the restaurant did not do the guac tableside and instead did all guac in a centralized location then brought it to the table. That takes away from the experience. The guac was delicious though. I initially ordered the shrimp and noodles dish but I did not like it at all the noodles taste like chewy wheat noodles and didn't have flavor so I ended up switching to salmon which was was better. I forget the name of my drinks however one was something with coconut and the other was something with guava they both were good. The location is hard to find. I put it in my GPS and it took my to the other side of the mall. Then when walking around to find it its hard to locate as they do no have a sign outside. read more

Let me preface by saying i had been going to Rosa for years, but I dont see myself going back anytime soon. They recently revamped their menu and among the obvious price increases they removed the one menu item that kept me coming back: Pollo pabil Mexican Street tacos. The chicken used to be moist, pulled, packed with seasoning and flavor, along with fantastic accompaniments of plantains, chipotle aoli. Absolutely delicious. Now the chicken tacos are miniscule, made with lower quality meat, have little to no seasoning, and the "pico" they put in the tacos is horrible. I ended up scraping it all off and was left with a mini tortilla and some chunks of chicken. Not to mention raising the price of margaritas as well? This used to be a diamond in the rough, but it's honestly just disappointing now. On a positive note, the tableside guac is still stellar. read more

My fiancée and I went there for our anniversary tonight and it was a miserable experience. We had a reservation and were seated quickly - at a table that was completely unbalanced. We were moved to another table and somebody dropped chips and salsa at the table but that was the last we saw of the wait staff. We sat there without even water while people who came in after us were already ordering. We flagged a waiter who brought water to another table. Just as I was getting up after 15 minutes of waiting, the waiter we had tried to flag down three times came over. He said we were not his section but our waitress was busy so he was covering and could out our order in. We ordered two margaritas and the nachos. We each ordered a different style of enchilada. My fiancee ordered hers with green sauce, I ordered with red sauce. We then sat there waiting. The comp chips were done by the time we ordered. Nobody came to refill water. We got our drinks and then another server came out with a tray carrying our nachos and entrees. We asked why the entrees were coming out with the appetizer. The server offered to take them back and have them remade - a waste of food, so we said we'd just take them. Then I noticed my enchiladas had green sauce instead of red. He said they'd remake them. We then asked to speak to a manager because we'd had enough. We picked at the nachos, which were mostly toppings and very few chips. We had also ordered the extra "let us pour queso on it" option so it came with a little dish of queso on the side for us to pour on ourselves. Our water was empty by this point too. A manager came over and we explained everything. She apologized and said she'd take care of us. We asked for more water and more chips since the nachos had very few chips and were mostly toppings. My fiancee started eating her enchiladas so they wouldn't get cold. My remade enchiladas finally came out but we still hadn't received more chips. The extra queso was sitting in the container congealing because we had nothing to put it on. The manager came back and asked how we were. We asked again for more chips. My fiancee was done with her enchiladas by that point and I had finished most of mine and we still had most of our appetizer in front of us. Aside from the manager, nobody came by to ask how our food was or check if we needed more water or wanted to order more drinks. The manager comped our food so we paid only for the drinks. The manager dropped the check and I put my card on the table but nobody came to grab it. I noticed there was a qr code to pay online and I was just setting that up when our actual waitress appeared for the first time to take the check. She then disappeared. Several minutes later, the other waiter (who had taken our order) brought my card back - why one waitress took the card and another waiter brought it back I don't know. We left a small tip for the bar staff because otherwise we really had no one to tip. We saw our actual waitress only to take our money at the end and the other waiter never came back after he took our order - except to bring my credit card back. The food itself was bland and the portions - especially the nachos - were tiny. If the food had been good, it would have helped the experience but the combination of bad food and horrible service was just too much. I've had great meals here before but this was awful, especially on anniversary night. Lesson learned. Won't be going back. read more

I want to give this place 4 stars because it's so cute inside and the staff were really nice. But the food was just OK. The guacamole needed lime juice, salt and pepper but it did taste fresh. The chips that came with the guacamole were good though. Drinks were pricy but decently strong. Portion of dinner entrees appeared big but I think half of the dish looked like the sauce. I ordered the grilled portobello- flavors were good but sauce was spicy. The tres leches cake was decently priced and a good portion for sharing. You can never go wrong with Rosa Mexicano. I've been to the other locations in the city and was never disappointed and this place was also very good. Came on a Sunday afternoon and this place was nearly empty which was perfect for us. We had the guacamole to start. One of the staff pushed over a cart with a stone pot and other items and made the guac right in front of us. It was super fresh and delish. We had the Hongos which was portobello mushroom tacos. Portion was generous and it had lots of flavors. We also ordered the salmon and it was cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside and cooked tendered inside, served over sautéed kale and corn in this creamy sauce. Very tasty. I also had their red sangria which was enjoyable Service was also good. Prices were slightly steeper than other Mexican place but you also pay for the ambiance and quality Overall a great meal. The worst restaurant service I have ever experienced in my life. We made reservations and still ended up waiting but that was't the worst part. We waited over half an hour until someone came to our table to take our drinks. We ordered guacamole and the guy doing the guac did not even care to ask us about what ingredients we liked. However, the tables surrounding us all were asked beforehand. Needless to say everyone around me and my partner were white (sorry about bringing the racist card up but it has to be said). Everyone surrounding us was white and were catered to but because we're hispanic we get the short end of the stick. Our order was incomplete and we had a server come and try to bring us the elote after we ate (sorry but no). The general manager Aaron Barredo came to our table to ask us about how we'd enjoy our service for the night and I expressed to him that it was the worst service i've ever experienced. Just plain horrible. They decided to charge the drinks on the house and we paid for the elote we did not eat. Their salsa is the store brand "Tostito"... unoriginal and cheap. My advice: DO NOT come here. Their food quality is mediocre for the price and their service is exactly up to par with their food quality, mediocre over all. My husband and I always love to eat here. It's a town favorite! Rosa recently updated their decor and menus too. The staff has always been so kind and accommodating. The bar is a nicUsually, I would go for the alcoholic beverages but recently have been choosing off their non-alcoholic menu. Their new non-alcoholic drinks are SO refreshing and pairs well with their ceviche or their delicious nachos! The guacamole is a must as well! Went out to dinner last night and the place I wanted to go to had a 45 minute wait. This was my second choice but will definitely be my first choice next time. They start you off with tasty chips and a delicious salsa. Guacamole prepared table side was so delicious. The three of us had margaritas that were perfect. We had chicken enchiladas, steak tacos, shrimp with chorizo and fideo noodles were all delicious. Our server was terrific, very attentive. We had churros for dessert that came out nice and hot with chocolate and raspberry dipping sauces. I found the prices quite reasonable. My only complaint was the music was too loud, which made it difficult to carry on a conversation. We were sitting near the windows, so the back of the restaurant may be quieter. Last time I ate at Rosa Mexicano I signed up for their email list, and because of this I received a $20.00 gift certificate for my Birthday, so my wife and I decided to use it. Rosa Mexicano is part of the Riverside Mall in Hackensack. Because of this one will find that there's plenty of parking. Entering Rosa Mexicano, one will notice the romantic ambience and that you have arrived at a higher class Mexican restaurant. We were greeted by a very cordial and jovial gentleman, Paul. He was friendly and took us to our table. Our waiter was Stephen, very nice and affable fellow. He brought us the complimentary Nachos and home made Salsa. For drinks: I ordered the Mexican Colada, it's a Piña Colada with a spicy kick, I enjoyed it. My wife don't drink alcohol, so she ordered a Coke, but her Coke tasted different, with a more natural (if one can call Cola drink natural lol) taste, it was delicious, we believe it had to do with the sugar (sugar cane) that's used for this Coke. For appetizer: we got the Guacamole. For this a gentleman by the name of José came to our table with a cart and he started cutting and preparing the Avocado with various ingredients in a stone mortar and pestle. He was very skilled at it, transforming a simple Avocado into a delicious masterpiece with ease. For our entrees: My wife got the Salmon, Stephen asked her how would she like her Salmon, whether it be well done, medium, etc. We never knew that one can get a Salmon like a Steak lol ... I got the Cod with sauce. Our entrees came with rice and refried beans. Her Salmon was crispy on the outside and so buttery soft on the inside, it was as if heaven was melting in one's mouth. My Cod was exquisite, it had the perfect texture, and flavor, I highly enjoyed every morsel. We had a fantastic and stupendous evening celebrating my Birthday at Rosa Mexicano. I have taken my family here many times. The menu has been changed from the previous owners and streamlined. The drinks are always well made and I rarely deviate from the mojito. We always start out with the mild guac (spicy when our son is not with us) and it never disappoints. It is no longer made at your table, but that doesn't bother me at all. The food is always good and I have never been disappointed. My son loves this place and has no problem getting the chicken tenders and french fries each time. I've been to several branches before and the last one we've been in New York was so nasty and dirty and the staff was rude so we stopped going to Rosa Mexicano a year ago. My husband wanted to try his chance at Hackensack branch in NJ and I did not want. Anyway today we tried and it was amazingly clean,food was really good, staff was nice, very attentive manager and last but not least our server Lio. He changed the whole experience for us. Tacos are good but not the best. Service is typically fine but there was one time when the waitress questioned my husband and I when we each asked for the complimentary rice and beans that comes with the tacos. We both ordered our own taco entrees which gives you the option to order the complimentary rice and beans. She asked if we were sure if we wanted two because "sometimes people don't finish the rice and beans and they leave it". I thought this was strange like she was trying to make use share a small single side of rice and beans. I felt like we were being accused of being wasteful before we even got our food. She was like the rice and beans police. They charge $4.50 each for seltzer which is crazy to me. We didn't expect to pay $9 for seltzer especially since this isn't an upscale place. read more
